we talked about three of the top six players uh in the draft from France I don’t know if all of them I’m guessing all of them are on the uh Olympic team I mean they’re young so maybe maybe they’re not but um wm’s going to be on there um you got some other Rudy go good Ry go Rudy goar so France will be interesting Canada I mean Rob G do you have the Canadian team Jamal muray Shay Guild Alexander uh it’s in RJ Barrett Andrew Wiggins RJ Barett Andrew nard Lou Dort Rob G got it go give us their their list well quickly but clarification for the French team none of the guys that were drafted are going to be in the upcoming Olympics okay that because they’re not on the senior team they’re considered the junior team so they’d be ready for the 2028 Olympics but for Canada it’s all NBA players or former NBA players n Ander Walker RJ Barrett Trey Bell Haynes who who’s I believe the only guy who’s not had like a an extended career in the NBA Anthony Bennett Lou Dort Corey Joseph Trey Lyles Michael Moulder played for a hot minute Dwight Powell Andrew Wiggins Shay gilis Alexander Dylan Brooks all right here’s the thing let me quickly I’m gonna tell this story because this is twice that this has happened and they’ve been right on the money I’ve told the story Sean before of how 199 6 at the Chicago pre-draft Camp the great Larry Brown head coach he told me the next hot bed of basketball is going to be Eastern Europe This 1996 now you know I’m thinking in my head man please like really Eastern Europe about to take us out he said that’s gonna be the next hot bet he said because those kids is impoverished over there they’re struggling and basketball is their way out he said I believe he said just like it was here in the ghettos of America so that one that’s one thing that obviously came true I’ve been to Eastern Europe have you been to Eastern Europe uh via movies uh Google Maps yes a lot of us go to visit Europe right we go to Paris we go to Rome we go to London we go to Madrid and Spain all that and it’s you know those are beautiful Wonder F cities right man I went to Serbia when I was over there with with um Brandon Jenny it’s the hood man yeah it’s the it looks like Youngstown Ohio or or worse but you saw battle T like like buildings that have been blown up and and ravaged ravaged in war were still there it it really it’s complete Eastern Europe is very different from the countries that most people go visit and you know on vacations and it’s hood and those kids they are over there man playing for their livelihood and stuff so that happened and then this was in the at the summer league in Vegas I don’t know I was still at ESPN it might have been 2012 is somewhere around there and there was a guy from Canada who worked for an NBA team I can’t even remember his name but he told me he was a black guy and he said man Canada is about to start producing some great uh players because he said they’re you know they’ve been they’ve all you know they’ve always gotten a lot of African immigrants uh whether from Africa or the Caribbean and he said they’re really taking the basketball and they’re you know they’re emulating the American players and they’re working on their game and they taking it seriously and lo and behold that’s what we’re seeing Canada is bad I mean and a lot of people don’t even know a lot of the guys from Canada because obviously Canada America they they may seem more like American right Jamal Murray SGA but these dudes are Canadian Andrew Wiggins and the thing I’ll tell you about their team now I think we are the should be the heavy favorites or the favorites and I think we’ll win but when you look at our team our team is a bunch of superstars who are used to doing the Glamorous things scoring you know things like like that uh when you look at that team that Rob G just read off with Lou Dort and Dylan Brooks and and a a healthy number of robl that’s really like a team because they got a few Stars you got Jamal Murray SGA Wiggins maybe if you consider him that I think I’m missing a star or two um and then you’ve got a bunch of role players like they’re built like a real team and that’s going to be interesting they’re obviously younger than our group too so it’s going to be it’s going to be tougher than I think we think uh didn’t Canada beat us in the uh World Cup in the finals yeah but well we didn’t make you talking about last summer we didn’t make the finals did we well maybe we got beat by Germany I think Canada may have beaten us too they beat us for third place yeah okay yeah cuz Germany beat us but again that wasn’t our big dogs but that was some good play great players obviously Ed Paulo Tyrese Halbert Brunson was yeah yeahand bers you know here’s what’s interesting about that team and you and you kind of alluded to it we never worried about that not too long ago because Kobe would do the dirty stuff D Wade would do the dirty stuff like they had guys on the team even though they were superstars that they were willing to do it it’ll be interesting with this team and I’m sure some guys will I just don’t know if they got a lot of old and and and injury prone too though yeah you know kawai’s you know I think Kawai would do that but he’s I mean how healthy is he going yeah his body’s let him down Anthony Edwards has like that like alpha male dog but there’s some really talented young guys Camp you know I hope he stays healthy but even you mentioned that redeemed team with I mean that’s when LeBron Kobe Wade Melo they were pretty much in their Prime obviously Kobe was in his prime dwade had already led a Miami team to the championship LeBron had led a team to the finals I mean so these guys were were at their best and we had Carlos Boozer Jason kid who obviously was an experienced player at that time Darren Williams remember Darren was Darren was one of the best point guards in the league for Sho Dwight Howard in his prime Chris BOS Chris Paul and Melo and taan Prince so taan like the rooll player that redeemed team beat Spain 118 to 107 in the championship the gold medal game so they beat him by 11 and that’s when all those Legends were in their primes so now I it this going to be a tough this going to be tough man it is it really is because I and listen all these guys want to win but is it going to alter any of their legacies if they don’t win the Olympic goal no no it’s like the there’s not a lot of pressure in my opinion coming from inside with America for a gold medal or bus result from this team so I I mean it’s just I think there Pride I think there is some pride but at the end of the day to your point earlier when you’re making hundreds of millions of dollars you’re already a superstar a celebrity H is pride enough and the I think where it would show up if it if it shows up and it’s uh who was saying it uh somebody I heard one coach recently said it um I can’t remember who it was oh it was in the playoffs Jason kid said it going into game four for the Mavericks like he was like at some point there’s going to be an opportunity for you to give up the Rope let go of the Rope right cuz we’re down three 0 and you know if they get up big it’s going to be easy to be like man it’s over and you know and you let go of the rope and you’re no longer competing when that if that time comes for us in the Olympics where not that we’re down big but where it it really you have to reach down in the B to the bottom of your soul right and compete like you would compete in the NBA Finals to win are we goingon to are all our Superstars willing to do that and here’s why that’s a perfect question for like you said a game that is not yeah be you want to win gold but it’s not going to really impact your legacy and I think why that’s a very pertinent opinion Chris is the margins are so much smaller it’s not like 10 years ago where what you’re talking about might be only in the finals right like they might catch that kind of competitive game you know three four times just to get to the gold medal game so I mean it’s going to be fascinating to watch the one thing that that worries me about this team is they got a lot of the guys that have injury history oh yeah Durant ad MB Kawai like I just hope we stay healthy that’s a huge problem there’s no doubt all right
