[Music] [Applause] welcome to another episode of the drive presented by odd Checker my name is Andy wack I’m joined as always by Jeff fineberg we are back this week for another signature event this time with no Boogeyman at the top of the board how are you feeling heading into Quail Hall um think a big step up in in Golf Course coming off a bit of a sleepy week in Dallas yeah certainly a big step up I think an extended sort of Step Up in golf courses I’m okay Andy uh you know watched last week I I if you watched last week I rode that bus around the Taylor pendrith bus stop but we didn’t stop there we didn’t we didn’t stop there I really wanted to bet him but truth is like the reason like why would why do you like T or why do you want to bet Taylor pendri this week well kind of be like the same reason I often bet him is because at the Canadian open last year he was really nice to me and let me walk inside the ropes with him for a practice round at my course I didn’t think that was a good enough reason to actually bet him in the end hey it is what it is I’m happy for him a good Canadian boy getting it getting it done I’d have felt worse if nap one because I said you just beg guys who full send it that was one out 100 to one who I probably was staring at more despite not talking about it but truth be told got to be responsible this week Andy because we not only have well Well Fargo we got a little thing in their little beach going on and two events the week before major gotta be careful not to catch myself getting Overexposed because next week a major that’s like my favorite hobby in the world is betting major championship golf responsibly so I don’t want to like find myself in a big big hole because there’s two events this week but hey we’ll fire it got a couple bets already in on each yeah I can’t believe the the PJ Championship is already a week away it feels like we’re just getting together to break down the Masters but yeah we’re here um and this week in Quail um it feels a lot more wide open just with sheffer’s absence I mean I you look at the board and we’ve got Rory as the favorite at to one is the best number using that odds Checker golf grid Rory’s won three times at Quail Hollow um I I do think that he is a deserving favorite although I would maybe litigate the the gap between him and players like Xander and ludvig and Windam I think you could make pretty strong cases for all of them so at the top where where are your eyes going on those first couple of golfers sub20 yeah I think Rory at 8 is an un fair to be perfectly honest it’s sort of um you know my first reaction this week was maybe I will bet one of Rory or ludvig uh I’d argue of all the four guys under 20 to one I don’t know like do Xander deserve to be that much shorter than wendam Clark I think I don’t think considered yeah right you know L I’d argue like well it’s so frustrating what his price is I know if you remember what his price was when he made his debut on the tour like yeah he was short then he’s like you know clearly proven himself and shorter now on any L viig smoke on these Big Boy golf courses right like let me ask this is not to Sidetrack us are you shocked whatsoever if ludvig closes at shorter odds for the PGA Championship than John R we’ll see I think this week would have a lot to do with it but yeah I mean what a what a flattering note like blig it’ll be his second major and if you look at the board right now he’s sort of within a point or two of Brooks Brooks and John ROM so that’s what I’m saying like ROM’s 14 to1 and ludvig’s 16 to1 if ludvig plays well this week that’s getting reversed and there’s no reason to think let’s be honest that ludvig won’t play well I mean every time he’s gone to a course you’re like yeah I’m pretty sure that’ll work for him he seems to play well this is all to say um I am C I’m clearly think about betting ludvig I don’t think the number is that wrong either like you know obviously I’m a bit of a fanboy I don’t know he’s as he is as what feels like reliable as I want to say I trust him as much as like any player who isn’t Rory right now to play really well in any given event and I want to say Scotty but Scotty’s not here and Rory you know obviously off a half win um I trust leig I think his head is as clear as any top player in the world at this moment that who isn’t Sheffer yeah I mean maybe even more than than Sheffer on baby Duty presumably the next week and a half um but I’m I’m haven’t made a move um I I start my card at at 30 but I I wanted to ask you just one thing about the players in the 20s um I think the golfer that I’m most fascinated to watch this week is Victor havet because I have said in December um I’m not holding a future but you may be I have said in December that if I was building a golf course for Victor havin it would be Valhalla zoa Fairways mirfield Village Jack Nicholas favors of power fade off the tea um so I really want Victor to show signs of life but then not blow his low too early right because I think if he shows me anything I will be right there ready to go for him at the PGA but if he shows you too much right if Victor hin finishes third this week he’s probably right back down to 20 to1 for uh for bhalla so you kind of stole a question and I guess to do a tease me and Andy will be going a bit more long form this week I’ll be joining him on his uh podcast you’ll find that certainly on on his feed and I’ll I’ll throw that out that would be my question to you Andy like we don’t usually get this the week before a major so I’m not usually looking like while a PJ event is on like oh have a major board sort of about the sidescreen yeah I guess you answered my question which would have been who’s the player you watching this week and you are certainly hoping to see play well and then go hit a book who is you know sort of a little slower to reacting I get yeah if you see Victor showing signs of life I mean this is a sports car but out of the engine could be broken so yeah I mean he’s like Humpty Dumpty he’s falling off the wall has he put the pieces back together again golf is so weird like maybe I hope so um I don’t know what to make of it I don’t know that I’m ready to step in front of it this week um you know I’m fascinated by kentley does his one R like does his good performance at Heritage mean a ton he always plays well there was nice to see Max get on track at the Masters do I care he didn’t play Bad at Heritage no is Tommy Fleetwood playing probably better golf more consistent golf than all these guys in the last bit yes happy to see his number go up from like the 22 I woke up at this morning now seeing a 28 available on the odds Checker grid maybe that even gets to 30 um but yeah I don’t know I I’ve sort of I have not made a bet uh in front of 30 into the 30s I could be talked into not there’s not many guys that we’ve mentioned that I could be talked into thus far Andy I’ll be honest um so I’ll get that so have you have you made any moves do you have any bets down before I give you the two guys at 30 33 that I’m on have you made any moves yeah and I say this as someone that’s done it a lot this year and I say this that when I wake up I don’t know that everyone else is going to do it I do it before I hear any other people do it I’m a sucker for it I bet cam young at 35 to one this morning Andy I couldn’t I couldn’t resist it feel like it’s a perfect course for him uh as I kind of think next week so yeah I’ve done it again I’ve bet cam young but right in front of it I’m looking at hii um and then around it and behind them I’m looking at a couple names as well but I don’t have a good I do not seem to have a good vibe on what I want to do this week and maybe by default I’ve selected Camy young yeah maybe I can because me on JT what do you what you s me on yeah I mean what is what is the argument for cam young over JT right now like JT just finished fifth at the Heritage he beat cam young young at the Heritage by what 15 Strokes he’s been unbelievable at Quail Hollow he won a major here um he’s he’s start he’s actually putting a lot better now than cam young and he gain Strokes in all four major categories at the Heritage um and it’s a tremendous Golf Course fit um like he’s you know he’s like I said he one a major here but he’s also finished he’s played well at the Wells Fargo here as well and the putter really started to come alive for him at the Wells Fargo and just off the tea in general like he can get away with some looseness off the tea so to me like JT Market corrects every cam young argument at the same number um I I I love JT this week uh I really do like I I think he is a he he was very kind to me in DFS when people thought he was broken at the Heritage um and I mean I think he’s a great play this week I really do so I bet JT first thing this morning at 33 to1 yeah I saw those 33s I like them I don’t mind them even 30 to1 I think is is fair um I’m nothing against it to compare it to cam young I put them pretty close so yeah their numbers are um are I guess close in terms of you know my trust in either one to win shockingly isn’t like that different despite one guy having never won and one guy being like a double digit lifetime tour winner a lot of encouraging signs um around with JT I also write in this like seeing hii get to his high as 35 to one Andy I mean this was a guy who excuse me clearly went into the masters with so much hype from like us us betters maybe a little too much hype he had a really bad round to start things off and it kind of sewered any chance to win I have no issues with him taking the Heritage off I feel like a nice rested Hideki uh at 35 to1 is also maybe a better bet than both Justin and cam so it’s uh it is this area of the board where I have started and would probably continue to add on because hey truth be told when we’re in elevated events if you know me like not going to get too deep down a a board uh I seem to trust the big players and I as we’ve discussed I don’t know there’s so few players at the very top that I trust that in my opinion this is where I think um I don’t know the fairest numbers seem to seem to exist so I might pepper all three guys I just mentioned yeah the other player that I would mention is I mean doesn’t it feel like time for seah I mean doesn’t this feel like a very natural stepping stone for him he’s you know he finished second at the Heritage he’s hitting the ball incredibly well like he’s developed into one of the best long iron players in this field um he’s driving the ball really well right now he can get hot on the greens um this feels like a very natural next step for seah to win I know some people like him at Valhalla next week I I’m not necessarily there yet on him winning a major but I mean this feels like a very very sound natural progression in his career trajectory can’t argue any of that like just he could go with that group we just spoke about I’d honestly l once Fleetwood hits 30 to1 I could maybe throw him in this group of um that’s where my favorite bets on the board could be this week and yeah it would be a very natural trajectory we’ve seen this course be a break well I wouldn’t say like a breakthrough well yeah I mean the GU only w why winning an elevated event like we’ve seen well uh Wells Fargo Quail Hollow be a breakthrough win Road our lives so H would fit that narrative fit that narrative well I like all the things that he does so yeah um this is like again that is the part of the board that like low 30s where I think I’m going to have the most um the most investment and truth be told there’s not much in like in the 40s that I care for either it’s just a bunch of guys who I think the books you know like it’s always that Russell Henley SEI wo area I don’t know straight pass benan loved the guy but like I don’t know I I don’t trust them to find his shadow so that wouldn’t be a bet for me um I will say though Andy I have also bet uh I pulled a 60 this morning on it don’t mind the 50s either I bet will zalot Tores maybe there is there was a that is an incredible bet dude because I acted too late and they’re showing still a 50 on the odds Checker grid I checked right before the show to go to bed it’s down to 35 wow um there’s still some uh 40 40 45 maybe I think there’s a 45 on BET Rivers um but yeah actually I just had a buddy put in a 45 for me so I’m right there with you with out the other thing I would mention is I spoke to his caddy last week I I don’t actually think that he withdrew from the Byron Nelson because of an injury yeah he withdrew because he didn’t want to play six weeks in a row including two Signature Events and two majors so I wouldn’t be overly concerned about his health and I actually think you’re getting a bit of a price break based on speculation about about his health in my opinion yeah when honestly when that news broke last week I was like well I don’t know maybe he’s hurt but maybe this is the polite way of saying I’ve got elevated events and a major and a run of like really high-end tournaments coming up I’m just not doing this uh but yeah like you said maybe he is hurt and that’s a chance in like an outright Market I am willing to take if he was hurt I don’t know that he would be playing the week before a major um but yeah from the outright chance I thought this was just way too big of a number and honestly it wasn’t something I even did first thing in the morning kind of took me a little bit to warm up to but also the fact that I’ve you’ve probably seen through the course of our conversation there’s not a ton here that I just was dying to get on this morning and that was one thing that that seemed fresh enough for me to bring into to a day of content so willly Z and cam young uh are my bets maybe I’m a bit of a broken record but guys yeah I would I would like to do I would like to do a lot more well not a lot more but maybe I don’t know also at the same time don’t want to be Overexposed the week before a major I I don’t know how much lower you’ve gone on the board Andy I can say that I was real I like Stephen Jagger but at 66 to1 I just didn’t know if I want to be a part of that I just love the way he performs off the tea I love how great he is around the greens uh I do feel like lower scoring harder events might actually be his true Comfort Zone on the PGA tour but I don’t know it just seemed like a hard number to swallows was there any guys in this 50 to 100 who you want to talk talk us into briefly I haven’t made a move down here I’ll briefly mention a few guys um I think it’s a good low opportunity for Sam Burns anytime you get a guy who wins as much as Burns does on Bermuda um he is 55 to one in some spots like I think that’s start I think this is a good bounceback spot for burns the only concern that I have about him is believe the wife just had a baby um so that might be something you want to attempt to un quantifiably factor into your projections is um you know I think his baby was do a little bit before cheers I don’t have that confirmed but if he had the baby or not um and then I mean like do I think that these guys can win again this soon maybe not but damn it’s a really good golf course for oay and Stephan joerger um like you think about Tory Pines and Memorial Park and Valero Texas like these are all driver heavy longer iron some of them Bermuda um those guys send the ball off the tea and are great long iron players and that is the the name of the game at uh Quil Hollow as well so you know I see no reason to believe that joerger and oxe um can’t keep it going based on Cor fet yeah I really do love both of those guys this week but if I go make my move ahead of of the bets I already have it’s going to be higher and I don’t know if I want to just like pepper a middle Zone at an elevated event like that just seems like no offense but like the Dum move yeah yeah you know like I know our boy Kirk and and my buddies uh Kirk and mat gen and they they like to refer to it just as like the region of Despair uh which I laugh at because yeah the numbers are good enough we’re like we’re happy to bet them but I don’t know does this does this area come is going to come home for us in an elevated did last year wendam wendam won here like who’s who’s who’s the wend him of this year at like joerger maybe like joer has a similar skill set last year was such a a mind exploitive because yeah you could throw out everything I want to say and just say yeah last year because Kitty amaan whose Long irons might be a lovely play here at Bill elevated obviously you mentioned the Windam Clark and then we had that deep summer of Lucas Glover um so yeah we felt dumb last year thinking the winds would change on the elevated events they didn’t in this nons Scotty world of this year’s elevated events I still think they will stay with the top that’s not certainly a hot take either I just I’m not smart enough to guess which one of these guys 50 to 100 to one are going um to win if I had to play like super long shots I would Pro I don’t know maybe it would be the play of an ecro or the total around the green pting quality of Taylor Moore but these are this is an outright market like I’m not looking to play here at all yeah there’s other people on the internet who can give you 100 of ones this week it’s not me yeah I I’m in the same boat as you as well um I’ll probably finish things up in in the middle to lower tier um but that will do it from Jeff and I for another episode of the drive who you most likely to to add because you mentioned just before got your boys you got one guy we haven’t spoken about who I really love this golf course for is fenal he’s never played well here I probably bet him every year because but his form is good he had that second at Houston he had that nice showing at RBC Andy um I’m I’m always I’m not a big course history guy like I’ll keep maybe trying to find F now unlock fow here because yeah everything he did or does well like should play sense he never he’s had 10 career runs here he’s never done anything of of prominence like I’m not even talking about winning but he his course comps Riviera and Mex like the courses people would would say if you played well there you should play well here he’s won feel like all of not won but he’s played great at all of those so I’m with you too I could swim around F now um I think his struggles have been overblown and he’s starting to get it back um I’ve bet here forever should I stop probably will I I’m not sure yeah we’ll see uh I think he has the perfect skill set for this golf course which makes it even more confounding and perplexing why he hasn’t been able to put it together here all just yet um but we will be back next week Jeff for the second major of the year uh PGA Championship week is next week we’re going down to valal I I mean I’m personally not the the players are I’m actually could not be more excited to have a major experience at home um and not be on the grounds for this one because
