these are seven habits highly effective golfers having their game every single time they step out on the golf course and I know for a fact in fact I would put on it every single go Club I have ever owned that this will slash your handicap and you’ll be down on the comments going Alex I’ve used at least five or six of these seven right they’re going to be a minute each they’re going to come at you thick and fast let’s start with number one let’s think about it this way when you’re inside s iron yardage and down so when you’ve got seven I in your hand or you’ve got eight I nine9 or wedge you never hit a full shots we’re going to think Tommy Fleetwood so we’re going to stand there we’re going to grip down a little bit so we’re going to leave roughly two fingers to the top end of our grip that’s how I would be normally we’re going to grip down slightly you’re going to find the middle of the club more often and you’re going to hit better shots we’re going to make shoulder height swings to shoulder height swings where our arm finishes across our chest so if I showed you that again it’s that to that that is what effective golfers do whenin this scoring range so this is number one on our list watch this fly look at this shot that has not left a flag the whole time mik drop boom that is exactly how we should be playing those shots that’s number one number two on our list like look at this hole the 15th water bunker trouble now now when driver isn’t your friend which can happen a lot of the time let’s be smart everyone loves their hybrid so let’s use our hybrid let’s go on this hole right now and use your hybrid get the ball in play just because you’ve got driver doesn’t mean you have to use it every single time this is what I think to hit my hybrid I tee up first thing and this is how high I Tee It just a fingertip in the air just there like a fingertip underneath ball then down that’s how do it and just treat it like an iron and if you wonder what hybrid I’m gaming I’ve gained this for about 6 years King F9 and yes it is one length it is seven high in length look at it it’s like a cheating stick I’ll be honest with you but I just trust it I trust this old Club so what I’m saying to you right here is the pros don’t hit driver all the time a little bit of strategy comes into play when driver isn’t feeling very good I’m going to aim up this right wing I’m going to keep it short of that bunker and I’m going to keep it in play just like that when you hit a bullet draw cuz you’re more confident and it flies an absolute mile absolute Happy Days that’s that tip done and dusted number three on our list I told you these are going to come at you thick and fast play with what you got and this is the best piece of advice that I was ever told if I’m honest on the golf course don’t ever try and change your swing and give yourself a lesson just play with what you got so for example right most of us slice it so here yes it is quite fraught with danger I would aim down the left and just let the gold Ball come back in I’m playing to my strengths I’m playing to something that I know rather than right now thinking oh I’m going to try and hit it straight over compensate and hit it in the rubbish so look I’m going to act like I slice this one I’m going to aim left and just put my swing on it and look how it’s just coming back into play play with what you’ve got and you’ll be more comfortable hit more Fairways lower your scores that’s that point done and dusted play with what you got no matter if it’s an iron Fair wood hybrid or driver number four on our list and this is strategy when chipping now what I mean by this is percentage of flight to roll out now I’m carrying three wedges today I’ve got my 58 this one here my 54 and my pitching wedge now think about it this way this is my 75% in the air 25% roll out club this is my 50% in the air 50% roll out club this is my 25% in the air 75% roll out club and yes I do have my dogs names on my wedges Daisy and Bernie Bernardo okay so let’s just show you these flights and don’t think about it any differently Now by all means I’m probably not going to use in this scenario right now A 75% in the air 25% roll out that’s more sort of more when I’m short sided but just to show you the flight okay so this is me playing this shot with this club so see how it’s all the way in the air and a little bit of roll out by that flag not the club we should use but I wanted to really illustrate the differences in flights now watch this one this is now my 54 this will be 550 in the air so Landing halfway 50% in the air 50% roll out oh down towards that flag and then finally my pitching wedge this is my 25% in the air 75% roll out and if I’m honest this would be the club that I would use on the golf course but what I’m doing here is I’ve got a strategy to what I’m going to do on the course I’ve got a strategy to what in the air I’ve got to what roll out I’ve got and just do it based on your clubs to help bring in shot selection this leads on to my next point but let’s see where they went they were really good shots those last two weren’t they look at where they finished now my point number five is holding out with authority now actually they finished really really close so I’m going to move them a little further away as if they were around that yardage yardage footage now effective golfers don’t miss these These are the knee knockers what we’ve got to do is play them like this find a marker I’ve got a teg in my hand Mark your golf ball and every single time line this up to the middle of the hole all you need to know on this length of put and actually on the greens that we play 95% of the time is where is the middle line it up in the middle line your put up and picture trying to get the ball to land in the middle and what I mean in the middle if we look over the ball here over the hole sorry trying to get to in here not trying to hit the back edge trying to land in the middle so it’s not touching the back Edge it’s going in at a good Pace not trickling but never touching the back Edge that’s how I’ve been told to do it for years and something that I fully trust in every single time there’s a little bit of authority use your line be confident and simply just be really effective that’s Point number five number six on our list aim and aim when it’s windy with driver I want you to use the line your golf ball to help you aim up okay let me give you an example let’s stand down here as if it was really windy let’s take the scenario if the wind was massively off our left hand side I would aim my line down that left hand side because I know I slice it a little bit I fade it a little bit I let the wind cushion it back in that’s exactly what I would do with my line and it helps me be specific to a point using a line now it’s a little bit different when that winds off your right think about it if that winds off our right this way and we are a slicer of the golf ball there’s no point aiming right cuz we’re probably going to negate it too much I would just always aim straight because you’re going to be putting that spin on the golf ball and the wind’s coming this way it’s going to like buffer it it’s going to keep it there isn’t it that’s what I need to think about if you slice it if the wind’s off your right aim straight if you draw it and the winds off your right aim for the right flip the scenario depending on what your ball flight does as your go-to shot but that is honestly my advice and when you’re walking behind your shot this is what you do little bit of a check of the eye check where it’s aiming okay I’m aiming towards that bunker walk in club down feet matching ready to go hit the shot now take a look at this shot I’m so far below the green here this is a really tough me medium length bunker shot easy I can leave this on this hill right here it’s a killer this is point number seven so let’s get into the exact way you’ve got to do it simply open the face so toe up Open Hands On and to guarantee getting out first time every time get your wide stance and just think this toe up Point The Loft back at you so practice that so it’s tow up Loft back at you and you know what I I see all the top players when they’re just waiting around they have a club in the hand just like this I want you to do this feeling the release that you’ve got so look at me here I’m toe up and I’m Loft back at me with speed we’re not driving it we’re not moving the body too much we’re letting the club swing to generate the speed just think tow up L back at you now watch these three I’ll play these three that’s why I’m this confident in playing those bunker shots oh that’s going to be quite close not a lot of sand in here is there slightly here here and then tow up feel the swing that one’s going to be really close that final one really close look where they have finished told you that last one was there close that first one must have had some juice on it and come back I reckon off the back Fringe but look effectively got the ball out first time every time in a very very simple easy way thanks so much for watching these seven habits really effective golfers have every single time they got out on play can’t wait to see you use them

Which one of these 7 is going to lower your scores the most? I reckon you’ll use more than one!
Thanks Alex..good suggestions
Thanks for these quick tips. I really need these "way to think and play" habits on the course
The passion driving this conversation is palpable, igniting flames of inspiration within.👄
Thanks, Alex. I'd like to see a video on how to adjust to the different conditions in greenside bunkers. Cheers.
I already don't hit full shots with anything shorter than PW. Will consider extending that to 7i.
Great video as always 👌🏽
It boggles my mind how much better I could be with my chipping if my grass looked like yours. Hardpan, three inch deep grass, or wet . This is what I have to deal with.
