Bob for you what do you think McKenzie Hughes takes away from his performance at the RBC Canadian open you know I think he’s he’s got to understand that he’s playing some good golf it’s hard to win any time on the PGA tour it’s especially hard to win one particular tournament that you’ve singled out and and with a crowd uh like this and the week that these guys have you know to be in contention is a huge achievement for McKenzie Hughes but he wanted this and he was gutted afterwards I saw him before we did that interview he walked by us on the way to scoring his head was down and he was shaking it and I you know you couldn’t really see it but I’m pretty sure he was sort of on the verge of tears and this was something that he really wanted and maybe he wanted it just a little bit too much Mark how about Corey Connor significantly better putting at the RBC Canadian open he was seventh in the field in Strokes gain putting how would you summarize his week at Hamilton I think it’s a positive week because hey we’ve got our first top 10 to your point Adam this season I mean I find that so hard to believe cuz he’s been you know a cut making machine and is positioned in that second spot to go to Paris with Nick Taylor with only a few weeks to go so these are Big finishes uh you know Adam Mack even Taylor now are right on his heels and considering we’re gonna have seven Canadians at the US Open in a couple of weeks I mean Cory Connors could sure use some breathing room if he wants to be that second man alongside Nick Taylor uh in Paris for Team Canada at the Olympics so I think it was a b big week for Corey to get that top 10 and I think when we get to Pinehurst he’ll be one of two types of players that can win there for me guys when we get the Pinehurst where’re I’m going for guys that can either really kind of get up and down from anywhere or a Cory coners type player hit it with your irons whole high all day at Piner those green complexes are tiny targets they look big but the effective area is small with the Donald Ross Turtle B so I think Cory Conor is maybe just starting to come into form at the right time here Adam and it’s kind of like the Scotty sheffler conversation guys just putt decent just be better than average you don’t have to be number one when the putter cooperates he can win and heading into last week Cory Connor was second on the PGA tour in Strokes gain approach 161 in Strokes gain putting so significantly better Mark I’m so glad you mentioned the Olympics Bob for you Nick Taylor seems to be a shoe in for at least one spot on Team Canada on the men’s side is it Cory Conor’s spot to lose for spot number two well they’ve got two weeks to to settle at the memorial and the US Open and those are big events and they can carry a lot of weight so unless one of the other players like an Adam Haven like a Taylor pendrith as Mark was mentioning can have a huge week and you would probably need a top five maybe a top three finish to really Jump Ahead then I think it’s going to be Cory Connor and Nick Taylor in Paris we’ll see it’s uh stranger things have happened out there I tell you all these guys want it so they’re going to be digging for it and they’re going to try and secure that second spot but right now it sure looks like Cory’s well just a couple of weeks left until the Canadian Olympic team is named
