**NO LIVESTREAM THIS WEEK FOR THE NRL. Was unable to get that Australian NRL streaming service working and the games my TV provider is broadcasting are on at a time that doesn’t work for me. We’ll be back for Round 7 hopefully!
Lots of you guys mentioned Cameron Smith in the comments so we’re checking him out. Weren’t a ton of highlights to look at but the achievements speak for himself. Seems he was just a dominant player for 20 years basically and led the Storm and Maroons to numerous titles. Is there anyone presently playing that reminds you of Smith?

hey guys Aon here back with another League video we’re going to be checking out Cameron Smith today uh yeah he was been mentioned a bunch by you guys in like as like one of the greatest ever yeah I think I think it was on the Nathan Clary video I did that a lot of you guys were mentioning him and yeah he was mentioned by backy cones and stth and I’m sure there’s other people as well but yeah those are the two I saw um yeah let’s just hop into this I guess um for those of you that are new here I usually go on Wikipedia first and let read about him before we into his highlights if you don’t care about like watching that you can skip ahead to the actual highlight reaction I got it in the time codes for you yeah and yeah if you’ve been enjoyed my videos make sure to drop a sub drop a like comment uh stuff as you check out or what you thought of the video um yeah just just let me know what you think all right so let’s hop into his Wikipedia Wikipedia looks pretty long so that’s that’s good that’s always good um Cameron Wayne Smith am he’s got he’s got one of these things yeah order of Australia okay yeah I’ve noticed a lot a lot of this like the all-time greats in rugby and League have this have like yeah with these little things at the end of their names for like awards for their service to their country I guess so that’s cool uh former rugby league player who played as a hooker okay let me what is a hooker again number nine one of the teams for drink scrums the hooker plays the front row comes from hooking or raking the ball back with the foot okay yeah yeah referred to in Australia as the rake the usually play the role of acting halfback or dummy half picking up the ball from the play the ball that follows a tackle hog is therefore have much responsibility on the decid to do with the ball together with the two halves and fullback Hook is one of the four key positions to make up what is sometimes called the team’s spine okay okay in in the Super League the players can wear whatever number they want is what I’m seeing from this I think all right yeah 20 2013 season the top six players with most tacket were all hookers okay notable hookers New Zealand’s jock Butterfield Australia’s Ken Kierney Sandy Pierce Cameron Smith and nol Kelly most capped British International hooker was Wales Tommy Harris okay all right um let me look at his he’s 40 so yeah he must have retired semi recently yeah uh 6’1 92 kg I believe that’s like 600 lb 92 kg I’m pretty sure um he spent his entire career with the Melbourne storm okay also been an assisant coach for the Queensland rugby league team under former Melbourne teammate Billy Slater oh the Maroons okay I was like what what what do they mean okay no so he’s he’s he coaches on The Maroons interesting yeah Australian International que State represent smithard is one of the greatest players of all time J his 19-year career Smith won the diam medal as the anals Player of the Year in 2006 and 2017 oh he won one in 2017 so that he was I mean well 2017 it seems like it’s so recent but that was like what is that four seven years ago so he was like 33 uh he won the Golden Boot award in 2007 and 2017 as well and the nrl’s DI M hooker of the year on nine occasions wow captain of the storm for 15 years during which they won the 2012 2017 and 2020 NRL premierships and also Australian Queensland from 2012 until until his retirement from representative matches in 2018 he’s considered a future Immortal yeah the The Immortal yeah that’s we need to do a video on this but I know what an immortal is uh currently n’s game record holder with 43 matches played only player to played over for matches highest alltime point scorer Sur passing azm L mazri why is this name familiar to me for some reason I feel like I’ve heard this name like a lot be using some highlight re if to watch I don’t know I’m not sure holds Rock for most goals kicked most tackles made most grand final points scored and most wins almost 177,000 tackles made that’s crazy I guess there’s probably a ton of tackles every game but yeah still that that’s seems crazy yeah he’s appointed a member of the order of Australia he retired in 2021 okay so he was like 37 so he had yeah he had a really long career okay he’s born in Logan Queensland Australia um yeah I’m gonna just kind of skip through the storm stuff but yeah they did say he won he won three titles right and then he also won like before that when they had the title stripped so he kind of won like five five times I guess yeah I don’t really need to look at his yeah going season by season’s kind of that’ take forever so we’re just going to skip through that so two delm hooker the year nine times this is insane most points in the season yeah uh state of origin is this the winning for wins the state of origin yeah I assume that’s State four state of origin wins so he wasn’t on the team all the time through that 8year run that we did but he was there a lot uh a Golden Boot award yeah Melbourne storm Player of the Year Captain Queensland Captain yeah three time Grand finals winner and then two more that got removed and he got he he lost in the finals three times as well okay four minor Premiere ships 11 state of origin winners jeez okay no he was on the team then when they so they won one two three four five six seven eight and they lost twice or once and then they won three more jeez that’s crazy who was I looking at here the is this like the MVP this must be MVP of the of the origin game yeah 27 to9 when they had those titles stripped it’s wild he won that many times that’s crazy all right yeah so that’s enough info I guess yeah he seems like he’s extremely well accomplished like he’s won everything it seems um and he played his whole career with one team that’s I feel like that’s kind of that’s probably pretty rare right yeah always cool for that to have the Legacy of being on one team right let’s hop into this yeah he’s done a great job so far debuting um he looks very composed he’s not being fled by the opposition certainly a fire of the future they G from dumm player in the future Cameron Smith will score and it’s another try for Mel for camon Smith I can’t tell you how much uh you know it sort of gives you a lot of confidence first year and everything it’s just about that was his first year he looks like he’s 30 what player I’ve ever SE awesome they got the goggles on oh awesome that was a really good video yeah awesome player it is kind of hard to find like pure highlight reels for NRL guys um yeah there’s not too many like just like pure like 10 minutes of just like gameplay I guess that’s probably because of the copyright from the NRL the NRL needs to like yeah usually if if it’s it’s a video it’ll be like on their Channel um yeah no cool video super like yeah he has all the achievements that you could ask for so that’s uh definitely put them up there all time um yeah let me know is he is he the best all time like I know you guys have said like it’s kind of hard to pick someone like especially when they play different positions it’s hard to like choose someone but yeah I guess when you’re Smith not really a highlight type of player. Best highlights ≠ best player. His game management is why he was the goat. Great video!
I'm a Storm fan obviously so I'm biased but yeah a good few people consider him the greatest player ever. He could control the game like practically no one else. He doesn't quite have a Benji Marshall-esque highlight reel but he's the reason his team mates do. Brady-esque longevity and influence.
He is the GOAT. He doesn't have a big highlights reel because he's not in the try-scoring type role. The hooker is the first person to touch the ball, the person who touches the ball the most and the person who decides what and where the ball is going. The role is all about strategy and opportunity and works in conjunction with the halves and the full back i.e. the other spine members. Cameron Smith is widely acknowledged for his ability to control the speed of a game and his kicking game. He was able to with great ease control the game, the speed of play and the speed of the game. He was a puppet master, a magician. Melbourne Storm Captain, QLD Captain and Captain of Australia. He has won every team award and individual award that you can win in the game multiple times over. Most matches ever played, most points ever scored. While a lot of people who supported other teams hated him, they loved him when he was playing for QLD and Australia. They basically disliked him because he was so good and wasn't playing for them. That being said, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone even those who dislike him who would tell that he wasn't an f'ing amazing player. He was also part of the Big 3 – Cameron Smith (hooker), Billy Slater (full back) and Cooper Cronk (half back). They were the 3 Melbourne Storm Players who dominated at club, state (QLD) and country level – never has their been 3 players like that at one club or state which led to their absolute dominance throughout their careers. All 3 of them will be immortals. You should check out Billy Slater, the Greatest Fullback of All Time – his highlight reels are out of this world!
You will not see a better game manager than Cam Smith #facts Logan known for geniuses
I’d compare him to Tim Duncan. Stayed with one club, not that flashy of a player but had high iq of the game.
The goat of ref manipulation and captaining a team of disgraced salary cap cheaters
Hooker is the guy that passes the ball to the havles after every tackle/play the ball.
Slater Smith and Cronk devastated the NRL never missing the finals winning premierships , the most remembered games would be the few upsets against them , truely someone special #goat9
As a Manly and NSW Fan I did not enjoy when he was playing against ny team cos he was truly a remarkable Player! Huge respect and was always good to see him play for Australia haha
A Hooker/#9 is the constant dummy half player. The dummy half is the player that passes the ball from the play the ball/ruck.The name hooker comes from their position in the scrum.Back when scrums where contested the hooker would hook onto/inbetween the two prop forwards with one on either arm,get down as low as possible & try'n hook the ball back through the scrum with their feet.(Unfortunately as a result of many bad neck & back injuries the rugby league scrum is no longer contested with it's only purpose now being allowing a single play that separates the foward pack from the back line.)For this reason & having to be the team's dummy half is why the position requires a strong built but shorter height body type.A hooker is 1 of the 3 front row forwards the other's being props #8 & #10.All of the entire forward pack name's derive from their position in a scrum. Props, hooker, second rowers(#11 & #12) & lock(#13).

10:11 "Sit back & enjoy watching this champion. He's the best player I've ever seen."
That was Andrew Johns saying that.
Decision making and leadership were second to none, truly a once in a generation player
he controlled the game in both offense and defence like noone else ever has before, the most unseen (to the average eye) impact any player has had on the game. Will always be the GOAT, but will always be in the shadows of the more 'spectacular' players in the eyes of a casual fan
Matee come on.. when is the Andrew Johns (the immortal) video dropping? You keep doing Queenslanders
Billy Slator has the better highlights reel…….maybe the best rugby league highlights reel of all time.
Cameron Smith was an all time champion but his position in the team does not make visual highlights……he is more a general or field marshal……the coaches brain on the field and in play.
Cam Smith has the physic of some dude at the pub but he would play 80mins and make 50 tackles. His passing and kicking and situational awareness was unparalleled.
He made everyone else he played with better. He creates opportunities and space for others to exploit.
He rarely got injured. Played a huge number of games.
And he could mind control referees into doing what he wanted
Plus he was an excellent goal kicker.
One of the most valuable team players of all time.
