They sound like slaveowners, fuck them n you.
I feel like if i was in a max prison and was told I had to be a greenskeeper for the rest of my life….man…im the luckiest man alive. Thats the best prison sentence ever. Like, yea I fucked up and have no freedom. Now now I work in solitude and get to have a sense of accomplishment.
This is horrendous. Only in America would we make prisoners build a golf course they can’t play and act like it’s good for them.
I was in a identical X house in illinois. Called western correctional.
I don’t think a more likable head of a prison exists
I don’t get why a select few can’t play golf. The ones that want their life turned around have jobs, play basketball, and workout
Congratulations to the warden
Loved it 🙂
Let them golf
2-20 cents an hour. So basically slave labour used to maintain their own private golf course. And not even available to the inmates as an incentive for good behaviour. Wow.
Unfortunately in America there is hardly any focus on rehabilitation in the prison / jail systems. Don't know exactly how without giving it some serious thought but golf could be a great tool to achieve just this.
“Honey how was work?” “Horrible I shot a 97.”
So they exploit the prisoners for cheap labor and then don’t even allow them to play the course they take care of. Meanwhile the corrupt guards who are only free because they haven’t been caught get to play it. Welcome to America where it’s not about rehabilitation but more about profit.
I dont care that they are prisoners 2 cents a hour is the us government using slave labor and that’s horrible
I hate this.
Most people I see get angry playing golf when they first start off. Playing golf just starting out is not a good stress management tool. It’s a good tool to learn to deal with stress because it pisses you off sometimes. It takes you through real highs and lows. I know it sounds ridiculous but no I don’t believe a murder should have a deadly weapon in their hand. You don’t even have to hit someone that hard to do damage with a club. Maybe lower level inmates could work their way to an elite program. Everyone vouching for the guy to play golf but he said it himself he doesn’t have the patience. There are hundreds of thousands of grounds keepers that don’t golf at all. Hell I know a guy who owns a landscaping business and he thoroughly enjoys mowing grass. Y’all need to get a grip in these comments
Oregon state penitentiary in Salem Oregon has a mini golf course in the prison grounds.
Grounds crew personnel make a career of maintaining Augusta National Country Club, and never playing that elite course either.
No comment on the horror of locking up that many largely black and brown people in a prison famous for the chain gangs?
is this taxpayer funded
I've been a long time skier, and just recently pucked up golf. I'm convinced that both sports or activities can be excellent parallels for life. I think a great many of the more peaceful inmates could benefit from walking 18. It's those things that are easy to pick up and near impossible to perfect. But you can get damn close! If you're good and spend enough time with it. It's always infront of you, but you'll never reach it. They also teach you that setbacks and adverse conditions are part of life, and in no way personal towards you. My dad always said you're closer to God on a mountain anyway. He was a ski instructor for alot if years
