We’re at the urban event in Manizales, and we’re going to show you what this event is like. Pay attention! The 15th edition of the Manizales Urban event starts. With much honor and pride, out of the 15 editions, I’ve won 9, and today, I’m here with none other than my brother Rafael Gutiérrez, who hasn’t won any because Marcelo hasn’t allowed it, but well, here’s his first time off the track. This event is enjoyed a lot from the inside, but from the outside, it seems crazy, so join us as we show you the urban event from the inside. Look at this, this isn’t just about keeping the tire, that’s a big deal, because the jump comes from there to here, I think, and luckily he didn’t fall headfirst. Well, the scares start right from the beginning here, this section of stairs, legendary, what’s the deal? There are two possible jumps, an easy one and a difficult one. Here, where we see Slavik stopped, is the most technical, steepest complex, but well, it seems they’re going for it all because all the pros managed to do it on the first try. He ties it, here there are holes, that’s the tough part of this flight. This one, very similar to the one in Guanajuato where the exit is like a turn, close to the wall, it’s a technical move, truth be told, few have done it well. And on top of it all, there’s a rule: you have to touch the wall, if you don’t touch it, it doesn’t count, disqualified, but with the gap jump, up to the wall, that makes it even more complicated and more technical. That’s it, perfect! That’s what you have to do, if you noticed, he jumps, touches the wall while leaning and then falls again, the fatal mistake is when they jump and stay vertical, going downwards. Ouch! well, there are ways to pass the wallride, this is one of the most fearful, it’s to jump and stick a bit shyly, he only touched with the rear tire, everything else went well thankfully. Let’s go Mini, let’s go Juanfer! and that’s how you do it, plenty of talent, plenty of style, they look like favorites. The way to experience an event like this, every time they ask me: "Marcelo, where should I stand to watch the event, what should I do?" arrive early, take the walk from top to bottom carefully, watch the practices and then the qualifying and the final. You can go back up and down again to watch the final from below. We’re at the fourth curve of the track, and here is where patience is key because people get here in a hurry to the apex and can’t make the curve, they have to get here with patience, open up a lot because you have to enter bunny hopping to some stairs in a mega curve, that’s tough, it’s very technical. Let’s go Steven! There’s the perfect example, the more pro the rider, the more they can risk taking the highest part of this step. Here people, when they watched the videos, when we were racing, they were impressed because one goes from the curve to pedaling. What happens? the urban track is so short that wherever you can pedal, you have to pedal, and these stairs could be steeper so you have to gain momentum with some pedaling. For this section, the secret is to open up a lot when getting off the stairs and to look for the best angle here, as close as possible. It used to be by the slab, but they put up that mesh, so now it’s more dangerous because it’s longer. Let’s see how they enter here, how the next one enters. Look closely at what this guy does, he goes inside the post, but there are many people who I don’t know why, they come all the way here, that’s wasting time, extra meters, you always have to look for the straightest line, less time. Until they finally improved on the jump, this is a banked turn that costs a lot because you come out flying with a reception, it’s complicated but this year it turned out spectacular, with very good grip and a very decent landing. Well, this jump is definitely worth taking this time, finally full grip, it won’t slide, full safety, and take all the speed possible for what’s next. We’re here at the urban downhill with Rafael Gutiérrez, you know, if you stay until the end, there are comments about Juanfer’s fall, which was tough, and I also invite you, please subscribe, hit the bell, and be part of this community. It’s fuller than many times, there’s a lot of audience. Well, I don’t know if when you’re racing you don’t see as much, you’re alone here risking your life, just faces yelling at you. New obstacle, the mesh wallride, interesting, well as you know, all the pro riders have to touch the obstacles with both wheels, the jump is great and it also combines with the natural slope of the street, so it’s really fun, I haven’t done it, I would like to, honestly, I’m jealous of not racing this time. He says he’s jealous haha, he’s happy where he is. Here I was already seeing black but pedaling as hard as I could, sometimes sitting, sometimes standing, the hardest pedal strokes I could give. Here people are excited, really bringing this sport here to the city streets feels good, it feels good from inside and outside the track. Things like this demand physical preparation, training, people say: "Downhill? it’s just downhill, gravity." This is where races are won or lost, and as Rafael said, and the track is a minute and a half, exactly, a minute and a half, there’s no room for mistakes, one pedal stroke makes the difference. Everything has happened here, jumps, the Step Up Step Down, a small jump. Oh well, those I can pass on, I don’t know if my highlight with the urban is a very ugly fall I had, I fractured two vertebrae, I broke three, the ugliest fall of my life was here, in this urban event in 2011. So I do have respect for the urban event, the jump was the biggest there’s been, and I got mad, everything went very wrong, but well, from the outside it feels good now. Damn, Juanfer took a hard hit. What happened there? Well, yeah, we were expecting, obviously he went full throttle, trusted a bit too much, he skidded, you can see it in the video, fortunately he’s fine, we don’t know if he’s up for a decent race, but fortunately nothing major happened, he fell hard, such a brutal blow, these things happen, risks you have to take, this guy plays his cards a lot, there he lost his card. What happened? I was having a good race, but until the end, Uh, When There is this pedaling long section I was shifting down for lighter Gears for the chicane And I shifted it up like three Gears And I did a strong pedal stroke And I Smash the Chain. Last turn I was like no pedaling, no pedaling, and Last jump no pedaling. I know what was your problem man, too much power here, so settle down for finals and It’s gonna be ok. Save the old school guys I will Fight For Us. Now that I’m part of it. What happened? No, I don’t know, man. No, I do know, he went all out. Well no, I was feeling really good, I was having a lot of fun, the training sessions were great, but I don’t know what happened, it was from one moment to another. Oh! No, I’m fine. I said: "this guy messed himself up". There are much more important things coming up than this. Congratulations, and tell us about your experience in an urban, a woman in urban, well, thank you very much. Yes, honestly excited to do things this year, I think it’s what I wanted to do and every time I’ve prepared as if it were the World Cup, I feel like this confidence gives a lot more. And a person like you with the experience you have, do you do anything different to your bike for this? Yes, we make the suspensions a bit stiffer and the wheels so it doesn’t feel so soft. And thinking about an enduro bike? I don’t like it as much because I feel like it doesn’t hold up as well as the downhill bike for doing the things I want to do, because they’re new things, so I enjoy it much more than anything in this race. Good point, well I appreciate it and thank you very much, congratulations. I do want to ask you, you woke up today and what were you expecting? Well, after coming from last year with a couple of mental problems, concentration problems and everything, the truth is that for this race I came very focused and eager to win, concentration and all, I was really coming very focused and eager to win this race, so I think everything fell into place. Yeah, for sure, it really helps me a lot to win this race and especially with Slavik, it was so tight all the way, it was very interesting right up to the end. Tremendous, how good it was to catch the winner of this race, the 15th edition’s Mini Warrior, Sebastián Holguín. Mini, thank you, thank you very much, thank you very much. A different event, a different video with Rafael Gutiérrez my brother, I want to thank him for the company and thank Chigüiro and the great event that’s put on, the party in Manizales, which makes Slavik behind you dance, keep dancing Slavik. These things happen here, having these biking brothers, in the world, also enjoy this event, come more to the fair in Manizales, to this sports event that is one of the most viewed in the country without a doubt. Until next time, you know, subscribe, hit the bell, enjoy these events, those videos are for you. So thank you guys.
