Picking up from the last video on the grip and lever, here, I describe how the upper body moves in the golf swing; it is the transmission of the golf swing. The upper body motion of the golf swing is simple to describe, easy to understand, yet difficult to perform. The triangle is your main unit, and it moves as one piece in the takeaway. The club hinges or cocks at the top of the swing during the transition by stopping upper body rotation. As the body begins to rotate back towards the ball, the club, hands, and arms, LAG behind. Rotation continues until impact, at which point the club is unhinged or released by stopping the arms and hands. The followthrough happens naturally as the momentum of the club carries you around. Relaxation is key to fluidity.

  1. Very curious about how far down the shaft you grip the club? Looks like your right hand is placed more on the shaft than the actual grip. Is this intentional and meaningful for quality shots?

  2. You need to copyright these tutorials or otherwise some cheeky YouTuber from Manchester England will pinch them 😂

  3. These first two videos were almost perfect… My only feedback would be to eventually show these movements in the proper tilted golf position… Showing them horizontally is a great display but showing it in a proper gold position would bring everything together… I am sure that will happen in the next vids.

  4. I’ve always been an “armsy” type golfer (over 30 years now). It’s not until coming across and watching this series (thank you YouTube algorithm) that I realised the reason I am an armsy golfer is because I’m not utilising my body properly so I actually need to use my arms to get any distance.

I’ve had many many golf lessons in the past and the instructor has probably told me this already but you and your explanations have managed to switch a lightbulb on and give me that “ah-ha” moment.

My swing feels completely different now.

Fantastic series. Thank you for taking the time to make and post them.

  5. Watched first and second videos so far. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to break down the golf swing. You capture small details that other instructors miss.

  6. Sir you are amazing! Youre so great at explaining concepts that quite frankly I didnt understand. Best of luck to you. I'm definitely a subscriber.

  7. Just amazing how this is explained, glad I can watch with your tremendously good instructions

  8. If you watch a young Rory swing his hips stop snd actually go backwards at impact to get that whip action. Tommy Fleetwood is a good example of stopping your hands at impact too.

  9. Dude. I've been chasing the Goddess of Swing for almost a year now. Everything you talk about I've been thinking about but no one else talks about. And you say it's complicated. I like that. When teachers say its easy and I can't do it it makes me feel stupid. Keep it up man. You're the best.

  10. His videos on the dynamics of the golf swing are IMO the best I've seen. I have spent hundreds of dollars on lessons and only through two of his videos and my swing as improved more than in person lessons. Can't say how impressed I am in his engineering level of understanding and ability to formulate to the viewers. Also I highly recommend checking out his cover of "Turn the page". I don't usually give this high praise but dude is gifted.

  11. Is there a reason you choke up on the club? Is it just for showing details or is that how it should be?

  12. Wow I am really blown away by your instructions! Finally someone explains the dynamics of the swing in a way it finally makes some sense. Cant wait to put this in motion. Thank you and keep the content flowing.

  13. Man…. I've now watched exactly 1,478,518 golf videos and for the first time, I truly understand how everything fits together. You explain things incredibly well and really translate the images in your head into a language that anyone can instantly grasp. Pedagogically, it's extremely valuable. Methodically, I also find your approach excellent because you really work from the ground up. Simply fantastic. Typical musician 🙂 A big round of applause. Please keep it up.
