e e e e e welcome welcome welcome Chase por Tyler sisy here with you this afternoon around 3:00 on Monday is when we hit the record button cisy is one podcasting fool today he did about 27 minutes with Mr mccrady who’s on his way to the great unknown he will get there some hours from now some hours later so we’re just going to have a little fun we’re going to we’re going to talk a little bit we’re going to let uh sisy Revel in Neil’s discomfort over the next uh few days go through some of the ways that uh he put that together I mean barely winning that competition not not giving Neil any any free units even though he was the football coach nothing like that but hey here we go we’re paying the penants we’re paying in the BET Neil on his way to North Pole Alaska as we are uh getting going so we’ll hit that I’m going to ask sisy a couple other questions we won’t be with you too long today we’re going we’re going to we decided to fire up the live stream see what’s uh see what’s going on with uh Mr sisy who’s having quite the day already been to Memphis and back and and talked to Neil who’s I think still in Chicago at this moment for about another hour and 15 minutes as we’re this morning he gave Neil the uh the the infamous envelope that let him know where he was going um we didn’t even get to the we’re doing a giveaway it’s too late to enter so we’ve got plenty of entries the entries cut off because we’ve already got the mass counter going but he’s uh we’re giving away a free uh heating and air system or air and heating system uh for the for the house those guys that comr and Southern been awesome and uh so the the winter has to guess the closest how many mask Neil sees on his journey uh we honestly made it about three feet into the airport Neil sat his bags down and we were going he’s like hey let me go use the restroom then we’ll film our deal I was like yeah cool and so I was like hey we’ll just go in baggage claim area and there’s I know I’ve been in the airport a thousand times so there’s a restroom right to the left there it’s like cool we sat it down and he did not have his bag sat on the chair and and then we had a mask come literally sit in the chair next to next to the bags he went click there’s one so uh it’s gonna be it’s gonna be a good uh good deal so it’s a good thing this is not on Tik Tok because we’d already be banned Chase we already have strikes we are we are all good we are free to uh to to proceed at as going and I I’ve got I’ve got a thousand questions here and I’m I’m going to kind of let you take me through it a little bit but again just for anybody who’s been under a rock because I know there are hopefully you listen to everything you should listen to everything but from someone who’s not listening to mccre and sisy every day the way that uh you do the morning show um Blue Sky live that’s here with you Neil loses the BET to Tyler back in the fall he gets to send him anywhere in the in the in the 50 States because that’s a very important caveat here not the Continental but the uh the states he has to get back by bus train and plane however he sees fit and he found out this morning that he is headed to North Pole Alaska so he’s flying from Chicago to Fairbanks and then he has to get on over to North Pole I I looked at the accommodations that you put him in Tower I think Hotel North Pole that is some that is some no FRS place right there you guys got to check this out if you haven’t because look the town looks kind of neat they’ve got an L house we’re going to talk about that in a minute they do Christmas decorations all that stuff this hotel though I’m not sure some prison sales aren’t a little better than the hotel rooms at this place no offense Hotel North Pole if you’d like to advertise send us an email we’ll be nicer when you do but I what I here’s my favorite Ty this is my favorite when you click on sweets they have many suites available and it gives you this little cabinet over in the corner and it has a mini fridge and a microwave that’s what they mean by suets they take the normal room that has to point out and and brag about the fact that there was a uh a flat screen TV in the room there is no coffee maker in the normal room it takes the suite to get M room coffee maker at hotel north pole but hey it looked like maybe the best lodging option that was available there he got the Santa Claus Suite so he’s gonna have Christmas trees complete sorry my bad whoa whoa whoa whoa my bad hey he’s got Christmas trees in his suite so um I couldn’t resist so yeah I when he lost the competition which was close by the way I offered to cuz last year I beat him by a good a good margin so I offered I think I don’t remember if it was I beat him by nine units or 12 units the first year I can’t remember what it was um so I offered whatever I beat him by in year one as a handicap for year two and he turned it down he didn’t want to do it so I don’t feel bad about that part well he was crushing me for a majority of the season and and literally I was down big with like two or three weeks to go and we had a couple he had a couple three and eight weeks I had a couple eight and three weeks I hit a couple money lines and it literally came down to the Monday night game and we had picked opposite of each other and I think that’s what I did the last week whatever he picked I completely just to keep it going right yeah and I called him on the last game he was not very happy about that um the alternative if I would have lost I would have had to go uh spend the night in a haunted house and stream and thank goodness I didn’t lose but yeah so we we uh I picked this this place back uh probably about two or three months ago just waiting on the surgery and all that stuff so he could get you know get moving around I didn’t want him crutching um I knew I wanted to send him to Alaska there’s strategy behind this though so I uh I for those that don’t know in recruiting you have to deal with Logistics a lot okay and so I’m I’m good with flights and times and schedules and things and so I knew sending him West was going to be the best for the show because when you send a coach or send anybody out west anytime you come back East you have to deal with red eyes mhm and so I look for uh the only way they are actually three hours behind they’re an hour behind Pacific time so uh knowing anytime you’re coming back East you have to deal with the red eye so he’s GNA have to spend at least one night in the plane he’s got to use his plane to start with so that gets that out um and this place only flies into like three things I think it’s like Seattle Denver Minneapolis Denver and Chicago I think if I’m if I’m right I got by a couple different routes uh that it flies back into it’s all red eye and here’s the caveat the trains don’t run on a regular schedule so so he’s going to get stuck depending on what route he chooses if he decides to come back home sooner he’s going to be traveling in the train and bus longer if he decides to stay out longer he’s going to uh he’s gonna miss he’s gonna be stuck in some cities for a while waiting on the trains and the buses because my favorite part of what you’ve done to him is he can get to Chicago he can get to Chicago he can he can hang out in the windy city he can do some sights some whole deals but if he does that he’s out the absolute longest and he can be gone before he gets back home at that point yeah so I talked about this on the show I kind of gave it away I gave a hint out one day I was like hey there are different ways that you can choose and the the the path of least resistance is going to leave him out uh probably the entire week um so he he’s and he you know as much as he’s going to love going to Alaska um his Fascination I know it Neil like you know Neil his fascination with this trip is going to end about the time he checks into the airport in Alaska that’s when his Fascination is going he and it’s going to hit him he’s like I got to figure out how to get back to uh and we and we determined Memphis or Tupelo being home base uh so he’s got to uh let me know I’m gonna pick him up at whenever he gets back I hope he gets back before before Saturday because I got plans to go to Lake for more so you know hey I I hope he gets back I I got uh I’m ready to go to the lake so a couple things what was going to be a number two or number three choice or did you even get that far did you always know it was going to be North Pole well number he’s lucky that he didn’t qualify for this first one I was gonna send him because he was always joking about going Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii I was gonna send him to America Samoa oh yeah I was going to send but you have to have a passport even though it’s an American territory and he doesn’t have one but I was going to send him that it that that does hinder us a little bit the fact that he doesn’t have a passport is interesting it hindered it hindered a little bit so that I had to keep that in my thought process America Samoa I’ve coached a couple of players over the years from American Samoa the Trek home like flying straight is it takes like almost two and a half days I mean it’s it’s a nightmare because they didn’t one they didn’t have the the fun they had to get the cheapest flights and all that stuff and layovers it’s a it’s a long trk to get out there if you if you’re working on a budget and considering I could control the very first leg of the flight I was that was going to be a long Trek out there like he would have hated my guts that’s the funny part of what you did I told you this in text M a little while ago is you were incredibly nice you’ve got him to Memphis to Chicago and then straight to Fairbanks because I looked around Tyler you could have done some damage you could have done some Chicago to Denver to Salt Lake to San Francisco there was like a four-way connection with one of those deals and it was going to be like a 27h hour trip or something um I could have but hey how about this so he I don’t know if you if you heard but uh Marshall I don’t know I don’t know his his handle but uh Marshall uh gets he says Hey calls him or text him or something said hey are you are you on United I think he used some of his points and got him a freaking first class ticket upgraded him from uh Chicago to Fairbanks and I had him we had this discussion on the show the last week about uh about people driving me crazy in the plane like getting up in the in the plane and walk in the bathroom every five minutes and so right after that I spent 48 of my own dollars to change his seat from he wanted aisle seat so I changed it to the aisle seat right next to the bathroom on both flights so I so he got okay hold on a minute couple things there number one yeah we know Marshall know Marshall long time great guy that was incredibly kind it feels illegal though like that feels like an stipulation th this feels somewhat like when they used to do um strapped on no laying up and they break some rules like I feel like we need some sanctions on Neil for taking the first class fight flight can we can we discuss that can can we possibly put some sanctions on Mr mccrady for this I I was so uh and I hinted at him I was so you know I’m a football coach man and I was like I was joking I said uh Chris Lee good friend Chris Lee that uh covers for Vandy he he he text me this morning you know about he saw video on stuff he was texting me he had so much I mean just the best ideas and I was like I should have called him and he was like hey have you called the Chamber of Commerce I was like what he goes have you called the Chamber of Commerce they’ll like welcome him at the airport he goes have you called like the local TV station they’ll love this and so I kind of told deal this in the last I don’t know if he really called it Chase I called the Chamber of Commerce I’ve talked to de Devonte from the uh Devonte from the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce shout out to Devonte and uh what’s my girl’s name I can’t remember but it’s it’s KATV or something like that I I talked to Fox CBS and the NBC affiliate in Fairbanks I think they’re running a story on this are gonna be at the airport when he arrives tonight this is gonna be great his discomfort yes it’s I mean I am getting hot thinking about his discomfort when he gets off this plane like Chris had a great idea too I may have to go do it on the back end when I find out if I can do it because he’ll I’ll have to know where he’s going because we gota like and he’ll tell me so I gotta figure out where it’s going Chris had a great idea too so Neil’s probably yeah he’s eating right now so he’s probably not watching so and he can’t watch on the plane with first class me so I want Chris this is not my idea this is Chris Lee shout out to Chris Lee he said we need to hire a Marchi band and have them waiting on him at the gate when he gets off the plane this would be the greatest thing ever like Mr Neil like have a sign that says M Mr Scoops we get a sign that says Mr scoops and they mariachi bands playing playing his favorite song what do you think I’m I’m all in whatever you’d like we’ll open the checkbook we’ll open the PayPal we’ll get it going hey look hey you’re red you’re red oh my God this makes you sweat doesn’t it yeah it does like I’m uncomfortable for him because I know how he is like this is so how okay how far from Fairbanks to North Pole what is that leg for him it’s only like Fairbanks North Pole is like it’s not far it’s like 20 minutes 20 miles so is he ubering so uh I got him I got him a car so I got him a car car I got him a car hotel room um was going to do the Uber and just let it ride but you know I don’t know how much the uh I don’t know the Uber how many Uber drivers we have have in Alaska so I didn’t want to I didn’t you know he’s going to have some dude named like Harley the whole trip if he needed an Uber like it’s going to be same guy that just took him around yeah it’ be personal show for don’t yeah I mean look we always support super chats don’t get me wrong but if you are super chatting to pay for anything that we are talking about here do not do that Google takes a cut we don’t want to screw you on that number one we got it but number two we would not want to do it that way so don’t I’m trying to head that off before any of you guys uh take it yeah don’t don’t don’t worry about all that um but yeah so uh we got a we got a very generous budget for this trip so the guys that uh Eric was very generous at comr and Southern we got everything taken care of so we’re we’re good there so appreciate you guys on that your guess is he’s home on Friday I think if I know Neil I think it’s going to be a Friday arrival at some point in time I just know that the because the red eyes are going to he’s he is going to have to R out of the flight so that’s not even that’s not even an option wherever he decides to go that’s not an option so so then it’s going to be either the train or the bus depending on his route home is going to have to be a red eye okay red ey and and and again the schedules don’t aren’t like a air it’s not like an airport you know they don’t they don’t go um you know as frequently as you would think so yeah it’s uh it’s Unique and then there’s there’s also I found this out that hey for all you guys want to travel this summer I found this out when you go I did I was totally unaware so I was I was messing with r and things on the trains and where the trains all that stuff did you know that Greyhound and Amtrak work together I had no idea and you if you go book a trip from like point A to point B on Amtrak they’ll be like yeah here’s your cost and you you think they don’t even tell you it just says combination ticket and you’re thinking like yeah sure I gotta change trains or whatever dude it will drop you off somewhere and you may have to ride a bus for a long time so doesn’t seem Neil may go book him a train just somewhere and realiz that halfway through the train trip he’s got to get off and take a bus and he’s not even gonna get halfway home this will be great we need a whoop on him he wears an AA ring right we get to see all the blood pressure monitoring throughout this throughout this trip as he as he goes yeah he he’ll be good he’ll be I’m telling you he’ll be he’ll he will love it he’ll be as happy as a lark until he has to get on that plane to come back that’s when it’s going to change he’s actually going to really enjoy the 24 hours to the point of he’s going to feel like a damn vacation yeah it’ll be for 24 hours and then when he gets when he starts that that treack back that’s where it’s going to sink in so what all is available in this town to him help me out with a tourism standpoint of this place lot of Santa Claus a lot of Santa Claus that’s their that’s their deal they actually it’s uh I was joking it’s a Bowman Metropolis it was like a thousand uh population about 10 years ago and has grown uh like to right around 2000 so they’re booming man the suburbs of Fairbanks baby uh they do have a football team they have a soccer team football team not so good uh three and seven uh for what what I do for a living I’ve actually pulled them up and watched a little bit don’t have to worry hey you don’t have to worry about Neil looking for any running backs or linebackers out out in North Pole I don’t think he’s coming back with any uh so was bad football sisy it was bad football oh it’s rough it’s rough I think the old Oxford Buccaneers could take them it’s it’s rough it’s rough I don’t I don’t I don’t mean to be you know on kids playing ball but it’s rough um I could take my kids out there and they’d be all Americans I mean it’s it’s hey it’s an idea hey look hey if you want to get recruited go to North Pole let him play on the football team he I guarantee you any any kid that plays football in the South would score a minimum of 100 touchdowns a year at at North Pole High School 100 touchdowns a year yeah you would be the if you run a 55 you’d be the fastest kid on the field by a second I mean I mean it’s it’s it’s have you ever sent a coach to Fairbanks sis I have never sent a coach to Alaska I’ve sent coaches all over the place never Alaska um the other the other thing I wanted to do too when I decided on Alaska instead of uh American Samoa I actually wanted to send him to Dutch Harbor which is where Deadliest Catch starts oh I wanted to go like he had to start his journey next to one of the boats you know cuz they dock out there in this if offseason they dock him there um but the the the cost of a plane ticket to get into Dutch Harbor oh was stupid like would have blown right through the budget it’s it’s hella expens because they fly like you know crop dusters in there so um but yeah no his first leg of Big Ben in the chat I I got the chat p on the side big B’s asking would a bus or train ride in Alaska count uh I mean no he his first leg is going to be the flight out of Alaska so it’s gonna be a it’s GNA be a train um that’s why I did that so it’ll be a train and a bus from wherever he lands yeah you had to be logistical from that standpoint of not allowing him a 30 minute bus ride to the airport that would hurt the so I rent that card he has what kind of cars he got oh you know what I did I went I went I got the smallest car possible like I got him I was trying to find like you know some of those budget places have like those you know the ones that the like the local pharmacy uses that are like electric cars that just two seaters look like a Yugo they didn’t have any of those left uh they were sold out so I was uh yeah I was hoping uh I was hoping to getting one of those we got him in a we got him in a small one there is some truth to that grind sisy taking the time to actually watch film of North Pole High School football knowing I I don’t care you knew it was not going to be anything of of no like there was no way hey chase chase you drove down to Baton Rouge this weekend to watch a baseball team that had no hope so what’s the difference I did I I got a lot of people telling me on Saturday hey just go ahead and go home like just go ahead pack it up head on out like it’s it’s you stayed the whole time I’m not in Hoover today I’m hanging out with you that’s true that’s true that’s true I had a uh you this um Saturday I’m in the stands uh watching my my son play baseball my 8-year-old and I’m watching the PGA like this is how I watch auu baseball I was watching the PGA Championship on my phone and then when they said number four KNX sisy I I would look up and watch him and he’ go back to Dugout and i’ go back to watching my deal it was like a 75 maybe 80 year old grandmother she goes what’s in her best Southern voice of all time what’s the score of the game and I said um I said it’s a leader I said the leader is at minus 13 assuming and she goes minus 13 what is that and she goes what is the score of the are you watching the baseball game I was like oh no ma’am no ma’am no ma’am I’m watching I’m watching the PGA Championship she goes what is that I said that’s golf let’s go she goes you’re not watching The Old Miss baseball game like that was the only thing that I was allowed to be watching on my phone instead of watching my my son play like I she she kind of like talked bad to me she came gave me the disappointment you know not the mad it’s the disappointment you know when you get the disappointed look not the Mad look she was making me feel bad I thought she was going to make me go pick my own switch or something there for a second she was she was wearing me out about she definitely would have used your middle name if she knew it right there when she was getting on you that my middle name is Tyler so there you go oh you’re one of those like me where in school they’d say your first name and drive you insane growing up yeah because you know and then the kids would make fun I mean I don’t have a weird first name it’s William I don’t mind telling anybody but it’s like it be like hey Bill you know you know hey hey Bill you know whatever and but that last for about first two days of school then we go away yeah I was my first name’s Anthony so they would do that with me calling me Tony Little Tony yeah yeah yeah what it is so what’s going brought it up man B say you brought it up what would you do what would you do with Mike mine’s easy I I and I piss I’m going we’re going to watch this you w see the you don’t see the chat mail right here it’s not even a question it’s I would keep him as long as he wants to coach oh not even this year but period just as long as he wants to coach just you keep him as long as he wants to coach all right why because at the end of the day I know like it’s hard it’s hard for you to even understand this but there’s like five teams in the history of college baseball that actually know what the hell is going on in college baseball that’s Mississippi the state of whole state of Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi State LSU you know you tell me Texas Vandy or if they get into it or whatever Arkansas South Carolina whatever yeah but I was talking to Neil I was like like I grew up in Alabama you wouldn’t even know what the damn record of Auburn and Alabama was in Alabama unless they went to the World Series I can feel the heat arising from the chat I can feel it it’s like somebody turned to lighter over here but here’s all kid aside but here’s the reason right is because you can’t make an emotional decision there’s too much uncertainty um I think times are different probably leads me into that decision there’s too much uncertainty in college athletics I think Mike’s a I think Mike’s a good coach obviously the guy’s won what 900 games here a thousand total with a national championship and correct me if I’m wrong here the only National Title in a men’s sports since segregation is that accurate that is correct yes okay so that happened two years ago right right it did yes I don’t get emotional yeah nobody’s happy about the results but you don’t want to run the and you want to spend $7.7 million on a buyout plus plus the additional cost of a new staff plus the additional cost of nil to to get a guy in here and there’s a good chance in about a month from now you’re going to have a $30 million $30 million uh Bill and um I just I don’t think it’s it’s worth it in a sport that barely produces any profit at all now if you told me if this was football or men’s basketball yeah because those those Sports produce the profit that you’re going to need to survive in this new world of College athletics that’s about to start in about a month and so that’s more of why we’re in the new age but um yeah I’m I I get all the old Miss fans upset and melting down with that uh but I think you should coach as long as he wants to you you let him Coach through you let him Coach through his contract and I’m of the belief of this I don’t know if y’all talked about this for not Chase I didn’t listen to y’all show from last night yet I’ve been busy but I think the new world that we’re getting into here in a month with Revenue sharing and and then the and then the back uh penalties from this house case I would I would imagine you see all of these nonprofit producing sports the coaching salaries are going to go drastically down because you’re not going schools are not going to invest in sports that they’re not making money in and so they’re going to try to start cutting cost all those Sports um and you let him you let him run out of his contract and if he wants to come back and Coach you you negotiate whatever you and if he wins you pay him you know what I’m saying like you sure you you he he uh eats what he kills and um but we’re just in a new world man and I just don’t I don’t think it’s uh old baseball is so important to the Old Miss fan base but as as important as it is it still doesn’t produce profit um at the end of the day it’s not a profit producing Sport and you can’t and there’s no dollar sign on on emotion and you you have to be you’re you’re going to have to be very smart in how you approach this next next phase of College athletics but from a business athletic director side I don’t even have a I mean we’re gonna say hey I’m not you know we’re gonna have a conversation where hey we gota we got to do better y y ya but look bottom line is you sign into a long-term deal that’s very expensive you let him you let him run it out and you just and if it doesn’t work out you just have to take a of the sandwich it is what it is I mean I I do agree with you from the standpoint of I was talking about on the show yesterday that it’s not each sport individually it’s one whole EO ecosystem yeah everything’s together everything’s one you got one checkbook you don’t have a bunch of individual checkbooks you got one checkbook and that does matter I mean that matters big time um I just couldn’t justify spending 10 you know well I mean I’m probably I’m being a generous here probably a minimum a minimum of $10 million reinvestment in the program and and what are we getting here we’re getting we’re getting a whoever Chang a lineup card and and then it’s like the the sport of baseball and I’m going and I’m a little jaded here and I apologize but you know this in my opinion coaching in baseball is about and and this is what you should be evaluate on it’s your culture that you develop and it’s the it’s the evaluation of the talent that you assemble your job is to assemble a roster and your job is to create a culture okay I don’t think anybody’s going to argue with with you on the kind of culture that he has I think he’s one of the best in the business as far as doing that think he has great cultural players but yeah there’s going to be some you gota you got to start throwing questions around about the evaluation and things like that and why and why you’re in the situation that you’re in but it’s not a but he’s not going out there and going like when the kid goes and like I was here’s a perfect example because I know you watch the game I was watching the Auburn uh Old Miss game the game I think it was I think it was the first game of the series but it was the game they were up like five to one okay and somebody hit like a 97 Hopper to the second basem with two outs and Runners on second third and he just never even touched it went right under his legs they scor two runs when now five to three when you should be out of the inning five to one like he didn’t coach the guy to do that he doesn’t coach the guy to hang a curveball he doesn’t coach the guy to do that and so to me when you’re evaluating the coaching especially in baseball it’s about culture and devel velopment and development and accumulation of the of the roster you know football it’s about calling plays there’s so much more you know into it you know basketball I mean basketball’s got five dudes you get the you recruit the right one it it covers up a lot of mistakes um but there’s a lot of basketball coaches that aren’t great scheme wise that win because they have better players than everybody else no it’s it’s culture it’s recruiting it’s evaluation it’s assembling a roster like I mean I I I think you’re exactly right as far as baseball is the least impacted sport by minute to- minute decisions of any of them from a coaching staff standpoint you’re your War average coach if you will is closer to the top and the bottom than football or basketball or any other sport as far as how you manage that because it’s fewer decisions I mean other than calling pitches or something and even that’s a a formula more than an art in a lot of ways yeah so I mean or hey look we played a 8 U baseball game yesterday and and you know we are the worst team ever assembled in the history of the sport but we got we got one really good pitcher and we had until he when he left the game we were winning six to2 we end up losing seven to six I mean it’s it’s what it is and and you know when it om Miss what happened when Miss won the National Championship you had two pitchers that really you wasn’t counting on the start of the Year got incredibly hot and basically was unhitable for the last M quarter of the year or whatever you want to call it and that’s when they rode that so again it’s talent I mean again again I don’t I don’t I I don’t think that Mike was telling uh was telling DeLucia anything different than he was telling the guys he started season with you know I just but I’m I’m a Mike fan I will say that to start with I like Mike a lot I know you do too obviously but um I’m kind of uh and I I like laughry I like all those guys so I I I I would keep them until the contract ran out I would not spend another I would not in a new world of College athletics I would not spend $1 more than I had to on a nonprofit producing sport so a couple things that real quick again Old Miss State tomorrow night 8:00 8:30 somewhere in there hell I don’t know from Hoover Uh single elimination you play A&M if you win starting the double elimination part Old Miss announced today Ethan LJ will not play this week he is having another uh another procedure done next week because the uh injured area and his thumb has moved and x-ray shows so he is going to have to undergo a uh another procedure there with that it said uh direct quote Ethan had an x-ray this morning they found the bone had moved he’s staying behind an Oxford will have surgery on Wednesday to repair the fracture so that is the uh the answer there on uh on Ethan are you going to Hoover they have to win on Tuesday to get me there I I’ll go ahe and announce that in the Stream I’m actually not going tomorrow um for a couple different reasons couple work reasons with what’s going on with Neil out of town a couple things going on around here so I’m going to uh I’ll have whatever coverage I don’t think I’m missing anything on tomorrow night and then if it runs to to Wednesday we’ll we’ll go from there I did find that the uh the number one rated restaurant in North Pole Alaska is Little Richard’s Family Diner okay it is uh it is cheeseburgers milkshakes and breakfast served in a retro rail car with chrome and neon accents that’s not on Neil’s menu that’s going to be the best part is watching him have to eat like he’s going have to eat you know what I mean like that’s what it says no there’s no Health Food in this joint no they’re not they’re not up they’re not you know they’re not up there on the the Blackstone like getting all the grease out of the chicken I mean Neil Neil will find a way to cut the grease out of out of uh out of chicken you know he he’ll get it down there but um hey let me ask you a question real quick before we move on about baseball I don’t know if anybody’s brought this up I know personally because the conversations I had how much do you think I know this is kind of a catch 22 the year they won the national championship which was two years ago mhm they got way behind in recruiting Because of the travel and the playing and the how much how much is that coming back to impact you think look I I do I think it’s disingenuous to say that has no impact on it because it does you’re focused on games and actually completing your season in the most successful way possible while everybody else is on it I do think that can quickly be turned into an excuse too if we’re being Frank at the same time your your problem is you can’t get kids on campus yeah and you know it’s like especially in baseball kids that have been doing this they find the first deal that kind of makes sense for them they just take it out of the portal you don’t have to go do five visits and whatever so look I think that’s affected LSU this year I think it affected Old Miss last year it’s not om Miss has bigger problems again they have bigger problems don’t tell me I said it’s an excuse that’s not what I’m saying but it’s not exactly irrelevant that the last Su National Title team team sucked in the regular season the next year because of portal additions and doing some of those things so yes it plays a role but and now look right well state but you know there was no portal the year after they won the same way so I can’t really throw them into it exactly the same but yes but here’s the other part twoo and Miss was in the boat with most every team outside of Florida and Tennessee and a couple is they didn’t hit the portal after that 22 season the way that they ended up having to do it like I think you thought oh you just go grab some guys and we’re going to stay by the rules and we’re not going to Tamper and we’re not going to break them and we’re not going to make it such a big deal and then six months later you look up and everybody made it a big deal and here you go and and you’re off and running because look Nick poke Nick POG was the kid out of Florida he would have been a weekend starter for Old Miss in 2023 he turned down Old Miss and signed a minor league free agent contract wasn’t even drafted a free agent contct contract to go ahead and get out of college if that’s a year later you just pay him in iil and you overpay whatever the hell the major league minor league deal was and you move on but at that point we just weren’t Old Miss was not there as far as how all that worked and all that was going on so yeah look I know LSU is going to get in the tournament I’m not saying that but a typical LSU team is not 13 and 17 in the SEC either is my point but um so look does it play a role sure but that’s not their problem they’re they’re problem is evaluation development and recruiting at the high school level and getting the most out of those kids that are homegrown that’s it like I I actually am pretty steadfast on Miss doesn’t have a portal problem they have an evaluation and a high school recruiting problem as far as how those guys develop and get better and become the the backbone of your team as as sophomores and juniors let me ask you one more question I I I I said this on the board of day do you think there’s I know look there there’s there’s nothing like Old Miss baseball to get the get the old Miss fan base uh upset besides you know if you if you pee in in the end zone like a dog that will get you upset too sure but but the besides that the second most way to get him upset is baseball right so here’s my question to you all right let’s say let’s say Keith decides to make a move um and he goes to make a change is there ever is anybody talking about a r because I’m I’m I’m a coach okay I’ve done it for 20 years I know when you start looking at jobs and you get other people calling you how does it look on Old Miss to fire Mike biano who’s won 900 games and just won a national championship for you two years ago to hire if you’re gonna go try to hire somebody that’s in a good because you’re you’re not going just hiring some random dude down the street You’re Gonna Go hire a guy and so don’t you think there should be a concern to try to go if they did that to try to go hey we want you to come to our place and the guy goes wait a minute I’m making a bunch of money here we’re doing really well I got things going and you just fired the guy that won a national championship for you two years ago and oh by the way he’s won 900 games at your place don’t you think that would send up red flags to people they’re trying to hire some yes I mean yeah yeah yeah no because look I’m going be a little careful here but I have talked to some people just around college baseball over the last three four days and and and I keep getting asked that um and yes J Jam Gilla yes Miss has to recruiting classes it it’s development evaluations and how they work inside your ecosystem to fit inside your team it’s not necessarily recruiting almost Miss still recruits at a very high level um no there’s there’s no doubt about that and you have to you have to get down into the weeds to explain it so is it going to take you a minute to get there on why it’s happening sure but the other side of that and I think this is what Keith or anybody else would come back with is he’s been here 24 years he was only in danger twice ever he he he literally got caught interviewing with a with a rival and didn’t I mean that went away in like a month it wasn’t even a big deal he was the second highest paid coach at the end of 2022 and then even with everything going on this is only after the era changed with anel and they’re 17 and 43 in the last two SEC Seasons despite having top 12 National nil without having all this different stuff I mean like I think it takes a second in the first sticker shock is oh you are all idiots what the hell are you guys doing but I do think if somebody’s actually interested in the job they have the conversation and in a few minutes you go okay but let me break down why this is happening this is not because we’re making some knee-jerk reaction and doing this because of these reasons and you can argue to the side and look are there a couple coaches that already just out in The Ether asking about the’ll Miss job that go this makes no sense yes and then I know of a really successful coach who actually was interested on his own part and kind of like hey what’s up there I’d take that so I think I think it’s kind of all over the place on kind of what that comes so I I get it but if you’re really interested in the job you get this you’re going to listen you’re going to listen to them explain the entire process and go oh okay and now maybe that doesn’t make you happy but you’re at least going to get what they’re doing more than hey we’re just running off this cat that won a title two years ago so when you get called on jobs and they ask you about them this is how I used to go is like they they get me here with a like I listen to the crazy factor and they get gets me here and then what moves that bar up and down is how many how many zeros and where the commas are in the chat like the right the commas and the zeros right it’s like hey man this this job is not so bad man so you’re saying whatever Keith sells the next time he has a coaching change if that if that F first numbers are 700,000 it’s he’s a little crazy but if it gets up around 13 million suddenly he’s smartest guy in the world hey hey okay I will uh I don’t mind I don’t mind telling this nobody’s watching anyway right right so my my favorite thing my favorite one of the favorite funnies I ever had at Alabama was uh we were in a grind man and we were just it was just like it was uh like I remember it being like late January and I can’t remember if it was January 20th or 21st but that date you know was off it was like a week off the pay period is when our bonuses hit our um stuff hit and Billy Napier who’s now the head coach of Florida he goes you see both bonus and I said I did he goes it ain’t so bad around here is it I no hey is hey it’s pretty it’s hey let’s go it’s pretty good pretty good so that was a good day that was the best day best day in the building January 2021 something like that whatever it was halfway between the pay period yeah look you get resources you get overall Revenue you get a salary where it’s at like there’s not many coaches that aren’t at least gonna pick up the phone and listen to you now look they might decide that having the and I’m making up numbers here guys it’s just in the area but they might decide not having the seventh or eighth highest nil in the conference isn’t good enough and no sorry I can’t make that work but they’re at least going to take the call and listen and somebody’s going to go yeah I’m going to take your million and a half dollars and I’ll try to figure it out yeah see the argument I made is like okay you gonna make a $10 million investment in the program to bring in somebody new at minimum at minimum what if you added 10 million to the football nil which one’s better which one Chase which one’s better on the bottom line uh the the latter is better by whatever exponential Factor you would like to come up with to explain it yes you I mean look we’re already talking about old miss being a playoff Contender the whole deal right go add $10 million that payroll see what happens go add $10 million that payroll and see what happens now your culture might not work Tyler you not you might not be getting good kids that work together and you know I mean that’s long gone man that’s that’s long gone I I like that bed’s made man you just gota you just got to roll with it you gotta try to do it um it’s funny that you say that I I can’t I got a right here at the bottom of my computer I got a 12 page NDA I gotta sign but um I’m talking uh do you really have a non-disclosure oh yeah like a 12-page one really I got oh yeah so I’m doing some stuff I’m adding a couple things to our um I’m be working with some companies adding some things to our software well uh one of it’s I can’t trying to say how much I can say I haven’t signed it yet I guess I can say what I want to say um but part of what they’re doing you’re using artificial intelligence a very big company using artificial intelligence um to kind of uh dissect the character to help your and it match you up culture-wise with what you want a player out of the portal and high school really oh yes it’s some Hightech it’s it’s pretty impressive it’s way way like I was like my head was spinning I felt like I just I just uh read the uh Area 51 files after I got through after I got through doing that does any has any partner or client ever even ask you anything about having a podcast or what you say or don’t say or anything has that ever come up I’m pretty good about it I don’t I don’t uh yeah they they all watch uh I got I had I had I told Neil I had this morning I had seven texts from uh the last one we had was a coach from Tennessee uh had they you know hey where are you sending and where’s he going all that stuff and then uh had two call while I was in the while I was in the car with him and um but yeah they I’m I’m really good I I don’t uh and I get criticized on the show about it a lot they haven’t been criticizing me as much because we’re not in football season I go out of my way not to criticize coaches as much as I can um but I want to be fair at the same time so I’m pretty good about uh dancing that line you know I don’t want to um don’t want to piss anybody off obviously um but you know we we don’t uh I try to leave even even to the point of when we do our picks I try like if we ever have like there’s so many games that it’s like a quick youu team versus a quick you team I just won’t pick the game you know I I’ll you’re herb streak calling the game on ESPN like I’m I’m I’m I get criticized for it but I also um know where my my check comes from so I gotta be uh very smart in that with my business do you miss any of it I do I miss some of it um I miss uh I miss the strategy of it I miss the actual football part I don’t miss all the I don’t miss um I enjoyed recruiting but recruiting is not what I enjoyed anymore um I just got off the phone literally this morning with uh somebody one of our really good friends that I used to work with here um he’s coaching at another school in ACC and we were talking about um recruiting and how much it’s changed and it’s like frustrating because you can have kid you can recruit him and you know five years ago he would be ready to commit to you and now he just is waiting for the best offer you know and it’s it doesn’t matter how well you recruit them anymore or anything it’s just how much money you have uh it’s a fundraising contest so that part I I do not miss that um but I do miss the I missed a lot of things I miss the caderie I do that you know those were it’s weird your lifestyle changes you know um probably some something not talk about enough but you know for my whole adult life my friends are who I work with because you spend so much time together you don’t have time to meet uh people outside of work you know you’re not going to potlucks and stuff I mean it ain’t working and you don’t want to do the Christmas parties and stuff because you know like I I I I don’t care I’ll say it here but even when I was here you know when you when you had friends that were like me your wife’s friends or whoever would come over you know they would just they would want to talk to you about football the entire time and and like look there’s nobody I’m hand raised guy there’s nobody likes Talking Football more than me but I have a limit that I’m ready to you know I have a point where I like to turn it off and and it was just that part’s hard and so when I quit coaching it’s been a very unique because I still have this uh even though I’m not in it I still have to be I don’t know I I’ve I got this thing to where it’s hard for me to make friends outside of the business because I don’t want to talk football all the time MH especially in a town like this that know what I and I’m on a freaking podcast so they know what I’m doing um and so it makes it a little harder sometimes but um yeah I we I like I got we got friends in the neighborhood so I I kind of I’ve kind of I’m kind of coming around I’m I’m I’m a slow burn man I’m coming around it’s funny you say that because I mean it’s nowhere near what what you did or whatnot but I I’ll go to stuff and I’ll get interested in what somebody else does for a living and I almost feel bad about asking the questions and then I kind of stopped myself and go hey they’re all asking me sports stuff so ask whatever damn real estate question I have or like let me get in the weeds with that cat for a minute like it’s going to be all right but I I think because sometimes yeah I’m with you I I can’t turn it off I don’t really want to go down that road I almost feel bad when I’m asking somebody else a question that pertains to anything to whatever it is they do all day and and what is is their livelihood and their job and in that way so I I I get that to whatever extent that goes on and and I mean that you didn’t have confidence in yourself but I would assume your business is doing better than you probably thought when you got into it what you were hoping for yeah know it’s doing great um it’s been a adventure learning every like it’s just grown so fast and um you know we we actually went remote in March because I couldn’t as we were growing I couldn’t hire people to move to Oxford mhm it was killing me I would interview i’ I’d have somebody I wanted because my job what we do is very unique I can’t just put up a I can’t put up a an ad and just go hire somebody you kind of have to kind of like there’s people out there that kind of already know what I want to do and so I don’t have to train overtrain them just like kind of Tinker some things and it kind of will save me nine months in the training process but you couldn’t find anybody to move to Oxford then then when you get if you could find them and they get here they’re ready to leave and so I was losing good employees and it was hard to and so the second was which was funny is the second we went remote I actually hired back an employee I lost because I told him hey we’re going remote would you be yeah yeah you know so it was uh so that part I actually like it a lot better I’m more efficient uh because I don’t have 15 people coming to my office every day asking me questions all day long so um it’s actually been good for me but you know doing things like that building things from the ground up uh we built obviously a software and then an app um that has uh multiple uses um which um that’s like stage 56 of of the company but I built a software that has like multiple uses because recruiting is sales right and so in our system it can be used it’s like uh I guess kind of like a sales force I don’t know if how many of you are familiar with that but uh a way to track sales and communicate with sales and things like that that we’ll be able to transition over uh when it comes time to somebody to write the big check and me a me to go play golf all day long that’s that’s uh we got we got multiple uses for it but it’s been really good man we the uh you you know we’ve we’ve probably uh tripled our evaluation uh since we started and what we’ve been in business four years and we’ probably tripled our evaluation in four years that’s not you wish you could go back and tell what I guess maybe the day you’re pulled off the road or the day it ended I mean we should kind of go back and tell that guy hey just hang on a minute it’s going it’s going to all be all right so yeah not a not a secret my feelings about Lane kein my wife actually laughed the other day she goes you know what Lane did you a damn favor you know that like yeah yeah I will never tell him that because that would get to he would that would that he that would eat his ego up right uh but yeah he did me a favor it’s uh it’s been really good because you just didn’t know man I mean I know it sounds weird but I don’t know how to describe to you to wake up at 40 what was I so that been I was what 43 years old when we got fired 42 years old and to wake up and you don’t know how to live like a normal human like I don’t know how to describe that to anybody I mean it’s like I didn’t know what I was missing as a parent you know people take going to eat lunch with their kids and stuff at school for granted you know going to ball games you know and then my older two kids are pissed off because they see how I am with my eight-year-old and they didn’t get that yeah so then so I have to make up time that you know it’s just it’s uh I missed a lot man I mean it’s it’s it’s a whole new eye opening experience and then um of course you mean I I miss I I enjoying it all man even the even the U base drama I enjoy that too that’s kind of I enjoy like I missed all this man I missed it with the first two cuz my wife didn’t she was all you know she did it mean she was a you kind of want you you want all the cliches all the crap people talk about like give me every bit of it let let’s have it I love people coaching when I know they have no idea what they’re talking about but they’re so convincing you know I enjoy that I’m just like yeah man sell them you know I like it I like uh I like it all I like to I don’t like paying $10 every time I go to the ballpark I don’t like that that’s a that’s a racket um but Klay Richie man has got this thing figured out so somebody needs to invest in that guy he’s got it figured out he’s got the world by the balls so you go you’ve G to a lot of baseball games have you have you paid and gone to a college football game since you got out have I I’ve gone to a college football game yes have I paid no okay no it’s fine I mean that’s that’s a fair answer I was just curious just to be honest um I will I will go um I will I will go to Old Miss game with when the clients if a clients’s play an Old Miss I’ll go um and then I will I will do that and then usually once or I didn’t last year because Brock my my middle son was playing football last year he’s not this year so that’s going to free me up some but I’ll usually go to two or three uh talk Iowa State’s one of my clients I want to go to a game in Iowa State this year um Nebraska’s a client I want to go to a game out there Wisconsin’s a client I want to go I want to go you know do some travel and I going kind of like parlay it into some college trips for the kids you know um so I’m g i g try to do some of that I’m gonna go see Clemson play probably a couple times um shocker probably go see them play a couple times this year um so I’m I’m going uh I did do that when I went to go see Georgia a few times over the last couple years so um I want to go see some I want to go see I would like I could go somewhere every weekend if I wanted to I just got to figure out the travel but and when we can get to get going but it’s it’s uh it’s kind of neat but it’s also I understand what they’re doing and so I don’t want to be a burden on them does that make sense like and so uh I try to make the the trip as painless as possible kind of last couple things what are you uh what are you anticipating what are you kind of looking forward to now that Neil is already getting to the destination from here to home where’s uh where where where’s it flowing for you well we’re going to I know we expect you to join us as a guest tonight by the way we’re going to do we’re going to do a show around between midnight and 12:30 tonight live on oh okay decide uh how long he’s gonna be gone because I I imagine uh tomorrow night lur is gonna be telling asking when you get home so that’ll be he seems almost excited he seems almost excited about the train actually yeah well that that train depends on how long that train ride is I know there’s one train ride in particular that he could take that’s going to be an 18 hour train trip so we’ll see how excited he is about hour six well he’s not going to do that one though he’s not goingon to choose that yeah there there’s there’s not many options he’s gonna have to he’s going to have to pick uh that’s what that’s why I picked what I picked he’s gonna have to spend there will be a trip that he has to spend either the bus or the train that he will eventually have to spend over 18 hours in depending on what he does so it’s going to be that’s why I did it so it’ll be fun so his new departure apparently is 5:56 p.m. oh he’s pissed is he pissed I don’t know let’s see I don’t know if got text you have text he’s he’s so he’s going to straight to Alaska right he’s going to yeah he’s going to uh he’s going to Fairbanks I guess that’s what it is um he sent a thing up 37 minutes ago it said it could have been so much worse and that one has Portland at 556 but he’s not going to Portland I got I got an email that says uh I got an email that says his flight was boring to Fairbanks at e16 so that was boarding at 323 so he should maybe he’s okay all right maybe he’s all right then yeah yeah I got confused I put my email down this one I got uh so I could track his trip out there that would be yeah that would be uh he didn’t text me that his flight was delayed so he should okay maybe he’s all right maybe never mind maybe maybe we’re uh maybe we’re cool here yeah so the I’m I’m excited to see him when he when it’s daylight for 21 hours how he’s gonna handle that one I’m sure they got some there’s no you saw the hotel there’s no way they got blackout curtains no no no no no no he’s G he’s going to go get in one of those sleep masks at the Walgreens or somewhere and and and how about this cuz you know he he wakes up early you know that body clock is going to go off and it’s going to be like 3 in the morning four in the morning and the sun’s gonna be coming through at 3 o’clock yeah he’s up done he’s going have to go to Frank’s Diner and get him their their number one menu item is a where’s it at I got it right here it is a meat uh a meat lovers omelette is the number one item on the menu I’m sure he I’m sure he’s going to order that I’m sure he’ll be right on but he’s hey he’s riding first class he’s riding first class I bet he gets a nice little meal on the way out there tonight yeah yeah yeah well I’m telling you we’re going have to we’re going to have to discuss these sanctions like I I I’m the the first class thing might cost him something on the way back I I mean I’m look I’m not the judge I haven’t I haven’t been put in charge but I’m just saying if you get a first class trip on the way out there might be oh Cole says that was just his way of saying thank God he didn’t get sent to Portland my bad I did not read that correctly I got you cool so yeah yeah that’s good that’s good I was uh um that have been that would have been uh I would actually all kiding aside is everybody’s like send Neil to Portland send Neil to this that I for a brief second I thought about sending him to one of these places where there’s protesting going on all the time you know like all that and then all kidding aside I know Neil he would end up he would end up getting in a fight with somebody and pulling a Scotty sheeper and calling me like hey man I’m in I’m in I’m in jail and so I just didn’t you know I didn’t roll that there is a yeah there is a part of me that went hey let’s just keep all the complication out let’s just take him as far away as possible but let’s not let’s not let’s not put that complication in on uh on him at that uh at that point so anyway it’s it’s been fun it’s been a good day uh it has been quite Lively you guys you said are going you’re going live at some point tonight between midnight tonight you know um we’ll get it figured out um this will be this will even be like if he gets delayed this will even get funnier um and uh because if he gets the best part if he gets delayed and he gets out there I mean he may for rest I I mean I would give them at least a puncher chance but frankly State needs this one to host State’s got a weird RPI spot they actually kind of need to win Tuesday and and and hang around for a minute it State might be one of the few teams that that that has some some juice for for why they’re there why being there makes sense the rest of teams will treat like a midweek game right yeah if you get into Wednesday and Thursday I mean if you hung around I guess but I mean here’s the problem they don’t hit well enough and they don’t play enough defense I mean they’re just not good enough I mean it’s not even about mentality or anything it’s baseball baby gota have POS gotta have swag get to the plate if you go to the plate thinking I’m going to strike out guess what’s going to happen you’re going to strike out you got to have you got to have big nuts when you step in the box and and freaking grip it and rip it you got to have you got to have a little swag you can’t you can’t go out there I’m going to strike out I’m gonna hit a hit a 97 Hopper to the short stop just go out there and play man but also can have all the confidence in the world and I’m probably not striking out
