oh my that’s an easy piss holy P oh my God hey guys welcome back to episode two of our exclusive series watch as myself and luk take our bodies further than we’ve ever taken them before in today’s episode we’re going to talk about our fitness you might be asking yourself how fit our professional Straw Men and can we actually run for a long period of time make sure you watch until the end of the episode as we test our new fitness to the Limit and see if we’re able to complete a 5k run so as Tom and I mentioned in the last episode we made a commitment to each other to work harder than we’ve ever worked before by doing more runs by doing more Fitness doing more conditioning by really increasing that workload in every session we’ve done so for us conditioning is anything that will raise the heart rate up and then what you want to see is your heart rate coming back down quickly or as quick as it can over a period of time so your heart rate’s going up really fast and it takes longer to come back down that shows you that you’re not as fit as you should be conditioning will really help take that heart rate down a lot quicker so obviously like our conditioning kind of differs slightly you’re getting out there you’re getting the movement and out in the tarm mark like Mo far you’re a big mate um so how how you feeling that s since you started it first time I did it I was like 185 kgam guy going for a run what uh what’s the worst thing that going happen and uh I just found it easier outside Outdoors because I just couldn’t do it in the gym so that’s why I was like right let’s just run so I think it was like okay I did the thing for me I’m not a runner but for me it was just about to keep moving so if I run for half a k I wouldn’t go on my I wouldn’t be stopping and going on my knees I would walk get my heart rate down a wee bit you know kind of get the breathing and control and then run again the running really helped me with a rhythm of the movement and also the rhythm of breathing and that’s the two things you know if you get right if you get the Rhythm up right when you’re doing events and you get the breathing right those two things together can add so much to what my and Luke have got already which is strength and that’s why I’m doing it as well and also it makes me feel really really good I mean being out in Outdoors 7 in the morning when it’s a nice day kind of like a challenge it’s like the cold water for Luke it’s like if I do this and get past this in the day I would be conquered setting hard and the rest of the day is going to be easy running for myself has been a big massive wake up but it’s also been an amazing thing that I’ve added into my routine and I love doing hey guys it’s time for a quick break this video is sponsored by hello friend hellofresh delivers high quality pre prep meals straight to your door that was easy hellofresh is perfect for people like myself and Luke who have got a busy lifestyle and a busy schedule Luke what are we cooking today oh I’m glad you asked big guy we have got chicken G is one of my favorite with honey saracho Bento rice and all other bits and pieces so it looks amazing we’re going to get prepping are you looking for fresh new recipes perfect for the sunny days ahead hello fresh has you covered using our code stalman 4fl you get 60% off your first box plus threee desserts for Life click the link in description or scan the QR code to learn more I think that was quite a good job we miss an ingredient oh toy sauce oh that’s nice tasty that is it that makes it well good oh boys thanks hellofresh this is absolutely delicious dinner is solved hello fresh feeding the world’s strongest brothers so we put it to the test and we joined a local running club that is run by Sean Clark who’s a coach at the stokman Academy so we went and joined his run Club on a Sunday and we wanted to see if we could keep up with the guys that were in that club and to see how fit we are and see if we could actually complete the 5K run so let’s see how two professional strong men get on come on Tomy big that’s an easy pie holy it’s about it’s not it’s not a Sprint it’s a it’s not that’s well ja P going on [Applause] [Music] just taking over anyway my right leg are aning H my right leg and I’m shaking as well shaking like they’re shaking these are Sundays I’m a straw man I should EA Easter ice morning oh my god oh they’re going jell see you back Tom probably treating the wrong way we have lost Tom everybody oh well done it’s actually done the 5K it was pretty tough I’m the heaviest man to ever do a 5k I and uh even sean at the start said you can turn back but I don’t turn back so we asked our cameraman that films us Tom capture us at the start so he did that middle didn’t do that and the end when we ran back here there was no one in sight so guys let’s do this right put in the comments Tom has to write a 5k yes or no 5K Tom no run Tom has to try and run a 5k Tom owner right uh run a 5k comment yes thank you yes so guys you just saw the footage of big Tom myself running the 5K it was surprising to see that we could actually do it you know we we’re not breaking any records the guys that are running in the running club are very good athletes very good Runners and also you know it’s let’s not kind of miss the point that we’re exceptionally heavy you know we’re probably twice the normal body weight of of a human being you know so certainly Tom is so but I was pretty happy you know we just kept Tom talks about it earlier on in the video about that Rhythm about that breath we’re not going to keep up with these guys but I thought it was really good I thought it was quite a nice way of spending Easter Sunday with with you out running the 5K yeah I mean it was uh very very good I think as well when you look as we shouldn’t even be able to complete like a 1K and stuff or 2K and know it’s going through my head but I think it’s once you get past that first bit you know you hear everyone talk about a runner’s high and uh it’s like you know when you’re in a gym and you LIF weights you get that high but the first part of that run I was like crap I want to quit but then I just you get past that and then all of a sudden it just kind of your heart rate stays at the same bit you you kind of get your head into it then and then it’s just kind of about the Rhythm and you know we didn’t we didn’t run the whole way we what run what run but the most important thing was we just kept moving and we just we did it together know joining a running club for two professional stman is uh daunting as well because you see these guys in front of you and you’re like who these guys are running like 15 20 minutes but like I said you don’t think about them it’s like when you first step into a gym you think about yourself we’re did it together we just made sure we could cross the line together and boom so guys we hope this gave you an interesting Insight on whether or not strong men can actually run and maybe the results surprised you as always stay safe smile and stay spicy and please don’t ever stop ringing that little Bill ding

  1. I hope you’re wearing good shoes. Butterbean (the boxer) weighed 190kg at his heaviest and for some time after his retirement couldn’t walk. He attributed that to his weight and having to run to maintain cardio.
That said, boxing is a contact sport and that undoubtedly also had something to do with it.

  2. Fastest 5k I’ve ran was getting chased of the police in 2002
Hats of you doing it with no one chasing you lol ✌️

  3. Cracking stuff lads, it would be good if the stolman bros could team up with some of the local authorities champion 5k run/cycle rides to get people in the deprived areas of scotland out and about in a safe environment…..watched a darren mcgarvey doc some time ago …and boy oh boy the picture painted was thougherly depressing. On a good note, keep it up lads …. l've been told myself to improve agility and take up other sports to get those extra few percent gains you wouldn't get from focused sport specific training

  4. As someone whos got into running the last few months this will be interesting 😂 slow and steady as im sure you know, builds endurance the best. My goal is a sub 20min 5k by the end of the year and a 45min 10k

  5. Even Walking is great, no stress on your joints. 5k a day and the fat will depart your body. Take your Wives with you!!!! Check out Eddie Halls video with Magnus Mtball doing cardio in the boxing ring!!!

  6. I recently attempted to order some Hello Fresh, hoping that they might have expanded their delivery area to include Elgin. Unfortunately, it turns out that they still do not deliver to this area. Do they deliver to Invergordon?

  7. Never mind all this park run shenanigans. Your hoodies have been sold out for weeks! Get stocked up asap boys!

  8. I did the 3 peaks challenge 25 years ago when I was 29 it’s about 28 miles over 3 mountains Ben Nevis -scarfell Pike & Snowdonia all in one weekend it was killer took us 26 hours in total .

  9. Get a strava and track your times – work to improve month on month and hold yourselves accountable

  10. Route looked lovely! Running is great for cardio and mental health. Just look after your joints, guys 🙂 Well done for finishing a 5K!

  11. Glad to see you guys. Thomas Henley's autistic youtube channel led me here I'm a runner and realized I'm autistic at 34 and I don't know many autistic people in sports & fitness, I have been really bad at team sports.

  12. Horses for courses. I'm the opposite – I can run but need to learn how to lift. Stepping out of your comfort zone is hard!

  13. To have a brother supporting each other's like best friends is the best thing in life, and especially both sharing the same path and working through together supported each other tbh not many siblings are this close. 💯 respect ❤

  14. 2:00 running made you win WSM. 100%

I cannot understand how it's not a staple in strongman training across the board. It also improves core endurance and activation and glute activation and shakes out the limbic system fluids leading to better recovery and health (and strength)

Just guys your size should run for time not for distance. And forget the "easy pace" stuff – you have to be really lean to get into a real easy pace – your form will suffer. What you were doing was perfect for your size with you having to take a breather – means your whole body is working right in good coordination with good effort.

  15. The more you run on the ball of your foot, the less stress your ankle, knee and hip take. Strong feet are also helpful for strongman, since you're standing so often, and everything is stabilized through the feet.
