Had I not already bought an Eye Mini, I probably would have bought this because it’s what I always wanted!
Putting practice ✅
Driving range ✅
Photometric ✅
Only pay for simulation ✅
No other launch monitor under $1k offers all of this. I also think you are assessing the swing stick incorrectly… that’s not for us (the golfer). That’s for when you’re entertaining and have people over (or wife/kids) who want to play but do not golf. Fantastic addition imho. You’ll also need to redo your accuracy tests. As others have mentioned, interference is a thing. Dotted balls are also okay imo. At this price you’re likely using a net and a TV, not a $2k projector and impact screen. With that sort of setup just dot the balls with a permanent marker and play the ball you want.
If someone develops an GSPro API for this like the MLM2Pro it’s game won.
who let one rip at 13:48 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Is it pay as you go if you want to play simulated courses only? Or do you have to pay as you go if you want to do range sessions?
I wonder if it’s good for higher club speeds?
I always appreciate it when I’m able to park my 150’ yacht next to my private driving range! Thumbs up for that.
Did you try this outside with a net? Curious if it’s any less accurate in the bright sunlight.
IOS and Android is good, but no PC offering cuts out a lot of potential customers. Just read in the User Guide on the Square website that there's is a Windows 10 App.
Reading further I found some answers to questions I had after I watched the video:
"The launch monitor should be set up in a room with little to no sunlight." so outdoor use looks to be a non-starter.
The device detects the ball in a six inch square which is around 16 inches out from the front of the device and 9 inches back from the device. A green led comes on when the ball has been detected and the device is ready to track.
The default target line is parallel to the face of the device. But you can use the white stick to change that line plus or minus 5 degrees through a simple process.
There's an option to mark the club shaft about 8 inches from the club head so the device can offer attack angle and swing path information.
No outdoor use is a deal breaker for me.
This looks like a really great fit for me, but I do wonder how well this thing would take a toe-shanked shot to the face
Very intersted is their going to be plans to incorporate 3rd party integrator for GS Golf Etc?
Might switch to this from mlm2pro – i am just so annoyed by the disconnects and the terrible short wedges readings.
Also the courses seem to be much more detailed than in mlm… very interesting!!
Also, does it include markers for adding to your own golf ball or must you use the supplied marker ball for best accuracy. I beliive Calaway makes a marked ball for the MLM2 Pro.
Shoot i was hoping budget meant under 50 bucks
How do the credits work if you are playing a round with a buddy?? Do you pay double the credits for each hole?
Very intriguing. Pay as you play is better than sub, but still an added cost. Why is it indoors only?
Oh, why no clubhead speed?
I bought it. It's coming to me now. I will test it and let you guys know it's performance. Especially for the side spin. Someone says infrared can make interference. It might affect the side spin result. He said, it worked well alone but it showed sometimes weird side spins being tested with other launch monitor. I don't like subscription. I want to play game sometimes for fun…but not many. I am a Skytrak user. I was considering buying Eye Mini light but I've found this video.
Not sure why you didnt test the face and path accuracy.
The yardages don't look that close imo… Might as well just be guessing off the top of your head if it is that far off
The special balls are a deal breaker for me. I hit with ProV1x on the course, so I use V1X practice in my sim setup.
How does this compare to the original SkyTrak?
Wonder if TP5 pix would produce similar results to the provided sleeve of marked balls…
Not sure why the GC3 is being used as “the reference” unit here. A lot of these channels fall victim to this, comparing an ok device to an unknown device.
How did u like the simulation? Was it good? How good are the 10 courses compared with other simulators you have played?
My question: Does it work with marked foam/plastic balls?
