welcome back to wise Wednesdays here on FanDuel TV and we bring in a guy that spent a lot of time with me he’s with me every Wednesday in the Thursday we tape Wednesday Thursday 9:00 a.m. eastern you can find East Coast bias on FanDuel TV once the football season rolls around he’s a part of the Wise Guys crew and we can’t wait less than 10 Sundays away from the NFL season but it’s been a busy couple of days in the NBA so Raheem Palmer of East Coast bias wi the Wise Guys Philly special uh what’s up buddy good to see you life is good I mean the Philadelphia 76ers just got Paul George so that was huge for us to compete against the New York Knicks and the world champion bosta Celtics so hopefully that puts us over the top that’s where I want to start Raheem because I think both of us consider ourselves good historians of the NBA I can’t think of a time where the Celtics the Knicks and the 76ers are all cooking at the same time and if you want to tell me last year or the year before that that’s fine but like going into the year I think all three of those teams are going to have legitimate aspirations of winning the Eastern Conference and there dare I say winning an NBA title Raheem I can’t think of an example can you remember the Celtics the Knicks and the Sixers being this good at the same time never I mean there’s never been a time you look at the odds right now on FanDuel sports book the Boston Celtics are plus 145 the Sixers are plus 400 and the Knicks are plus 450 to win the conference so those are the clear top three teams in the conference and I don’t think we’ve ever seen that during our lifetime let’s get to your Sixers question last year was okay it’s embid and Maxi and who else is going to be able to help out Paul George if you get the version of Paul George we saw last year with the Los Angeles Clippers and assuming he can play regular season games and assuming of course he’s going to be out there for the postseason there’s no doubt he helps this team but as far as your look on Philly as far as their Championship window has you know maybe been concerned here does it change dramatically in your eyes bringing George into this mix I think it changes a bit I mean obviously you saw the Philadelphia 76ers odds go from about 16 to1 to win the NBA title to plus 850 to win the NBA title now I wouldn’t suggest buying into to the Sixers at this point in time because you look at this Philadelphia 76ers roster they’re very topheavy you’re looking at a team with Joel MB Tyrese Maxi and Paul George and obviously they bring back Kelly UB and then you bring in Andre Drummond but they don’t have a lot of dep you look at the Boston Celtics you look at the New York Knicks they are stacked with Talent we have to wait until darl muray fills out the rest of this roster um to see what they bring to the table because we know Paul George he’s 34 years old he’s getting up there in age this is a guy who’s missed a lot of time he’s had that serious injury years back he did play what you know 70 games or so last year but but the year before that he didn’t play he didn’t play too much and they end up missing the postseason and we know Joel MB is a guy who gets injured so until they fill out the rest of this roster you still got to be a little bit skeptical but I think the top-notch talent is there and the potential was there for the Sixers to be able to compete for a title so here’s my feeling on this rahee I think the Sixers best is probably better than the Knicks best if we’re like going through and we’re like drafting a fantasy team and it’s you and I going back and forth but the totality of the Knicks as you just alluded to and the toughness of the New York Knicks just the the style which they play the way they’re going to be able to guard with a variety of different people now bringing in bridges alongside ogan noi making sure he’s back in the fold Brunson at the end of these games I I’m of the mindset that yes Philly’s Best might be better than Nick’s best but I think I like the Knicks more because they got more ways to beat it does that make sense I know we splitting hairs I know it was a very evenly matched first round series and I’m G to be stunned if it’s a first round Series this year because I don’t think the Knicks and the Sixers are going to find themselves in like a 27 scenario but it might crazy to like the Knicks to smidge more because of their overall dep I do like this the Knicks more and I don’t even know if the Sixers best is even better than the Nick’s best at this point in time because there’s still a lot of unknowns we just don’t know what the rest of that roster looks like they don’t have a true point guard on this roster you got to remember KY Lowry is a free agent he could be heading somewhere else you’re looking at a guy like De Anthony Melton he was big for the Sixers obviously didn’t play in the postseason but he was a big piece for them he’s going to to Golden State so the rest of this roster really needs a lot of work they’re very topheavy right now I think the Knicks are by far the better te okay outside of Boston the Knicks and the Sixers who’s the team that you’re looking at in the rest of the Eastern Conference Cleveland’s got a new coach Kenny ainson they bring back Donovan Mitchell they give him the extension Orlando goes and gets Colwell pope from the Nuggets that’s a team that was on the up and up last year and played well maybe it’s Milwaukee maybe you’re buying out Miami who is the team at this point in time ran I know a lot can still happen between now and the start of the regular season but who’s the team that you’re looking at outside of that top three East and say I got my eyes on them it’s definitely the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando match you mentioned the Cleveland Cavaliers they got a great coach in Kenny a I think he’s going to take that team to the next level but also look at the Orlando Magic Orlando Magic were a surprise story last year with Paulo ban Caro France Wagner I think you add in a shooter like cavius Carwell Pope and I think that makes this team that much better and if the the magic can somehow find another scoring guard they’re going to be scared because they had a top-notch defense last year I think PA Paulo’s going to make the leap I think France is going to make the leap so those are the two teams outside of the big three that I’d be looking forward interesting okay let’s shift gears let’s go to the Western Conference a year ago we were doing summer East Coast bias we were all over the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the title and I know they didn’t win the title but hey considering where they were the year prior they are the number one seed they win round they lose a hard-fought six-game series to the Dallas Mavericks so I think we should take a bow for giv out 125 with a team that was in the lottery and then seeing them all the way to the second round why do I bring all of that up I think Oklahoma City Raheem has had his good in off season as any in the NBA I I I do when you go and add Alex Caruso and the sort of toughness he brings and the winning intangibles he brings you go and get my dude Isaiah honstein who I’m going to miss a ton with the Knicks he was great with Jaylen Brunson great in the pick and roll had that little floater bunny takes a lot of the pressure off of a guy like Chad holgren I kind of look up and down the Western Conference and I see the emergence of uh budding he’s not budding he’s already there he’s a superstar in sgaa plus everything else they have on the roster plus what they have added am I crazy to say OKC team the beat in the west as of this point they by far the the best team in the Western Conference and you know the odds reflect that they’ve gone down to plus 750 to win the NBA title and you know not only did they trade for alas Caruso this guy’s a 40% three-point shooter but they got rid of a problem in Josh giddy this guy was a great ball handler but he was their weakest shooter and they did not have to defend that guy and then you look at the pickup for Isaiah hardenstein three years 87 million that’s going to be huge because when you look at one of the biggest weaknesses of the Oklahoma City Thunder last year it was rebounding they were 27th in offensive rebound rate and 29th in defensive rebound rate so if you look at that Dallas Maverick series a lot of those games came down to the fact that they couldn’t pick up some rebounds that’s going to change here so you look at the fact that they had a top five offense top five defense they had a superstar in SGA you got jayen Williams who is emerging he probably could be an Allstar this year they have all of the pieces that you need so I think this team is a legitimate Championship Contender I also think you could be looking at SGA at plus 550 to win the MVP I think that’s a little bit of a bargain because they’re going to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference no doubt about it now the Denver Nuggets are kind of in a weird spot because they say goodbye to cwell Pope who was just gigantic for them a couple of years ago they’re kind of not as willing to go and keep their guys as compared to a team like the Celtics that’s basically blowing through any sort of cap number hey Derek white no problem Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown no problem and I’m trying to figure out how Denver Raheem gets better this off season I know they still have the Joker you want to tell me Jamal Murray is GNA be healthier Porter Jr is going to be better in the postseason all right you could you could spin me on that but the rest of roster it seems like there is work to do would you be selling Denver Stock I’m definitely selling Denver Stock and look if you look at the big three you look at nicoa yic you look at Jamal Murray you look at Aaron Cory that is a hell of a core but around the core when you lose contus cwell pop that’s a huge loss when you look at the attrition of losing Bruce Brown last year or losing Jeff Green last year what is around this team they’re basically depending Ed on nailing those draft picks and they’re planning on starting Christian Brown I don’t know what we’ve seen from Christian Brown that tells you he should be starting on a championship caliber contending team so to lose that to lose kcp and start Christian Brown and now the bench is even worse I’m really skeptical that this Denver Nuggets team has enough to win a championship so I’m definitely selling their stock I mean obviously it’s tough to do when you have the League’s best player in Nia joic but I am not happy with what I’ve seen from what they’ve done with these moves okay Raheem the Dallas Mavericks were in the NBA finals of year ago Luka donic Kyrie Irving we know how it played out in their run to the NBA finals and it was a much different tale for them when they matched up with the Boston Celtics it felt like they were clearly a body of two short they go and at Kay Thompson Kay Thompson the res May speaks for itself he’s a fourth-time NBA champion Splash brother tons of incredible postseason moments throughout his career that said Raheem he looked Larry Holmes status last year use your terminology my dude he looked Larry Holmes status if you watch the Golden State Warriors he gets paid he now goes to Dallas he doesn’t need to be the man they got donic they have Kyrie Irving one what are your expectations for clay and Dallas two does it change his scenery in your opinion help him well I want to add they also added Naji Marshall um along with Klay Thompson so I think the Boston Celtics they did a really good job at exposing the the lack of perimeter threats for the Dallas Mavericks outside of Luca donish and Kyrie Irving so they had to you know punch up that offense a little bit but what they did lose is they Lo they lost Derrick Jones Jr they lost Josh Green so they could be a little bit worse on the defensive end now obviously you still have the combination of Luca Dage and Derrik Lively Jr I think that pick and roll was absolutely devastating to teams I expect Klay Thompson to have a resurgent season I I really do I think motivation is a huge part he doesn’t have to do as much um it is a little bit of a different fit because Luca has the ball in his hands all the time there’s not constant ball movement like we saw all in Golden State so I am wondering how Klay Thompson is going to look with you know such a BAL dominant player but I think he’s going to have those open available shots and I think he’s going to hit them but I do think the Dallas Mavericks they take a little bit of a step back defensively um you know I think everything broke right for them last year and I’m not sure that’s going to be the case this year in a tough Western Conference we got my buddy Raheem Palmer East Coast bias ringer Wise Guys really special right here on wise Wednesdays when we come back I don’t get the sense Raheem would put the Dallas Mavericks number two in ranking teams out west so I’m kind of curious to see all right who’s he got in that second spot we’ll run through the NBA Futures board and it’s never too early to start thinking some NFL strategy so I want I don’t need picks from Raheem but I need some strategy on how we should get ready for the started this NFL campaign all that more it’s wse Wednesdays right here F TV

  1. I know these guys are too young to remember it, but the early '80s happened. And the Sixers, Celtics and Knicks were all serious teams (along with the Bucks). Some might even say those years/teams are kind of legendary.
