Contested each May, the PGA Championship is the second major championship in golf’s annual rotation, and perennially features the strongest field in the men’s game based on the Official World Golf Rankings. Known for dramatic finishes and notable champions, the Wanamaker Trophy—which has been awarded to the winner since 1916—is inscribed with names such as Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.

The 2024 PGA Championship is set to take place between 13-19 May at Valhalla Golf Club. The reigning champion is Brooks Koepka.

  1. For the sake of comparison, I would like to see this shot attempted with a persimmon-headed driver and then we will know how much of this great shot is the result of technology vs. the skill of the player. What has been allowed to happen in golf with regard to technology is the equivalent of pro baseball players being allowed to use metal bats and then crowing about how far they hit a home run. I’m not hating on this player or any other player because they don’t set the rules regarding equipment, but technology has had an effect on golf like it has on no other sport to the extent that it is fundamentally not the same game that Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus played. Just like baseball would be a different game if it was played with metal bats, so too is golf a different game today than it has been throughout the vast majority of its history.
