good evening to you carve good to see you uh I know you’ve just made it out of the stadium your initial thoughts and uh initial reaction to that score tonight well I thought it was a really uh disappointing England performance same old England really I think the problem started uh with the starting 11 that Gare Southgate picked uh the side just looked totally unbalanced that starting 11 again the same starting 11 as a Serbia game had three right backs in it and no recognized left backs at all and I think we really need to start talking now about ending the Trent Alexander Arnold experiment it just does not work having him in Midfield next to Declan rice yes he’s a brilliant player but I don’t think he’s a central Midfield player yet at this level he’s not what England need in the center of Midfield I thought England were actually lucky not to lose this game uh because the second half uh Denmark were giving as good as they were getting I think their manager may have told them to keep shooting from long range I don’t know how many people are aware but a new ball is being used in this tournament and Harry Kane was telling us a few days ago that the ball uh favors Strikers and forwards rather than goalkeepers I think it’s lighter it moves more and that was a real feature of Denmark’s game so we’re back where we are again where we’ve been again so many times talking about a disappointing England performance when we should have been talking uh about England winning their first two Euro games in a row that had never happened before they could have done that today and also if they’d won they would have been into The Knockout stages already uh they would have been guaranteed finishing first it would have meant that against Slovenia Gareth Southgate could ring the changes but I think now there is a feeling that it’s back to the drawing board for Gareth Southgate because he’s going to face a lot of criticism because the bottom line is England weren’t good enough today here in Frankfurt went one on up against Serbia and took off took England took their foot off the gas uh it seemed that similar happened tonight as well just from what you saw could you see a noticeable difference from the way England played before they gone one up and after uh I think they started did really well uh they scored a good goal Kyle Walker excellent really tenacious uh winning the ball on the right putting the cross in okay it took a couple of deflections uh Harry Kane was there England got the perfect start uh Kane scored his what 64th goal for England his 47th goal of the season but then he started to go wrong again you could feel that England was sitting back they were playing too deep their midfielders weren’t getting to the ball quick quickly enough they were giving Denmark too much room and it’s a feature of tournament football at this level is when you score the opposition are going to respond and it’s up to you to respond to their response as well and we haven’t been seeing that from England when they score they’re not pushing on trying to get the second goal they’re being too passive I’m not sure if that is the fault of the players or that is the fault of the side that Gare Southgate has picked because it’s un balanced England a very good down the right Walker sacker that’s where the goal came from they’re unbalanced disjointed down the left Kieran Tria he’s a he’s a great player he’s a great right back but the balance isn’t quite right with having him as the left back and the balance isn’t quite right with having Phil foden on the left either and that’s where uh Denmark’s goal came from it came from an England throw in Harry Kane was deep in his own half he was been criticized for playing two far forward against Serbia it looked like he was drifting in coming back trying to get involved in the play when he didn’t really need to he gave the ball away and then we saw the England Midfield too too late uh to close down uh Morton Helman and his strike good strike beat uh Jordan pford and that was the goal that Denmark deserved and Denmark could have won the game they had chances uh to win the game as well so I think England will have to consider themselves pretty lucky to be leaving here with a draw because they could have lost easily and they’re pretty lucky to still be top of the group because that’s two performances that haven’t been great and this performance I think was worse than the performance against Serbia because at least against Serbia uh the first half was very good Carvey one of the things often leveled at Gareth Southgate is that he perhaps doesn’t make the changes during the match when he should and when he does make the changes perhaps they’re not the right changes so we saw the likes of Conor Gallagher come on in the second half Jared Boeing olle Watkins and eere E what did you make of their introduction do you think that England’s bench was impressive tonight I think first of all uh Gare Southgate was bold uh you know he didn’t hang around he made substitutions quickly I’m sure he’s aware of the fact that he’s been criticized in the past for not making substitutions quickly enough he was very bold I mean bold or Hardy you make your mind up because he took off three of his best players with 20 minutes to go uh in foden Kane and sacka I think the crucial change was the one he made it earlier uh after what 53 minutes really early in the second half he decided to take Trent Alexander Arnold off and bring on Connor Gallagher and that gave the side a better balance they looked much more settled but I think still uh Denmark sented that they could go on and get the winner I think K down the left Jared Bowen was down the right OE Watkins I thought made a difference when he came on because he gave uh the Danish center backs the back three something to think about uh with Harry Kane on the pitch and Jude Bellingham behind him they didn’t have to worry about running somebody running in behind them when Watkins came on that is something that they had to worry about you could see them uh moving further back and giving England a little bit more space so certainly Gareth Southgate has to make changes because I don’t think he can pick that starting 11 again I suppose you can give him some credit for recognizing that things were going wrong and making changes but I could hear inside that stadium look this game started off as a celebration England fans had had a great day uh in Frankfurt they were in really good voice everybody was having a good time the perfect start with that Harry Kane goal but towards the end of the game the mood had totally changed I could hear pockets of England fans criticizing some of the players and criticizing G Southgate as well it’s up to them now to respond against Slovenia

  1. I am a dane England have a lot of stars, but not a team and Denmark have a team but no stars.

  2. Cole Palmer in, Foden at CAM, Bellingham and Rice at CM

More pace needed on the team

Maybe Mainoo also in team to control midfield

The experiment of Trent at CDM doesn’t work

  3. Problem with England is simply they aren't a team (either tactically or in personally). You could see it when TAA came off for Gallagher. The two players would barely look at each other.

It's the same crap that was happening 20 years ago with the so-called "golden generation" where the Man U players wouldn't sit with the Chelsea players at breakfast.

Until someone can come along and get all these prima donnas to work for something more than themselves and their clubs, England are never gonna win anything.

  4. Football English team would have won Europe 2020 Kane was missed golden chances penalty 85 minutes goal England vs Italy 2-1 but Kane was mistaken in his career. Finally Italy penalt won Europe also won 2020 . English team many matches played club. English team is best cricket t20 world Cup champions now cricket in England cricket better than football England team. England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 team is best cricket better than football . 🇪🇸 Spanish team is looking all youngest player

  5. The English view that they have a team to win a major competition and these Euros is myopic and wrong. They have some good individual players that are made better by other foreign players at their clubs. When assembled as a team they are not that good. There is a reason Foden does well when he plays the Guardiols system and Rodri controls the game. England lack the players to be able to control a game. It is not Southgate's fault but they need to solve this in coming years. Most English fans have no idea what they are looking at. They are simply not there yet to win a tournament. I suspect Southgate knows this.

  6. Can't put my finger on why they were so bad, as said it was diabolical. if it's the system, surely the players should be telling Southgate they're not happy.

  7. woeful, an absolute shambles. Same old England, nothing from Kane (again) except a tap in, no pressing, nothing even remotely interesting. God I was so bored, its so bad I cant even bare to watch it. Southgate hasn't got a clue

  8. The whole country sees Southgate does not attack enough or start the right team . He should put foden where he plays best as the number ten then put saka left wing and palmer right wing Declan rice himself dm put bellginam as the number ten with foden also number ten that’s more all out attack play to ur strength . Then u bring on Kobe Second half and ezeh and Gordon and Tony that’s how we will win all out attack more speed with ur strongest skill with ur strongest team

  9. It’s not about Trent. The forwards are not getting in behind. Trent has no one to pass too… don’t use him as a scapegoat

  10. Sack southgate just like Ivory coast did and the rest is history.
They sacked french man Gasset and employed Emerse Fae

  11. Same old England really… Zero strategy from Southgate.. Look at how Lionel Scaloni managed the Argentine team &learn something 😐

  12. I have the impression that coach Southgate may be suffering from depression – which leads to this anxious style of play. I can't explain England's style of play any other way. Great potential talents fizzle out because they follow the manager's instructions, among other things. Garreth steals the joy of football from the players, if only through their positioning on the pitch and the resulting "neutered" movement and running routes… I'm almost shocked because I had so many expectations of ENG (even though I'm a Spain fan)!

  13. “Same old England”…
Yet most of these broadcasters, pundits and media had England as one of the favourites, but now the team isn’t doing too well, it’s the “same old England”!
The whole lot of you a bias bullshitters!!

  14. Indeed, the same old England, the same old approach to international tournament football. That does not come from the managers as such, but the body that choses them and infests the culture around England. The FA is the cause. It iis the same competition after competition.

  15. Mate it started with the announcement of the squad I could see that it was unbalanced then.
Instead the media was too busy defending signing ‘it’s coming home’

  16. The only people that consider this England team to be quote “world class” are the embarrassingly delusional English media! LOL!

  17. Joshua Kimmich is a great player in Midfield but Germany prefers him in right back. England should try the same. I have always believed dropping Grealish was a very very big mistake. he will not play well every game, but there will be a game or 2 in a tournament where he will be the one you need. Bowen, Gordon, Toney are all good players, but I would have dropped one of them for Grealish.

  18. Disappointment is directly linked to expectation so all you knockers have to take some blame on yourselves. Wanting your team to win is natural, expecting it is arrogant. Crying when you don’t get what you want is simply childish. Also I think many of you do Denmark a disservice. Much better Euros pedigree than ours, former champions and debatably only a Sterling dive away from the last final. I’ve seen the likes of 4-1 Holland '96 mentioned here well newsflash folks – this was an isolated good result among the usual uninspiring fare. In '96 we stank v Switzerland 0-0 and only a poor offside decision stopped Spain knocking us out in the quarters. Scotland were a missed penalty away from equalising before Gazza dazzled. All in all I see nothing different here. Tournament football is tough and even eventual champions seldom stroll to the title without the odd hiccup here and there. Getting angry is no help whatsoever and I find all of this self-entitled grumbling baffling, irritating and amusing in equal measures.

  19. Southgates motto is pass then pass some more and then keep passing sideways then backwards until we lose it then repeat and start again until we lose it then repeat……etc 😉 😅

  20. At least 1 billion pounds worth of players and not one could last more than 15 minutes then turn to same old rubbish time for new forward thinking manager not score and defend ,,ritch players no reason to fight

  21. The press stoke up the public and they ,in turn , put pressure on the team. That is completely negative and helps no one.

  22. “A very disappointing England performance, same old England really” – the reporter was really very tactful indeed in using these words – many, if not most people, would use stronger words to describe the performance, and to say England were poor is putting it extremely mildly, to say the least. I am sure Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny could play better football than the England players did in this game!

  23. SOUTHGATE SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOT THE JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE……..2016
F A CONSTANT INTEFERENCE IS ONE OF THE REASONS FOR THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF ENGLAND IN INTERNATIONAL GAMES………..ITS FOOTBALL MATCH NOT CHESS!
