right golf makes welcome back down to another video I say a video basically it’s lesson Simon what have you got for us today so we’re getting a lot of questions on the channel about increasing your carry with the driver increasing the club head speed with the driver increasing the strike quality with the driver so today what we’re going to do is address all of those things for everybody so coming into the season people can really start to hit the driver a lot better and you going to show some things what you think people could be doing wrong 100% straight away and if it’s not you it could be one of your plane Partners so this video is very interesting for yourself or one of your plane Partners absolutely cuz it’s yeah everybody asks for a friend so people want to hit it further people want to hit it straighter people want to carry it more they want more Club head speed they want to hit a big high draw the three main faults that we see with people with driver the first one they’re told to get the ball up in their stance so we see the ball being actually too far forwards so when they address the golf ball the face is aiming left already their shoulders are aiming left already so if the ball’s too far forwards that club face is orientated and if I ere exaggerate that club face we can all see golf mates that that is aiming way left so if we bring that back to just inside the lead heel and just bounce that back we can see that that club face is absolutely perfect relative to the Target line so make sure in the first instance that golf Ball’s just inside your lead heel if you’ve got the ball position too far forwards you’re more likely to come over the top of it you’ll hit a doft little smother hook that goes left or you’ll back up on it and try and square your shoulders out and hit a big high slice to the right yeah so by creating perfect ball position in the first instance we’re going to have the opportunity to make sure that face is perfect because we know 85% of where the ball starts with the driver is where the face points are impact so if the face is misaligned for any reason golf ball could go anywhere the second major fault we see is people are told to get their weight back onto their right side what that does it gets the low Point miles behind the golf pool the problem is then you can hit the ground you can hit a that one you can hit too much up on it and miss it or top it so what we want is we want a little bit of pressure on the right side on the left side 55% of your pressure on your left side and we’re going to talk about the side bend in a minute so we don’t want to be back here cuz that moves a low point we want to have the ball position inside the lead heel and 55% of your pressure on your left foot now this is the real gold we know that we’re trying to create an ascending blow into impact so let’s get the ball up to lead heel let’s get a 55% of pressure on the lead side now we’re going to not going to tilt the spine angle or move the mass what we’re going to do is compress your right rib cage so you’re really going to feel that your lead shoulder goes up and your right shoulder goes down so my pressure is still in my lead foot my spine Angle now is perpendicular to my angle of attack so I can get that club working upwards through the strike that’s going to give you more carry distance because that club face is going to hold its perfect amount of LOF through impact if we get the correct amount of side band at a dress and then we try and turn and go into left side bench you’re going to hit down on that and take all the Loft off it causing again a little slice a little low horrible neck strike so the one thing we can all do as well as the best players in the world is set up to the golf ball like Tiger Woods set up like John Ram set up like Justin Thomas so we’re going to pop that club face in so we know it’s aimed at the Target we’re going to work that ball position in we’re going to 55% of your pressure here and good right side Bend now as we swing this backwards we’re just going to use the club in your arms to get it going backwards don’t think about turning as we get to the top we’ve moved the pressure a little bit out of that foot into that foot and as we change direction we’re going to put the pressure back in the left foot but hold the right side Bend so we can still see my spine angles tilted back to the right as my spine angles tilted back to the right and I get that club to shaft parallel in the down swing I then use my hands my body will decelerate as the club and my hands and arms accelerate past it that’s where speed comes from so the speed comes between shaft parallel in the down swing and shaft parallel in the follow through because that club’s going to be work at the fastest point through the bottom of the Ark perfect one of the things that people misunderstand is the shaft parallel position so what we’re really looking for at shaft parallel coming down to hit a draw we’re looking when that shaft gets back parallel with the ground that club head needs to be fractionally behind your hands as you then release the left hand into impact Club face lines up hit that dead straight and as the left hand keeps rotating that shaft parallel on the way through I’ll do this to the other camera for a minute cuz I want you to see the club face after you’ve hit it so we can see that club face is now about 35° close and vertical that’s a perfect position to help all new golf mates hit that perfect perfect perfect big high bomb [Music] draw so ball position pressure side Bend side bended chaff parallel release the club with your hands and arms big hyraw one of the ways I I explain it to people and it’s a bit of a strange one because everybody really does want to get an idea about turning we know that 80% of the distance that we hit driver is pretty much with the hands and arms from Shaft parallel to shaft parallel because your body’s decelerated so what we’re going to do and please don’t try this at home whatever you do don’t try this at home this is for demonstration purposes only my body can’t do a whole heap from there all I can do is hit that with my hands and arms little baby buet draw so I’m showing all the golf mates out there that turning is super dangerous yeah your turning motion happens as a response to a perfect swing in motion of the club in your arms so if I make a little swing the club of my arms are moving as I make that swing longer with my arms connected to my chest my shoulders start to turn my hips start to turn my pressure starts to move please please please don’t think about turning we want to swing first and turn second not turn first and swing second you’ll hit it way further you’ll carry it further you’ll hit that big beautiful draw that will really impress your friends right just like me you’ll probably think that is just as good as lesson you’re ever going to get on driving I love that I can’t wait till a go sign again if you want a lesson I’m going to put all your details up there you can do if you live abroad you can do skillest and all s absolutely if not you’re at Caris green I’m at Caris green I do iners stuff at car screen we run golf schools I’m also on skillist all the details will be in the video so please please feel feel free to email me through so use social media and have a look at my skillist account and I’ll help every golf mate in the world what I am going to say golf M Shas to Su bear what practice facilities we’ve got this is the first video you’re going to see from here uh keep watching every week you’re going to get a free golf lesser so Simon thanks very much mate my pleasure mate well done golf mates keep going

Awesome, thanks!
Simon needs a haircut, did you leave him in the cupboard since the last film 😂😂
Great lesson hopefully will be hitting 300+ yard drives from now on 😂😂😂
Thanks Simon and Liam great advice😊
Superb makes it look easy off to the driving range for me 👍
I’ve said it before
What a great bloke Simon is
How simple was that?
Well done liam and Simon 😊
Great lesson!
not mcuh to think about there then
Swing first, and turn 2nd. Is an excellent point Simon. I try to keep my back to the target as long as possible. This stops over the top move, as spinning out. Hope my golf mates are listening to this. It works for me…
I used to have a loved raw 5 or 6 years ago. 59 now and it slowly gone outta my game. Tried everything and ended up doing my back hitting too many balls at range. I,ll try this one tho ,cheers chops😮
I am an expert at watching golf coaching videos. I recon Simon is an awesome coach – he hit lots of the points I've found to work (especially ball position and the position of the club at downswing parallel – these are just so important). Awesome.
Great lesson
Palm trees at Carus Green, well, well, how climate change is affecting us. Thanks for the tip and especially the chair demo.
This Guy is good! A reset button for us all ….. Thanks Simon!
I desperately needed to see this!
👍
What a great coach lesson was very much needed thanks lads
Absolutely love Simons lessons. Had the experience of joining Simon and Adam last year on a fault and fix and planning to follow up in April. Love the whole set up at Carus Green. More please.
Absolutely cracking stuff once again from the golf mates.
The return of the ‘Rick Flair’ of the GolfMates universe!
Great video and will definitely take this lesson to the course and remember swing first then turn…thank you
Love Si, every time he inhales I come out the window to check which aircraft is flying above my house for then to realise It wasn't an airplane
Love it as always. Cheers Liam and Simon
Great tips and points to follow to provide some excellent drives brilliant easy to follow tuition from Simon, thank you Liam this will be one of the best coaching courses available
Thank You so much for the pointers 👏
Great lesson from Simon. He has a great way of explaining things.
Great lesson – will be putting that to good use this week. Please keep the lessons and tips coming.
It all looks so simple, until I give it a try ! But try I will, as the explanation at the end of the "swing first, turn last" is something I never saw anywhere else, and the demo on the chair just made sense to me. Great vid.
I'm delighted to see Simon back on the channel. I love his teaching methods and explanations.
Just been out and put this into practice.
100% fairways hit.
confusing
Thanks boys always a great watch
Brilliant as always. Wooooooooooooo 😂
I've been playing about 18 months now and feel like I'm getting no where.. just about breaking 100 when I play (once a week) i think it's due to having so many hints and tips flying around my brain when I address ball… what are the 3 main things I should be thinking when addressing the ball…. thanks golf mates
Hi Liam! I heard at Carus green that there is a golf mates and Carus green special. Can you give us some info on that?
Absolute beginner. My 3 iron and my 9 iron both go 90 yards. I'm guessing this is because I'm not putting my hips into it? How do I correct this?
Belting tip that simon !! Your gut is similar to mine so if you can do it, it gives me a chance 😂 mind you you have a lot more hair than me ,so maybee it helps to keep your balance better 😂!
Awesome Thank you
Love these videos with Simon,he explains it in simple terms, very easy to understand, hopefully it'll help🤞
Wonderful description of the Ernest Jones method of swing the club and the body follows naturally, it has no choice if you're swinging freely.
Some people make instruction complicated, Simon does the complete opposite and yet we're left more knowledgeable because of it.
Brilliant tips 👍
Well explained. Good graphics. Most high handicappers know what to do but just can't do it.
You're going to make me try this with driver and then see what I can do to incorporate the speed part with irons and hybrids. This 5' tall guy 58 year old guy with 93mph max driver clubhead speed has always believed his speed came from more of a shoulder turn.
Love Simon. Still I prefer the setup tip as referring to the lead armpit instead of heel. When I first started to drill myself on hitting upwards, I positioned it at the heel, but since my stance is not very wide, I was still having a far to large in-to-out angle at that point. Only when I realized that, and got the ball to the lead big toe, my overdraws started to straighten out.
Wonderful.Best instruction i have ever received.
Have to say Simon is a breath of fresh air. Simple lessons that really seem to help the average golfer
