after finishing the third round in a three-way tie for the lead at the Price Cutter charity Championship Chandler Phillips said this about Sunday’s opportunity if you win well it must be your week if you don’t better luck next time pretty nonchalant for a guy who’d have his title hopes come down to one swing on the 72nd hole day four of The Price Cutter charity Championship featured two of The Season’s best players in the final group Phillips and Pearson cudy tied at 20 under to start the round both players already notched a victory earlier in the year and are well on their way to gaining their PGA Tour card since they’re inside the top 30 point standings but it was Phillips who said the tone early here on the parf five first hole he drains this 10-ft putt for eagle and back that up with a birdie at two vaulting himself to minus 23 third straight day the Texas A&M Alum was 200 under or better in his first three holes as for Cy he was not firing on all cylinders like yesterday when he was four under through his first Trio of holes today he was just one under on the round through his first seven but then at eight the grandson of 1971 Masters champion Charles Cy flicked a switch and threw a dart after laying up on the par five he’d hold that to move into a tie with Phillips at 22 under then on nine Cy’s Drive found the right rough but his approach was Pitch Perfect backto back birdies gave him a One-Shot Edge going to the back nine but to win a golf tournament there’s a bit of luck involved and chipping in for Eagle on the par 51th was the break Chandler Phillips was looking for his Eagle made him a co-leader at 24 under after Cy followed with a tap in birdie so standing in the Fairway on the par 51 18th trailing by Two Shots Phillips elected to go for the green knowing only an eagle could tie if cudy parred the hole but his hopes drowned in the water with his errant shot so with the pressure off Cy safely hit the Green in three and tapped in his par putt to win the 34th annual Price Cutter charity Championship with a total of 25 underpar I mean it’s it’s so cliche but like it’s hard to put into words cuz it still doesn’t feel real it’s probably not going to feel real for a few days I’m just happy didn’t come down to last tournament or something like that I was kind of in a little bit of a of a funk and uh it’s crazy that one week in golf can uh change everything and change your mindsets so obviously just a static with where things are right now C’s second victory of the season is a very special one he could not wait to share with his grandfather he’ll probably be the first person I call after all this it’s he I guess gave golf to our family and uh Park my dad played professionally now park and I are pursuing professionally and it’s been the goal of my whole life so it’s yeah it’s just crazy with eight events still left on the calendar who knows Cy could earn one more Victory and automatically jump to the PGA tour for claiming three titles in the same season either way Pearson Cy’s second win of 2023 comes in the Ozarks at the 34th annual Price Cutter charity championship
