the show but we begin with the PGA Championship as I mentioned about half the field starting to tea off off this morning and as we begin Xander schofl is the leader right now wow five underpar coming out on fire right out of the gate unfortunately a poor performance thus far for the hero of last year’s PGA Championship Michael block uh the PGA Tour professional is now five under par you may remember his name last year finished in the top 15 also Tiger Woods through seven holes is one overpar Luke Donald two under Lucas Herbert two under will update you on the leaderboard throughout the show in the NBA last night another upset in the Mavericks Thunder series as this game goes back and forth and the series goes back and for this time it’s Dallas going on the road and beating the Oklahoma City Thunder final 104 to 92 last night triple double for Luca donic 31 Points 11 rebounds 10 rebounds and 11 assists of course the total last night was 213 so this goes under the total the Mavericks win outright so they naturally cover the spread and get the money line for you as well a back and forth series it has been with Dallas having an opportunity to close out the series in the next game but it was the block as you can see of Luca in the 30-point triple double was huge against Shay gilis Alexander and everyone talking about that on social media today Luca talked about the block last night you obviously uh 30o triple double shot the ball well but how satisfying was it for you to seal this with that block and transition a bit next year all NBA defensive team no just it was uh you know he kind of the ball escaped a little bit for him so that’s why I got the block that’s so we doing so um but in terms of you stepping up in a game five when the series is tied two to two do you think maybe there’s something extra well yeah I mean the whole team step up I couldn’t do it without my teammates you know everybody that came on the floor gave 100% energy and we play as a team we win as a team we lose as a team and uh this team is special man we only been together for what five months uh and you know I’ve been having a lot of fun with this team Mavericks can close it out this weekend did Lucas say all defensive team next season I think he was joking all right the Cleveland Cavaliers have been eliminated from the NBA Playoffs it was a pretty uh simple series for the Boston Celtics they lost one game which was a surprise but without Donovan Mitchell essentially the Cavs had no shot 113 to 98 last night the Celtics did barely cover the spread I know in some books it went up to 16 but most had 13 and a half 14 uh maybe some pushes at 15 as well 4-1 was the series final Celtics win as they move on to the Eastern Conference will await the winner of Indiana and New York Jason Tatum last night 25 points 10ed rebounds nine assists but the story last night honestly was the Ageless Wonder another big performance in the playoffs from the big man Al Horford 22 points 15 rebounds five assists three blocks and one steal Jason Tatum one of the stars of the Celtics talked about just how big it was to get that performance from Horford yeah I think uh the one play in particular when he saved the ball out of bounds in the last two minutes of like the second quarter um it just you know gave us that extra possession and um you know pumped the crowd up pumped our team up uh you know those plays that you know that was so meaningful and you know just how he played in the second half on the defensive end he knocked down Big Shots U time and time after G so uh you know his performance his his energy his leadership tonight um you know was crucial Jason what Jason what impressed you most about what you’re able to do in this series and um what do you think will help you moving forward in the Eastern Conference Finals in terms of Lessons Learned things you’re able to accomplish um you know one how we respond after game two going on the road in a pretty good environment in Cleveland and and winning two big road games um and then coming back here tonight and uh you know they they battled Cleveland battled give them a lot of credit you know they didn’t removed as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers I mean I don’t know Cavs had a really good regular season they ended up beating the magic and yeah fell short against arguably the best team in the NBA but I don’t know what the Cavs plan would be if bicker staff would be removed we’ll see meanwhile Vince Carter is going to have his number 15 jersey retired by the Nets he played four and a half Seasons with them he’s the only player in NBA history to play Four decades by the way NBA Rookie of the Year in 99 with Toronto went to New Jersey in December of 04 played with the Nets 0809 his last season was with the Atlanta Hawks he’ll have his jersey retired and he’ll become the seventh Nets player to have that done meanwhile Caitlyn Clark her debut was the most watched WNBA game since get tonight is that night Kyle Irving joins us so we’ll recap what happened last night in the NBA and get a preview and see if we have a position on tonight’s game hey Kyle great to have you back and you know naturally the NBA cycle coming to the end here as we get toward the Eastern Conference Western Conference Finals a lot of intrigue I still think left naturally and some NBA draft Intrigue as well but you know when this starts happening it’s the uh the race to the end of the season it feels like we’re getting closer we are getting closer I mean we already have one series down three to go and you know these series were tied at 22 but it’s starting to feel like we are seeing uh each series sway in a certain direction so you know I’m really looking forward to seeing what we get out of the Western Conference finals and then I’m very curious to see who makes it out of that Eastern Conference Finals series as well to see who can give the Celtics a tough test but like you said we’re getting down to the end of it only one game a night it’s tough time of the year yeah it is all right so let’s go back for us a look at last night I look I think the Mavericks are going to win the series now against Oklahoma City this was just a huge win last night to go on the road and win meanwhile Dallas has lost at home outright to OKC OKC has lost outright a couple of times in this series so I guess we shouldn’t say that the series is over I mean it certainly could go back to Dallas and and OKC could win the next game very easily but I mean I I just don’t see Dallas losing twice now I think that’s kind of the position that I would take because I mean if there’s one I mean joic it seems like Denver does need him to play really well but I don’t think that there’s another team that’s left in the NBA that’s more reliant on Luca like Dallas is yeah I think Dallas really figured something out last night defensively um you know they were switching up looks men and Zone uh making sure that Shay gildas Alex Alexander was seeing three bodies every single time that he drove the lane and they were really determined to make somebody else on Oklahoma City beat them and the Thunder have not shot the three ball all that well uh lately in this series and Dallas’s defense deserves a lot of the credit for that um you know they’re two big guys Daniel Gafford and Derrick Lively have done a great job of keeping Shay out of the paint and making life difficult for him when he does get into the paint um and you know there Oklahoma City’s three-point Shooters just haven’t been knocking down those shots to get any relief off of Shay so as Dallas starts to figure something out defensively which hadn’t necessarily been their identity all year like you said very relling on Luca Kyrie um guys like PJ Washington knocking down shots after the trade deadline you know it feels like they are starting to find an identity on the defensive end and that’s a really scary sight for Oklahoma City because as the series goes back to Dallas you know the Thunder that young Thunder team they stole that game four in Dallas that was a really impressive win but I don’t know if they have that in them again in this next game especially with the way the Dallas looks defensively so I’m with you Craig I’m kind of thinking that the Mavericks might wrap this up in six games yeah or or seven again they can they only have to win one of the next two meanwhile the Boston Celtics uh with that win last night now get to rest regardless they’re going to get at least it seems like three days rest it could get a lot more than that depending on what happens tomorrow night but they took care of Cleveland last night 113 to 98 they win the series in five man I’m seeing these reports about maybe a new coach in Cleveland which is sort of stunning I mean made the playoffs won the first round played well in two games at least against Boston well the Celtics you know KY you sort of alluded to right now it looks like they’re the best team in the NBA I I think most people are hoping to get a Boston Denver final I I don’t know that we will you never know but the Celtics dominated the series pretty much from start to finish maybe it’s a little unfair without Mitchell to think that Cleveland had a chance yeah I mean I I agree with you I thought that JB Bickerstaff did as good of a job as he possibly could with the roster that he had available in the series but at the end of the day the Celtics were just the better team and you know they’ve had a couple uh stinkers they had the game two against the Heat they had the game two against the Cavaliers but all in all it feels like this team is almost being graded a little tough uh just based on how successful they were in the regular season I mean they have the best record in the playoffs they have the best average margin of victory in the playoffs they have the highest point differential in the playoffs um highest net rating in the playoffs they’ve won games by 30 points they’ve won three games by 20 points three games by at least 10 points so you know even though it doesn’t necessarily look pretty from the first to the third quarter the end result is what it is and you don’t have to cover a spread to win the championship so you know right now the Celtics are looking like the favorite to win the title for sure yeah and and their odds have significantly changed in terms of of where their favored will get to that in a minute uh tonight the Nuggets take on the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver’s won really in the series as dominant as they could possibly have been over the last five six days they’ve won three in a row Minnesota is favored tonight to win they’re two and a half Point favorites total 204 and a half but it certainly feels like Denver has completely wred the ship here do you think Kyle that Minnesota can put their best effort together because they’re going to need it to beat Denver tonight and keep the series going you know what Craig I wish I could say that I thought Anthony Edwards had another masterful performance in him to knock off the Nuggets but it just feels like Nicole yic has hit a completely different gear after losing those first two games I mean what he did the other night against Rudy goar and that’s nothing against Rudy goar I thought goar actually played really solid defense on a lot of those possessions but a lot of the times with with jic you just can’t do anything if you double him he finds the open man if you don’t double him he finds a way to score he was even knocking down his three-point shot the other night which he doesn’t take a ton of Threes um I thought joic was you know masterful I thought he has been uh re reasserted himself as the best player in the world not that he ever lost that title but you know after those first two games he was looking a little shaky and got right back to you know showing everybody why he’s the best player in the world and I actually think that Denver wins this game outright tonight and gets that series over with yeah plus 114 on the money line by the way the big jump on the FanDuel sports book in the past week has been Denver moving back up now to plus 270 to win the NBA championship after last night the Mavericks have moved up into the top three of course they are 8 to one now to win the title and then everybody else is basically a long shot so Kyle I guess we could play the same game we played last week if you can’t take Boston who else would you take last week I said Denver and that’s actually looking pretty good right now because they were at plus 1800 I think when I said that but um you know it feels like if you’re looking for a longer money play maybe you look to a team like Oklahoma City who could maybe you know come back from down three2 and then find a way to win the series and then find a way to beat Denver but you know to me it does feel like we are back on course to see a collision course between Boston and Denver in the NBA Finals so if it’s not going to be the Celtics then maybe it’s still the Nuggets yeah no I I think definitely Denver was the value there last week and I wonder how far that will go and to see if they uh end up taking care of the series tonight they ain’t going to be plus 270 if they win that one tonight they’re going to be down to plus 200 that’s uh off thus far the biggest story is Xander leading the PGA Tour off to an incredible start of aalia he is six under par as they continue right now uh Tiger Woods I’m still seeing one overpar now again that JB bicker staff who is the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers uh could potentially be replaced I mean remember where Cleveland was several years ago nowhere the Cavs this season had a good regular season made the playoffs won a first round series although it did take seven games against the Orlando Magic and hey took the Boston Celtics to five games a couple of them with without Donovan Mitchell so bicker staff of course is feeling like he had a good season and says that he still would like to remain the head coach and talked about the place in Cleveland which is where he wants to be would I like to continue in as Cavs coach uh yeah I mean I think uh you know we’ve continued to build this thing the right way uh every single year we’ve improved um you know continued to get better you know play in playoffs win around um players have gotten better guys have had great years um you know this is definitely a place I want to be I guess the question is Mitchell is this the place Mitchell wants to be and naturally he was hurt so we really didn’t get to see the full Cavs performance over the last few games but you Cavs had a pretty good season All Things Considered would Detroit want to be where they are or San Antonio want to be where they are absolutely and I think that’s kind of tells the story no doubt uh all right so as we move forward the NBA draft combine is going on and wouldn’t you know the focal point even though he’s not going to be the first pick in the draft is going to be bronny James LeBron james’ son naturally he’s going to be drafted we don’t know where he’ll be drafted and we don’t know what team and what round or anything else and so much has been discussed about the fact that any team that gets bronny James may end up with LeBron James as well seems like a ticket right now in the NBA to potentially have both players the father and son boy great topic of conversation for our very own Kevin Walsh he talked about the possibility of what bronny could do do given the fact that he’s performing at the combine a lot of Buzz around the NBA draft combine with plenty of eyes on bronny James he was asked this week about potentially playing with his father in the NBA and said it’s not a goal of his he wants to be drafted based on his own talents his own Merit and what he’s able to prove to these franchises throughout the process and a lot of people believe that bronny can’t do that that bronnie is only here here because of his father those people are only upset about this process because they largely don’t like LeBron and they’re also wildly misinformed a McDonald’s All-American one and done being drafted on what he was able to accomplish in high school is not abnormal in the NBA Ronnie fits the billing how many people do you see complaining about Justin Edwards oh look at that you don’t even know who that is an over under draft position for Brony James 39 and a half the question question is will he be a top 40 pick come draft night yeah and Kevin you’re right I don’t know who Edwards is so you’re 100% right I know who Rick horo is it’s time now for Rick’s sports news minute his focus is on the move from the pack to the Big 10 right now UCLA and Cal about to get paid sports Prof Carl college sports minute from a business perspective how about Cal how about UCLA well clearly UCLA looks like they’re the winner getting six $60 million of annual distribution from their deal with the big 10 starting this next year the ACC not as kind to California they get $1 million there is a disparity but what is the California Board of regions looking to do they may require slol UCLA into supplementing the California athletic budget to the tune of $10 million yearly over a period of at least Le 10 years part of let’s bring him on uh let’s talk about New York here a little bit as if it isn’t enough that New York gets 50% of all the tax revenue that is coming in Senator Joe adabo is like hey how can we make some more money here on Sports and sports betting well let’s you know go to the DFS operators and say you know what what about some extra hundreds of millions of if we change the age requirement here my gosh is I mean is this greed at this point I mean come on so they go down they’re trying to go down here from 21 years old to 18 years old can you imagine Sam how many kids are going to be playing daily fantasy at 18 I would imagine that number will grow exponentially yeah definitely Craig it’s a great setup for a state that’s been all about money when it comes to sports betting now it looks like fantasy sports as well obviously like you mentioned they have the nation High 51% tax on betting which a lot of companies like DraftKings and FanDuel have come out and said wow that’s really high we really hope you would lower it there have been some attempts to lower it through the legislature but what seems like we’ll have a better chance is a bill that will actually generate the state more money so now we’re looking at the fantasy sports industry which has been a really hot topic this past year especially those games that kind of blend sports betting and fantasy together are they parlays are they player props some states think so some say yes some say know but in New York they’re trying to lower the age like you said from 21 to 18 to play those games uh in an effort they think will generate the state 150 million more uh dollars in Revenue a year now when I first came across this I was kind of wondering how lowering the age would generate that much more money obviously you’re gonna get more players but it would also add this uh one-time fee that operators would pay which would be $5 million a year to basically register with the state and stay as a fantasy sports operator currently there are fantasy sports operators in the state they don’t really pay fees anywhere close to that size or taxes close close to that size for that matter so this seems like kind of an effort to get it more on the playing field with what sports betting operators uh pay in the state they’d also pay about 1% of their gross Gaming revenue every five years so that’s kind of where the money is coming from here it would also um basically put in place that you can’t have those player versus house games that the state has cracked down against you know games like prize picks is offered um the you know the player prop paray kind of thing um this would say that it’s okay to offer the peer-to-peer version which we’ve talked about on the show before which essentially you know uses players entry fees as a way of paying out players or for the books to make money as opposed to a one-off you win you lose you get paid you don’t get paid by the book uh so that’s also probably where some of this money would come from allowing some uh operators who have left the state to come back in with their peer-to-peer versions um the senator pushing it is also trying to include in a different bill um something that would allow New Yorkers to bet on Awards like MVP or a defensive player of the year uh currently New York is one of the the few States it’s about 10 where you can’t bet on those Awards simply because they’re not determined by the outcome of a sporting event MVP is usually voted on depending on the league by a bunch of writers or broadcasters or coaches that kind of thing um so just because of the language that they have there where it has to be sporting event that’s prevented people from voting on those Awards so that would also um you know be a change that’s being proposed uh the senator who’s pushing it has been uh less than optimistic about the chances in the legislature there’s only about two weeks left you know it’s a lot harder to change things after you pass them but he says he just wants to make the product better for New Yorkers going forward so even if this doesn’t get past this session maybe we’ll see it carry over next year and eventually get over the line yeah and again uh you know daily fantasy is evolving just like sports betting is evolving we’ll see if New York is able to punch that ticket home to get these uh you know 21 year olds now to be 18 we’ll find out all right same thing happening here in Florida on a different level there’s this group West Flagler Sam that we’ve talked about a ton that feels like the seminal tribe have this Monopoly over sports betting indeed they do U they’re the only operation right now with the Hard Rock app that’s being able to bet there’s going to be a ruling my understanding coming up next month but most don’t anticipate anything changing with sports betting being legal in Florida through that venue is that accurate yeah that’s 100% accurate Craig uh but you never know what can happen in the court of law or the wild world of sports betting and lawsuits that we talked about a lot on this show the department of interior which represents the seminal tribe which you talked about having that Monopoly in Florida uh came out this week with a response to the request that uh the Supreme Court take up this case that West Flagler the group suing them um has asked the Supreme Court to take up essentially saying you know the arguments that were made in the lower court which um happened last year which ultimately allowed the Hard Rock BET app to relaunch and sports betting to return to the state essentially saying know those arguments uphold uh the Indian gaming regulatory Act only authorizes gaming on tribal land has been the argument of West Flagler not Statewide online gaming monopolies um so it’s essentially one side saying you’re right the other side saying you’re wrong uh on this issue um so we’ve seen them come out and tell the Supreme Court this it’s not even 100% uh determined if the Supreme Court will take this up like you said we’ll have to see in a month if they do they could still uphold it if they don’t um it probably that’s the end of the line here and the current state of Florida sports betting would be here to stay um now I’m told by a lot of people in the industry that they’re watching this case not really because of the come in Florida but the impact it could have on other states with tribes States like California Minnesota where tribes have that power where they you know pretty much gaming changes have to be made through them so people are kind of watching this to see if there’s any arguments if there’s any you know tidbits that other states could take in any things that um people could use in other states to make Arguments for or against you know tribal power um so to speak so um it’s not a quite a dead issue but it seems like um the current state of Florida sports betting is here to stay so um we’re going to keep watching it for the next month I’m sure we’ll have plenty of more to report at legal sports report uh on the Florida sports betting case yeah we’ll find out next month if it ends up changing at all and the one thing that we know has changed in sports betting is the interest level in the WNBA Caitlyn Clark made her debut what an incredible start to her debut from a sports betting perspective I mean Sam you couldn’t have asked for more she landed almost right on the number as far as what FanDuel set their line at as far as her total amount of points in game one she’ll play game two tonight and sports betting and Sportsbook operators are probably I’m going to guess see more action than they ever have before yeah while fans of hers and fans of women’s basketball might not have been as happy with her performance certainly betters weren’t to your point books were very very happy they had her point total at 20 and a half she landed right at 20 kind of struggling in her Pro debut um and it was no surprise that she was the most popular player prop bet uh in the WNBA during her debut it was actually the the phoen the I’m sorry the Connecticut Sons first sold out crowd in 20 years so she’s attracted a ton of attention at the books and in the stands but it was also the first time in the middle of the NBA Playoffs that you had a female basketball player be the most popular prop bet across the NBA or the WNBA I’ve never seen that before so she continues to kind of break records generating betting interest like that that um so she’s going to be the most popular bet again tonight I would be surprised if she wasn’t across both leagues already we’re seeing 99% of the bets coming in on the over for her points and you know the interest she’s generated in women’s basketball has just been crazy carrying over from college and the WNBA draft which saw over 322 times more money bet on it than last year and betting on the WNBA is already up 350% year year uh you mentioned the draft earlier I would be um shocked if there wasn’t more betting on the WNBA draft than the NBA draft um with how little buzz there is uh this year so it’s story yeah most of the buzz is not surrounding the top be the kind of thing where you had to show up at a bar and get a bunch of your buddies not the case with these new options every with everybody streaming these days yeah thanks Craig for having me I appreciate that so barana is a uh it’s a it’s TV network it’s designed for out of home right so all of our content is short formed familyfriendly we do Sports content we do entertainment content and it’s designed to entertain people when you’re out in bars restaurants health clubs at a casino and you can see some of our content there we do everything from uh different trivia categories we do conversation starters like would you rather and and what would you do if and we do um all kinds of really fun interesting content for you to play along with your friends when you’re when you’re out and about so whether you’re playing some Blackjack at a casino and you want to play some sports trivia or whether you’re uh out with your family and you just want to take a look at some of the great it’s additive there’s a lot of demand for this uh number two it’s great for bars and restaurants right um you know we’re delivered via uh Direct TV for business so they’ve got all the great Sports packages so majority of sports bars have Direct TV for business and uh what’s nice about barana and the sports grid elbar is it’s something additive and it it it allows barana to complement the other channels that are on in the bar so for instance tonight I think it’s a Rangers playoff game you’ll probably see a Dodgers game on one screen you’ll see some other content on another screen and on barana you’ll be able to um play along with some trivia and keep track of all the sports odds right all the great stuff you guys do with the money lines and the over runers and the power rankings and and rather than going to your phone and scrolling through all that stuff that content will be available right on barana right alongside the other great Sports networks that are delivered through uh although it was rumored over the last couple of months there would be a Happy Gilmore part two indeed There Will and Adam Sandler and Netflix made the announcement official as the popular movie starring Adam Sandler and the late Carl Weathers is coming back once again to Netflix now you could make the case that this was one of the most popular golf comedies of all time now I’m I’m still partial to kattic Shack but if there was a number two I don’t think any doubt uh people would say that Happy Gilmore was the second best uh I I guess we’ll find out exactly what happens because remember this movie came out I believe if I’m not mistaken about 20 years ago so what is old is New Again by the way the one movie that I would say that has not been redone that I’m just waiting for to make this announcement for is Back to the Future right like eventually they’re going to do that movie again but Happy Gilmore one of Adam Sandler’s best movies some people think it was his best movie ever and because of his partnership with Netflix it looks like that’s going to be where it will Air streaming on Netflix Happy Gilmore is coming back again meanwhile there is another golf series set to debut and it will be starring Will frell and it’s his first ever scripted comedy series he’ll play a fictional golf legend in a 10 episode comedy which he created with Ramy yusf and Joshua benowitz it’s executive produced by Ryan Johnson who of course is the director of knives out and one of the Star Wars movies as well no release dat specified for the series but it’s another series that will air on Netflix of course Netflix is getting into the sports game they just recently announced that they’re airing two games on Christmas day in the National Football League they just had of course Tom Brady’s roast and gonna have a lot more Sports content without a doubt coming to Netflix as well and will frell you know let’s be honest hasn’t done a ton of stuff over the last five 10 years and you know just was on Netflix appearing as Ron Burgundy so this will be a good throwback for Will Ferrell First comedy scripted series although he was on if I’m not mistaken wasn’t he on the office so I don’t know if that’s actually accurate maybe his first starring series because yeah he was on the office right at some point when uh Steve Carell left I think he took over right wasn’t he the boss for a bit anyway uh NFL schedule came out yesterday and we we have the brothers battle coming up in week 12 of the National Football League the Harbaugh Bowl the Baltimore Ravens will travel to Los Angeles to take on Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers now we’ve seen this happen before and again these guys did face off with each other previously and remember Jim Harbaugh if you may remember wasn’t just coach of the Michigan Wolverines for those of you who want to get dated back a little bit he used to be the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers not to mention these two guys faced off not mistaken in the Super Bowl as well so speaking of dial it back they’ll do it one more time and this will happen later on in the season in week 12 I would imagine the Ravens will probably be in the playoff hunt I guess the question will be will the Chargers be in the playoff hunt with Jim Harbaugh taking over there as head coach all right well that will do it for this edition of the show as I
