GTH Southgate and the and the criticism that he’s had and the fairness or otherwise of it your captain is also coming in for a lot of criticism at home could you explain as a longstanding teammate of his with England what exactly he brings to a team just as a as a player and also as your captain as a person yeah of course he brings he brings leadership firstly um and I think when he’s on the pitch you know he he makes other players feel positive I think we all feel very positive when he’s on the pitch because you know he’s our leading goal scorer um for England you know at any time he can score a goal and make that difference um so yeah he’s he’s a very important player um he’s our captain so yeah and was that just a follow up was that in Reverse how you felt when you played against him whenever you’ve played against him whether manchest United or what you know is there a certain Aur that comes with Harry Kane being on the pitch and yourself as a Defender it’s different when he’s there no of course um like I said I think he’s a worldclass player um and he is one of them players that you give him time in and around the Box he’ll score he he takes opportunities um we know that we see it day in day out in training um we know the qualities he has and what he brings for the team and you know it’s it’s really important for us that he’s on the pitch anything you remember any specific game you remember at all against him no not not any specific game I just think like I said I think we all know his his world class ability um and what what he can deliver and you know that’s important goals in important times and we know that Andy D hi just to follow on from Martin’s question I was going to ask about about Harry what’s he been like this week um you know since that game and what’s he like to lead off the pitch you know as he addressed you guys since the game um the quarterfinal and just can you sense any frustration in him having had a couple of by his standards quiet games um no I don’t sense any frustration from him um I feel like he’s the same Harry that that we have from the start of the camp nothing’s changed of course maybe in in in his opinion you know he would have liked to maybe score more goals um but n nothing’s changed he’s still very positive um of course he speaks a lot for the team you know he calls meetings speaks in meetings and you know like I said he’s our captain he’s our leader he leads by example and we all follow him thanks Nick Ames next hi nuk um we saw the the impact that you had the other day coming on after a really frustrating four months for you and we saw as well the impact that Trent had putting that pen away when after maybe a different sort of frustration when you’ve been subbed a couple of times for example what does it say um about the strength and and resilience of of of you guys that players can come in who’ve maybe had these knockbacks and disappointments and make that impact because you don’t get it everywhere do you no of course but I think that’s what’s important for for us as a group as a team um I think that’s the the example G sets um and Steve you know like I touched on earlier the the ones that are not playing the ones that you know have to do them tough trainings the day after the game after not getting on I think they’re the most important ones because you know they’re they’re the one that leads training leads uh you know leads the the Positive Vibes and I think you know like I said earlier I think you never know when when your opportunity can come so you have to make sure that you’re given 100% every day so you know in the semi-final tomorrow someone that might not have played on Wednesday sorry might not have played might get an opportunity so you know you have to make sure that you’re doing everything right to to be ready for for that when it comes thanks Nick Craig hi Luke a lot has been made about the imbalance of the side can you give us a professional insight into what a left foot or at left back brings someone like yourself why does that make a team better I don’t know really um I think it might make the balance better I think having a left footed on on that side um but I don’t think it will change too much with the team um I think trips has has done really really well um always has done for his country and he’s he’s a really important player for us and for me he’s been brilliant um so yeah I don’t think too much can change I think maybe a little bit of balance but yeah for me he’s he’s been brilliant there an extension of that question in many ways but has your frustration been Amplified not just by the fact that you you’re injured you want to get back playing but by a belief that you can help the team yeah of course um I think for me I have to have belief belief that I can help the team you know and and of course make make the team better I think you know maybe also G sees that and that’s maybe why he he did he did bring me because he knows the qualities I have and what I can bring to the team um but yeah for me it was just about making sure that I get everything right to make sure that you know I’m I’m fit and raring to go and you know for me now I’m I’m at that stage where I am and I feel really good so I’m happy with with the place I’m at at law hi Luke um we have got a Dutchman in our camp can you just talk to me about what what Jimmy Floyd has bank has been bringing what he’s like to work with he’s been bringing everything Jimmy um no he’s been really good really positive um I think yeah he’s he he’s been doing stuff in training with you know the strikers um taking some of the training I’m not going to go into too much detail on what he does but you know we’re all really happy with Jimmy and you know he helps not just the strikers but a lot of the lads um and also has the advice of of what he’s done in the game to to give to others can you give a bit of detail on the lighter side because he seems to like a laugh as well I’ve seen him like pushing Jon stones into the sprinklers and he’s constantly got a smile on his face yeah no I think that’s just the way he is um he brings a lot of laughs very confident you know so um yeah he likes a little bit of a joke and I think he just brings the the positive energy around the camp and you know makes people smile thanks M you’re there and then J Dawson hi Luke uh you mentioned earlier about players making an impact coming on when they needed just want to know what you thought of ezri gona’s performance um in the quarterfinal unbelievable um he was so so good so efficient um very aggressive and I think for him he should be very proud because I think if if I’m not mistaken that was his first start in a in a tournament um and yeah I was really impressed of of how he dealt with that um he looked like he had been playing for England for a long long time um so yeah now he can be very proud of of how he did and you know get ready for for the next game DUS caus an a happy concern essentially I mean alongside you and trippier maybe M did really well before that and now you’ve got him performing when gu was suspended it’s a nice sort of problem to have I guess yeah no I think it’s it’s a positive problem for for Gare um now he’s obviously got a got a pick aside and I think that’s only good for him um to show where we’re at you know competition for places is always good I think is a good thing for for the team keeps everyone on their toes to to put to push each day to to be at their best so I think yeah it’s a it’s a positive problem for for the boss okay we’ve got Phil foden politely waiting for a lift home here and now we do Jerry lawon then finish with Tom Barkley at the back cheers hi Luke I’ll try and be quick Jerry Lon Daily Star best of luck to uh I’m on Wednesday thank you um you’ve had to work so hard to get on the pitch here you’ve really had to put it in um I was just wondering um a lot of players are on the beach you’re not you’re here you’ve worked your socks off to get there why what does it mean to you to put that England Jersey on it means means everything um I think yeah there’s there’s been a lot of sacrifice and and hard work to to get in my position now um a lot of chats with Gare and the medical staff but you know I wouldn’t change anything I think playing for your country means everything to me um and I’m very honored and privileged to be able to do that and to be in the position so there was no way that you know that I would if I had a slight chance that and Gareth would take me that I’d be sitting on the beach cuz you know I’d much rather be here giving everything I can to to try and help us you know win this tournament because I believe we can earlier in the tournament there was some quite brutal criticism in certain directions of early England performances particular in the group stage I’m talking about Gary liner comments Etc I was wondering if the you the squad has been able to use those comments a bit Fergy style if you like will show them uh has there been a little bit of that to help you help rally the troops um I don’t know really I think obviously we see them but we just try to ignore it um focus on ourselves I think maybe there is a little bit of motivation from from what people are saying um but look like I said earlier I think the most important thing is winning games um so we we just keep have having to do that I think I think we’re improving game by game in our performances there’s of course still more to come but I think our main priority is winning games and I think if as long as we’re doing that then you know it doesn’t matter what people are saying about how we perform and just finally uh the fans you’ve seen the scenes at home complete Madness babies is called Jude beer flying hangovers people uh calling in sick um you’re in a bubble are you what’s just tell us the how much that means to the players to know that basically the whole nation is backing them no of course it it means everything I think this is what we do it for we do it for for the fans for for the families for our families and the love of football and you know I think like you said we’re in a bubble but we see it all we we love seeing the videos and you know people at box par going crazy um and I think even that it’s it’s extra motivation you know seeing what you know how how happy we make people um and you know I think yeah extra motivation to to keep on doing that and keep them Smiles on on the faces thanks so much cheers last one at the back Tom Barkley cheers sorry Phil hi Luke uh Tom Buckley from the Sun talking about being in a bubble one of the biggest talking points from the fans and the media throughout this has been left back and having a natural left Sider just how aware have you been personally about how much people are talking about that particular situation and have you felt like you’ve had almost the weight of the Nation on you to get you back to Fitness um n not not really I think obviously you read things here and there um but I haven’t really felt any added pressure to to get back um I think like I said we we’ve always been very clear with with the plan I have um I think like I said obviously I had a little setback but the we still had the plan in motion so there was there was no added pressure I think of course I wanted to be back out there on the pitch as soon as I can but you know there was there was no rush I think we knew what we was doing and you know like I said I think that’s obviously behind me now I’m I’m fit and ready to go so I feel good and just finally you’re the only Englishman ever score in a Euros final but when you were talking about it yesterday on Lion’s Den you just said it sort of didn’t matter because obviously what what happened with the result is that how you feel about it looking back you do you not have any happy memories of that at all that particular goal uh is it’s hard to to have happy memories I think um I try not to think about it and for me I think yeah uh yeah not many good memories to be honest from that go I think of of course the the result really killed that to be honest um so you know adds even more motivation this tournament to to put things right on am on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport

  1. God listening to him is putting me to sleep. Not many characters like the old days. Once upon a time, our LB was Stuart Pearce. Now we have him.

  2. criticise, mock, judge poorly, raise an eyebrow, scoff at…i could go on. just some words talksport could use other than SLAM

  3. We are embarrassing as England fans saying drop Kane are biggest goal threat all time leading goal scorer don’t forget captain we do the same thing game by game everyone said play Cole parmer drop saka then it was play saka LB NO KEEP THE MOST CONSISTENT ENGLAND PLAYER IN PAST 3 years in his best position

  4. The fact this squad has made it to two Euro semi-finals without playing the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal or Belgium is insane.

It's the only reason that this squad believes they are better than the 2002-2010 era.

England lost to Iceland during that two-year transition period from the previous era to the current one.

  5. He's hardly gunna call him a donkey and a hasbeen is he. Times like this i wish Carl Froch was playing for England because he would go in on everyone with the truth no man would be safe from his realism.

  6. What trophy experiences could Harry Kane bring to the squad that Marcus Rashford couldn't? "FA CUP WINNER 🏆!!"

  7. Kane doesn’t need “ defending “ – no one is particularly “ attacking” him. It’s simple. Kane is not playing incredibly badly but he’s certainly not “ at it “ and he’s certainly not 100% fit. He’s not making runs behind the defence and he’s coming too deep. Therefore there is very decent case for giving Watkins or Toney a start. Let’s face it , it’s not as if Watkins or Toney are bad finishers either.

  8. 4:27 Oh Luke mate…..come on….you know exactly what the answer is to that question and you know it makes the team better. It’s a BS answer to protect Trippier and Southgate for not bringing a fit left back to Germany. This is why England don’t win things. We have a tactically inferior manager who is kept in a job because he says the right things. We have a captain who can’t be dropped even though it’s the obvious decision and we have Shaw pretending that he “ doesn’t know “ that a left footed left back improves a team. We have to decide if we are going to be loyal to captains , politically correct and nice ( and then lose ) , or nasty , ruthless ( and then win ). Loyalty can go to hell , I want England to win for a change.

  9. You shouldn't have been allowed to represent your country. You have not been good enough for your club, partially down to injury, but overall you have been poor and you want everyone to get behind Kane. Have a good look at yourself mate. Stop making excuses and telling wveryone to get behind Kane. He has been awful and shouldn't be playing, just like you shouldn't have been in Germany.

  10. It's not his job to tell the truth, thats up to ex-players.
These interviewers are the worst aren't they. Get a bunch of school kids in instead.

  11. Where's all the clowns that said we was never gonna beat Switzerland??? I told you we will step it up we have the easiest route to the final with piss easy teams and world class players we're bringing the euros home
