Name a player In professional sports thats gets more credit for being mediocre than this dude
Atlanta did the right thing tbh, Penix will eventually be better imo
Vikings didn’t
This dude's talking about QBs like they're RBs..
If you don't get resigned as a QB it's because you didn't perform. Nobody's looking at rookie QBs if they have a half way decent QB.
Daniel Jones is a prime example of this. And if this were true how tf is Sam Darnold still in the league??
Cousin IS a mistake!! He just a game manager at best and won't make any difference or have any real impact for anyone!!
To answer the question not really the falcons have such a full roster compared to the Vikings and even though they got Michael penix if they let him sit as long as Jordan love and all the quarterbacks used to back in the day I think Michael can be one of the best quarterbacks in the league as soon as he comes in if the talent stays as it is around him especially so Kirk cousins should be around Atlanta as the starter longer than what most people are thinking unless they came to the media to put the young guy in
And if he's a good sport he's gotta lotta Kirk cousin fully guaranteed fitzmagic contracts too I love how Kirk QBs hes an early 2000s QB
He got an upgrade at oline in Atlanta and got paid more than vikings were gonna offer
Kirk’s decision to leave the Vikings came well before Seifert’s article /2023 season. If the Vikings truly wanted to keep Kirk, the new Vikings GM would have signed him to a long term deal in 2022 instead of him signing a one year deal. Even after his 2022 performance (13-4 season and making the playoffs) and a restructured contract, it was pretty clear that the Vikings GM wanted his own quarterback.
Why wouldn’t you draft a player that you really liked instead of taking a chance that someone else would take him?
Kirk was the Falcon’s top veteran choice. According to Albert Breer, “Inside Kirk Cousins’ Departure from Minnesota and His Arrival in Atlanta,….To run the offense Morris and Fontenot envisioned—they needed a QB who could be an effective distributor and throw with accuracy and anticipation. So, the ideal fit was a QB like Brees, who Fontenot and Pace had grown up with as young Saints personnel. Those in the Shanahan tree who were with Cousins in Washington, long felt Cousins, under the right circumstances, could be a QB who’d mirror Brees in a lot of ways."
Penix playing well in the pre-season really doesn’t mean anything. He’s playing against back-ups who are trying to make the roster and the practice squad. As long as Kirk is playing well, Penix won’t be seeing the field.
If you rank qbs as follows : let's make believe out of the 32 teams our there , you drop a qb in a situation
Cousins was gone one way or another. When the Vikings chose to not give Kirk another lucrative extension, (the loss to the Giants may have figured into the decision.) That was the beginning of the end for Cousins in MN. When he was hired in 2022, Mensahs job was to cut spending on unviable veteran contracts and rebuild the roster. And the biggest unviable veteran contract belonged to the starting QB. if Cousins was looking for guaranteed money to his liking, then he made the right choice in going to Atlanta. And the Vikings can finally move towards finalizing the rebuild of the roster.
He sure did!!!! He's a greedy guy and it's finally going to come back and bite him in the arse.
Who? Kurt Cousins……. never heard of him.
He needs 3 years under a system to be great…….. so he's done.
Depends on what your gauge of mistake is. If your gauge is, money. Then no he didn’t.
If your gauge, is cementing your legacy, have a higher chance of winning. Win with familiarity and a team + community who loves you as you ride into retirement, hell yeah he made a mistake.
Kirk’s good but he’s never gonna be that guy if they were gonna draft penix they should’ve not got Kirk with all his questionable around his Scenario only falcons fans are hyping or praising this move the rest of the league is laughing the Vikings probably the most
Kirk did the wrong thing for himself, but the right thing for the vikings. Actually, ATL did the right thing for MN twice over. They took kirks massive contract off MN's hands, AND they passed on McCarthy, the best qb in the draft to take penix. So really, ATL big upp'ed MN skol
Kirk hasn't won anything significant… 1 playoff win at 35
That Brady Quinn Notre Dame background is 🔥💪🏽
google MWIMPP
He had no choice. The Vikes wanted him gone.
Fools Gold cousins. Plays well between the 20's, chokes in the redzone and in clutch situations.
As a Vikings fan. Love Kirk as a man. Im glad he is gone. We have Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy. Were excited. SKOL
As a Viking fan, all I can say is GOOD RIDDANCE!!! Yes, he throws for lots of meaningless yards, but when the game is on the line, FAIL!!!
No, Kirk cousins got what he wanted more than anything, money. He didn't want a championship, just money. And he got paid. And he will forever be remembered as the most over paid QB in history.
McCarthy is looking good in Minnesota. We're happy 😊
5:50 but he THINKS hes better than those guys….. hes an average NFL QB with the BEST agent EVER.
The best QB in the lg sat and watched before he played and so did the highest paid QB what is he talking about
NO! As a Vikings fan Kirk cousins made the perfect decision. Thank you Kirk cousins. Won us absolutely nothing in your time here. Lost all big games and didn’t really show out until KOC stepped through the door. Until then he was mediocre. Go check it out. I watched every game. He takes a million sacks and turns the ball over in huge times of the game and gets the team down huge by halftime and need a miracle to come back and win. And he is a check down specialist. For no other reason other than he’s scared to throw it in tight windows. . Did I miss anything? He’s your problem now Atlanta. The fans will see what I’m talking about by week 6 they’ll be screaming for Penix
He checked down on forth down last possession needing a touchdown in a playoff game!?!?? Good riddance.
Vikings get “best organization” ratings because they treat people right. They treated Cousins better than any other organization. Cousins didn’t respect the organization. And it showed throughout his time there. And it showed in the way he left.
Glad we got rid of kirk trash qb
