to 267 from short that’s just in time to get McKay great defense in the inning for Kentucky all starting with Vanessa nby cat side ball one Sparks to pton plot so 12 teams in the top 30 the RPI they’re 13 teams in the league all misses the other their rpi’s 44 which seems to put them right around the cut line bubble when you factor an automatic bids to the tournament 64 teams will make [Applause] it probably needs at least one win now they do have a better strength of schedule than most teams in their position but forget there could be some bid thieves in some smaller conferences where there’s going to be an at large bid if the top seat doesn’t win it so to feel safe a win maybe even two for Old Miss here maybe that’s not even enough to quite feel safe but the bottom line is they are not safe if they don’t win this game they’re not and I think that’s why as a player especially if you’re a senior you’re playing every game like it might be your last that last in the left pton PL is the first Kentucky base runner The Freshman right fielder by The Freshman with freshman friend ky’s designated player tonight low strike from the sophomore Sparks Kentucky native Hutchins was two for over the weekend at Tennesse were homers drove in [Music] five Rachel aw said about ali Hutchins that she’s one of the smartest players I’ve ever coached at this age High Praise from a coach who’s been do it for a long time has had a lot of smart softball IQ players throughout her program [Music] quickly got the nickname clutch Hutch a walkoff hit against Stanford early in the season really nice for the Kentucky resume they started the season against one of the best teams in the nation Stanford taking them down digs one out stays alive on two strikes well you made a good point because this Kentucky season has had the highs at the beginning and then some struggles in between and now they’re trying to finish strong here at the end it’s put together this NCA tournament resume with their RPI being 28 and their strength of schedule being seven they have played a challenging schedule this year left field off the territory for and the second [Music] outa Hamilton two down for Sparks the sophomore Carissa Hamilton will you think about it Kevin they have two wins against Stanford who’s in the top five top 10 and RPI at the top of the 12 they had those two WIS back in February those are big wins on K’s [Music] resume inside they’re going to make the tournament they’re not in a position where they’re going to be a host seed with the RPI of 28 so you’re playing maybe to get yourself a little bit of a better match up really you’re just playing though to play well and keep forward momentum into the tournament Kentucky can be dangerous the question for them is the pitching scon over we mentioned 268 ER the rest of the staff in the fours or fives but you just never know with a team with this kind of Talent with four seniors at the top with cell and then Watson Hutchin we’ve seen freshman with that kind of Talent break out on this stage before again any team that beat Stanford twice can go into a regional unfazed of any pitcher they’re going to face well Niger candid was one of those games she pitched one of those two games against Kentucky so they be arguably the best pitcher in the country n wins against quad one teams n and 15 takes a slow one off speed for strike from Sparks two and two nice change up there by Sparks it’s her fourth most thrown pitch out of the five she throws hard and fou away well and you mentioned too what Kentucky is playing for it’s not necessarily to grab a top eight seed or top 16 or to get into the tournament but they’re playing to be here and to feel this experience a postseason experience with the cameras and the crowd and just the overall Vibe and bigness of the SEC tournament get everybody more experience bouncing ball to short that star that’s the Inn Sparks pitching well two scoreless Lee in that tournament four complete games in the four wins that is The Shining Star for Miss the SEC tournament they’re four and 10 outside of that all time 11 SEC tournaments for Miss that’s the only one where they’ve won multiple games which again they may need to do this year to try to make it to the NCAA field Ryan star number nine hitter transfer from Syracuse the Oxford of Central New York it’s commonly called star L andone 91 and2 for the rebels Scot over is up I just like the way that this Old Miss team especially late the season has embraced playing on the road like Alyssa was talking about I think that that’s such a big part of their Story Jamie traxel said we’re battle tested we know that we have to win on the road and they’ve played in some tough places too some big stadiums they’ve gone to T&M they’ve gone to Arkansas Alabama LSU those are stadiums that have big attendance numbers at those places tough places to play I mean SEC is tough in general but especially that list right there they’re the first team to beat LSU this year LSU was the last undefeated team of the country started 24 and0 after winning the opener home to miss and the rebels won 52 and 92 in the last two games this is the worst record in the SEC the first team in the nation to beat LSU a dri by star she’ll beat the throw from Scot and a boost from Ryan star just a 163 hitter in the ninth spot Works her way on with an infield hit yeah scoot over did everything that she could a good the heartbeat of this Old Miss team maybe Jaya just a sophomore no we asked Jamie trael about her we’re GNA the big souer of the for the Longwood Lancers sitting 41 stealing 36 bases had seven triples and she’s been a terrific addition to all miss a little bit out of the Zone it’s a [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] swings she had 83 appearances in conference games this year drove in five that’s what she’s done tonight it’s a night where you have to zoom out and you have to remember what an crazy as the base is loaded down and when we to Jamie Trel about their end of the season she really felt like consistency and execution just have been coming together right at the same time here at the end of the season for her team and she referenced back to the series against Alabama they 27 Runners on base a big motivating factor to a little bit more emphasis through with those Runners on base and runners in scoring position and it’s something that you have to have in the postseason it’s something that you have to do here at this tournament to win it to make a Deep Run big chance here for Miss to bolster up their lead big pitch here for scoot over take it for strike two Junior from Valley Springs California Angelina Deon pone Smith furbush the runners in front of her on this 32 is ripped right through Scot over battles back from down 31 for atic K and her first strike 29 pitches in the first two innings for scon over got a strike on the swing there Carl gold and the pitch coach R Miss comes out Jamie trael out to talk to the infield as well Kentucky has struggled a bit this year finding dep the lineup and the eight n spots come through but Mitchell the pinch hitter at second singling her over and EM Donaldson comes on as a pinch runner for her and it’s the sparkling Smith against Sparks Two On and nobody out really Cho down at that R drop from Sparks for strike one you know one of the biggest marks for Kentucky is coming in the season was who is going to be their lead off hitter after the career that Kayla kallik had at Kentucky in that spot for four straight years wow and Riley Smith has just owned that spot and came they put her there a little bit in the middle of the but here lately she’s just owning that spot and contributing big time at the top of the order for a lot of different ways 16th Straight Lead offs 16th time that she’s let off straight for Kentucky leads him in batting average 378 lot of good chances for Eric C with runner on base and unless there’s a triple player three-run Homer Aaron Kell the alltime RBI leader at Kentucky he’s going to have some people on base one two from Sparks a bouncing ball to Second draw in dó will make the play at first so that’s essentially a sacrifice but moves the runners up to second and third for cough well and that’s what coach Lawson has liked about so much in that lead off spot just so productive with Runners on base doing what’s needed of her normally with the base open teams don’t pitch to Aaron cof this may not be a normal situation necessarily down normally Old Miss doesn’t pitch to her they did in the first inning they got C to fly out to right see the G on base percentage 44 walks and hit by 15 pitches this year [Music] I would pitch around I mean I don’t there’s no way I would give for anything to hit with first base open that’s what Miss typically does they’ve retired her five times but they have pitched around her in some form 11 11 of the 17 plate appearances a free pass they do pitch to her on Two And she demolishes it foul this B was crushed fall out I just personally feel like you’re playing with fire if you give her something to hit especially after what she did with the one swing that she’s had in the sit bat first space open you got to make somebody else beat you but Aaron C it would seem surprising if this pitch is within the same zip coat as a strike zone it is and it’s fouled away they’re going after her Sparks Fearless has worked her way to a Full Count so it is not nesby it’s Eric C thulan who’s grabbed the bat 3-2 for Kaa The all SEC Short Stop two on one out in the [Music] third when Eric cofell sees you a second time you typically do not succeed that’s the batting average we told you about all the walks and hit by pitches so she gets on base way more than half the time second time facing a starter the seventh pitch from Sparks Mitchell and Donaldson the runners one down C is not interested in Walking not chase that pitch microphones make every pop of the and every contact just so Cris and it add that to the typicalness of cof swing down he finally walks a pitch gets away M of the pl and scores Donaldson’s going to come home on the UNC throw by the catcher Brady to Sparks and Kentucky scores two runs on a walk and a wild pitch this is certainly a way to get that and this pitch happens and gets away from Brady and of course Mitchell get to score easily but it’s this error that proves to be costly for Miss Donaldson to come around a score to bring Kentucky within one just Lexi Brady just completely missed that good read by Donaldson saw that ball getks to score big there the risk you take in pitching to is that she will drive in they walk and still give up two walk wild pitch E2 and is going to come back to hit at second and one out you’ll notice about how Rachel coaches is that she moves in pinch Runners pinch hitters different situations wasn’t even on but the situation played itself out it is what it is out of theg to pinch she made the right call by bringing in Donald to pinch right that may not be an easy read for most players going two bases to score on that wild pitch well how about Mitchell coming in for reer to start off this so the pinch hitter gets a hit Runner scores a run it’s been all good in this bottom of the third for Rachel aw speed takes one just off the [Music] pl and now with a couple of runs in with a situation different she can save ER and one of the better pinch hits bigger spot later in the game two runs for each team here in the third the Old Miss Rebels Kentucky Wild in the first game [Applause] [Music] ground ball Stars got to hurry out at first got her by a couple of hairs as C moves up to third look at this clean defense by Ryan the base runner there and now Ling with two outs will they to her grace lison 13 homers 34 driven in team lead in RBI tied for the team lead in home runs it’s been a pitch around so far but you do have on Deck let a heart single her first time and has had a great freshman year so you’re not pitching around to get to a weak hit and given the on hit or given the count how careful are you if your Sparks here L has been really clutch in her career at Kentucky after she transferred over so you have to be careful here power corner to [Applause] corner and it count gone to 32 on a strike call from Smokey EDS behind the pl KY RBI leader with C at third the tying run TR told us but you know she wouldn’t give away who was starting
