[Music] good morning dog Nation I am Brandon Adams and this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans were presented today by serve proo and we’re happy to have you with us really fun show on tap former Georgia quarterback Jake from going to join us today that’s going to be really good there is a little bit of an intriguing I I I I think anyway kind of an intriguing subplot to who Georg is bringing with it SEC media days I want to talk to you about that here coming up in just a few minutes there as well I I think that one of the good things about nil is perhaps on display so we’re going to talk about that Georgia got another recruiting win uh yesterday afternoon after the recruiting win it got in the morning so all of that kind of on display for you here right now but can I do this and uh our friends who are helping us produce the show today have no idea about to say this can I also do this here for a moment we’re going to kind of break with protocol at least here just a little bit and we’re going to kind of let it breathe for a moment before we start the show hopefully that doesn’t Rock anybody’s world this is a shocking breach of protocol but uh hopefully this doesn’t Rock anybody’s world too much I just kind of want to spin a moment now we always start our show at 9:45 on dog nation.com the dognation app um and we do what we call our first and 15 kind have a chance to talk and uh say hello to people and just sort of kind of find out what’s the mood of the the morning before the show actually begins there has been some talk out there of well be how come you don’t do this for the entire audience how come it’s just a dog nation.com uh I guess sort of exclusive event and you know there have been some private conversations going on here around dog Nation there are some people who have asked that question themselves and perhaps it’s fair to wonder should that kind of comment portion of the show be expand it out and kind of be available to the full audience I think that’s totally uh fair to wonder that uh and perhaps we may have some news for you on that at some a certain point in time but with that in mind I kind of want to let it breathe here just for a moment before we begin Today’s Show we don’t ever do this but uh we always talk to people at the end of the show but I want to take a moment if this doesn’t Rock everybody’s world just too much I want to take a moment to sort of say hello to everybody on the various comment sections before we get ready to begin the show live here today and uh kind of roll through everything we have going on including an appearance from Jake from a little bit later on a chance to uh talk about all the stuff that’s going on uh around Georgia football including a big commit let me just take a moment to say hello to folks here just for moment including Eric suner and Camden Hill checking in there on YouTube Aven Curry checking in there uh with a nice good morning message for everybody Maurice turnup seed checks in our buddy Mike is in there Hunter Lacy checking in there as well uh broo baggin a lot of folks kind of jumping in there giving their good mornings you love to see that want to say hello to some folks on Facebook Facebook here today too before we get ready to begin Today’s Show and of course everything you’ve come to expect from dog Nation daily that’s all on the way here in just a moment there as well and I don’t know if you’re like me but you can really sort of feel that the actual SE now we’re college football here all the time we’re Georgia football all the time for us the season never really ends we just sort of bleed from the end of one season to the start of the next but there is no doubt there’s kind of A Renewed Energy when you get to this portion of the summer because you’re like right there at SEC media days you’re right there ready for it to all go and we’re kind of we’re sort of at that moment I don’t know if you’re like me hopefully you are you sort of feel this here right now the excitement of what’s about to be with the upcoming season there that’s on the way you got Lyn Shipman checking in good to see her Kent hul now sliding over to Facebook he’s over here Scott Moody good to see him William kamacho giving us a good morning youd love to see that David Stone Brian Jordan Scott Gentry uh a lot of folks showing up here to say uh good morning if you got some comments you want to pop in here I’m going to read you a couple here before we get ready to uh launch into the uh rest of the show today there as well we’ve been on dognation domcom uh and that’s been a lot of fun bmax says by the way he likes first and 15 which we do at dog nation.com because it gives him a chance to be noticed well hopefully everybody sort of gets their moment to be noticed and hopefully we have a chance to uh do all of that and I I’ll tell you is that you know one of the things that and we’ve been doing this now for going back to you know the show itself has been around since August of 2015 the actual comment portion of the show and the video portion of the show dates back to the spring of 27 2017 and at that time you know the format that we first sort of kind of just sort of stumbled on to has ended up being the thing we’ve sort of mostly stuck with which a little bit of chatter before the the show begins and a good number of comments at the end and one of the things I’ve always liked about the comment portion of the show that we typically do at the end of the program one of the things that I’ve always really liked is that it kind of gets me talking sometimes about things that I wouldn’t have planned on talking about and you know it just sort of off the cuff and sometimes the stuff that you say off the cuff when you don’t really have it planned and you’re just sort of riffing or responding to what somebody else says sometimes that stuff ends up being some of the best stuff like if you’re joining us on Facebook or YouTube or twitch or something like that uh our friends on the xplatform if you’re doing that um we were just on dog nation.com and somebody brought up something about the George schedule and we pulled up the schedule we end up sort of talking about it totally unplanned just kind of a uh sort of an off-the-cuff type conversation but some of that stuff ends up being some of the best uh that there is sem dog says don’t melt in this heat right now yeah no doubt it’s uh incredibly hot there is no doubt about that here right now uh G Grace by the way our resident Bama fan over on YouTube saying B still Bama roll Tide you got to give credit where credits due kayin board and I you you know we are obviously partisans we are you know we’re very much uh you know a Georgia show for Georgia fans but we don’t have to lie about anything objectively speaking kayin dor is having himself a pretty good recruiting summer uh I don’t believe it’s going to probably be good news for the defensive line Target that they tried to host a fresh off his USC decommit and Justice Terry I don’t believe that’s going to work out for Alabama but no doubt they’ve gotten themselves some recruiting wins and so uh we’ll see what dor can do to perhaps capitalize on some of that momentum when actual games start being played but uh in terms of the recruiting wins that he’s getting right now once again just being as objective as we know how to be dor is recruiting better at Alabama than he did at Washington I think that’s probably fair to say um Mark Woodman C checks in to say our recruiting class is shaving up to be pretty nice we’re going to catch Notre Dame and Bam when it’s all said and done yeah I would say at this point in time the recruiting rankings for the most part are not reflective of what the inclass going to look like now there’s also you know the bamas and the Ohio States they are hoping to add more players there as well but pretty clearly you know Georgia which was ranked whatever at one point in time obviously climbing the rankings as you expect they might let me tell you who’s not y’all see what Florida’s rated in recruiting here right now uh things are not going well for Billy Napier and you know it’s always one of those things we always say this that a recruits are kind of the first to know the real state of program and B if you kind of want to know politically where it stands for a coach with his important boosters you know we saw this when like Brian harson was Auburn coach you know there was no money being spent on anything those boosters did not want to do anything financially that helped harson get his footing there because a they thought it’d be wasted money and B they just didn’t like him and they wanted a different coach I think you maybe see some of that with naped deer here right now there as well where it seems like there’s some pretty stingy budgets around the Florida program here which perhaps is a foreshadowing of what uh Napier’s future might end up being there as well uh Jay Fizz pointing out that a Shamari Earl’s ranking has gone way up yeah it’s a big guy 6’2 200 plus pounds uh you know thought to be a tough guy runs pretty well it’s the kind of defensive back that Georgia wants and typically speaking the kinds of defensive backs that Georgia wants are going to be highly rated you know prospects by the recruiting industry so perhaps no surprise that’s happened um T-Bob checks in to say about Jaylen milro excited uh to see him as a runner throws a great deep Ball but struggles with decision- making on intermediate passes yeah the one thing that we’ve said a lot is is that um we really felt like the Georgia did not have the best game plan it could have had against Jaylen milro last year maybe some of that was based on Personnel deficiencies or or whatever but you know Michigan to its credit just had a better approach to jayen milro and a more especially in the first half a more successful uh you know attack on milro defensively and one of the reasons that Michigan won that game perhaps the reason that Georgia lost the game and that was ultimately the difference we think in who won the National Championship that is probably the case uh Eric dorce checking in you love to see that all right really really good stuff so we’ll do more of this at the end of the show as part of our RS Andrews cool down I just wanted to take a moment to say hello to everybody we don’t ever do this in the morning but uh I wanted to kind of like you know take some time while it’s still sort of a little bit of kind of a summer Vibe and do some of that before we get rocking and rolling today now we’ll get ready to begin the Regular Show a little bit of a different format for us today in the fact that our guest is Jake fromom and Jake’s going to join us at 10:45 today so we’re going to kind of roll through and do the regular beginning the way we would we’re going to kind of slide into what we call our cruising around the SEC after that and kind of look at some of the stuff that’s going to happen at SEC media days then a fun conversation with Jake from before it’s all said and done but to kick things off a couple of things of note thing number one I think that Georgia made a pretty intriguing Choice by who it’s choosing to send to SEC media days I’m going to try to explain to you why that is and if you’re a Georgia fan and you’re kind of trying to make sense of the current nil age in which we live in we may see an example right now of how nil and at times can be a very good thing for fans we’ll talk about that plus George got a recruiting win there as well so we are all over the place here today and glad to have you with us it is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented today by serve proo and it begins finally right now today’s episode of dog Nation daily is brought to you by surfpro cleaning restoration construction presented by dog.com this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans here’s your host Brandon Adams hopefully I have a reputation for being a little bit self-aware I sort of know what I do well and kind of at times know what I don’t quite do so well I’m also kind of aware of some of the habits I probably have one of the things I love doing on the show is I love reading between the lines on things and the truth is when it comes to college football there’s so much secrecy and so much you know uh sometimes nonpublic stuff that’s out there that you are forced to read between the lines a little bit that’s one of my favorite kind of college ball conversations of here are the accepted facts that we know but perhaps here is the story behind the story I just sort of like doing stuff like that however here is also where the self-awareness part of all this comes in if you do that kind of thing enough there are going to be some moments when you perhaps read too much into whatever the facts at hand might be and at times we probably are guilty of that I don’t really make much of an apology for that because after all this is a conversation that’s all in fun and anytime we do something like that I you know would say that we’re probably just trying to have a little fun with the subject matter at hand today’s an example of that Georgia yesterday announced its three representatives for SEC media days and in Reading between the lines on this I’m going to try to explain to you how I get to the point I’m going to get to I think there is something pretty interesting about at least one of the players that Georgia is bringing to Media days let me show you this on the screen if you’re watching on video by the way this year’s event is in Dallas Georgia taking three players to Media days you’ve got Carson Beck Mel Williams and Malachi Starks along with Kirby Smart at media Days by the way that’s next week now many of you know I’m not going to spend too much time saying this many of you know that next week I am gone a little bit of unavoidable travel for me very excited about uh the invitation I’ve received to be a part of kind of the ver the first days for Utopia of the Seas Royal Caribbean our good friend Kaye Manzel going to help man the coverage in this 10 o’clock hour for all the events in Dallas for SEC media day so you can watch that with her you can hear that on our dog Nation daily podcast feed so really fun stuff coming up but the point is SEC media days has arrived it is next week now when we’re chatting about this event and things like that one of the things that usually comes up in the summer is okay well who’s going to be there you know and we can bring that down if you want to like who’s going to be there and um you know who the Georgia Representatives going to be and so when I’ve been asked about that or we’ve been talking about that I guessed two of the three pretty easily Carson Beck it’s fairly obvious that Georgia would be sending him to SEC media days Georgia when it has an established starting quarterback does not really have a problem sending that quarterback some programs a little slow to sometimes want to send quarterback Georgia typically speaking if it’s got an established starter is sort of okay with that also it always brings sort of its top leader on defense whoever that might be you know the most established vocal and onfield leader that’s usually a rubber stamp for you know who you know is going to be there for Georgia pretty easy to put Malachi Starks there at that spot for Georgia the third spot though I would say is typically sort of reserved often times for like that leader Ong the offensive line in fact Let me give this to you if you want to go back to last year it was Brock Bowers Kamari lter and Cedric Von PR he didn’t have the established starting quarterback Carson Beck hadn’t be hadn’t started that Journey yet for ug so Bowers as the overall best player on the team kind of got the offensive nod Kamari lter established leader on defense he goes and then the veteran offensive lineman Cedric Von pra who would have been about the easiest selection you could ever make what I did not remember apparently I don’t know how often this has happened but according to my research van pran also went in 2022 there as well I’m not really quite so sure how many guys have been to back-to-back SEC media days but van pran went in 2022 and 2023 for whatever reason I didn’t quite remember that but that did happen SVP in both those years also in 2022 it was the established starting quarterback Stetson Bennett and it was the kind of the key vocal leader on defense Nolan Smith it’s that’s kind of the template that Georgia uses in 2021 we were still kind of in the weirdness of the pandemic you only had two that year it was JT Daniels and Jordan Davis but going back to 2019 Jake from established starting quarterback by the way he’ll join us here in a few minutes on today’s show the established leader on defense Jr Reid and then the big leader on the offensive line Andrew Thomas that’s sort of the template that Georgia has quarterback if it’s an established starter key leader on defense and most important offensive lineman that’s who Georgia typically sends so this year my guess would have been Georgia would have sent Beck it would sent Malachi Starks and I would have assumed that Georgia would have sent Tate rid I don’t think it’s any kind of knock on Tate that he’s not going but the fact that this year instead of sending that offensive lineman like an Andrew Thomas or a Cedric Von prong Granger or someone like that the fact that Georgia is sending Mel Williams I gotta tell you I find that to be a little bit interesting I find that to be the kind of thing that I think ought to be a little bit intriguing to ug fans because if Williams is getting this nod and even though it’s probably a little bit of a hassle to have to put on the suit and fly out there and answer all these questions and get microphone stuck in your face even though it’s probably a little bit of a hassle to have to do this if you’re one of the Georgia players it’s also sort of viewed as an honor there as well that you are either expected to be a very good player which obviously we would think is the case for Mel but also someone who is also stepping up in a big leadership way there as well so I got to tell you you know I told you a moment ago sometimes I’m a little guilty of reading too much into things and sometimes I’m a little guilty of sort of seeing too much between the lines as opposed to the just sort of this the stated facts of the matter but I find it to be pretty compelling here just given the potential that Williams has as a player I find it to be pretty compelling here that George is tabbing him as one of the three players it’s bringing to SEC media days because based on the sort of established template this isn’t typically kind of what Georgia does in some of this and it could be perhaps a very significant foreshadowing of what could be a phenomenal season for Mel where by the time it’s all said and done he might be the number one overall draft pick or something along those lines obviously he is expecting a big year for himself if you want to go back to the start of spring practice you know he saw some of that and kind of how he performed against Florida state in the bowl game but also that chance to have a little bit of an evolution of his position not just a Trayvon Walker clone someone who puts his hand on the ground plays the defensive end spot but also a guy that can stand up and play an edge Rush position like outside linebacker and even with you know pretty impressive size utilizes overall athleticism that part of the excitement and the interest around Mel Williams here this year is sort of based on the fact that uh that Williams got a new position and perhaps a renewed emphasis by the Georgia defensive coaching staff to get the most out of Williams what we expect to be his final year on campus this is what Mel said about that going back to the spring basically with my game this year um I’m I’m basically trying to improve my hands my hand speed my pad level my get off is there really the certain things that I’m going to need to be successful at this position and at the same position uh I kind of envisioned it looking something similar to the Florida State game where I was playing a little bit more outside line backer there uh it’s something that that’s in the making I kind of like outside linebacker because it shows my versatility like if you if you play attention to our game sometimes I even Rush the guard at 3tech from me being from me being able to move from a three all way out to a n te it just shows my vers my versatility and how can it display until the next level one of the best things about being a Georgia fan is when you’re in this time of year and you’re kind of thinking about what the upcoming season can be there are obviously so many Georgia players on both sides of the ball that have the potential of being like breakout stars and you know guys that could be household names by the end of the season obviously on a talented roster like this they’re going to be no shortage of players for whom that could be true but one of the points we try to make on a fairly you know continual basis around here is there are some Players whose potential breakout would be more valuable than others there are some positions that are just what we think of as premium positions and if Mel Williams really is one of the three most important players on this team and being selected to be a part of SEC mediat with suggest there’s at least a chance that is uh the case if Williams does truly turn out to be one of the three most important players in this team that probably speaks really well overall for what Georgia has a chance to be this season not just defensively but in the overall success of this team overall because in 2023 I would say that one of the things that was missing from Georgia you probably agree with this one of the things that was missing was that overall level of kind of like Dynamic play from the you know wellestablished playmaker defensively Georgia didn’t have quite as much of that in 2023 still a very good defense obviously Georgia’s always going to produce one but it was sort of missing that spark that maybe Jaylen Carter would have provided in 2022 or so many different players could have perhaps provided in 2021 there just a little bit of that missing from Georgia uh this past season and Williams athletically is clearly the one that has a chance to provide that in 2024 plus there’s also the thought of if we really do think of him as an outside linebacker now this is also that one position that over the course of time Georgia probably hasn’t unlocked the potential at outside linebacker probably quite as much as it has the other position groups especially on defense even in a year like 2022 when Georgia had a guy like Nolan Smith who became a first round pick Nolan did that despite being injured for a lot of the key games of the 2022 season that Georgia just has a level of achievement at the outside linebacker Edge rusher spot that it probably hasn’t completely unlocked yet and yet Williams gives them a chance to do that here this year someone else who I think believes this is probably Kirby Smart because if you want to go back to after gday back in April Kirby kind of looked back on the spring that Mel had had and the groundwork he had laid at that time for the kind of season he might be ready to have this fall this is what Kirby said back then first and foremost he’s been um the right word president and he’s been able to practice he is not he had spring practice last year he missed some practices he had fall Camp last year he missed some practices and I explained to him you know if you want to have a really good year you want to have a really good camp he’s kind of bought into that like practicing good makes you better intent it’s not his fault in Badger but you can’t play good if you don’t practice so I thought that he had a really good screen from a standpoint of leadership uh toughness uh and he didn’t get a ton of reps I mean the guy’s been a two-year starter but um it’ll be you know a chance to get Tai more reps when we come back in the fall continue to to increase Joseph jent J and then Justin Green so we got some defensive ends can spell him but he was a he was a factor today so there you go Kirby Smart sort of talking about Williams both in terms of his ability just be out there but also kind of thinking of him also still as a little bit of a defensive end too whether it’s defensive end whether it’s outside linebacker Williams has a chance to be a phenomenal player for Georgia this year and if he truly unleashes his full potential on the rest of the teams that Georg is playing here this upcoming season it could be a very good thing for the dogs and perhaps all of this foreshadowed by the fact that he’s going to SEC media days I found that selection by Kirby Smart and the dogs be pretty interesting SEC media days comes up next week with that said let me shift gears and talk about this here for a moment yesterday Georgia also made a completely different announcement of a completely different stripe and I think this is kind of fun and this is not a commercial because I don’t work for Georgia but I I did find this to be very intriguing that Georgia is inviting all of those who join the classic City Collective we’ll put this on the screen for you to see if you’re watching on video for those that that join the classic City Collective which is the nil collective in Georgia um what Kirby Smart says on the xplatform is calling all dog fans join the class classic City Collective and gain complimentary tickets to our private practice on August 4th the graphic here says the classic City Collective invites you to a Georgia football Private Practice join the classic City Collective for complimentary tickets now a couple of things about this thing number one is this is that for a while now Georgia’s had the thing where if you were in the McGill Society you got that one summer practice you got a chance to see as a part of the mill Society now that’s a fair L expensive proposition I want to say some of yall know better than me McGill is what $25,000 over the course of either is it three years four years I think it’s three years 25 $25,000 we got a little bit of sound coming through there $25,000 given over the course of three years I think is what it cost to be in the McGill society which gives you chance to see practice on the flip side nowhere near as expensive to join the classic City Collective it’s a much more I believe cost effective type of thing and yet you would get a chance to see this Georgia practice so you know far be it for me to tell you what to do with your money especially at the time in which money is kind of tight for some people but if you do have the means to do this this is probably the most costeffective way you’d ever have to be able to see a Georgia practice and you have the added benefit of knowing your kind of uh aiding georg’s nil efforts there as well I think this is really creative and I guess the other point I’d make about this here for a moment is you know we’re now a few years into the so-called n iil age and I think a lot of people are still kind of making peace with what name image likeness Revenue kind of means for what they’ve always sort of loved about college football and that’s a fair conversation and kind of a fair thought process I think that people are right to kind of go through that at their own way in their own way but I think one of the things that we ought to notice are the moments in which nil has made things not just better for players but better for fans there too this to me is one of those examples where over the course of the last few years you know access to Georgia football for the average fan has just gotten harder and harder to come by when I was a kid there was picture day you could show up on the practice field you could stand around you could get autographs from anybody you wanted you could talk to any player you want I’m about really talk to him like stand there and talk to them and get you almost felt like you kind of got to know some of them it was a really interesting way to interact with Georgia football a lot of access for a young fan like myself who really really enjoyed that but to be frank the program’s just too popular now there’s just too much love for Georgia football out there right now that if you told if I came on my show and said hey this Saturday the Georgia football team is going to be on the practice field y’all come over and say hello to them there’d be hundreds of thousands of people who’d show up to see that and it would be completely unmanageable that’s just sort of the world in which we live in but the nil age does give you a chance to regain some of that access you do have a little more opportunity to sometimes get autographs you see some of these guys doing their own podcast interview from time to time and I think that’s pretty interesting uh you get a chance now with a fairly cost-effective way at least I’m assuming it is a fairly costeffective way to be a part of a Georgia practice and see the kind of thing that you you typically wouldn’t get to see and that the media folks almost never get to see you kind of have you know some of that access right now so if you’re a fan I think you should pay attention to this and once again not everybody can afford to participate in the nil and be a part of the classic City Collective and I totally understand that but if you do have some means you’re kind of wondering you know when should I spend some money on Georgia football it’s kind of a pretty good time to do it Georgia is in the midst of a big time run uh getting as close to that as you can while all this is happening especially knowing that some of these games are very expensive to travel to maybe the next best thing for you is kind of seeing a unique sort of practice environment before the season begins it’s not for everybody and frankly for some people it’ll be too hot they don’t even want to be out there watching all of that but if you do it’s kind of a cool opportunity and we at least wanted to sh out the fact that Georgia seems to be trying to get prettyy creative in the ways in which it’s trying to raise some of these nil dollars and we would say that’s probably worth saluting my name is Brandon Adams and this is dog the former Georgia quarterback Jake Fran now we just talked a little bit about SEC media days Jake was a representative for Georgia back in 2019 we’ll talk to Jake about the experience of SEC media days is like we’ll do that with him coming up in a little bit we’ll also kind of shift it around and we’ll do our cruising around the SEC segment prior to speaking to Jake from and on that coming up here a few minutes we’ll look at some of the other teams and who they are sending to SEC media days because the same way we just sort of read into what does it mean for Georgia they’re sending this guy I think there’s some of that you can also do around the rest of the SEC and so we’ll get to that here coming up in just a little bit prior to that though let’s go around the dogghouse around the doghouse presented today by our friends at Georgia safe retirement planners now we have been an incredible run here as of late when it comes to Georgia recruiting including yesterday Georgia adding two prospects John Jackson is the name we talked about during our show yesterday really good stuff from John stinchcomb kind of breaking down both the reasons why a big-time Prospect like Jackson might have a chance to really be successful at Georgia obviously 6’1 and 3 something pounds but also the challenge of someone who really hasn’t played very much football at all and being so tall a little bit kind of outside the box of what a normal Prospect might be I thought J’s evaluation of Jackson yes yesterday was really interesting and it’s worth your time to go seek that out if you did not get a chance to see yesterday’s show but in addition to that yesterday afternoon Georgia also added Jaylen Morgan the fourstar safety from out of the uh middle part of Tennessee and uh Jeff Cel our dog Nation recruiting Insider had a story up yesterday uh kind of I guess sort of retelling the events of the Morgan commitment to UG and Morgan in the story and an interview you can also see on the dog Nation YouTube page kind of talked about what the message uh to him from Georgia was I want to show you this a little bit on the screen uh he says their message to me was and by the way when it comes to the their message this is new Georgia D Vin backs coaches Dante Williams and also uh Travaris Robinson yesterday we gave Williams a lot of credit for the work that he did bringing in Shamari ears it sounds like Williams was also a factor here for Morgan and T Rob who’s going to be kind of the position coach for Morgan for the most part they Georgia he’s getting a lot of credit for this too so the same way that Dante Williams has kind of made himself at home at Georgia and this coaching staff by winning with Shamari Earl it seems like in some respects t- Rob will kind of also be that guy as it relates to J Jaylen Morgan but nonetheless Morgan telling Jeff centel that these uh T Rob and Dante Williams their message to me was I could play the strong safety the free safety and the nickel spot uh as they call the star position because of my versatility Jeff writing that he chose the Bulldogs over a final Group which included Florida Old Miss and Mississippi State we remember that graphic from yesterday uh as far as what’s stuck out about Georgia to him he said it’s because of my versatility and I have got the grades and I fit the mold not only physically but mentally uh because everybody can find somebody that can run jump and do all the athletic stuff but somebody that understands the game uh mentally is hard to find and uh he the George coaching staff feels that they can find that in me which is a really interesting thing for Morgan to say and obviously the potential of kind of continuing what has been an amazing run for Georgia at the safety position Malachi Starks this year will be one of the best you know safeties in America regardless of position you know Lewis cen’s a former first round draft pick Richard Lan obviously had a great career at ug mentioned J.R Reed a moment ago he became an All-American at Georgia after being a unheralded transfer coming to this program from Tulsa you can cite a lot of examples of great safety success in Georgia and obviously Morgan has a chance to kind of be the next in line potentially on all of that at some point in time in the future and while we’re on kind of this subject it also kind of I think highlights one of the reasons why safety this year for ug is going to be one of the most intriguing positions on the field overall you know Morgan mentioned the sort of Versatility that says hey maybe I’m a strong safety or a free safety I’m also maybe a Nickelback you know that’s what we’re saying about Janelle and Aguero right now too the Nickelback position was played at a very high level year ago by Tae Smith uh this year that guy might be Aguero came to Georgia as a safety maybe kind of finding a home as a Nickelback or the star as Georgia calls it here this year not only that I mean some of the major Buzz coming out of the dogs program here this summer is probably not totally unexpected but KJ Balon a big five-star flip recruiting win right there on Signing Day for Georgia back in December that’s a guy who could be in line for some early playing time here this season a lot of Rumblings and grumblings there about that so there’s a lot of energy right now at Georgia around the safety position for the Intrigue of what it could be on the field this year or guys that were brought into play safety maybe some of the versatile ways that could be used on the field this season there as well and it certainly sounds like Jaylen Morgan was watching a lot of that on his way to choosing the dogs either way the Morgan story here is just the latest in a line of ug recruiting wins where the momentum is really starting to mount for this class of 2020 dogs picked up two prospects yesterday albeit in the case of Jackson someone who will be a part of the 2024 class but nonetheless and a recruiting ad for Georgia and a lot of eyes towards the rest of this month as some of the groundwork late in June some of that fruit starts to uh bear here in the month of July really good time to be a Georgia fan and really really fun right now to be observing ug recruiting and that is around the doghouse today presented by our friends at Georgia safe retirement planners and obviously we so a little bit different for us it’s a guest here coming up in a few minutes that’s the former George quarterback Jake FR I’m really excited about talking to Jake here on the program today but prior to that we told you before who Georgia is bringing SEC media days how about Georgia’s competition in the SEC who are they taking to Dallas next week and what do we learn from those decisions let’s find out all of that as we go cruising around the SEC courtesy of Royal Caribbean let’s take a look around the rest of the League this is secr so next week as much as it pains me to admit I will not be in Dallas for SEC media days I am though going to be taking a very fantastic trip I’m going to get a chance to be on board Utopia of the Seas brand new ship debuting for Royal Caribbean can’t wait to be on board can’t wait to see it for myself and can’t wait to come back and tell all of you about it there as well by the way one of the things and you if you’re watching a video you just saw this um they’ve done some cool stuff with some of the water slides they’re on board uh Utopia of the seas in some respects they’ve made them faster they’ve kind of added more like of the sort of the open air part or at least the the uh the transparent part so you can see out as you’re kind of on these slides and they go a little faster now they’ve made the ultimate Abyss which is the dry slide tallest slide at C they’ve made that um a little faster a little bigger there as well so with every new ship Royal kon’s always trying to like up the ante on something and in this particular particular ship uh a couple of the examples of the upgrades the amplifications they’ve made uh a little faster water slides a little bit more creative into how the water slides are kind of constructed and also a big addition to the ultimate Abyss to make that slide even larger than it’s been before so a lot of fun to be had on board and of course it’s the same ship we’re all going to be sailing on in April for our dog Nation cruise we want you to be a part of that and we have a great travel agent who’s helping us plan all of that out in fact uh she’s the one you need to know to plan your trip on ourg Nation Cruise or any other Royal Caribbean cruise vacation you want to take our good friend Jessica Slater you can give her a call 7771 18914 that’s 7771 18914 you can also find her online by emailing her J Slater atream vacations.com one more time that’s J Slater at dream vacations.com all right let’s talk here before we bring on Jake from about who is and some cases who isn’t coming to SEC media days and what ends up being pretty interesting here is it’s the it’s who’s bringing a quarterback and who’s not for instance no surpris that Jaylen milro is going to be coming to SEC media days for Alabama perhaps no surprise there on that maybe a little bit of a surprise that pton Thorne is in trenched enough there at Auburn that he gets a chance to come sort of speaking to I think what we see about Hugh frees going into his second year where it looked like Auburn perhaps had some nil money to spend but as hu fre has just said I didn’t see a million quarterback out there so therefore they’re kind of riding with Thorn here for the upcoming season after a pretty lackluster 2023 Auburn one of those teams that is bringing a quarterback Florida is also bringing its quarterback uh Graham Ms and this is one of those deals when obviously we don’t like the lousy stinging Gators we don’t pretend otherwise but trying to be as objective as I can here a little bit Merz is one of those guys that’s going to probably be facing a fairly interesting slate of questions here at media days cuz on the one hand you know merch did not really have a bad year last year you know Graham merch was a fairly unspectacular player at Wisconsin prior to coming to Florida but a year ago you know one of the I guess somewhat meager success stories for Billy apier was he got a pretty good year out of Ms but the most popular player on the Florida roster this year Bar None will be the backup quarterback DJ lagway it’s kind of an old cliche in sports at the backup quarterback is the most popular player but in this particular case you know lague really is the only only source of Hope for Florida so you kind of wonder how many questions Merz who himself had a good enough year to be invited at media days here this year how many questions MZ ends up Fielding about DJ lagway you sort of you sort of wonder that uh that’s one of the deals it’s kind of a similar thing for Quinn uers who’s also coming to SEC media days you know uers and we talked about this with Jake from last week ERS could be the number one overall pick in the NFL draft he could be the Heisman Trophy winner but man Arch Manning Loom so large even more so than lagway at Florida Manning looms there at Texas it’ll be a very interesting counter if you’re watching some of the media stuff related with ERS especially when it’s the scrum stuff how many of those questions end up being about Manning as opposed to something involving ERS who by the way last year was in the college football playoffs uh Kentucky one of the teams not bringing quarterback even though Brock Vandergriff is you know thought to be the guy there not being the official I guess named starter yet vandagriff not coming with Kentucky although LSU is bringing Garrett uh nus and this sort of speaks what we’ve been saying for a while you know we kind of jumped the gun on nus Meer last year not realizing the kind of season that Jaden Daniel was going to prove capable of of of producing Daniels obviously was a sort of a record setting quarterback won the Heisman Trophy but a year ago we were saying that we thought that nus me was a good quarterback if we thought that then obviously we still think that now and so nus me’s going to have a chance to be that guy for LSU getting the attention of being there Brady cook is coming with Missouri Luther Burton is there as well and for all the talk about what Missouri can be this year I think one of the things you have to consider is the fact that Burton may be the single most dynamic playmaker in the entire SEC Bar N Oklahoma’s bringing Jackson Arnold we’ve said before that Arnold may be one of those guys that’s a lot more wellknown by the end of the year than he is here right now uh that could really become a household name interesting though that Tennessee is not bringing its quarterback Nico eala he’s is the starter he’s sort of big nil guy but only played as a starter anyway in one game here thus far so maybe not maybe not fully established enough yet to be brought to Media days sort of an interesting decision there by uh Tennessee so it’s next week obviously there’s a lot to be said about that we’ll be watching all of that uh very closely a lot of SEC media days coverage including in the 10 a.m. hour next week as I’m on board Utopia the Seas Kaylee Manzel going to be anchoring our coverage kind of looking all the stuff there in Dallas there on that and for the very first time ever we’re actually going to put that on our podcast feed just because of the fact that you know there’s stuff happening and one of those deals where it just didn’t really make sense to have pre-recorded shows when there would be you know to at least a certain extent news breaking around SEC media days uh with that you know going on we did want to kind of put that on out on our uh podcast feed for next week so really fun stuff there on that uh media days has sort of arrived which means the 2024 season for all intents and purposes has arrived there as well let me tell you what else has arrived it’s our good friend Jake from it’s time for a Kroger fresh take is welcoming Jake to the program here today on dog Nation daily Jake we always appreciate your time always fun to get a chance to talk to you thanks for being here on the show here today Brandon is always glad to be here on the show so we briefly mentioned this uh to kick things off back in 2019 you went to SEC media days I think you and I talked about this last year but uh what’s that like because you were always pretty comfortable with the media obviously you do a great job on these interviews here right now speaking has never been a problem for you man put the suit and tie on you got a lot of microphones there in your face you’re sort of moving from one thing to the next how either comfortable or uncomfortable is it to go and attend an event like SEC media days when you’re ask so many questions some of them are probably a little bit weird what was that experience like for you when you did that yeah I think the whole experience is it is what you make it you know if you’re comfortable in your own skin um and you know for me I just I always wanted to come off as authentic and genuine and real um and so I was just going to kind of go out there and be myself and so there’s no like Persona or face that I had to put on and make sure that I you know I had on for those four hours hey what what you saw with me is is is what it is and that’s what you get so um for me I always really enjoy it um you know sometimes some questions uh were just kind of weird off the wall but uh I mean for the most part man there’s some really good really good people who do some really good work and um man when they when they make it fun it really becomes an enjoyable experience would you say that generally speaking the average player would view that as an honor of oh gosh I got picked to go to SEC media days that’s kind of cool or is a little bit of a hassle of why do I have to go why can’t so and so go instead of me behind the scenes which would you say is the more kind of prevalent point of view on that yeah I I said it’s pretty split hairs 5050 of uh exactly what you get um you know some guys uh see it as a burden that they have to go and and do media uh where other guys uh see it as an opportunity to to miss out on workouts and seven on seven that day so it just kind of depends on what what side of the spectrum you’re going to get um but for me I always saw it as an honor and a privilege um to be able to do that to represent uh my team the university uh and my family and and myself as well so um it’s a it’s a big honor and and a big responsibility and I think when just from what I know from Kirby and strategically of who he picks to go um he’s he’s picking leaders um that he wants to be developed throughout the entire football season and guys that that he respects a lot so um I I think it is a big honor and a privilege so I want to talk to you more about that part of this here in a moment let me ask you one more kind of logistics related question on this so Kirby and the coaches do this sort of thing all the time when they’re recruiting things like that but when you went there was that is that the first time in your life you’d ever flown somewhere stayed for a little bit and then turned around and flown back because that’s the kind of thing that the average person doesn’t do very much you know most of us when we travel we’re staying overnight we’re not really doing the kind of pop in pop out type thing coaches do that all the time and obviously like business people kind of do that kind of thing was that the first time in your life you’d ever done kind of the Whirlwind plane trip get there you know kind of glad hand a little bit turn around and kind of fly back have you ever done anything like that before yeah growing up in in Middle Georgia um um uh in Warner Robbins uh you don’t really get too many opportunities to to go out on private jets very much so uh yeah you definitely felt like you were in that that that upper echelon that upper class uh of life and um you know tried to tried to soak it up and and enjoy it a little bit you’re like wow this uh this feels good and uh maybe if we work our work our tail off enough uh maybe we can uh enjoy this a little bit more but it it was definitely definitely a treat uh in an eye opening experience for sure I would imagine that it would be and the point that you made a moment ago was also the kind of thing was thinking about so before you joined us we’re talking about okay so this year Georgia sending malikai Starks very easy to understand why most sort of established vocal leader on defense one of the best players in the country of course that’s the case when Georgia has an established starting quarterback it has typically sort of sent him as well you went uh Stetson went in 2022 the fact that Carson’s going no real surprise I thought it was really interesting that Mel Williams is going because the point I’m you know making Jake is is listen if Mel ends up being one of the three most important players in this team which he very easily could do but if he ends up being one of the three most important players in this team that’s really really good for Georgia because if he unlocks his full athletic potential maybe it’s leadership potential or just whatever potential he has this year if he unlocks all of that here this season man I think that’s the sky the limit being for Georgia you know what do you make of I guess Kirby kind of voluntarily putting this Spotlight on Mel ahead of such a big week and then ahead of such a big season yeah so I love the way you you you you put it all in perspective here you know Malachi he’s earned it he’s deserved it that’s a no-brainer Carson no-brainer there and Mel here this is a uh hey Michael hey I’m gonna I’m going to give you this and and I want you to take ownership of this and and Elevate yourself as a leader on this football team so um hopefully he he takes ownership of that takes on that role and uh and wants to become a really really impactful player on this football team this year because he is he is gifted um you know he he he’s got the height he’s got the length speed um got great hands in in and out of it so um a great football player and um I think this is just a a a step in the development um for him this fall and um if he’s going to be a good football player this fall for us yeah and it’s one of those things obviously you can’t nitpick too much with the success that George has had but it’s sort of weird in the fact that this year Williams May stand up and play outside linebacker a little bit more it’s probably the one spot that Georgia hasn’t fully Unleashed all of the potential the program has it’s had great first round defensive lineman including a number one overall pick it’s had multiple buckus award-winning linebackers secondary it’s had you know Thorp Award winners and you know the you know completely dominant secondaries when it comes to the edge rushing outside linebacker even when Nolan was a first round pick in 2022 is actually injured for a good bit that year we probably didn’t see the best of him it’s almost like the final frontier for Georgia defensively is creating the sort of standup Edge rushing outside linebacker that’s the equal of some of the best players that Georgia’s had at other positions and I think that’s one of the things about this year’s Georgia defense that I think could be really fascinating you agree with that yeah no I agree and I think it comes a lot down to to the scheme of the defense um and and not necessarily always being in that that four down rush the quarterback kind of front um it’s a lot of of of pushing the pocket from the interior and two gapping a lot of things so they got a lot of different roles and responsibilities and setting an edge rather than just saying hey pin your ears back and go Rush the quarterback so it’s kind of tough that’s why you see maybe you know development maybe at the next level uh of of more production at the next level than you you do on Saturdays uh for for Georgia and I think that really kind of comes down to to scheming what they’re asking these guys to do um but as far as ability the ability is there um I think it just comes down to a lot situationally and scheme wise this a little bit of an off-the-wall question but we also talked about this today there as well which is so George is going to have a practice in August 4th and if you’re in the classic City Collective like if you’re one of the members one of the if you’re one of the fans that donates classic City Collective you’re G get a chance to go see the practice and Jake I think this is a really cool thing for both Georgia and its fans because look if you’re a fan you’re asked to spend money on a lot of things buying the tickets that’s getting more expensive you’re going to make a big donation to get the tickets obviously really expensive travel to go to these games to the playoff now is going to have an extra week of travel and if you’re a really big Georgia fan that’s also pretty expensive too and on top of that for now you know the thought is okay we also need you to contribute to our nil fund too not just at Georgia but all the programs are kind of deal dealing with that and the point that I’ve made is okay well if you’re going to give to nil what do you get for that other than just the satisfaction of hey I’m helping my team win well getting a chance to see a practice is a real legitimate value in exchange for making the nil donation so I love the fact that George is doing this this is not a commercial you know we don’t work for Georgia here but I do think it’s kind of a cool thing and I love the fact that now if you’re willing to give some nil dollars over to Georgia and it’s not a huge sum of money I don’t believe but if you’re willing to give some nil dollars over to Georgia they’re willing to give you a pretty cool incentive for doing that getting a chance to watch practice this is pretty creative by George is it not yeah I mean we’re we’re selling tickets to practice you know and it’s it’s base idea and principle um I I mean I like it I I think so much as a as a consumer uh of of of this and and football and especially as fans you know we we we’re going for the experience right we’re going for the experience and and that’s what they’re offering they’re offering a different and unique experience uh that quite frankly a lot of people just don’t get to have and uh I I like that angle and um man they’re they’re looking at at all the different opportunities they can uh to find a and a dollar to raise money for nil because quite frankly that’s that’s how we’re getting the talent nowadays yeah no doubt about that we got more Jake FR here coming up in just a moment let me remind you though this is our Kroger fresh take with Jake from here today and by the way if you want to get the best out of your summer experience that means putting stuff on the grill that means putting stuff in the cooler that means all the things that make summer so much fun get the great savings on all of that at your local Kroger and have the boost membership option there as well you can find out all about this and have that great experience in store or online at kroger.com for a lot more on that that is kroger.com as Kroger brings our Kroger fresh tick with Jake from here today so Jake I don’t know if you saw this I know you’ve been busy Georgia added a pretty interesting player yesterday his name is Ja Jackson uh very good basketball player at one point in time does not have a lot of foot experience but he’s going to be uh he’s essentially an incoming freshman right now A 2024 Prospect he’s 6’1 he’s like 345 pounds going to be an offensive tackle obviously athletic enough to kind of wow Georgia on the spot we talked to John stinko about this a little bit yesterday and obviously John you know knows this well being an offensive tackle himself but what an intriguing Prospect right of someone who clearly athletic enough that he almost could have been an NBA draft pick now transitioning to football impressing these GE your coaches uh sounds like really high upside but also a little bit of challenge about how you learned to play the sport when you didn’t really grow up necessarily doing that this is a pretty intriguing offer going out by ug is it not man I I I think this is a an incredible opportunity I mean the NFL kind of does this you know already with with potential and they’re looking at ceilings and and having a lot of disregard for for floors uh for young players and you know why why not you have talent there that that can go in and play and and do their job uh why why not take a chance on on a young man who’s just got unbelievable measurements and uh I I I think this is going to be really cool and really fun uh to to follow along to see if this young man can do it but um I mean just just the the sheer size alone being able to to get in the way uh I think it it may come down to hey can the can your quarterback see over around and through this guy um I I that that’s definitely going to come up and uh you know if he’s playing right tackle or left tackle um you might have you might be seeing a lot more quick throws to to the opposite side of the young man just just because there’s no way there’s no way to find your guys well I tell you this one of our uh audience members also brought this up too you know one of the single biggest moments that happened while you’re playing in Georgia was Lorenzo Carter blocking that field goal against Oklahoma long arms you know great athlete getting up in the air knocking that down I mean Jackson could end up being a huge fan favorite just by doing that kind of stuff right because if you’re 610 dunking easily you could a real V in the Special Teams and honestly if he came here and did that for four years a lot of Georgia fans would think that was time well spent and he’d be a huge fan favored just by impacting the Special Teams part of all this absolutely you know I hadn’t put eyes on him yet seen him move I mean there’s no telling how athletic this guy is uh based on his basketball background um and and what he can do and the different things he can do so you know like I said if he’s athletic enough to go and and block kicks um that’s that’s a completely different conversation about what he offers and brings to the table um yeah it’s going to be fun to watch and fun to keep up with well Jake I appreciate your Insight on all this and of course everything related to Georgia football such a fun conversation be able to have we’ll look forward to speaking to you soon here as a part of krer fresh dognation [Music] maybe one of these days joh Jackson might be one for ug but someone who’s already a terrific offensive lineman for Georgia right now is apparently doing his work to get even better and that’s the subject of our golden shoe here today our buddy George on Tab sent this to me sends all kinds of good stuff to us around here he says EG getting at work in with a goat the EG in this case is Ernest grein who has a chance to be a first round pick in the upcoming NFL draft perhaps big season on tap for him doing some work with Willie Anderson now Willie Anderson you’ll know in addition being a former uh terrific player with the Cincinnati Bengals also former Auburn Tiger there as well I’ve met Willie Anderson a few times super nice guy uh terrific football player obviously and the Deep South’s oldest rivalry here not preventing uh some hard work from being done there as well Anderson helping out green in this uh particular case so we love Ernest Green we’re excited about a big season for him love to see him working out hard right now appreciate Willie Anderson doing that with him that is our golden shoe to Georgia ontap for sharing all that with us lousy stinking Gators they can work all summer if they want to but I’m not sure it’s going to make much of a difference once the actual games are played because they’re a mess right now it’s been 1340 days since they’ve beaten the Georgia Bulldogs that is our Gator hater updator we hope you all have a great day see you back here tomorrow dog Nation daily presented by serpro and on video time now for the RS Andrews cool Dam RS Andrews one you turn two for your air conditioning heating Plumbing electric needs they show up on time they do the work that’s promised the price that’s promised you can trust them on all of that today we did something unimaginably different for us to begin Today’s Show we took some comments off the top so if you missed that you missed a lot uh I just kind of wanted to do that just sort of hey you never know we just might just do anything at a moment’s notice you never know uh so we did that off the top of the show here today and now we’ll we’ll give you the traditional comments uh but we probably will not do a you know crazy a lot we got a lot going on there’s a lot happening a lot happening all right uh let us see what else on the YouTube side of things here for a moment Johnny surf on the subject of Justice hannes I think that ha’s gonna be interesting for uh Alabama this year they didn’t use him very much a year ago and I really thought that Justice watching him a lot in high school when he was at Blessed Trinity I thought he was good and obviously a a major Prospect perhaps was playing on a better team or whatever else I thought that he was extraordinary in his final year when he played for Buford like to the point of he had a little bit of a burst and a wiggle that I don’t know that I had seen from him before now maybe it was there I just didn’t notice it but I just thought that I thought that Haynes had the look at Buford of a kind of running back that could have really made a being impact as a freshman Alabama year ago just didn’t use him very much and so much so that I thought he might transfer this offseason I mean that was not you know because of inside information just speculating I wonder if you know Haynes might be a guy that might want to leave and go somewhere else because he clearly wasn’t used very much a year ago well he didn’t he stayed at Alabama and seeing how he’s used this year I do think could’ be pretty interesting I do uh let’s see what else cro King says my big question for bam is going to be scheme and mentality talent’s going to be fine for a while how is the transition to the SCC going to work for dor schemes think that’s going to be big I agree with that and obviously you know kayin deor thought to be a a sharp offensive mind you understand where that reputation sort of comes from that’s you know that’s all true um and as I said before if you think about what the average tenure for SEC coaches five six years something like that I think it stands to reason that the most set up for success that Alabama ever will be is right now because they’re still going to have a blue chip ratio this year of 80 something percent they’ve got a quarterback in place who’s been to the college football playoff you know Alabama kind of has a good bit going for itself here right now um I know they’re going gang busters and recruiting here right now but you got to be able to do that over like a period of multiple years uh to sort of replenish the current roster as it is right now I think for kayin deor going to probably prove difficult because I believe it would prove difficult for anybody I I think it’s fairly easy to assume that there has been a real significant offering play past around in tuscalo I’m not being snarky when I say this when you’re having this kind of recruiting success as much as Alabama is at the moment well you’re I mean you’re not doing that for you know people aren’t just doing that out of the goodness of their heart same thing when Georgia has other recruiting wins you know there’s there’s a price to be paid for that uh here right now and you know I think a lot of Alabama fans is or Alabama boosters it’s easy to imagine they’ve been told hey we need you to dig deep and help our guy get started here and so that’s exactly what’s happened and then after that it’s going to be on dor to sort of maintain that once the early momentum begins and whether it’s kayin dbor or if it would have been Mike norell if it would have been Dan Lanning or if it would have been anybody you know kind of once once you’re given the push to get you started finding your own momentum after that is going to be a challenge for whoever it is in this case it’s caylin abor who sort of tasked with that uh Jonathan Aaron says he was reading an article about uh Co and the hot seat and he says our friend Sun Bel Billy was the number one name on the list I don’t think there’s any doubt that’s true and I mean I think that there is a real souring I mean you get the impression there’s a there’s a real souring around nap Europe at Florida and you kind of Wonder as I told you before I really didn’t make too big of a deal out of the Rashad lawsuit thing that to me sort of seemed like kind of you know kind of funny because you know hey he was suing Billy Napier personally and supposedly Kirby Smart gave it his Blessing there were some elements of that story that made it kind of funny at first but in terms of being kind of hot thing that we spent a whole bunch of time talking about you know once we kind of got over the initial you know stuff related to it you know we sort of moved off of it but there are some people in Florida who treated that as a pretty big deal and you could sort of imagine there may be enough there that the people that don’t want Napier at Florida might be able to use that against him if he a either promised rot at something he knew he couldn’t promise or he stood by While others promised something to him that that he knew wasn’t real you could sort of see how that could potentially be used against Napier if they wanted to now if nap’s winning you know 12 games well all that stuff sort of magically goes away but there’s a lot of stuff that can end up being a tool to be used if you want to and that may end up being the thing there for him uh see what else uh stick D says George’s defense stop Bama running game pair with the running quarterback couldn’t stop it last year as I said before and you know we’ll obviously see what happens when the actual games are played I personally thought that George was too differential to um to Jaylen milro a year ago but we’ll see uh how that plays out here this year um by the way Tay’s feeling good about what Dylan Bell’s gonna be able to do Frank Patterson said that I hear uh fine bomb’s comments on Shane Beamer I did not uh what did he say I did I hear that bmax says I wonder if this is on dog nation.com I wonder if Rashad makes on the field this year yeah the battle to be the backup quarterback you know whether it’s gunar Stockton or Jaden rashada I think I probably favor Gunner still on that but the backup to be the I’m sorry the battle to be the backup quarterback it’s going to be a pretty fast ending and obviously one of the main you know I guess sort of reasons for importance when it comes to something like that is because it’s the inside track on being the next starter the same way that Carson backck would have used that in the 2022 season so DT is having hip replacement surgery DT I hope that goes well um best of luck to you on that and keep us updated please uh bmac wants to see Georgia bring the pressure against Alabama this year B Ma I totally agree with that totally agree with that uh see what else Robert uh uh F says um a huge Florida booster really upset on Nap you’re not getting the recruits going elsewhere yeah I mean so some of this ends up being some of this ends up being like okay you miss on some recruits and then after a while I really believe and in the old days I think there was a version of this too pre n where the absence of recruiting wins ends up being evidence that the powers to be have given up on you that it’s almost like once you’re hanging on by a string they don’t want to throw good money after bad in other words you know like the recruiting win that would be good for you to be able to brag about but ultimately probably doesn’t change the overall nature of the team they’re just going to be a little bit more stingy by giving that money or in the case of we mentioned kind of Brian harson they want you gone and so therefore they’re going to stand back let you fail so they can replace you some of the lack of recruiting wins for Florida right now may be an example that what what do they call them the bullgator um the old bullgator Florida donor may have given up on Billy nap um David Wayne Carrol says hell I support Billy Napier wholeheartedly he says y’all need to keep him which is I’m sure the way a lot of Georgia fans probably feel very funny um let’s see what else Jacob O’Neal predicts that Texas will do better than the the SEC than Oklahoma I certainly believe they’re set up for more success here right now although I do sort of believe that Oklahoma may be one of the sec’s underrated teams here this year I do sort of believe that um Joseph Kennedy shouting out to Prince’s uh Batman CD I tell you 1989 that was 89 right 1989 one of the real like formative years of my life Prince doing the uh uh the Batman soundtrack that movie was such a huge deal like such a huge deal uh back when you know kids get that $10 you go to the movies you got $5 for the ticket you got $5 for concessions um uh to think that movie concessions would be $5 is pretty funny that Batman mov is a big deal Appetite for Destruction uh guns and Rose’s album big deal you know pro wrestling Golden Age baseball card super hot like hot as fire um 89 such a great year in my life I was in seventh grade in ‘ 89 um yes seventh grade in ‘ 89 uh such a big year uh bat Dan was it bat dance is that what the name of the song was bat dance um Prince on the Batman soundtrack G&R wrestling that’s WrestleMania 6 right had WrestleMania 6 had Terry Funk turning on flare and the other you know promotion 89 upper deck is out that that was such a good year such a good year um let’s see what else um K hul says can deor turn uh be turned into an SEC coach does he realize the actual hard work it takes to be successful uh compared to coaching out west yeah I mean it’s a very fair question and you know obviously Alabama’s going to try to do something here I was think about this the other day today that we’re talking about Georgia how whether it lasts five more years or 25 more years eventually Georgia will be due for a program downturn because that’s just the natural life cycle of all organizations markets just kind of move cyclically um and what Alabama’s really trying to do here in the transition to kayin to boore is to sort of avoid the natural gravitational pull of a market towards a certain cycling that that’s not an easy thing to accomplish not an easy thing to accomplish that there’s just a certain um friction there when you try to say you know for the most part Nick sabin’s success was was you know uh you know unabated you know just you know long track record for success and now kayin abor is gonna pick right up and just keep right on going man not a lot of examples of that in college football not a lot of examples um in that in college football Gerald Harman pointing out that back then the black shirt with the Batman logo on it very very big yeah that was the like it’s it’s now a cliche the sort of this is a dark you know comic book movie this is it’s dark uh but when Batman came out ‘ 89 that was the first time we ever had anything like that everything prior to that was the sort of kind of happy you know kind of friendly comic book characters that’s what Superman always been our version of Batman or vision of Batman prior to that would have been like the Adam West thing from the 60s that some of us watched on like reruns um or you know the cartoon type version of that but like the 89 Batman movie introduced the sort of idea of the kind of like sort of sort of dark kind of grizzled comic book movie which now you know a lot of people have done a lot of but it was a pretty new thing back then uh let’s see what else DT says he thinks the Texas schedule has sort of gifted them an opportunity to be in the playoff I would say it’s fair to say it’s pretty favorable um although Mike points out we talk we talked earlier in the show in our uh first and 15 about you know kind of the toughest backto back stretch for Georgia that you know for the most part the Georgia tough games are kind of spread out on the schedule it is interesting that that Texas has to play its River game against Oklahoma which Oklahoma beat him last year rivalry game against Oklahoma and its game against Georgia in back-to-back weeks I think that’s pretty interesting um Lou says that b will be a dominant uh run team but that passing game is garbage and the defense is boarding on Lincoln Riley bad yeah the other thing that I think is true about Alabama is you know last year they brought in malague b Von the junior college wide receiver he was supposed to be like the next kind of big thing for bamett wide receiver didn’t really happen you know I think one of the things we haven’t properly cataloged is the fact that a lot of that Alabama success offensively came because of an amazing streak of running I mean I’m sorry an amazing streak of wide receivers they just had such a incredible Hall there at the receiver position and obviously it seems like that group’s not quite there anymore all right final comments here yeah Tay kind of mentioned the same thing no bon no Burton those guys are gone now um let’s see what else Paul Moon very funny in here uh let’s see what else uh BM pointing out that uh you know Kirby Smart’s caused a lot of issues for a lot of the Georgia rals including thato SNY there as well even though George and Clemson aren’t always play I think that’s probably true it’s like you know geographically the two programs are very very close and when Georgia builds itself up and hoardes all those resources it is going to take from others and no doubt Clemson’s been make kind of lesser program because of that uh let us see what else anything else on Facebook here for a moment uh jonath mois says about Georgia we’ve been relevant for 20 plus years there haven’t been many seasons that were complete failures we’ve knocked on the door of success many times Rick just couldn’t get over the hump it’s hard for me to believe that we’ll ever be as bad as Florida Auburn assuming we don’t suffer from any Scandal I would probably agree with that that that some of those programs I think in Florida’s case when get bad if you mess up and do something to make it worse well now you’ve kind of created the sort of um you you’ve created sort of a timeline that that that perhaps continues that way and Auburn’s probably the same type of thing of you know make the wrong decision when things get bad you have the potential to make it worse I think that’s true even if we say okay well eventually the kind of run that George has been on eventually ends you know does it crater the way that it has for like a Florida or an Auburn we would certainly hope that’s not the case because as you point out even pre Kirby for the most part you know you know Georgia wasn’t embarrassing itself in almost any year you know top 25 level you know competitive talking about for you know for many many decades I think that’s I think that’s probably true and probably Fair um Joseph Kennedy says like clockwork Tennessee is kind of come around and think can win the SEC there is always kind of a lot of optimism this time of year from those vs fans no doubt about that um
