  1. You need to clean the old residue off with solution before putting the new tape on for best adhesion and if you don’t have a heat gun you can scrape it off with a razor blade I agree super easy I learned how to do it when I was a teenager and have never paid to get it done

  2. Sometimes I'll just go over the existing tape. Don't worry, it's just like when you add multiple wraps…it sticks just fine.
Who knows?…maybe another wrap, if you can even feel the difference, might be good for your game….

  3. Shoot compressed air into the top of the grip and it will come right off without cutting it.

  4. I do my own all the time, and I've started to do my mates, one took their irons to the pro shop, they come back ok but one wasn't lined up straight he's £50 lighter now, now he's asked me😊

  5. The rib he created with the overlapping tape on the back would drive me crazy.

  6. I've been putting on grips at home for 40 years. If I want to save the old grip (which he doesn't show), I take a shim, insert it in the grip and open it a bit and pour in some Ronson lighter fluid (also cheap) and work it around so I can pull off the old grip. If it's a cheap grip, I just slice it open like he does in the video.

  7. Ha! I've regripped my own dozens of times and NEVER thought to spill out through the small hole. I feel so stupid now.

  8. And your game will improve. Do your putter as well and it'll save you several strokes.

  9. We used to wrap skinny tape in a circular pattern or a spiral pattern and use gasoline way back in the day

  10. I always struggle to put the new grips after even pouring the silvent inside the grip and on the shaft. It always got stuck half way thru.

  11. The slightest stretch or lack of full extension of the grip causes a noticeable change in thickness. I found the answer for perfect regularity is to lay the new grip touching the shaft. last white groove level with the end of the shaft and stick a piece of tape where it ends. Then push your new grip on to exactly that length.

  12. Me and my Son changed my old worn grips. I never thought we would achieve it, well we did. Had a good laugh too.

  13. you do not need to remove old tape (aka replace tape), use a air compressor and airgun tip ($5) and grips come off in 15 seconds, dip OLD tap in solvent and slide new one on. can go as fast a 1 minute.

  14. Nope. This is best case scenario. I do this sort of stuff for a living and there are a lot of things that can and will cause you problems that could end up costing you time and money. Learn how to do it right and practice on an old club if you want, but leave it to a pro if you want it done well. We don't charge a lot to regrip clubs…

  15. I replace the tape every other regrip. I also don’t have any fancy vices, solution, etc. wet the inside of the grip with water and a tiny drop of dawn dish soap on the end of the tape. Slides right on and never move on me.

  16. Back in the 90s, my friend worked and was taught to use a syringe with acetone, till he injected his finger , destroyed all the muscle in his finger
