down we got the Florida Panthers still celebrating their uh NHL championship the NHL award show is tomorrow followed by the draft on Friday uh that’s in Vegas like I said that’s Joe is getting ready for UFC 303 and we got some rocket mortgage classic with the stroke Man Neil Parker coming up Caleb dwey says I didn’t realize this was a wedding too hey if you saw me at 930 I I had to up the game a bit this is the only suit I own it still has tags on it when I’m not wearing a hat you know things are getting serious appreciate everybody here joining us live right now hit that like button comment did mention that Euro game between Romania and SL Slovenia at the top that’s starting now now let’s get to that there was a tweet that was circulating that both teams had talked to each other or something that this was going to be a draw I think the draw closed at even money now let me just tell you one thing if you think you’re beating an edge if you think you got you’re betting on some big information and you see a tweet has 8 billion likes and seven billion retweets you’ve probably missed the bus on value town which a lot of people have so uh don’t be that guy holding the worst number in that situation let’s go the assman is in the green room right now John metler Johnny we spent some time together there were mult mle bedrooms that’s fine right you you mentioned that we stayed together and failed to point out that this was not just a regular hotel room this was a chalet and uh we got to know each other and I apologize for having to apologize for an afternoon white claw we uh we also RI through uh a serious amount of bag bags of chips as well the going snack in our I could eat chips favorite chip off the top anything Miss Vicky for sure miss Vicky’s all dressed dominates everything now getting off chips not even getting on the NBA draft just about being a better John you’re winning better right John right I’ve seen your plays I’ve made money on your place how does John metler treat himself with his winnings are just reinvesting it immediately up in unit size are you are you paying bills with it cuz that’s not fun what is John metler buying with his winnings tell me it’s something fun uh I would say this year actually probably my focus is on upping the unit size for next season but TP typically you’re such a professional no but it is mixed into I would say vacations I definitely do turn around and take the money and you know plan a vacation with the wife and be like hey I’ll pay for the whole thing I’m using the sports betting winnings and that always goes over very very well so for me I would say it’s definitely vacation I I take a portion of it to go towards that so that’s how I like smart man Tom Tromblay in the chat says love the fit Jingles I know how old you are just by using the word fit you are under the age of 30 and uh yeah thank you very much Tom we’ll take it NBA Draft today tonight I think it’s somewhat like the NHL draft the NHL draft has the number one consensus locked up in mlin celebrini how does the consensus look across the board and do do you think there’s more value in a situation where no one knows who’s going to be picked or there’s more value in certainties in like the exacto plays from one through five um I would say I would say this draft intrigues me more just not knowing where anyone’s going and and I still think even like Zachary ret is has moved into like minus money he the pretty heavy favorite now to be the first overall pick I still think this is not as clear as it’s kind of being priced in the market just because I do think there’s a lot of Trades and I think we’ll see a lot of Trades just because is such a flat draft I think everyone will be able to move up move down you’ll be able to come up and get the guy you want and you won’t have to pay a steep price for it so I think that’s going to be like really confusing like you’re trying to bet on where these guys will go but I don’t think we even know who’s picking in these slots and that’s kind of you know I did that video for covers here I made picks one through 10 I was kind of approaching it from that angle I’d rather take some long shots and kind of go off of the side of like we don’t really know and I I I personally if the Hawks just come out and take Zachary ree first overall and that’s all they do that’s a whiff and it’s not a knock on the player I just don’t think they value uh they maximize the value of that first overall pick I still think they kind of are trying to create a scenario where they can trade this and get more so I wouldn’t be I wouldn’t be running to bet minus prices in this draft because I think it’s going to be all over the place personally yeah I saw your top 10 list I liked your approach with it $25 bets over like let’s say you’re $100 guy that 2.5 units on picks one through 10 there’s value to be made in one or even two picks being hit in in that uh in that strategy no yeah that that’s exactly what I was going for I don’t I don’t want to play the game of you’re betting a bunch of plus 100 plus 200 and you got to hit multiple five pick six picks to even turn a profit like you look at one of those a lot of them were over you know 10 to one so we place 10 bets if even if we just get one of the 10 correct we’re still going to walk away with a profit so that that was definitely what I’m going for and I think this draft speaks specifically to that kind of model where like last year like if you were looking at this last year like the top six guys they were like minus 500- 600 and it was it was nails they you know the the market had it perfectly went going into the draft there was no you know kind of upsets I think I think there could be upsets tonight just because I think again trades I think trades are gonna be a big part of this yeah variance is Big there could be some big winners in the draft could also be people whipping on basically everything right like with with the exception of uh I mean the variance of winning a lot there you can certainly lose a lot and uh my some of my biggest loss days have come on drafts they’re tough I mean everyone thinks they can rush and beat the information but it’s still a really tough Market pivoting why why are people betting on bronny number one is it like are we serious yeah the I I I think I replied to one of the twest was like that’s one way to save the algorithm in your account betting bronie number one his total he was you know last Friday when we were in our Chalet together he was 39 and a half and now it’s 49 and a half and I think I even saw the juice move to like minus 280 for the over 49 and a half so there’s like no momentum from the market at all about this guy going even going under his total like you move 10 spots 10 spots is a ton in a draft position total so the Lakers are picking 55th so I think kind of the idea is that that’s where he’s going to go if they do make the pick um the number one overall is absolutely insane there’s just absolutely no way that is what the Atlanta Hawks are doing or anyone’s trading for that so I mean yeah yeah that’s I can’t believe that it was even a thing when I saw that tweet I like how your your mind went immediately to uh masking accounts to uh masking sharpness and account to keep your to keep some activity going oh he’s oh he’s crushing baseball closing line value but $100 on bronny number one ah ER rase everything it’s all right that’s great all right so I will clip that point where you did say uh when me and you were in a chalet together that seemed slightly romantic but give me the goods Johnny give me the goods let’s go two and three let’s go exact picks and let’s go big money yeah so second overall I went with Reed Shepard you really just won’t see this anywhere I don’t it’s not even like it you won’t see in mock drafts you won’t see in rumors I just look that to me there’s you know if you’re the Hawks the Hawks have been trying to trade the first overall pick they want to they have contracts they want to move they want to maximize the value of that first overall pick and it’s kind of been rumored if they don’t take SAR and SAR Falls the two he’s automatically the pick for the Wizards if I’m the Wizards that’s exactly the narrative I would want out there because why would you want everyone to know if you are targeting Reed Shepard because the Hawks are willing to move number one and teams are willing to move up so you don’t want to risk someone jumping in front of you I look at like I don’t see why the Wizards would just automatically go for a big they need everything their back court is terrible tyus Jones is a free agent you’re the only guards they have on the roster is Jordan Jared Butler Johnny Davis Landry shamut like these aren’t they can use help everywhere and as the game evolves I think I mentioned this multiple times the Celtics to me really up the game of like three-point shooting wins in the NBA this is a guy who shot 52% from three at Kentucky that’s like insane number so like if you’re drafting two I I just don’t know why you wouldn’t look at re Shepard and obviously the plus two uh 2000 has a big part of this that’s obviously why I’m also looking at this from this angle um it’s just to me it’s it’s a little crazy that re Shepard you know he can be like minus 250 to go third but it’s like inconceivable to think he would go second when the Wizards literally have nobody in their back court so I was just taking a flower here I think Reed sheeper I think he’s more in play than that’s being priced uh nothing wrong with that number for a little pizza money if you’re not a draft guy not a bad price right like second overall usually you’re looking at maybe there’s a favorite and then somewhere around maybe the the plus 340 but uh that that’s a much bigger number but we’re kind of uh we’re stepping down a bit with three but I mean we’re still looking at another good number here in the three spot no yeah so third overall I went Donovan kingan this is the one where I I didn’t really go for a big plus price just because I I do think this probably is the spot he fits into so I didn’t I I thought it’ kind of be like a waste to go anywhere else for I thought this was I thought really thought this was going to be a trade someone coming up to get Donovan cling you’ve seen lots of rumors you know maybe the Grizzlies they need a center Markus smart that makes a lot of sense going to the Rockets he could be uh reunited udoka now you’re seeing this morning that the Rockets you know they made a couple trades last night to get draft picks it sounds like they’re Superstar hunting it’s also on the table that Al shenon could be moved if they’re moving alpr shenon they might just draft kinging themselves that’s kind of the rumor where maybe they just take this pick take kingan and then trade shanon for even more value there just seems to be so many rumors around Donovan klling it and the Spot and The Rock is our team that wants to kind of trade out of it I even saw a rumor the Hornets might come up to three to get clinging so there I just feel like there’s so many teams and I’ve seen so many different PS of clinging possibly going three I just I had a hard time going off of this I I think plus 275 I think he also if I’m going re Shepard too Reed sheeper is the favorite to go three so it also then it really brings Donovan kingan into the third spot before we get to five and six let’s take a look at information betting as it regards to drafts everybody thinks they have an edge when someone tweets out and it’s a race to the books to beat the number it initially happened some of the the early instances of that maybe the NFL draft maybe four to five years ago is where it picked up steam and now everybody thinks they have it in their portfolio and it seems in the NBA draft over the last two seasons from let’s say questionable tweets with guys tied to odds makers yeah how has it seemed to flip the other way where there seems to be more misinformation in these situations that leading to bigger Market changes where there might be some value in fading the other side of these respected journalists yeah I think there’s definitely value in fading and that that’s kind of the approach I took this year this is why I’m kind of taking these guys with these longer numbers um you know you go back two years ago they were the media was adamant Jabari Smith Jr would be the first overall pick he was trading at like minus 10,000 and ban Caro the market there’s people in the market pushing ban Caro and the media just kept saying Jabari Smith Jr eventually B Carol was the first overall pick you go last year you know Brandon Miller once again the market kind of had it right brand Miller was the favorite and then you had information come out you know oh they’re looking at scoot Henderson and that flipped that market and that was wrong once again too as Brandon Miller was actually the pick I mean you’re dealing with a thing where like you know this from drafts and stuff the Market’s moving off of these tweets and information from people but the people leaking this information are also trying to lie and deceive everyone else in the NBA like all these GMS so like it’s kind of like flipped right like we’re getting information from these reporters but these reporters are also being leaked things to help certain teams like drive a narrative right so to me the Market’s reacting off of things that are lies in my opinion so I feel like you kind of got to sift through and kind of get your own opinion and that’s why I kind of approach it from let’s take the longer odds guys because we really just don’t know right yeah and it seems like it has done a 180 shift from like I said five years ago to where people use that information to beat the odds and now it seems the overreaction is it’s kind of embarrassing I mean the books have to move right like the books with with that liquidity going into the market they have to move on that situation so just because the odds move doesn’t necessarily mean that that’s kind of where the probability lies so books are are relying a lot on that money coming in for the information but uh this is a bad spot so don’t be sued is the rule let’s go five and six give me some more Johnny yeah fifth overall I’m going Dalton connect um he’s you know I personally think this is a great fit for the Pistons they need shooting I think he would be like they need to create space for Kate Cunningham if if they’re also trying to resign Kate Cunningham to a contract you got to bring in guys like d connects like 203 he’s an older guy to me you need people who can contribute right away I know the Pistons are kind of in a rebuild so you would think they might go after someone who has like a higher ceiling and is younger I don’t think they have time for this I know they only won 14 games but like you can’t tank forever the thing is I do really do like about this is that the Pistons have also I think there’s two paths here I think the Pistons could take them and the Pistons uh have also they’ve shared you know they’re willing to move back they want to move back and the sixth overall pick dton connect has been uh connected to the Hornets a lot at the sixth overall pick he’s the favorite to go sixth overall so if the Pistons want to move back and people know the Hornets want connect at six this is also a tradein spot where someone could come in jump in front of the Hornets and take connect so it’s not necessarily to me there’s two pass like we the Pistons take them which I think is possible or the Pistons trade the pick to a team that’s trying to jump the Hornet so that’s why I’m going after this 15 to1 that’s I do think again I think trades are going to be a big part of this so that’s you know he’s not the favorite but the other thing too is matis buellis is the favorite and it’s because uh there’s I think the vice chairman of the Pistons his son is his agent so there’s like a lot of connections there but they just brought in a whole new front office so I don’t think that would I don’t think that connection as is as strong as the markets kind of playing it too so I feel like that’s Al that’s also why I’m kind of looking for a longer odds guy here too six there but there’s you knowing that how the market is overreacting to information and I mean obviously once that moves there’s value on the other side somewhere out so hats off to you yeah I I don’t like if you were a brand new GM and you’re coming in you’re not gonna be like oh yeah I’ll take the guy who’s you know his son is the agent no this is my first draft I’m making my pick right so that’s kind of how I view that so six overall Charlotte Hornets this is one I jumped on two nights ago it was 50 to1 it’s down to 20 to1 it’s Devin Carter he has been on the rise everywhere you read everyone’s you know he’s climbing the draft boards he set like records at the combine his three-point shooting was drastically improved last season I think the big thing too I’ve seen some people point out with this three-point shooting not only did he shoot at a higher percent but when you look at like what he was doing with Providence they were like deep threes and they were contested threes so if you move him into a team where you know he’s kind of more of a role player those three-point shots should be a lot easier a lot more open so he shot 37% I think from threes but those were you know really hard threes that he was taking the one thing I like about this pick if the hornet stay here I think he’s very much in play and I think he’s way more in play than this is being priced once again just because the Hornets you know you have the lamelo ball and when you watch that how all these rosters are constructed you need a point of attack Defender you need someone who can guard the perimeter that this is Devin Carter you don’t need to put another scorer beside Lamela ball if he’s a three and D guy it takes the pressure off of lamelo Ball’s defense and he’s someone who’s really good at navigating pick and rolls defense which is super important in the NBA that’s something that like really translate I just think you know you’re kind of you’ve seen Devin Carter get up to like in mock draft like 8 N I think the Hornets might jump in front and go six they kind of need someone who’s like a culture changer too and Deon Carter brings that as well so 20 to1 it was 50 to1 it’s now 20 to1 I would still play this at 20 to1 51 right 25 bucks picks one to 10 it’s a great strategy and I have blindly tailed everything knowing nothing about the draft other than not to be not to be swayed by late Shams tweets unless I’m looking at the other side John metler absolute Banger stuffff there for the draft that’s a lot of extra work you nailed those names because that’s not I know you’re not a big college guy it’s a lot of work so appreciate everybody there show John some love go follow him uh give him some thumbs up uh just just be nice to baseball plays before we get to the links there with Neil Parker let’s start things off uh producer mix going to help us out we released some stuff that absolutely got hammered from Derek cardi and the bat X projections we first released Rony conteras ladder tweeted out this afternoon three to five I’ve worked with Derek cardi often and a lot and all year long and very few plays have I seen him get excited about this and we absolutely crush this Market if you’re running to get it you’re probably too late the over 2 and a half plus 150 open there within 15 minutes of this tweet minus 105 at bet 365 it got absolutely destroyed I think the last number I saw that was decent was plus 120 at DraftKings but I’m sure that’s gone too it’s just a a matter of the book thinking that he’s going to be an opener but there could be a longer leash betting one unit across there just for grading purposes if you’re lading something like that I don’t necessarily suggest you go one unit across I do wish that I did get a little more down Hi D stop swearing in my chat because I don’t have that filter and I will read whatever you put in there please don’t get me in trouble so we dropped that one we dropped the contarus a ladder and I mean a ladder versus Oakland why not let’s go and then H eses eses one two three Joey eses under four and a half strikeouts minus 130 that was at Hard Rock always a little slow to move at that book I think there’s a minus 150 available at 365 another I mean it’s not an easy matchup but I think there’s a lot of underlying stuff within SDS he’s always projected to the under he’s had two starts versus Seattle Colorado uh maybe masking some of the stink that is esd’s so we’re on the under four and a half so always pays to follow covers X handle let’s go 72 there 17 and a half outs minus 112 I’m getting under 17 half outs minus 112 versus The Dodgers who without mookie bets are still a top three offense over the last 30 days this is a guy who was a five plus ER pitcher in Washington before he set sales to South Korea to the kbo playing for the dinos and I talked to Derrick about it on the show today he has improved as a pitcher but he is not a 3.08 erra pitcher and today is a tough matchup regression is coming for fetty and I’m willing to pay 12 cents on that dollar for the under 17 a half outs versus a loaded Dodgers lineup still and one more release play we had today milwauke Tyler black under 0.5 hitter strikeouts plus 210 got that at 365 the release still some widely available numbers within that projected to hit in the lower third of the lineup today Derrick was worried that he might hit second but this is a guy who hasn’t even played in back-to-back games so they’re not very enthralled with Tyler black who is trivia Rod Black’s son Rod black TSN analyst Rod black that’s his son and we’ve hit a lot of these this year his price is based on more his MLB numbers over a small sample size versus a larger sample size of what he was as a Minor League hitter 11ks is through 33 MLA plate appearances he’s not a 33% K guy it’s going to be lower we’ve seen it we’ve done it with Amador this is going to be a good spot plus 210 is a gigantic number now to slow things down get a little hairy nobody knows what TSN is you don’t know because you’re 18 years old Dell let’s go you’re interrupting you’re interrupting a very a serious mood golf was turned into a political game last week at the 18th at TPC River Highlands and here to talk about those political ramifications covers golf analyst Neil Parker as I’m calling him the stroke man we’re not talking about politics but did you avoid Chaos on the 18th hole last week are did did you have anything going or or were you lucky enough to avoid uh avoid any of the mess that wax uh politically or poetically with you but the whole thing just sort of reminded me of a uh old George Carlin joke in the aftermath so so I know our viewers are definitely resourceful enough to uh get to the bottom of that uh but it’s a good joke and while you’re at it look up the Robin Williams Golf joke too it’s a it’s a real Banger knee slapper but yeah um unfortunately Tony like happy that Kim hit that putt right like if Kim didn’t hit that putt it kind of would yeah that would have yeah that would have really put a damper on it for sure absolutely Jingles all right buddy tour rolls into the rocket mortgage Classic this week to the Mean Streets of Detroit at the generically named Detroit Golf Club seen pictures it’s beautiful wasn’t what I was expecting supposed to be a birdie Fest but Neil how the hell am I supposed to pick a winner if Scotty Sheffer isn’t in the field is this is this the spot where everyone’s like now we got a chance yeah for sure and I mean we’ve seen a number of these uh water downfield or opposite field events where some players have stepped up so that’s sort of some of the those are a few of the guys that I’m looking at this week started off Maverick mcney uh outright we got earlier this week at plus um 3,000 or yeah plus 3,000 uh he’s down now but I also like his um top 20 Market because this event really sets up well for Maverick mcneel he’s played well here in the past is to T showing in 2020 t21 in 2021 say that five times fast but he’s also going low this season with the fourth lowest scoring average on tour and he’s also 21st in bird or better percentage and he just really has a well-rounded game eth and true Strokes gain T de Green in this field across his past 10 events and I’m also encouraged that he’s finished top 25 in three straight tournaments that were in a much tougher field so Maverick mcne is a guy that I like he’s got a complete game and he’s played well here in the past I think I just looked I think he’s a number five betting favorite on the outright so he’s up there but more importantly I was very disappointed with the lack of facial hair from Maverick mcney for a guy I’ve never seen with that name amazing name I was respecting him full beard full bomber jacket no just uh absolute gem Stanford smart his parents are billionaires uh so maybe uh the Maverick mcney train who doesn’t want to root for Maverick mcney uh couple more plays from Parks let’s go let’s go like you and John are hammering these big number plays let’s keep it going yeah so I was just gonna say though I think you had bo weekly in mind or boo weekly in mind look him up that’s who you were thinking uh so another guy I like this week is Davis Thompson and this will be Thompson’s first event since his standout or breakout T9 showing at the US Open where he finished 12th and true Strokes gain T to Green uh he also ranks third in this field in true Strokes gain T to Green dating back to his career best T2 finished at the Myrtle Beach Classic in May so that was another opposite field event so he’s proven that he can contend when the world’s best aren’t teeing it that week I also value that he’s 18th in scoring average on tour this season he showed well here last year he improved in each round round to cap it off with a Sunday 67 finished t24 and he was fourth and true Strokes gained off the T what I like about that is um the sight lines he sees them well to set himself up for scoring opportunities um off the te and then you know solid secondary shots he’s in position to capitalize and the last is Aaron raw and the Englishman is uh playing pretty well um he has consecutive top 20 finishes ranks ninth and scoring average on tour this season and he mitigates his lack of distance off the tea with Precision so finding Fairway sets raw up to take advantage of his greatest strength which is his approach play he’s also been tiddy around the greens of late too he’s second in this field and true Strokes gained he to Green across his past 20 rounds dating back to his T4 finish in the Byron Nelson and you guessed it another uh watered downfield when the world’s best weren’t teeing it up and I’m also encouraged that raw gained true Strokes on The Greens at Pinehurst at the US Open difficult putting uh conditions and he finished t19 so if his ground if his game is firing on all cylinders he’s going to be right there too so top 30 for raw top 20s for mcneel and Thompson when we got them earlier this week um I’m sure those odds are long gone but there’s still plus money plays across the board and also sprinkles on the outright um also I’ll just leave this two Jingles Taylor Moore is a player on Fading this week it’s in the article on covers.com he’s in terrible form he’s had consecutive amazing top 10 showings at this event but he’s missed the cut in three of his past four events one that he didn’t missed the cut was a no cut event so if you can pick on him in some matchups uh I targeted two against Bobby Mack um the Scotsman in the overall 72 hole matchup and then also Davis Thompson in round one um to top Taylor Moore so that’s about it for me buddy that’s that’s a lot of plays in the cards there seen a little rain ejected for Saturday in Detroit don’t know if that holds up give me a winning score number we called birdie Fest how big how low are we going this weekend well it’s gone into 20 every except for once and so I mean you’re looking at 22 23 24 under like it they’re going deep if you don’t if you shoot 70 or above in one round you probably can’t win okay so if you’re looking to get in L late like most people are Thursday like oh I missed my ticket I got nothing action maybe don’t try to find someone that’s four strokes behind that can maybe uh catch up well In fairness though we did see uh cam young just fire a 59 or 58 or whatever he shot this past week right so like there is potential for someone to to Career it shoot a 60 and then get right back in the tournament but I I really don’t think you can there’s going to be like a Saturday comeback or a Sunday comeback of that magnitude like I think you need to be it’s probably going to be a winner who is you know holding Pace with the field and then shoots that 62 63 on Sunday to win right like you know it uh I I really think you’re gonna have to go low and that’s why another statistic to keep in mind is uh Birdie the bogey uh ratio and that’s another reason that I really faded Taylor Moore is because he’s like 120th on tour in it or something like so anyway
