thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals I I wanted to Buck him up so bad from his point of view being a uh you know a USA athlete I think he’s right and they have world champion on their head he just came across as flagrantly ignorant and that needs to be said um but at the same time like I think you have a right being in the best mhm world champion of what I don’t think in any other sport you are called the world champion the United States in terms of world champion competing on that scale um and winning the gold medal the the NBA has established itself as a global iconic brand with all these other countries and and National players being a part of our league when they win the World Cup they play against the USA team to play against the the teams around the world yeah you you’re you’re a world champion I’m going to go with John Mor at number one I remember somebody talking about how Giannis was going to dunk his way through the playoffs and yada y y to solidify their power in the world however there was another group that always strives to be synonymous with world champions sports in America many american professional leagues have become used to adopting the word world champion for their National leagues whether it’s the MLB the NFL or in this video specifically the NBA they all do it but the question is why especially in the NBA what is this obsession with being the world champion is it because Americans have the habit of thinking that America is the world is it because the best players from across the world play in America or is it just a simple name that shouldn’t be heavily scrutinized or is it all the above if you chose option A and B you get a prize in the the form of you are my my only yes it is true that many of the best players across the world attempt to play in the NBA but the NBA is not the world simply because the teams are not divided by nationalities you will never see a team of only Frenchmen Serbian men or Australian men however this is what makes the Olympics and feeble World Cup the world championship it divides teams by nationalities with the best players of each Nation facing each other still the NBA and his Larry O’Brien trophy have always had a problem with conforming to the fact that the NBA is only in America and because teams aren’t divided by nationality it isn’t the world but chat do subconsciously knows that they are not the world and it’s pretty simple in trying to figure this out ask yourself who over the past 5 years is the emerging face of the league who if you ask this question to many NBA fans you will most likely be confused by a world pool of answers however in years past it was very simple in the 60s you had Bill Russell and WIIL Chamberlain in the 70s you had Kareem in the 80s you had magic and bird in the ’90s you had Jordan in the 2000s you had Kobe Shaq and LeBron Leon in the 2010s you have Curry oh and more LeBron but what is the common denominator in all of these decades the emerging or solidified faces of the league just so happen to be the best players at the time so why isn’t the emerging face Luca donic who has five First Team all NBA selections this decade why isn’t the emerging face Giannis anmo who has five First Team all NBA selections three all defensive first team selections one one Championship one finals MVP one Defensive Player of the Year and one season MVP this decade why isn’t the emerging face of the league NOA yic who has three First Team all NBA selections three season MVPs one championship and one Finals MVP this decade why isn’t it Joel embiid just kidding Kawai Kawai you are a man of few words the NBA has three clear faces right in front of them however they say that Luca hasn’t done anything and needs to win a championship or else he’s producing empty stats Luca is only 25 by the way Giannis wasn’t even an MVP finalist after having a season statistically better than his MVP seasons and they say that Nicole yic is boring and isn’t a dominant post player with lackluster defense when all of the numbers say otherwise like nicoa yic being second in defensive player rating for centers behind Rudy Gober the defensive player of the year and yic isn’t known for having some kind of dominant post game now you know what the number one most efficient half court play is a Nia yic post there you go boom I feel like we have three clear candidates for face of the league but why are they not being selected well let’s go back to the 9s notice the name that I left off Hakeem elijahwan it’s it’s amazing how underrated he is he to me is the best cent of all time despite being drafted before Jordan Hakeem was the only player that no team would regret drafting before Michael Jordan also I am sorry for the Portland Trailblazers for drafting Sam bowwie at number two Hakeem was able to win back-to-back championships in the Jordan ERA with a team that was never on par with any of Jordan’s championship teams honestly it’s amazing thinking that a postscoring center playing with not one solidified star went back to back Hakeem was able to be the focal point and best player every single night on a team with names like Vernon Maxwell Robert Ory and Kenny Smith yet he was never legitimately considered as a face of the league fast forward to the 2000s and a repeat situation occurs with the rise of Dirk Nowitzki while it’s true that these two players weren’t the Surefire best players of their era the fact that they weren’t necessarily considered says a lot and leads to where we are today where legitimately the five best players in the league are all foreign nicoa yic Joel embiid jannis anmo Luca donic and Shay gilis Alexander however now in an everlasting Battle of Aura and this can all be seen with the rise of Anthony Edwards after a statistically inefficient but star-roving regular season and hands down otherworldly playoff run with an Edwards proving to have MVP potential scoring ability that will rival any big in the league Victor wenyama is proving to be undeniable the future of the NBA resides in San Antonio if he can stay healthy Victor wanyama when you watch him all you can do is stare in awe at what he can do on the floor he has has no constraint and defies what it means to be a big he can be a guard at any time then a forward then a center it all depends on what he wants to do and how he wants to play he has given Superstars and all NBA Talent a run for their money and will only get better and in a few years maybe just maybe we will see the NBA finally
