brilliant stuff thank you Kev that must be our um first review from Thailand Steve I can’t remember one as far flung as that in the past no we had AUST Australia haven’t we I believe may have had in New Zealand making me feel very very generous generous jealous um out there on the beach yeah I think Kevin’s on his travels clearly we’re not to the grindstone we are in the UK shes outside of London shooting the breeze pool um I’m not sure it’s going to be a painful it’s going to be a painful shoot in the breeze rather than an upbeat shoot the breeze after last week where across both your event the European open I mean that was even clearer than mine I mean you literally had the uh the leader after three or four holes on Sunday I was on board as well um we also had maoy in the mix you had Tom Kim I had Maverick mcely steaming up the leaderboard after shooting three over on Thursday um it could have all been a lot better but it kind of into very little in the end uh let I’ll let you let the listeners know your thoughts on Guido migotti after Sunday’s performance you you really want me to bring the bring the tone bring the tone podcast down yeah I we know what happens on a Sunday and we know what happens on a Sunday on the DP World Tour in particular it’s um it’s often a bum fight it’s often a you know who’s holding the Hot Potato at the end of the uh end of the round but but you know I I was really um excited about gido’s chances going into Sunday because he’d been playing some cracking stuff he was really really good on the Saturday um and you know some of his ball strike and some of his approach play was outstanding Co leer going into the final 18 holes um and up against lorri caner who’s wobble of Fair bit hasn’t he on Sundays in the past and know I’ve been on him and various other punters have been on him um over the years so I’m looking at that leader ball and thinking well gido’s just got to play reasonably well reasonably good golf here and he’s he should have the title as you say he birded the fourth didn’t he the par five and then it just all went horribly wrong from there shot six 78 in the end yeah and just to rub it in had a four-footer at the end on the final hole that would have got me salvaged a full Place yeah a full each way place and of course misses it that those are the worst of the lot I mean to have the to have the leader and not hit the eway places is unbelievable when it happen I got a Slither of the top eight but it should have been a f leway place um it could easily have been a win M Jordan had backed as well um he kind of snuck up and got himself in a position where he could um get himself into a place as well and then doubled the 17th um and missed out by by a shot as well in terms of the the chopped places and two shots in terms of the full place so it’s just just a little frustrating what can you say Steve you know you can you can take a horse to water can’t you and oh mate well they they should call that this podcast we we should rename this podcast you can lead a horse to water what can you do unbelievable but yeah you know it’s unbelievable stuff sometimes it’s um yeah you move on and um you know hopefully this week is a better Sunday should we find ourselves in the mix but yeah as you say slightly better over in Canada um well done on mcney managed to get best part of a full place on mcne well you say that he he what I didn’t even I didn’t even have the audacity to look what holy bed on the way in cuz cuz it’s pointless it just depresses you even more yeah but I know he was at 11 and then ended up on 10 um but yes to be fair from three over on Thursday he’s a weird weird character Maverick M whenever you back him weird weird character mate what he choose 7 74 on Thursday I think didn’t he so um yeah it was he four over I thought it was three but 7274 it was um yeah crazy staring at a miscut at that point so for him to get into some kind of paying position was unbelievable was pretty good but um when you look at the numbers he across the final four rounds Ben Griffin 195 shots Victor Perez and Maverick McNeely 196 Tom Kim 197 excuse my I will excuse my voice and my coughing um I’ve finally been plunged into some kind of cold or who knows what it is it’s come down the tree from my wife and my um my son so I finally got hit with it over the weekend bit of a CR yeah he played well M KN yeah he did yeah no but he’s a strange player Paul there’s always a bad round in him if he can cut that out I think on on these short golf courses like we saw in Hamilton he he’s got wins in him Ben Griffin really impressed me yep I Victor perz the first time we’ve seen Ben do anything outside of his native southeastern United States location because it’s all Bermuda up until now and all a sudden bit of bent po those greens were bent po by the way they weren’t bent as we would professing at the on the podcast last week there was power within them um as you said to me yesterday A lot of these green Keepers don’t like to mention po they think it’s a weed so they they kind of falsify their documents that they put in but yeah you could see the POA in those greens and CBS said at the start of their Sunday coverage that the greens were B po y y but um yeah that’s first time I’ve seen Griffin produce anything outside of like the Carolinas or Tennessee you know these kind of States floridas yeah no it’s good yeah I say Victor Perez was good what about Bob though McIntyre what a story that was that was um you know heartwarming to see the uh the reaction at the end um with his dad and uh you know the outpouring of emotion um quite rightly too you know he’s he’s been quite vocal about his uh the struggle that he been in terms of um you know loneliness effectively coming over to the PGA Tour having graduated from the DP World Tour last year and uh for him to uh to get his head around that to to play the master stroke of getting his dad on the bag for a for a week and to to win with his uh win with his old boy there was uh was just great to see you know I think the golfing World particularly this side of the Atlantic were were undoubtedly pulling for him once uh once he got himself into position there is a video on YouTube that I watched at the start of this year that basically shows you why Robert McIntyre has struggled so much in the United States it takes you through his his background in open M bear in mind he grew up on a in a house that was on the golf course he used to literally walk out of his back gate onto like the third hole yep third T his dad clearly was the Greenkeeper and that Golf Course when you look at it I think it I mean I might be misquoting but I think it’s something like 6,600 yards it’s got tiny tiny greens and it is up and down on every single hole his home course in Oben and then you looked at Hamilton and you saw there was a lot of undulations on that of course tree lined relatively short you think yeah I can see that this is working for him yep but it’s just his background there when he was on the DP World Tour I don’t know if it was last year or a couple of years ago he went through again the same homesickness thing and in the end he he gave up for a few weeks and just went home cuz he he just wants to play shinty and he wants to you know he’s just a home kind of guy and obin’s not exactly like a metropolis cut away on the west coast of the of Scotland so for him to bring his dad over and he had been showing some form hadn’t he he was was he 54 hole leader at Myrtle Beach he was right in the mix at the PGA finished in the top 10 it wasn’t as if this was a bolt from the blue and he was out there at 100 to one on Monday to win that tourament yeah yeah big price yeah he missed the C his previous start but um yeah having come straight off the back of it was eighth I think you said one that’s uh the PJ Championship so yeah there was you know there was enough underlying form there and the Stars aligned for him really massive massive career move for him it’s uh you set set him up for um well we’ll see where he goes from here but he’s got to give him a massive boost I think I think it’s also I think this whole move of so many more DP World Tour players on the PJ T I think has to give a boost to The rder Cup team moving forward cuz you’re going to get a lot of fresh blood McIntyre clearly played last year you’re going to get the likes of Thomas D’s done so well there’s a lot of European Talent that’s going to be replacing the older you know your Justin roses and those sorts moving forward yeah yeah you’ll have both Hoy guards in the uh in the teams to come in the future o he a bit better last week I noticed he actually made the cut Nikolai 35th in the end so he’s been playing some dog awful golf what did you make of Tommy on the first hole did you see Tommy’s first drive on uh on Sunday no no talk me for it he he hiked well he he basically blocked it right and then the first kind of coverage you see of Tommy is literally when I say under a tree it’s like um he’s literally having to lift the branches to be able to get under under the tree to then manag to kind of whack it out onto the well whack it towards the Fairway at the very least made double no idea that was that yeah strange character Tommy food when it comes to contending yeah yeah second second favorite wasn’t he for that event behind maon I think um you know a lot of his finishes a lot of his big finishes tend to be from really fast final rounds and you know backo um you know what looked like contending contending finishes but um yeah often aren’t even on the DP World Tour you know there were some courses where he was pretty strong but um you know not entirely prolific particularly when it came to Sundays but immensely capable so um you never quite know never quite know but yes I think all in all I enjoyed the Canadian open I think I think it’s um I think it’s a great part of the PJ tour and it’s one of those events that can be literally surrounded by majors and signature event level tournaments but still kind of hold its own because it’ll get a good enough field and just the fervor of the Canadian support and the fact that it’s a national open sees it through so yeah I I did enjoy the coverage um I did think it was uh whether you can take from it not sure because it’s a very atypical golf course on the PJ tour but I mean that’s good because you do actually get to see something a slightly different a far more European feel to it and you could just tell that from the leader ball couldn’t you Ryan Fox right up there winner at wouth last year Victor Perez finishing like a train lots and lots of European connections there Aaron R I I should mention Aaron Ry I suppose I know that Barry was spitting feathers as well on Sunday yep another one that went backwards for Barry on that on that particular occasion yeah yeah yeah I think he could have his own five minute segment in this Barry and and bring the uh bring the tone of the Pod down even further just I’m going to start doing this just as a as a kind of um a mention on the podcast just because I know it’s been asked of me over the last few weeks and months you know just some a Roundup of what happened from tea to Green last week and this is really going to whine Barry up Aaron W Aaron Ry was number one for T green yeah Tom Kim 2 Ben Griffin three David skins four Kevin U five Sam Stevens 6 you got Sam Burns next up Burns starting to show a bit form and you can see why because I think he’s currently 13th in the President’s Cup Standing so needs to start showing some form to get into Jim furi’s team that’s interesting if Burns is um playing well T Kim because we know what we can do on the putting surfaces yes I think he’s one to keep an eye on maybe this week because we move to Memorial um a cracking tournament it’s Jack’s Tournament of course Jack Nicholas I think this has got to be up there as the kind of tournament on the PGA tour that you know these Pro really one on their resume yeah I’ve heard Rory say in the past you know oh I can’t you know and before I retire I’d love to win Jack’s Memorial Tournament it’s one of those really it’s up there clearly with with tigers at the Genesis and Arie Palmer down in Bay Hill um they’re playing this at mirfield Village Golf Club as they usually do for some reason they’ve taken two yards off the scorecard this year it’s 7,000 569 yards it’s a par 72 your traditional four part fives uh 13 of the holes feature water in play there is over 80 uh 80 acres of rough he likes thick rough does Jack um yeah as a man that’s clearly won of the most majors in all time I think for him to host a birdie Fest where 35 under wins wouldn’t really sit right would it no no no it’s got got to have its own identity which it it undoubtedly has so it’s undoubtedly got its own identity and I think that identity got even stronger with the renovation that they put in a few weeks a few years ago where basically they put in more bunkering they put in more bunkering physically at the new modern-day Landing areas so they lengthen the course they added length on the te’s moving those back they also positioned far more bunkering at modernday Landing areas on the on the fairways and there are a lot of these holes that tempt you to cut corners on dog legs the danger with that is that if you you know when you’re hitting it 340 but you’re not hitting it straight you are in a whole world of hurt around this golf course if it goes wrong thick 4in Kentucky Bluegrass and Fescue rough deeper in places water in play on some of the some of the t- shots you’ve also got deep and meaningful Fairway bunkers that kind of half to 6 of a stroke penalty as soon as you’re in them y so it’s a great setup it’s it’s basically a major championship golf course it really is so um we should have a treat um from what I’m seeing in terms of the forecast and just um the setup it looks like it’s been relatively wet in the buildup saw saw rain uh end of last week over the weekend start of the week’s been uh Wednesday though looks like there could be some significant downpours in the afternoon into the evening so wouldn’t be surprised wouldn’t be surprised if we see a soft or sof dis golf course on Thursday so I think Thursday could be the day you get your scoring done um from that point on uh mirfield Village and Jack has ensured that this has got all of the modern day technology you would need so I’m sure that he’s probably a had the sub air on the greens already making sure they’re nice and firm because he knows that in the forecast there’s rain on Wednesday and he’ll definitely have it pumped on from flat out from Thursday onwards so expect releasing greens probably as early as Friday it’s definitely definitely in the on the weekend uh in terms of Aron me regulars will know love my Agronomy we are dealing with Bentgrass Fairways the rough I’ve already stated it’s Kentucky Blue Grass with Ry grass and Fescue it’s 4 in that is Lush as part of the makeover as well you made the green smaller 5,000 square ft so they’re basically the same size greens that we saw last week in Canada but the golf course is around about 500 yard long the greens are Ben grass Ben grass greens this week cracken field uh it is loaded uh Robert McIntyre withdrew uh yesterday so he won’t be making it I expect he still uh in a pub somewhere in Canada yeah he kind of hinted didn’t he after his um his his post win interview that he wasn’t going to play um matter you just landed your first PJ to a Titan a big scrag of dollars yeah just wanted to go home and celebrate fair play to uh go home and celebrate and then head back I expect for well I’m sure we’ll be playing the US Open down at pinhurst yeah oh by the way listeners US Open preview research preview will be out later this week we’re trying to work to get work it so that we can get Barry on that pod as well right I’m going to note Paul because I think it’s worthy of note for this for the memorial it’s a is it a 74 man field something like that uh I think it was 703 and then Bob’s um Bob’s pulled out hasn’t he so um they’ve replaced him with Davis Thompson they have yeah so yeah it’s a short field but I mean I’m seeing out there Patty power bet Fair Sportsbook Sky Bet William Hill they’re all going six places each way a 50 odds which I think is terrible value which pulls into the aaces of bet 365 they each way extra markets where you can effectively choose six places uh you can CH sorry choose eight 10 or even 12 places all out of 50 odds it’s interesting with each way extra and outp we were discussing this pre pod they actually shown now on the default table as well so you go to default Market five places a court the odds as bet 3651 to be and then you’ve got columns to the right where you can choose eight 10 or 12 places each way all at a 50 odds which makes it nice and easy to navigate to yep yeah right now as we record the Pod they’re offering eight places each way and extended Market best odds on players such as Victor holand is 16 to1 he’s 16 to1 with William Hill and Sky Bet all at six places each way but you can back him at eight places each way 16 to1 the same price with bet 365 I’ve picked out SE straco he’s 55 to1 will zat Torres is 55 to1 Billy Hall previous course win at 60 to one so there’s some cracking prices out there all eight places each we 50 odds if you’re 18 plus and do not have a bet 365 Sports account you can find details of their current bet10 get £30 in free bets new customer promotion a link through to that very often with teas and sees in this podcast description don’t forget to use the bonus code Paul what is it what’s the bonus code the bonus code is Sport 30 SP o r T3 when registering uh I managed to get quite a few of mine away on bet 365 yesterday when we pulled all the previews together right decent field cracking Golf Course uh seven under one last year prior to that on this configuration 13 under and 13 under quite a lot of win this week it looks like wind up to 20 mph across the full 72 holes which again I think is going to keep a lid yeah on scoring yep other thing I noticed the prices of winners here and we do live in this new world which continues week in week out Robert McIntyre as I said up to 100 to1 last week 20 to1 hland 60 to1 horsa 22 to1 Klay 22 to1 Ram 18 to1 Klay 50 to One D Shambo so even here over the past years we’ve had a world where 22 to1 to 18 to one have won four of the last six and then 50 and 60 have won the other two again this this 22 up to 50 to1 location on the betting boards in on the PJ T in 2024 has become defunct there hasn’t been a winner between 22 to1 and 50 to uh up to 50 to1 all year that’s crazy so your 33s your 25s your 41 chart chances just haven’t won we’ve also seen a scenario poll where the last four Signature Events have been won by the favorite even more crazy yeah it hasn’t been typical year is it it really hasn’t no it’s famal Feast isn’t it 13-2 11-2 and 9-2 favorite Scotty Sheffer and then last signature event we went to Quil Hollow lo and behold Scotty had the week off for the birth of his first child and the 7 to2 favorite wins there uh sorry the nine uh 17-2 favorite Rory maroy who came from behind to win second favorite who was also sub 10 to one Xander so the favorites have been running a mock here on these events prior to that 152 Chris K that seems a long time ago 70 to1 Matt Su and 80 uh 70 to1 Clark rather and 80 to1 Matt suyama it’s just it’s way out there is it I don’t know yeah some of these players as the season progresses and you get into that major mentality that major period of the season the better players start to get their act together in terms of the the state of their game so I think there may be some logic in there but yeah as you say it’s a very strong field full stop it’s you can make a case for a lot of players just outside those top players that’s that’s for sure we did see Hall win the other week at carral is at 20 to1 and I’ve I’ve labeled him as an 18 to1 winner of the PJ Championship that was with one firm which I believe was unibet um but actually he was more 14s and 16s when he won the PJ and I’m just going to Pepper that area this week I have no remorse about it I would love a winner anytime soon would be great I’ve literally backed Colin marara at 14 to one I’ve backed the defending Champion Victor hovland at 16 to1 and I’ve backed Justin Thomas at 22 to1 three points two points and two points each way we do have now a big three in the betting because Xander has joined Scotty and Rory at single digits at the top of the ban boards yeah so I’ve gone for the slice below Colin morawa for me is close if not back to his best overlength on his driving but not super long iron straight with his driving the approach play is back and he’s around the green game recently has been very very strong I think he was in the top three for a round the green over the last eight weeks across my trackers sorry he was top five Thomas W Henley 2 Hideki 3 Klay 4 by the way Thomas has lost a playoff here Hideki has won here Patrick Klay has won here twice and Colin has won here twice I think Strokes gained around the green is a factor this week because when you’re coming in from over 150 yards on a lot of these holes to 5,000 square ft greens that are going to be releasing from Friday onwards and are surrounded with trouble in terms of water and deep bunkering and plenty of runoff areas now as well you’re going to need some kind of short game morara top five over the last eight weeks just to expand that Baden hoot 6 homus 7 Fleetwood 8 Scotty nine there’s a surprise 10 friend of the podcast Patrick Rogers posted note of Doom member for me um so yes Mori car I just think he’s a winner here he won the workday charity open now I also believe you might be able to throw some light on this but my memory serves right he was to shot off the lead here last year and had a back spasm problem yeah yeah yeah rings a bell now a lot of statistics on modeling probably won’t show that WD from this from what I saw of The Strokes gained rankings that you’ve pulled together they were so strong it would suggest it did include that WD the three rounds that he played as well yeah yeah yeah y Yeah well yeah but he’s all over The Strokes game ranking absolutely all over them I know it’s you know it’s not exactly um out there in terms of tips but I’m beyond caring to be honest but I just genuinely think that one of these kind of subset guys with potentially Scotty who knows you know this is the point Xander coming off his first major win Scotty coming off the relief of realizing that he’s not going to end up in a ky in jail birth of a child I can’t read Scotty I mean he did that amazing thing at the RBC where no one had done it since burnard Langer then he just comes out and wipes the floor with the RBC putting my selections all in the second place he does very atypical things but or not you know things that go against Trends all I know is I’m just looking at your Strokes game rankings Strokes game ball striking here over 17 rounds Colin morawa number one scoty Sheffer number two Patrick kley number three so morara makes a lot of sense to me hasn’t won since Japan last year next up for me Victor hin now Victor Paul he has defended four times as a professional yep his record reads 1 10 1 10 next one in that sequence sounds like a one to me steeve this hope so release the facts that he’d started I don’t know why he ever split up with Joe but he split up with Joe just as he reached the peak last year of contending in Majors winning the BMW Championship then winning the toura championship then oh I’ve uh got rid of my short game coach and swing coach who’s really kind of built me into an all round player it all went South from that point but fair play to Victor he’s like Nigel farage in this year’s election he’s changed his mind he’s gone back to Joe and all of a sudden and it came very quickly I think he mentioned that he’d still like the driving just to be a little bit straighter but it wasn’t bad by any means but we know with Victor again a proper total driver of the golf ball long straight hit the short grass and then let your amazing approach play take over from that point and if he’s at the Point like he was last time out the PJ where he’s still gaining three. 3.4 around the greens and not hemorrhaging fives and sevens I think hovland’s going to take a lot of beating this week and we have clearly seen that he does put a lot of emphasis on defending titles 110 110 so yeah I took holand at 16s and if there is someone that takes the Billy horshaw stroke John Ram paath from 2020 of a player that hadn’t won on the PJ tour for a long time when you look at Billy hoe I know he’d won the match play I know he’d won a team event in Duck but he hadn’t won a playing as himself in a stroke play event for five years on the PJ tour before he won this in 2022 John Ram hadn’t won on the PJ tour in a singles event non team he’d won on the DP World Tour granted he had won on the PJ tour coming on for 18 months when he took out the 2020 Memorial there’s one player in this field that is showing form and you just hope can find something with the putter it’s JT he was first for strokes g t to Green at the PJ Championship bear in mind they played it on his home cour in his home city of Louisville lot of pressure on him first for Tia green fifth for around the green third for greens and RG love that number Prime JT used to win coming off a high Greens in regulation number the outing before he was also and this for me has always been his Nemesis but it seems to be something he’s been working really well on Seventh for strokes gained off the te at the PJ Championship yeah yeah there’s some improvement there isn’t there it’s it’s just the putter pool that’s holding him back the putting’s abysmal but you know as we’ve seen time and Memorial when players get confidence with the driving with the approach and everything else lo and behold they start making some parts yeah and this isn’t a birdie Fest putting contest so I I can see see some logic in that I think well I’m almost out of tea I’m almost out of breath I’m about to cough where where have you where where’s your first bet at the memorial this week pul um I’ve got two and they they kind of align with your assertion about pricing I guess um because I got one from the top and then one from uh way down deeper in the market can I guess yeah go on well I think your top bet is Ry maon yeah I’m not sure you get the second one I’m not sure get the second cuz there’s a lot there’s a lot of people down there lot of players in the three figure I just knew you’d go for Rory this week because he’s playing bloody good golf and we we said at the top of the show he’s fan he wants to win the memorial and they’ve moved it to a week before a major yeah I he was 12 well he’s still 12 on the exchange um right now and for me does he deserve to be the third of the three favorites at the top there yeah Scotty um undoubtedly should be the favorite but should Rory be behind Xander I not convinced really no not I um stat you mentioned after he won at qu Hollow and um I think you picked it up from I think it was Brian kersner on on Twitter on on X um who came out with this stat which I thought was interesting um which was seven times since 2018 uh that RoR won his last stroke play event before a major championship yeah so he does it with regularity Scottish open last year and the Wells Fargo this year as we know um I was on him that that week and you know whether it’s a deliberate part of his preparation his game plan for majes and to to kind of be fully attuned the week before or the stroke play event before or whether it’s just that that’s the way it’s Fallen um you know i’ guess you need to try and dig in into it with him himself to understand why but it’s undoubted uh that he can and does raise his game before a major championship um it’s as simple as that he closed with a 6564 last week and I know you were on him and he left himself too much to do effectively but that performance over the final 36 holes was right I think it was only Victor Perez who was uh shot lower in the final final 36 and so showed some really nice stuff and uh as you said he’s this is one of the ones he wants to win he’s got four top 10 here seventh last year he led into Sunday last year I think he shot 75 or something around that Mark last last year to take himself out of uh out of the equation but you know this time round um and playing some as you said some really good golf so yeah again this it’s the same the same quote the same equation for me you know 12 in the exchange 11 to1 or 10 and a half once you’ve taken your your medicine that kind of number does he does he win it enough times from his current form um to to justify a bet at that level and I think um I think he does so quite happy to give him a chance I think this week bit rain yeah I couldn’t F him from last week no there was a rumor on Twitter that his Caddy’s birthday was Wednesday night okay cuz I did read something one of these trackers saying it wasn’t it amazing that Rory shot four under with a hangover went out for a couple of jars so whether whether the real hangover came in on the Friday when he shot three over that’s what clearly took him out the toour was Friday yeah everyone’s shooting lower totals and he shoots over par from that point on you you can’t F him I mean was it 6565 match tom4 yeah yeah it was really good Tom Kim on short golf courses now you know I did look at him for this week but I just think it’s a tad too long yeah I same as that Steve you know I was on him last week and 55 to one out there tempting isn’t it his results are very skewed to sort of 71 7,000 72 p70s I know it’s early in his development I know he’s bulking up but uh yeah you’re right about maoy shot three over La here in round four last year to Fall From First to seventh yeah yeah he’s getting closer and yeah you know does that change this time around quite quite possibly we’ll see but yeah Tom Kim I I the the one bit of your preview that kind of got me thinking with Kim was the the way that the course sets up and you know around that 300 310 Mark a lot of the players are having to kind of aim for those locations because it gets so tight it’s inevitable you can’t miss it so does does that bring does that equalize the field a little bit and does that bring a Tom Kim into it in that respect because you know Tom’s putting out there 300 dead or thereabouts and you know he’s now playing similar shots to everyone else for the second shot and in it’s well potentially I mean when you listen to this leaderboard hovland mcarthy not long sewu Kim not long Andrew putam was fifth last year not long I think it and Rory did a test to it once they did the uh I hate using the word renovation once they kind of modernized it to to Jack’s latest requirements he didn’t say that this used to be a bombers course that was all about length and going for the green it isn’t anymore because they’ve they’ve so well guarded against bombers cutting Corners yeah they’ve modernized it so that they they put the defense in perfect places on the inside and outside of dog legs blah blah blah he said it’s literally now become a positional golf course off the tea he’s taken away my main asset so yeah but that doesn’t mean he can’t play it cuz clearly he was leading here after 54 holes 12 months ago so I mean he can play anywhere so I can see your logic now did you say 100 to one for your last one yeah 110 is oh really I think I know that one as well I reckon that’s Justin Rose it is Justin Rose um I remember listeners will say that you and I were talking about this last night and we were met we weren’t we never tell each other who we’re backing no no leave it as a big reveal on a Tuesday morning I can see why cuz his last set of numbers were amazing at the colonial for ball striking they were and he played really well at um the PJ Championship as well yeah absolutely I remember back Steve back when we pretty much first started back in 2010 when you tipped Justin Rose at 80 to one I think it was to win this to win this yeah way back in the day that we hadn’t been doing this long and that may have been your first win or first substantial win anyway um and picking up Justin Rose back in the day at that price was really good um and yeah what 15 years 14 years on from there I think Rose could do it again he’s got a great record here isn’t he he won there couple of runnerup finishes four further top eight finishes and as you say played well at Colonial 32 overall but some some good numbers out of that 66 in round three as well and um yeah really caught the eye at the PJ Championship as well third round 64 which put him into a really good spot into the into the final round 69 in the in the final round for sixth place finish but um decent nonetheless for Justin Rose and 110 to one in a limited field yes I’ve had to take the six places um to get that price but so be it I think there’s far worse three figure punts out there this week than than Rosie we’ll see you I guarantee he finishes t7 oh yeah yeah it’s coming you know how this game works to I think everyone knows the listeners certainly know they listen to this every week Justin Rose The other thing that’s that spared my imag he was one that came very close I tell you else came close Ricky Fowler had a fantastic uh he had a fantastic teer green game at Colonial as well yep these these major championship contenders rder cuppers that have had their problems over the years this is the kind of tournament where it’s major teak tough that they will gravitate and it’s funny with rose you just look at his recent finishes any top 10 tend to be around Majors he’s he’s not shooting 27 under around kaaloa he’s just not happening anymore but you put him on a golf course that’s putting up plenty of resistance and where you can manage your way around yeah get that just gravitates uh yes so looked at Fowler had a serious look at um Rosie I like I like that bet I think if I’d have had any and you know if anyone’s going to be SP inspired but by Robert McIntyre winning it’s going to be Rosie very very close Association they had at at the rer cup didn’t they yeah so I get that I do get that I plumped for a kind of he’s genuinely 50 to1 out in fact it’s 55 to one if you want to take five places of courtly odsy industry standard with bet Fred or bet Victor I took the 45 to1 eight places Route with bet 365 if we’re looking at we’re getting quite close now to the business I mean it worries me when I when I look at all my data and stuff we’re getting quite close to like the Tour Championship and don’t say sounds ridiculous but we’re in June um decisions are not a million miles away for President’s Cup and you’ve got a lot of players out there who were in the rider Cup last year who are not in the top 12 for qualification now it’s going to be a six and six again six Autos six picks that’s for both teams both International and USA Sam Burns Justin Thomas Jordan SPI Ricky Fowler and Tony fenale are all outside the top 12 births for Team USA at the moment and I know you could sit here and go well you can you know Jim could pick them all I don’t think he’s going to be in a position where he can pick all of them I would have thought he’d take burnsy because he knows that burns is the world number One’s best mate I’d be amazed if he didn’t take JT and Jordan SP yeah but that’s leaving people like Ricky Fowler who literally has shown nothing this year and Tony F now hasn’t shown a lot more in trouble especially when you got players like Keegan Bradley who again was another one I took a really close Lookout this week he’s playing some phenomenal golf second last time out at the Charles swap there’s going to be a couple in there that don’t make it they need to start playing good golf and Tony feno to me is showing that he’s got his head around it and he needs to start focusing on actually the golf rather than the family to a certain extent City shot opening 65 at the PJ and opening 66 at Colonial he was 10th and sixth heading into the final rounds at that both those tournaments PJ and the Charles swab challenge yep so he’s getting there he just falls apart when it comes to Sunday but it’s all again again it’s jts with Tony it’s all about the putter he’s putting badly the driving’s good he seems to have got back to courses now he did this at the PJ and at Colonial we actually more at Colonial than PJ was terrible with a driver at Valhalla but at Colonial on a course where he realized he he needs to find a short gr all of a sudden he’s hitting 305 off the te but he’s eating it a lot straighter those easy drives yeah if he can do similar kind of thing here and rather than lash at it but I don’t think the course design allows him to lash at it where he’s forced to take more easy drives or three Woods more Short Grass his approach play all year has been phenomenal we just need him not to be shooting five you know minus five on the greens and I could see fenale right in the hunt this way and he needs to it we’re also coming to this part of the schedule Pole where where we’re going to be playing 3M opens we’re going to play be playing rocket mortgage Classics this is the part where fenale as we’ve seen in the past comes to golf courses with weak fields and can obliterate Fields he needs to do something soon so I think he’s want to keep a very close eye on Tony fenel because you know actually you look at his game he’s not a million miles away it’s just that literally he’s putting with the back of his putter After Time by looks of it rather than the actual blade at the front but there are rounds there are performances where the putter is getting back closer to neutral or slightly better I’m just praying that this is another one of those so I went for fale at 45 to one eight places with 365 there are 55s out there so fenale for me JT Victor and K morawa you are on uh RI and Rose just the two and still contemplating talk him I must say I I haven’t quite made my mind up I might end up having a little bit on him after last week but yeah this President’s Cup situation is bubbling I mean I know McKenzie Hughes was clearly Canadian but again Ryan Fox was near he Ryan Fox is out at the top 12 yeah playing some good stuff though Fox yes and again he’s coming into this run of golf coures I think will suit treelined like when worth easier scoring so you’re talking Detroit Golf Club we’re talking uh the 3M openup in Minnesota I think those courses will suit a fox to a certain extent so again another to keep an eye on it’s just the we’ve got to keep an eye on these Trends as we move closer to these and at the end of the day these people also got to get themselves into decent positions for the FedEx Cup playoffs which aren’t a million miles away I know right let’s move I mean this event we’re coming into now Paul this this is probably the funkiest event of the the Volvo car Scandinavian mixed to mouthful isn’t it yeah it is that’s one way to describe it funky yeah it’s they’re not shy are they the DP world so I haven’t been historically trying these different formats and uh this is one of the ones that’s stuck they you know we’ve had a lot of these kind of hybrid match play and um stroke play events that I actually quite enjoy when they played them and then they’ve dropped off the uh schedule sadly but the the Scandinavian mix is stuck this is the the fourth edition of it now and um it’s pretty straightforward in the way it works 78 men 78 women all competing for the same prize so you got a single leaderboard um everyone plays the same course at the same time and all to the same pins the only difference is the ladies use one t and the men use another to to try and equalize the the differential from off the tea which is evident between the two genders but other than that um it’s you know everyone’s playing exactly the same time the same course so everyone’s trying to compete against each other and we have seen some mixes of uh how the final leaderboards have panned out but if you look at the the market for this week it is undoubtedly mailed dominated and that’s where the The Bookies have kind of set their stall out for this week Rasmus hoard’s a favorite 16 to1 in place is generally 14 to1 or shorter Sebastian Soderberg 18 to1 Alexander buor 22s Nicholas norgard Müller 25s Johannes verman still teetering on the edge of something big I think verman 28 to1 um Alex Fitzpatrick same prize Yanik Paul same prize you got to go down to thir 30 to1 ly Grant who was the 2022 winner here for the shortest priced woman in the field she’s 30 to one so The Bookies have kind of made a set out the store with this and uh they see it as male dominated and um yeah I guess looking at historically that’s probably some probably some legs in that anyway Bo Sports eight places each way this week uh bet 365 again have their eight Place options as do bet Fred um the one I picked out this week was lab Brooks cuz um I’ve only backed three this week and all three of them were with lab Brooks who had a really good combination of seven places each way and some strong prices as you go down the field this week so um well worth a look if you don’t tend to use lab Brooks um or Coral both the same pric in this week um seven places each way 50 of the odds and some decent prices too so so do give them a look new course this year they played a different course for this on each of the four renewals which really doesn’t help um it gives us gives us something to dig into I suppose uh this year it’s at vitor’s Gulf Club um which is in the southwest of Sweden just to the north of Malmo if you know your geography of the uh the Swedish area uh 7,295 yd par 72 for the men so a little bit longer than they’ve played in previous editions of this um will be shorter for the women I’ve not seen a final um yardage but it does tend to be maybe 800 maybe up to a, yards shorter for the for the women so um there are some significant differences but then that calculation has been made to try and equalize everything um and make it a fair fight so uh let’s let’s hope they’ve got it um about right this year uh the tournament coures where they’re playing it was put together back in 2008 and it uses what were nine of the old holes here on the vitor’s uh estate I think there’s 54 holes in total so it uses nine of the old ho holes which were treelined kind of Parkland in style and then it uses nine new holes that are far more Inland links in style so we do see this and particularly on the mainland particularly in this kind of part of the uh the world we often see um the kind of hybrid courses that have a you know two different sides two different characteristics and yeah you you’ll certainly notice that the front line is um is far tighter far more treein than the back which does open out into some uh some kind of almost lynxy style certainly Inland linkx in the way it looks coarse structure and but if you’re looking for the history of the course there’s nothing there there’s there’s nothing tangible that I could find um they used to use the estate the golf club for the Scandinavian open back in the 70s and the 80s when when seie was mopping up but um since then there’s been some lower grade events and some women’s events but nothing on this new setup from 2008 um so nothing tangible to work with um in that respect I’m afraid so we’re just going to have to go off spec this week just on what the course looks like sets up like and how it’s described in terms of the weather Sunshine showers are the first well actually for the full four days now by the looks of it um 10 to 15 mph wind since I wrote my preview yesterday Sunday is looking quite a bit windy now and it looks like it could be gusting 2530 on Sunday afternoon which could make for an interesting finish for the leaders we’ll see if that sticks temperatures around 15 Centigrade so um really struggling to hit 60 F 60 fahrenheit on the uh on the week so particularly fairly cool um but sunshine and showers nothing massively un to and uh until we get to Sunday by the looks of it we got three winners of this over the three years that we’ve played um all of them in different courses as I say Jonathan calwell won the first edition of this um 150 to1 he was and he was coming off a season’s best um performance early that um year of 21st it wasn’t a massive amount to grab on to with Coldwell 150 to1 Ling Grant won the 2022 Edition um she’d won two of her previous five starts and she won by Massive nine shots in the end she absolutely walked the field Ling Grant um a couple of years back 28 to1 and then last year Dale whitel um 140 to1 so again similar kind of price point to Coldwell he missed four of his previous five Cuts 81 in his other start so he had incoming form of Mis cut Mis cut Mis cut 81 Miss cut so if you managed to pluck Dale whitel out off the back of something um that’s you could eyeball in terms of form then very well done indeed but yeah try and pick the bones out of that 150 to1 28 to1 uh female winner then 140s and yeah I don’t mean it’s really given us any any real Clues um and of course the the course isn’t given us any real clues either I think if you think through it generally though if you take Ling Grant out the equation the men have dominated the leader boards in this um just two women in the last um in the top 10 last year and that’s fairly typical of how the leaderboards have tended to end up around here so um I think you can never put a rule through uh the likes of Ling Grant doing the same kind of thing again um I I couldn’t find you know Grant when she came into this she was playing some really good stuff as I say she’d won two of her previous five stars doesn’t seem to be someone in that kind of ilk someone in that kind of form out at the moment so excuse I’d be surprised if that happened again but we’ll say you know there’s always an exception to the rule and certainly is always an exception to the rule in this game anyway um I’ve kept it quite tight I’ve kept it very tight in fact I’ve only backed three three um and I had a really good think about this because you know lorri caner you pointed out to me yesterday Stephen it you know hadn’t Escape me um that Lorie caner had finished top for strokes G TAA green on his previous start he did and I don’t want to go back and listen to last week’s pod but I’m sure I said something along the lines of if you st him from one single point of statistic then start from Strokes G to Green so if you’d gone as simplistic as said okay I’ve listened to what Paul said who played well from te green last week oh it was Lori caner um and the guy wins yeah now I would historically look at Lorie Canter’s name and I would think well we’ve seen Lorie caner in contend in positions before and we’ve seen him not convert before and I’m not going to back him on that basis and that undoubtedly is the wrong way to approach this game because people do develop people do grow and learn and find ways to get over the line and I look down the list again this week and Connor s statistically sticks out to me and I look at the name and I think I’ve been on S before we’ve seen s get into position um and not convert and I can’t back him a 30 to1 and I just took a step back and thought that’s not the way to do it this the the whole scenario last week the caner could Inspire someone like a Conor who I do put into a very similar bracket you know one of these players who’s undoubtedly capable just does struggle to get over the line um and could this be could this be the way that he you know that he gets his win could he could he see well you know one one of my peers one of my um you know one of my competitors has just done what I’ve been striving to do for the last few years and I can go and do the same thing I can take inspiration from that um quite possibly I I counted down 10 times since he got his breakthrough on the challenge tour back in 2019 that he’s been in the top three heading into Sunday on the DP World Tour and hasn’t converted so he’s puts himself into position time and time again most recently back at the SDC championship and just a few weeks ago he shot 75 from the from the lead on going into Sunday so he’s he’s been doing it again quite recently um but then you know can proove that players can and do get over that they find a way to to to work through it mentally and um the door opens and they they find a way to do it can I just ask you what do you think to the fact that we’ve had so many Live players winning on the DP World Tour this season I mean you mentioned this because you were on Thomas Peters who was the guy that clearly didn’t win he just finished second instead amazing you know for the podcast but what do you think to it cuz it’s certainly a a thing you got burnt vburger that’s going to be going off at 14 to1 next time he plays he’d probably win cuz he’s inexorably getting close to the top of the leaderboard excellent yeah yeah it’s I I I’d suspect it feels like a step down when they come and play um you know say what you like about the live circuit the players that you’re competing against that you’re rubbing shoulders with are big names and if you’re you know like when I put Peters up um the week before last he had finished what fifth to Brooks k or something like that on his previous housing you know that you’re looking at that leader Ballard and thinking well i’ I’ve been up there and I’ve been you know just just just shy of beating someone like a Brooks kepka and then I’m coming to a DP World Tournament where I’m the favorite or one of the favorites and I’m not seeing any of those kind of names around me and yeah yeah yeah is is there is there there’s no intimidation for Factor yeah I think so you know is there is a mental relaxation of you know how you approach your golf from those particular weeks but yeah you’re absolutely right I mean back into the last year the the live guys were absolutely mopping up and uh yeah can you know he played a lot of Liv over the last season hadn’t he and um yeah he’s found his way to to get through over the line of the DP World Tour now so you know perhaps the flood gates all open for him we we shall see but yeah you know s again as I say I think I put him in the same kind of bracket in terms of capability I think the thing with s i I think if he’s going to take inspiration from caner he can take inspiration from Bob McIntyre as well because the two are very similar age they played together um on various Scottish um Team events boys competitions amateur events all the way back to 2013 um they played together at the St Andrews trophy the Eisenhower trophy The Walker cup plenty of other stuff over the years so um they’re friends they’ve got on for you know and played together for for many a year now and I think if he can take a look and see what McIntyre did last week and take some inspiration from that then that could be something that that helps him should he find himself into you know in contending position again this week we’ll see 34 fo the sudal open open um open the 65 there 22nd in Germany last week third for strokes G approach so playing some and stuff warming up for a big week I think and perhaps this is the week that Conor does win um we shall see little experiment for me because I I I got to say I wouldn’t ordinarily have gone down that rout but um I think if you carry on doing the same thing Steve and um keep keep just missing you’ve got to change your approach with these things so agreed we’ll see and the other two are a bit longer Todd Clement have backed 100 to one again that was with labrook 7 each way you can get slightly longer if you um go for the bog standard eway places uh you know talking intangible things um you know we again we talked about Bob out getting his dad on the bag last week in Canada this week Todd Clemens um and his partner Olivia Cowan who plays on the L they’re both playing in this golf tournament so are you going to have a scenario where you know the performance of one is spurring on the the performance of the other I’ve seen C’s be well backed in the market actually she’s she’s far longer but she she took a lot of um had a lot of support yesterday uh I don’t know it’s it’s one of those things where you can have an unusual situation and perhaps the the performance or the um the fact that they’re both playing in the same event at the same time could could spur either or both of them on we shall see you remember Clemens he won the um Czech Republic last year he was up against Matt Wallace on the Sunday and shot an incredible round 63 to win um his first DP World Tour title not much since but then he had a top 20 at the sudal open um a few weeks back that was his best result since winning 34th last week um no disgrace I think that course doesn’t suit anywhere near as much as this Parkland lynxy kind of hybrid course which I think should suit Clemens much better so yeah going down the intangibles route I think Clemens could could play well this week the other one I’ve backed um Garrick portius 200 to one again seven each way with lad Brooks who snuck into the field off the back of his eighth place finish last week and some good parallels to to the winners here Dale whitel and Jonathan calwell both of them both of the winners in their 30s multiple winners at lower tier levels um and both of them managed to get their breakthrough DP World Tour win here and um Portis would be in exactly the same bracket should he uh should he do that this week um comes from Colchester in Essex same as Dale Whit again perhaps there’s some uh some inspiration he can draw from that it’s all about inspiration this week my three picks at Fourth into the weekend last week shot of 77 on Saturday but then recovered a little bit to shoot 70 on Sunday third the strikes game Puttin was good if you go back um April he won uh on the challenge tore the Abu Dhabi challenge shot of 63 on Sunday I remember that cuz he he was um up against Alex Levy who had uh kind of resurfaced and Levy did very little wrong but Porteus was outstanding um got his first win at all levels for seven years and um perhaps he’s playing the kind of golf overall that that could see him step up and seriously contend for a DP World Tour title we shall see but to one quite happy to take a chance so Porteus Todd Clemens and Connor Sim just the three for me just as I say keeping it tight you never quite know what to expect in this event but um that’s how I am playing it bit of a mfield Steve you got anyone that you’ve uh you’ve thought about for this one sorry absolutely nobody it’s a tough one it’s um yeah you could get something completely if you look at the the two male winners who who’ve won as I say the form incoming for both of them was poor and then Ling Grant who absolutely walked it a couple of years back I have got some content though Liv they’re playing in Houston this week they’re playing the old you know when they used to play oh we’re going way back the shell Houston open yeah yeah and they used to play at Redstone they called it it was always the week before the Masters yeah and then it got changed to the golf club of Houston and they lost their shell sponsorship and it kind of went downhill from there MH but they’re playing that golf course on live and I saw a message on our Facebook group the other week and there was a guy on there chatting about oh I’m looking forward to the live event and I think the market was already up and I agree with what he’s saying he backed Chucky three sticks Charles how III and Charles how he’s one of those players you know that just he won on live at Maya Coba and if you look at his record at Maya Cobra on the PJ to it was phenomenal now I’m not suggesting that his record here at Houston’s as good but he’s had a 18th a 7th a fifth a 10th a 19th across his last seven Tri outs there yeah clearly gets on well with a course I reckon Charles Hal III at 70 to1 Is Not a Bad Bet this week Paul case is a winner here never one on live so that’s an angle but I’m not backing him the one I went for in the end and I still think that there’s something there with with him I still think that at some point he’ll find his game and I know a lot of people don’t but he was actually seventh on his last live outing in Singapore went to the PJ 43rd hasn’t done anything in the two majors missed the cut of the Masters has won on live so far this season first in Las Vegas he’s had a fifth at myoba his record here is decent he finished fourth here in 2013 on this course of course and third here in 2016 so I’m going to have a few pounds each way 22 to1 Dustin Johnson so bit of DJ and a longer chance on Charles Hal III at the Liv Gulf in Houston clearly again worth keeping an eye on because we’re all traveling from Ohio and from Texas they’ll all be traveling to South Carolina for Pinehurst number two US Open next week yeah yeah you can’t ignore the live guys particularly week before a major you got to got to keep an eye on what they what they’re doing and how they’re performing just out of Interest John R 8 to1 favorite dambo at 11s with wacky Neeman cam Smith and Brooks kepka tyh all 14 to one it was a bit weird this week without Barry but we got through it Paul yeah yep with that made it to the end we made it to the end I hope your bets go well yeah best luck I hope you don’t have any contenders that collapse on Sunday yeah you never know we might get a winner rather than a second place you never know we’ll be back later this week as I said we will be back for the US Open research preview pod as I said at the top of the show if you could send us in five star reviews we are literally out so uh the next segment will be rather dull as dish waterer it’ll be silent in fact so if you can send in some reviews that’d be great I hope your bets go well we’ll be back later in the week see you again soon if you like betting on golf but everyone that you back misses the cut get some experts [Music] involved with all the stats and the tips and so much more cuz it’s the golf beding system the golf beding system is the golf bed in system podcast

Good to see you all again. Thanks for Sharing your thoughts and picks. Good-Luck to ALL. Have A Blessed Week.
sympathies to Paul. I was on Guido at The Belfry last year and he fell apart after leading through 54 holes. I think we can safely say that he's suited to coming from behind rather than leading.
Steve, agree with your comments and praise for the Canadian Open, it's a great part of the tour. Golf Canada with the support of RBC have done a terrific job taking it to another level and holding it at classic old courses. With that said, next year may be an aberration in terms of the course style as it was recently announced that TPC Toronto, opened ~2001, will play host for the first time. It's a well regarded course but not in the same league (imo) as Hamilton, Oakdale, St George's et al. The architect is known for designing high end courses that look attractive and are "playable", therefore popular among recreational golfers (willing to pay high end prices), but it's not necessarily in the "classic" category. One example is Angus Glen, a public course which was awarded the Cdn Opens in 2002 & 2007, and while the events were successful they were somewhat forgettable. Oh, and btw the venue is the new home of Golf Canada, and is also aligned with the pga tour & tpc network (since the name change to TPC Toronto from Osprey Valley in 2018)…so perhaps there's a clue for the venue choice.😉 I'm sure it will be a first class event as always, but not sure it will be distinguishable from a course standpoint. Hope to be proven wrong though. Cheers and keep up the great work!
This has to be the first time Steve has offered selections on a LIV event. Charles Howell III is a WD this week; replaced by John Catlin. I will follow Steve on DJ.
Hov v Mori. Agree Steve. Winner coming.
