We are talking about fittings that the golfer used weaker lofts and got more Distance,. Join us 530 eastern Monday to discuss golf club repairs, fittings and reviews
[Music] well I thought we were going to be Mrs mcolf free but just a second before this came on she said guess who’s here so I was going to say we were out without MC Mrs MC golf let’s Let it Fly I’m still going to say that let’s do [Music] that except for I just realized that you know this thing is recorded so she’ll be able to go back and see it and she’s listening so n better better plans were laid by better people so welcome back to M Golf Shop Jim mcclear here and this is what’s in my George golf talk why because old Club makers and Club Fitters are tremendous pack rats and I’m no different it’s about Golf Club repairs Golf Club reviews and golf club fittings also your scores can go low and if you would please like subscribe hit that stuff across the bottom and that way more of this information gets out to the YouTube Universe alrighty so we’ll start out with that trying to get around Miss mcgl she’s on a girls trip but she is she is chiming in remotely how about that we sound big time when we say that and you’ll see that I’ve changed color back here I thought well you know I was spinning it’s a wheel and it changes the color and I thought well let’s try it well when I look at it it’s a deep purple when I see it on my screen it looks like a pink and I was like well look at this I found me a a purple this is not pink it’s purple in here but hey it is what it is we’ll wear it proudly and we’ll just go from there all right today’s topic when we talked about weaker lofs for uh weaker lofs for better distance now that’s going to be a topic but of course we got a you know anybody watch the uh the golf tournament it looks like the F that one you know played the best golf but had a couple of stumbles and uh the guy that came up and just having a nightmarishly good round at the end and it came down to one Putt and this guy’s been putting lights out and the very last putt didn’t make it so so he won by so the other fellow won by a stroke good for good on him all right good on him uh the other person part is is that we got a lot of work done uh Mrs McGolf was pushing it in on me and we were getting it we had gotten it all done and we didn’t take the first picture so I can’t tell you all the stuff that we shipped out of here other than we did quite a bit now I also do have a new product to tell you but pardon me I do want to talk about uh just before we get moving on you guys know so this is my Russell’s Reserve sing uh single Cask yeah this weekend my youngest son and I Shane we went to Watershed Distillery and Watershed is a is the is considered the largest distiller in Ohio now that’s not saying a lot consider when you compare it against Nationwide but hey they can say they’re the largest in Ohio and what we went to you go into the tour we took a tour and not only do they make bourbon but they also make vodka and they make a a gin in fact they make two kinds of gin and uh and they also make an old-fashioned mix if you’re if you’re into that kind of stuff uh you know Columbus is a uh is a college town amongst other things so the the clear Spirits are very very welcome there uh quick inside that is their clear Spirits triple distilled that was kind of cool to be able to walk around on that that and there’s some more of that on the other side is that’s where the Burbon is made and then this is where it’s warehoused and they’re going vertical with it I thought that was kind of cool we were looking at some 2022 stuff and uh and then they also have a restaurant so we went across there and we did their three course and it was only 55 bucks is worth every penny of it and you can make fun of the my finger did not stick out when I was using the knife and the fork but uh that was a bacon uh entree Shane had some octopus which was actually quite tasty then we get back to America and I had a hamburger and some fries no I did not eat all those fries it was geez I couldn’t even once I got past the hamburger I couldn’t eat but a few and then Shane had himself a short rib was pretty good all the food was really really good one last thing and then we’ll get back into the golf They had an Apple Brandy and I don’t I I have never had Brandy before and again as most people would say it is an acquired taste well I don’t have it it was not good in my opinion uh and their first bourbon that they had was also finished in that cask and it wasn’t good either however they had some bottled and bond stuff there that was quite good and uh so we ended up taking home a bottle of that they have some others but without tasting it I’m not getting it uh it because you know room on the Shelf is getting is getting uh at a premium the other part is is that I also Mrs mcolf and I got some lights for the back in the Shelf but I have yet to install them so when I get them I’ll show you a picture okay so as far as the new product goes new product is grips let’s do it like this so you have a different view of it grips these are three of the four grips and they’re called tour Edition tour Ed tour Edition grips you look down here tour Edition grips right these are new and they’re being they’re being distributed through the nepon dealer that I deal with and what it basically it says is it’s a new tour Edition grips are crafted with a firm under layer that holds the grip secure and a top layer for a luxury feel all right and normally when you hear the words luxury and things like that uh what happens is the price goes way up that’s not the case here and and they’re made in Long Island New York I don’t know how you can’t be very pricey coming out of Long Island New York but uh it is there’s 600 cores there a a tapered grip as one can see and a wrapped grip now there is another one that is leather-like and my opinion the it is more flesh tone it’s more this color than it is leather color if you want to do leather then make it a dark brown not a light brown that way you don’t get any of those uh what shall how shall we say vulgar comments and uh but uh what it is so the feeling on this for you guys if you remember the uh Golf Pride had the one that had the velvety uh had like these and they were more velvety on the outside that’s what this one feels like it’s it’s actually it’s not sticky but it has a texture and it’s more like a uh a a I would like to say like a very very low pile velvety kind of feel but it’s not you’re not going to you’re not you’re not going to lose the grip so they come in a a powdered gray a light gray and a black and a tan so it’s something to look up if you wanted to look up more of it it’s called tour Edition grips.com so you go I don’t have it talks about wearing very good now I did put one on a golf club for me to I’m just going to go and I’m going to count the number of hits on it before I start seeing anywhere or get if I get to a 100 shots and or even 200 shots and I don’t see anywhere we’ll talk about it like that okay so weer loss for more distance I had the privilege of fitting uh two lady golfers that were shall we say uh retired or near retirement and they both had left golf at one time or another due to life and now getting back into it and that is always an issue when uh fitting any golfer when they do that because you come back with that expectation that you’re going to hit it like you did when you were 15 years younger regardless if you’re you know 15 years old 30 years old or 40 years old 15 years makes a difference and there’s going to be change and in this particular case swing speed went down and you know they were swinging in about the we’ll say 60 the driver speed was probably in the mid 60s to low 70s okay and so you got to wonder how do you maximize how do you maximize this because the Love of the Game is there right they just want to play they want to have fun and they want to hit the ball well and so that’s what and that’s what you got to do so normally what I do is I work from the ground up we work from the putter getting the irons and the wedges hybrids and Fairway woods and then the driver uh because that way it would help it helps me pick out stuff in the driver fast because I can see what kind of uh what kind of swings I’m working with and irons I want them fresh because it’s a heavier club and uh you’re going to hit those more I mean that’s just way it is man itch it’s all right always happens okay so what do we do so the idea here is well Jim if it’s stronger lofted it ought to go further well as a whole I swear as a whole that’s true until swing speed starts getting in the way you have to be able to get the ball up in the air to get those carry distances in order to maximize maximize your distance and there’s a point of diminishing return now these stronger lofted clubs you know and everybody’s got one right they’re all getting there if you can’t get in the air all you’re hoping for is is run and and now when you get into August September time frame yeah you can hit that thing and it’ll run like a scalded dog however like right now here it is in May and it’s done nothing but rain every day since we’ve been in May and I’m sure it’s like the way in a lot of other places so if you go to hit that all you see is water rooster tails and you only get about three or four yards a roll and now you’re wondering why you’re 40 yards short so the idea here is to get it in the air and carry at most of that distance that it’s running and then let it run out to that if not further so how do you do that well you do it with weaker Loft and you know we’re not talking about pounding one 300 yards that’s the we got to get into a different mindset we’re talking about hitting you know you know a 100 yard shot might be a seven iron right might be it might be more in some cases so you got to get that ball in the air right and and and so I have uh mauno has a high launch um uh and and Callaway has a high launch in their particular in their particular models I tend to go to those all right and in this case I fell into one each okay when I was doing these fittings and it became a a what it looked like and how it worked and things like that and uh and what we did is we once we decided which head that we liked and because I was what I was doing is I was even comparing against my current set of fitting clubs for for length are actually old enough that they’re pretty close they’re pretty close to my my high launch numbers in fact the uh you know because the the clubs I’m using are they’re pretty ancient as far but all I’m testing for his length and so their Loft angles are very close if not maybe oh just a hair weaker than what these the high launch ones are and so now what I know is I’m going to say okay we need to see this Market difference here between these golf clubs once we get to that point and in almost every well not in every single time these high launch clubs carried at least 20 yards further all right 20 yards and I go back to the other one and it just ends up going short because the ball is diving okay now with that you also want to consider the type of shaft um the the very first uh lady golfer that we fit she had a uh uh although it may not have been very quick she had an aggressive release okay an aggressive release and so we started with a 40 G shaft and it hit to X distance I’m not going to tell you the distance because I’m not here to embarrass anybody and then we gave her a 50 gam shaft and she hit it further and then she I gave her a 60 gram shaft and she hit it further and straighter we went to thought about 70 and I gave it to her and said up too heavy we’re done I said Okay that was good enough so the difference in using that same head with these different shafts uh was again a whole another club so not only is that not just the weaker Loft makes it better but the proper Shaft or the proper swing now for the second lady golfer her swing was a little bit more rhythmic or even smoother as the case may be and and she was an easygoing releaser and Callaway actually has a very very fine lady shaft in a Mitsubishi I think it’s called ELO e l d IO and it’s a 40 G shaft and it’s white with some uh we’ll call it Paisley decorations in blue and it worked out because she was a Kentucky fan so I mean it all lined up really cool for that and and she hit the living snot out of that stuff she just started hit because everything was a fade because she was using older clubs they were very heavy and as soon as we lighten them up her her smoother swing went right with it and out they go and they hit it very very far now the real issue when you get all these really nice yardage gains is when you get to the driver and you’re looking at it and there there are times when you hit the driver poorly and you hit these irons very very well because I’m talking six irons or even four hybrids that they could challenge the driver for Supremacy in the back and and so you really have to get a little bit better so the uh the second golfer had a really big down angle um a down angle into the club and so I I started her with a low low setting in the t height just so that the swing would change ever so slightly then we started raising it up and then once I did that oh once I did that then I went to a 12 degree and I cranked it up even more and when I did that immediately the ball started flying further now we tested against her driver which was which was literally the same Loft at that point and uh we beat the driver using the the Paradigm club we we beat the driver by easily another 15 to 20 yards so there we go so not only did we do it with that but we also did it with the with the putter uh we we fit them into different Putters uh made them and turns out they both excellent Putters and got them into something that actually fit them and they were more comfortable over the top of the Putter and away we go all righty so hopefully that helps oh so tomorrow we’re going to be releasing a video and it’s going to be on I have the biggest itch right here and there’s nothing there oh there got you now that should get it so let’s see this nope okay it’s not moving anyway tomorrow releasing a video and it’s about I need your guys’s help on deciding which iron I’m going to put in my bag I will just leave it at that which iron am I going to put in my bag I’m showing I’m going to show you some data and how each one of these irons are made at least in my opinion and then we’re going to talk about uh which one to put in the bag okay let’s get started oh I see Mrs mcul is already in here man she’s all she’s all there okay Matt revlock shot a 38 and nine holes round and a 75 and 18 nice all right let me do this there we go as a club fitter how will these new putter shafts change the industry in the next few years well Matt in my opinion like everything in the way of Technology if it if it is a sound technology and it does show that people are going to putt better with these newer shafts it’s going to find its way into a stock offering in a putter now some of these putter prices are pretty high lofted and if they’re going to want them to get into that spot they’re going to have to figure out a way to make them not that expensive and as like anything in technology they always find a way to do what we always call in the Navy smaller lighter cheaper and they could do that and uh when they get to doing that or somebody is going to come out and be able to shortcut all these folks and and come very very close Okay and then those guys and then they’ll find it and then it will become the new standard because if these heads keep getting bigger and heavier in order to be more stable at one point the shafts got a change to meet with the rest of the club and we’re seeing it you know with the Resurgence of some of the older golfers that are going to you we’ll use lab as an example and they’re using those low torque shafts and their putting their putting has come back to where they were when they were half their age so that’s what I [Music] think juwel wants to know what’s my thought on three-wood shaft in drivers well the only time I would even consider that juwel is if you were some sort of gorilla like swinger all right you’d have to have the the three-wood a true three-wood shaft all right there’s not very many out there that are truly made meaning that this manufacturer right here and this manufacturer right here are only two of maybe three that I’m aware of that actually make a true toli fairway wood shaft all right and if you did that the the shaft would feel 40 I guess would be the way to way to describe it it would feel more boardy it would probably come out more stiff uh at at the same length uh could you make it because if they come 44 45 you could probably get to the original length that’s not a problem uh but that’s where it’s at so pardon me what they do is of course the three-wood head is much smaller right it’s not like this it’s like this and it’s much heavier by easily anywhere 15 to 20 gram starting out and then it just keeps getting heavier as you go down the as you go down the thing you know 3579 anyway anyway the uh and so it probably would not act like a driver shaft now if you get somebody who’s trimmed a driver shaft to go in that to be like a three-wood shaft and put it in what you would find is it might play just a a hair more firmer but as a feel it would typically be the same all right Mr John and he’s in Myrtle Beach looking forward to the topic very good thank you sir there’s Christ from Sweden I saw you swinging I saw another couple of uh Instagrams where you were outside now Sweden looks all kinds of spring like [Music] congratulations are you sure one of these new putter shafts I don’t know Mr Matt talking to Christ how are the clubs new clubs working for you we would like to know that all right John Cherry lab arm loock is one shaft you would recommend over the others and why well if you’re going to go with that direction John and I looked at the offerings and I just I what I did is I got the Acra one I got the Acra because it’s the low torque it’s proprietary to lab I tried to get one for me they said no and and use that now the reason why I did was because it didn’t seem to be extraordinarily heavy uh like some of those can get and it uh it made the putter balance out very very well that’s the reason why I like that one and it did and if you look I don’t think it was the it and bang for the buck it wasn’t the most expensive alrighty hi Charlie no just asking about them the gamer Jim picked is still in the bag very cool there’s Jim and ramen hello Charlie yes stick with what works I agree Mr Walker how are you sir glad to see you on my home course open today been playing round so far 78 8477 well only one small hick up there Christ the rest of them that’s pretty solid for getting out there the first time around good job alrighty everything in the back works because of Jim and Robin well thank you Matt oh let’s see Matt says the volume is low is it is it still low Matt I’m trying to look I’ve got everything let’s see what this says and micro yep that’s good there one more setting to check out here Yeti microphone it should be sounding pretty decent based on my feedback I got here alrighty Myrtle Beach there’s Mr Peter how are you sir 76 with 53 putts woo you were on fire sir except for the putting well done the clubs are working fine according to Christ after 76 and 77 I’d have to agree D those clubs will come around to you yep I fully suspect we’re going to hear some 74s and and onward once he gets those gets out gets to play Outdoors a little bit more Charlie wants to know if Peter if Peter’s son took the putter too along with him good question alrighty great rounds five three putts still not too bad oh Phil K bad news Austin city courses have to redo several greens something killed them should be back by August temporary green starting next week oh wow well at least they stayed open normally what they do is they’ll just cut a patch off to the side and cut it really low and try and maintain as best they can hopefully it comes back man but you know you’re right the best part you could be into is that you’re into the growing season right now so that’s the best way to get it back alrighty first round for the season made an eagle nice 27 yards six iron resulting in one foot putt for Eagle almost did an eagle today same hole after a 305 drive and a 1749 iron those are outstanding distances Christ those are that’s massive and well done well done from Stephen what do you say buddy we’re freeborough Tennessee shot an 81 then turned around and had five doubles and finished with an 88 on Sunday yeah you got to love golf well you know what that was kind of the theme all this weekend long and Monday was was going out like the guy that was you know the guy that won the tournament virtually all the other dude had to do was make a putt and they were playing off and as it turns out he couldn’t make the Putt and this was a guy that shut some record round for himself on the back nine there you thought he had the momentum at the 18th apparently not so much which in reality um it came down to some drives apparently the guy did not put himself I mean let’s face it uh from what I was listening to I was listening to it on the way up to Columbus that the that the guy on the 18th he was just it it was a Ser this guy was striping everything to the 18th and then all of a sudden a an average drive out of bounds a second shot that didn’t make the green that could have a second chip that really wasn’t a very good chip you know and so I think basically what that was was uh probably getting close to winning Jitters maybe that’s a fact I agree Gary Pritchard I’m a PJ Pro from leads well thank you for staying up so late Gary appreciate that I just left my head pro job to start a new club repair Venture learned so much off your videos please keep them please keep them coming well Gary I’m glad that you’re able to do that very good for you uh that was very cool well if you have a particular topic that you’re looking for let me know and see if we can turn it into a video and see because it might help some other folks and then uh okay let’s do that Jack from Lumbard what do you say buddy it is very is it nice up there right now I’m looking at very overcast skies I should have had it pointed that way but uh not today all right Frank Onie howdy from Cleveland nice according to the golf work super stroke acquired Lampkin oo really now that’s a buy I doubt the lamp I didn’t think the lampin boys would even allow that to happen so that’s got to make you wonder whether or not lampin was selling very good or super stroke was doing that good I thought I didn’t even think super stroke I mean they do good they both do but I didn’t think that and super stroke was having a just an absolute tear as far as uh making grips goes but I thought they slowed down but wow that’s different okay fact I just got on the WRX today for the very first time in forever man okay Peter says Charles sad thing is I did bring my putter my son wasn’t interested in my lab putter the problem was distance was great distance was great but had a little issue on Direction ah there’s Robin talking she’s made it in I don’t know Robin you at the uh are you at the cabin yeah Charlie asked me how three hers are hard to take ask me how I know uh I’m on that page Charlie I know what you mean there all right RSG from St Louis the Gateway to the West you are correct sir I was one I was one of 20 million watching the derby on Saturday hope you all use some of that bourbon to make mint julips for the race well we did not I’m not a big mint julip guy but if you guys were W I don’t know if they covered it but you know of course Woodford Reserve has a horse theme and they do a lot of uh sponsoring or they use you know Woodford Reserve and Kentucky Derby almost go hand inand and uh because it was the 150th race they had some what they called Thrice filtered or Thrice cast uh Woodford Reserve and it was going for some crazy amount of money because there’s only a limited amount of them I think maybe only 150 I don’t know and they wanted something like $155,000 for a bottle and I’m sure there was a handful of folks over there that bought it but gee many Christmas but anyway they’re talking the reason why I’m saying all this is that they had a recipe for a $5,000 mint jewet good luck with that [Music] one all right Dave’s in the house Robin’s talking to everybody there Steven says hope you enjoy your time here all this week we’re expecting storms here in Middle Tennessee well they are in their neck of the woods too John lamb Charlie Bartholomew you three putt are a mutter under your breath oh three putts are a mutter under your breath while walking back to the cart of golf unfortunately had a dig up a heavier Putter and the greens are so slow this early ah okay yeah I have yet to get out I tell you right now I was going to try it yesterday because it was actually nice during the day uh and I just I had there was so much stuff going on still after Miss ml left and in order to get you know video editing and all this other stuff and it got to the point I thought you know I might sneak out and then all of a sudden time catches me and I’m like NOP better not and uh drove up to Columbus instead but one day this one day I will get out and play golf ain’t that the truth no doubt golf addict hello everyone from Vulcan Canada all right or is it volcane Canada all right very cool John saying good day from Calgary hope you guys are dry where we’re starting on thir day rain of rain here H you know I’m starting to get tired of that stuff too man I agree with you R saying she’s imp pinging Forge and it’s thundering now well so far you know I saw some pictures and it was blue sky so they’ve been they’ve been okay so far has one and a half day of rain forecasted Charles interested in your three putt story I’d rather have my back teeth pulled with no novocaine in a lot of cases that’s a fact golf addict says shot a great round of 72 well good job with a par of 70 you are the man what I’m trying to look and see what that is is that a badge you know I’ve had just about enough of you shouldn’t lock up there alrighty do you play the courses in Calgary I don’t know we’ll find out that would definitely hurt reminds me of when I was in the Navy under the dentist and had to impacted wisdom tooth well try getting try getting a boot camp and they find out you’re a Submariner Charlie I’m surprised that you even had a wisdom tooth left for it to get impacted I was in they said submarine Duty out they go and I had all four of them pulled in one shot by a couple of dentist texts called Tom and Jerry yeah for real not anymore usually try to get out 100 whoa Wahoo 140 160 rounds that’s a man getting out there now we usually have an Iron Man turns at the end of the season up here if you want to see some frustration with putting just play one pins are placed in impossible positions oh I’ve seen those we call that we call that the greens Keepers Revenge round and they put those things in such ridiculous places it’s it’s just pure luck if it goes and you literally got to bang it into the back of the cup there’s no finesse [Music] involved was Porton starboard watch station and Doc was giving me Darin w we how much could you see there you’re like Jonathan Weaver your opinion Guy brought us two wind light grips to install for him offbrand first one on went fine the second one the insides ripped and can’t get on he bought another one at he had he brought another one do we owe him a discount on the install well if I’m looking at it so what we what we do is if if people bring us a grip we do charge them an install price and if and and if you take on the job Jonathan if you take on the job then that means that you’re willing to take on the risk that goes with that job and so if you do something like that you have to be prepared to maybe take a little bit off on that on that first one because the I would say you know the because when you do off Brands right when you do off Brands the quality is is certainly not going to be as good as the original like a win and even winds have a tendency to rip but uh that’s far and few between so if you make and and this might be one what you call a learning monent Jonathan is that if somebody brings you an offbrand to put on you can say okay here’s the deal this is like they’re doing the bin thing right when you do the bin thing you I say it’s the I broke it you bought it policy now the same thing could be said on grips uh if you bring me a a less known or a less quality grip that if it rips that’s on you not me because you take all the Time in the World to do it but if you did not do that in the very beginning then yeah maybe so however I know Mrs mcgoff is watching and she is the grip olist for mcgl she puts on for far more than I do let’s see what she has to say hadle for mine dug out in Saigon many many years ago doc gave me penicillin and found out I was allergic to it was not memorable experience wo that’s a tough one golf addict got the burnard mini driver at 13 I love it especially off the Fairway well that’s got to be that’s got to be one hell of a fairway wood I mean J that that’s like the perfect Fairway Wood we used to call those [Music] thrivers by the way I installed a reduced taper grip on a driver feels good I’ll test drive tomorrow I reduce taper oh we like those here Frank the low tapers or call them LTS or whatever that’s uh that’s almost a standard here uh they’re on my clubs they they go on a lot of people’s clubs oh John we finally got into Port doc sent me to dentl the dentist use what felt like a crowbar to take that wisdom tooth oh we yeah well they they I wondered why there was these platforms on the side of the on the side of the chair Charlie it was for the guy to put his knees on as he straddled me and literally when you know when when dads were saying hey I got these pair of pliers I can pull them out well that’s what they used and they pulled him out all right John lamb golf attic have two buds who play them they took big dogs out of their bags they smoke them so well oh okay cool fitting on Friday for Jake well you are more than welcome sir I glad I hope you really really enjoyed it it was a lot of [Music] fun Christ says 78 had four three putts well there you are buddy you get trimmed out this the beginning of the year 78 I’d say is extraordinarily respectable and you take that out all of a sudden that’s a 75 right so not bad J I came a driver into Bag degrees burner mini is 13 17 so he’s got it in there so he’s got all the weapons there we go will daro there’s a new name okay has iron and Driver technology hit an ASM toote point if we keep experiencing linear progression every manufacturer will be saying drivers will be going 300s in two to three years well that’s the old well that’s the old adage right we used to say say if we go to the PGA show and we go to the first we go to the first manufacturer and they say gain 10 yards cool then I go to the next guy gain 10 more yards cool now I’m up to 20 by the time I’ve gained 50 yards by adding all these 10 10 10 10 10 however that’s a neat little that’s a neat description however that’s not what it’s meant to be doing that’s just a that’s just a story to put together to fight the idea of exactly what you just asked me uh can people hit 300 uh 300 yard drivers now the answer is yeah right however uh I think you can get away with a just a slightly slightly lower swing speed than you did before in order to reach that but you still have to make extraordinarily good contact with the ball that’s number one having a good contact with the quality of hit smash Factor whatever you want to call it uh now are when they have limits on size when they have limits on height and depth or the ratio between there eventually you got to wonder what’s next right because there’s just only a point where it gets there so how I describe this to people when we talk about clubs and when they should buy and that kind of thing number one one before the Advent of a computer what they used to do is for an iron or a driver somebody would would make a model and they would mail it over to the manufacturer typically that was overseas and most likely in Asia or Japan and and then they would make a mockup of it they would tool it out they would make a model or two or three they would send them back and then the players would test them they would look at them would measure them they would weigh them and they would send their changes back over across the water this is all mailing right so you’re talking a week just to mail it and then for them to look at it and that was another couple of weeks and then another couple of weeks after that to Tool up and make whatever changes that were required to be made so we’re talking a process that could take several several several months in order just to make an iron or a driver and and so that’s the reason why turnaround times were uh were very long and the the distances between marked technology improvements were for a driver well for irons were probably six to 10 years and in drivers they were just shy of that they were probably uh 4 to8 maybe 5 to8 eight years now introduce a computer CAD drawings 3D simulations being able to measure the more information you put in the better you are you could email something instantly they could put it into a 3D printer or even better yet they put it into a a cad milling machine and they Mill it which actually made them be able to make their own models over here in the US so now these very long transit times these four three four months that kind of stuff turn into weeks and not just a several but only maybe a couple of weeks and you could turn out uh you know maybe instead of six months seven months and a month you might be able to make an iron or a driver and one that works well and then you’re you’re on your way so what happens technology leaps got smaller and what happened was instead of 6 to 10 years you may have went from 4 to 6 or maybe even 3 to 5 in an iron and in drivers got even shorter you might even be two to three now those are on technology leaps okay now the the next thing you got to wonder is is that technology leap good for you they could have made a a movable weight that had absolutely no bearing on how you hit a golf club they could have made the a thin uh face driver what I mean thin but not very tall uh and you like a a taller driver and so that doesn’t help you out at all there until one day years later they come up with this big tallac driver that is just what you’re looking for all the technology blah blah blah in it and it’s been three to four years you might be able to get away with that right it just depends on where you’re at in your golfing career so uh where are we at now you know I I got to go back to you know let’s use Callaway as an example they have ai they’ve been using AI for the last what three models at a bare minimum and I believe the iron distances have improved and the control has improved and it’s not until this year with the changes of the way they changed the face is their directional control has improved but I don’t see any market gains you know small market gains in distance now I happen to have let’s see where that bad boy’s at see if I can move it around uh oh here it is okay is they they give you a little model and they say this is what you can use and these you see how this is where your biggest gains are at and that’s in the heel and the toe and that’s not over that’s over your normal shot all right your normal shot not a not a a down the- middle shot it’s over your normal shot but they’re even claiming that if you hit in the middle you’re looking at seven yards I I’m I’m with you on this at one point in the world they’re GNA eventually what’s going to happen is they’re going to just say well maybe one or two yards or something along that lines the the technology I’m just waiting for the technology that they get out there you know maybe they’ll make a 410 driver out of a 410 shell or something who knows Will Wilson make the ball zip Beyond 2024 I don’t know will Milson make the zip ball be 24 they they have not told me anything about the golf ball although I will say I do like the staff ball I do like the duo ball and I do like the Triad ball those three have been very very good the zip ball I don’t know uh although I do have I have a scheduled I’m scheduling a a conversation with them so maybe I’ll if I remember I’ll ask them Jake Wilson says if you’re in Ohio please visit M golf what a great experience well thank you Jake I appreciate that there is a there is Golf and then there is tournament golf and you would not be lying there we go Ron Hellwig and Hershey PA I’ve actually been there uh thoughts on the mby sti2 for a 20 handicap or swing about 80 84 7 goes about 130 score Shaft or an MP Pro Series uh the STI uh the STI iron I tested the left-handed ones the left-handed ones are different than the right-handed ones and I there actually I have the STI I had the STI driver in the shop I’m trying to think if I had it over there I’d pull it up and show people uh the STI driver for a A plus handicapper for sure it’d be it’d be a very nice sha it’d be a very nice club uh and 80 to 84 so personally I would go with the mpf the mpf is a much better shaft if you’re just looking to make a Quality quality iron or quality driver quality Iron let’s put it that way that quality Iron uh out of this stuff that Golf Works puts out then I would use the pro series it’s a much much better shaft now the other one is is that if you’re 130 with a seven iron you’re going to want to get into a no more than a regular Flex make sure you pick out the right weight yes yes I do Charlie yes I do oh that’s a lot of bottles brother that is a lot of bottles in fact I I I I thought I would uh I thought I would never I wouldn’t bring this up but it is for a good cause so I I stumbled onto a website called the Kentucky elk and outdoor festival and what it is it’s a festival that’s pure job is to raise money to help support kids to realize outdoor activities now we’re in Kentucky and we’re in Bown so you know there’s going to be hunting fishing that kind of stuff but they’re talking about building uh structures complexes so that they can uh teach these kids at a young age how to do it correctly and I think that’s a worthwhile Endeavor no matter where they’re at let alone Kentucky and in this one the local distillers are giving up a barrel of whiskey and you will bring down some folks to do a Barrel pick and then they will bottle it for you and you just got to get it home the whole barrel and each entry is $25 a piece and enter as many times you wish but that’s where you can get to so I told you I didn’t think I was going to do it but there it is he’s already said it Charlie if we had $115,000 to spend on that I think I’d need a whole room I think I maybe I get a bar maybe just set up a video shop in the bar that would be cool oh that’s what she said look at that we’re on the same same thing David what do you say buddy how are you Sunny ve got back from Myrtle Beach a week ago Saturday had a little cardiac event a week a what he got a stint spent a few days in the hospital well good for you everybody knowing got a stint needs to kind of take it easy after you know several weeks after getting that bad boy in there so that it stays so hopefully you’re going to do that bud get well yeah it’s a badge I was a correction officer for 33 years at a supermax prison W dude if you made 33 years and you were in there and you didn’t come out some level of warped you are my hero we have a Maximum Security Prison down here in in Lucasville and you got to wonder man that you gota you got to be a right-minded individual to get in there so congrats Charlie’s telling thumbs up for this live stream guys and gals please do please do tell your friends let’s get some uh more subscribers in here just getting back into playing golf after health issues and my swing speed has dropped more than just a little what’s your opinion on Neo zos uh it’s either that or it’s graphite for me so Gary don’t let don’t let the don’t let graphite dissuade you because I you know I can give you a graphite shaft you couldn’t bring around okay they get upwards of 100 115 grams now but they’re very very stiff and very very boardy it’s for a certain golfer just like lightweight ones are for other golfers and the zelos I like all right it’s for a smoother swing speed and they’re sitting like right over here uh uh they they got the there’s a 75 gram shaft and 85 gram shaft and again they’re for very smooth swingers if you’re anywhere if you’re a very very aggressive individual when you swing then I would not recommend those because they’re not made for you I would go something a little more beefier maybe even a uh like a a Neo shaft if you wanted to stay steel if you wanted graphite uh they make a 50 gr pretty sure the there’s a vrtx that club makers use it’s from uh it’s from Project X and they make a 50 gram and that might work very very well for you Gabriel he’s 510 and have a 97 mph Club 7 oh okay should I go extra stiff if yes what weight I have 15 15 then it go okay so was 68 times about one 2 and A2 so 7140 180 so you’re pretty good pretty in shape kid 97 is right at the very 97 would be at the very top of the stiff range Gabriel uh should I go extra stiff if no I don’t know if you necessarily need it depends again on your swing speed it to tell you that you need this would be a disservice to you by me okay what you need to know is what we need to know is again like I was harping before is are you an aggressive swinger are you quick in your Tempo are you late in your release or are you opposite of those things the 105 if you’re a quick Tempo let’s just keep it simple if you’re a quick Tempo 105 is probably not where you want to be I would probably put you in the 120s uh in order for you to feel because right quick you want to be bring it you got to find it in your swing and bring it back now if you’re a little more rhythmic right a 105 could be just fine or even a 115 for that matter could be just fine uh and what you might want to do depending on the club that you would go with what would might help you since you’re on that cusp is depending on the golf club that you use you could go and let’s just say for instance it’s titlist or it’s a taper tipped uh iron even mauno for that matter and you could go get the 105 Dynamic gold stiff and you could hard step it and you might find yourself in the perfect spot okay feral creep I had on a hybrid it’s just the smallest amount barely noticeable any suggestions other than a redo uh uh well you could try and push it back in there John so what I my very first when I get this uh is uh is I got a clamp I got the uh uh you could probably use you get put it in a rubber clamp and what I try I don’t clamp it down as hard I just get in so it slide and I try to push the feral back on without anything and I try to push it back on normally n times out of 10 you’re good uh if you need a little bit extra help then what you just a little I’d heat it up just ever so slightly 5 10 seconds tops A little dab of Super Glue and try it again and make sure you can get it you don’t want to get so hot because if you push it you could mush it push it you can mush it that’s pretty cool uh and then so that’s what you want to do there right uh and after that you also what I would do JN is I would check the alignment with your grip and make sure it’s not the head right and maybe it’s turned a little bit one way or to another or measure the length and make sure it’s the right length uh make sure you know ever so slightly but try those first two hit it with a little bit of heat try to push it back on uh what is the difference between 120 shaft with a D1 swing weight and a 105 with a 15 G head and D4 well you just hit it the uh the 120 g shaft with D1 probably will feel a truckload more balanced where the 105 will feel massively head heavy that’d probably be the biggest difference Mark wants to know Jim when you do resf for a customer does that include adding the new grip or do you charge a grip fee and a reshaft fee I charge a grip fee and a reshaft fee because you are putting a grip on it and those don’t come for free man and that’s a whole another service that’s what we do there you go I left the jumbo grip on the driver usually just a bit a butter cut took them off the rest of the bag good for you there’s Robin telling what we do there’s Lawrence what do you say man hi all been playing with a three-wood off the te he kept my scoring in low 40s I’ve been wondering about how to do it with a mini driver off the tea well a lot of guys on here particularly the Canadians are the uh they’re digging on that mini burner man it’ probably be the same exact thing just maybe a little bit more forgiving honestly I wouldn’t change anything you might be able as I I’ve only seen two pictures uh you might actually be able to te it just a hair higher just got him love it there you go that’s the one Jarhead happy Monday to you all Jarhead and Louisiana have a bourbon on me we will try very much I’m officially done and it’s my one and done for the night and that’s it Jake Wilson we will be visiting we all we we will all be visiting M golf you heard he’s putting on a tournament you won’t be visiting here man if I’m if I’m doing it we’re going to go we’re going to go south I don’t know where but we’d go south have to arrange it with Peter and see what see we can do about getting a course there for a day glad you all are doing well thank you Andrew same to you sir have you ever had someone with a very steep angle of attack constantly break graphite shafts very much so uh normally what happened was is they break them while they’re hitting on mats the other part is is when they go very deep they break it when they’re bringing across and they nor Al hit it off their back and they round whack and that’s when it normally happens uh so I you know you got to that’s just part and partial breaking you know so we don’t warrant you know we don’t warrantee bad golf swings we warrantee the club and if you broke it because you’re taking a a 9- foot divot before the ball I can’t stop that and graphite is the most susceptible to that you know steel and even steel can break if you had like the zelos like we were talking earlier and uh those would be susceptible to that very same thing you could crunch them in a second they’re not made for that kind of aggression so you have to be very very careful now if you have a very very steep angle of attack I will tell you this if you have a very steep angle of attack chances are that you probably need a shorter Club because very steep angle of attacks typically come with vertical swings not always but most and if you got this vertical swing uh you probably need a shorter club and it’s coming down like cats and dogs so there you go miss mcgl you can feel good it’s raining here that would one big shelf for that Barrel you better believe it man but if if they’re going to empty it for me I’m going to take the barrel we’ll make something out of it to hold maybe I’ll make a golf club holder out of of it all right thanks for turning me on to bot purchase rocks glass and pint glass American flag rocks EJ pint glass really enjoy them you are more than welcome sir they do good work I like those folks they’re very very kind people and they do a lot of good work and they use a lot of veterans to do their work I’d say what did he do they’re they’re probably 80% or better in the veteran hiring and if you go back far enough and you look in their feed uh they had a really really really really good year and they only maybe had 20 employees and the owner of the company took them all out to a gun range to they gave them you know some of them knew how to shoot Firearms some did not and and got them all trained up on this safe use of firearms and then uh and got him working got it very well and then bought him each uh a hand gun I thought that you know what that’s pretty cool yep and they got they even had and the the the specialities that you can do with that are very cool I’m told they got now one with an anchor in it for those of us those of us were they floaters or sinkers uh that would be very cool my dog Rex says thumbs up all you guys appreciate that sir this is a new one Buddhist Taiwan ah I got it Buddhist Taiwan all right thank you sir there’s Jason I’ve used hot water to heat ferals on older clubs that have crept up and slid slightly back there’s another one you hello there Scott Jackson we got some new names on here guys I appreciate you coming in make sure please that you’ve hit those subscribe button and the like button do you have any experience with best grip leather putter grips if so any tips or is it straightforward I do not know what you’re talking about uh let’s find out here real quick let’s see if I can find it real fast if not then we’ll have to just go on best grips putter how about if we actually spell putter correctly leather grips best made by best grips okay I like leather grips I actually do let’s see what they look like oh no okay these are very much like the uh the Australian grips as well no it’s very so it’s uh Scott they’re very straightforward you use this solvent method would get you in there very quick now I will say if you have a uh I like the look of these guys they’re pretty cool they have a brown and they have a or they have a tan and they have a black I don’t if they have any more but oh there’s an Augusta one that’s green okay so what you want to be careful about is the only thing I I’ll warn you on is uh don’t be sloppy with the with the grip solvent okay don’t be sloppy with the grip solvent and what I mean by that is fill it up shake it around that’s all good and dandy slide it on but normally what I would do after that is I would dip my towel in the grip solvent and wipe it off to get all the junk and stuff off the rubber grip you do not and I repeat do not want to do that with a leather grip go get you a paper towel or something else with just hot water and just wipe it off gently and I mean gently wipe it off gently and just set it down and let it dry when you’re all done you’ll have a nice firm tacky grip have you shot with the zelos and really liked it really think it will suit my S never been an aggressive fortunately there you go getting shcks on four combo set will let you know now there you go that’s a good one that’s a very good combo I like those all righty everybody’s saying hello hello hello hello hello hello happy to help out in any way well there we go Peter’s on board you can use those barrels for your golf clubs after you drank all of its content dude you know how long that would take holy cow you know that it’s a 53 gallon volume and it’s not full all the way obviously but it’s got at least 50 gallons holy cow they said it’s about you know it’s 35 cases and there’s six cases in all it’s around 200 bottles I tell if I won that we might have to have a a MC golf Lottery MC golf Lottery there we go boy that would send me into a whole bourbon channel would it oh my god there you go a bourbon Channel yeah now we’re talking Jerry Wilson have a Japanese whiskey to try tinju okay I tell you what some of them I’ve had a few Jerry I’ve had a few and what I have found is they’re very young and uh and when they’re very young they’re very hot and when they’re very hot I don’t like them but the uh you know they’ve had that monkey shoulder I’ve got some monkey shoulder upstairs I’ll give it it’s okay as a daily Drinker maybe but I wouldn’t go any further than that the rest of them I don’t know too much about them other than they exist and they were actually tracing after Scotch more than they were bourbon Branson my makeshift burner mini is a rogue Triple Diamond LS head on a 4455 G spin shaft will raise the Loft angle to 11 thoughts well you you kind of Lawrence not to give you not to bust your bubble or anything but the Rog trip triple diamond is a very very very very tall face with very little it’s got a really very small Sole and it’s not made to really contact the turf uh and at 44 in you’re probably pretty close uh it’s going to be extraordinarily unforgiving and the Hazardous mint spin shaft that’s a that’s a nice shaft to be sure and you can get out there but it’s still going to you’re going to hit a low burner because that’s the way that that thing is made the the center of gravity is very very close to the face and when that happens the the ball flight is lower than say it’s counterpart in the ls model or the normal one so uh if you’re comparing it to the mini burner no uh you can I I’m not going to say don’t try it because you might find a you might find a real weapon but we’re talking about the mini burner that’s like this big around right it’s about this big around and the driver you’re talking about is like that big around it’s a little bit different looking I was always thinking of fan fancy hairdyer yep that’s always it what happened there get out of here that was silly I don’t even know what made it do that Gary one thanks for your hitting the good night oh look at that she’s going to go what she really means is she’s going to go get a drink oh oh just off the te then yeah I’m good with that that would be a heck of a weapon off the te just a few hundred yards from Glenn Mor oh gez really Glenn Mori I like that they got a couple I’ve got a I’ve had a couple of their bottles in the uh uh the one that was finished in another cast that was really nice and then there’s the was it the Kur kurin kurin I think is what they call it the kururin that one was really nice too Glenn manangi man that’s for couple hundred yards holy cow that wouldd be awesome Jerry Wilson you know you know what now you know how we feel here in the Deep South we are building an arc I’m telling you what dude this rain is just becoming and you got to mow because if you don’t mow it’d be like mowing a jungle and then there comes all the skeers then nobody wants all that because I’m heing the mountains and Lyme disease is a re is a real thing out here so you got to you got to either go down you either got to spread the you got to spread the poison or you got to go mow get to swing clubs in July no doubt so it’s not all right well if I see it may I’ll pick some of that up very cool all right guys well we’ve made it all the way down to the bottom and we made it all the way around the world we talked to the UK we talked to Canada we talked all over the United States very cool and we talked a lot of good information hopefully he took something home with you again do not do not forget to like And subscribe and don’t forget about the video tomorrow and uh I mean and I again I really really thank the fact that we’re be able to carry on these conversations and as you as always guys let’s see your scores go low

Over Summer in my home, Brisbane Australia, there is no run. The fairway is too soft. My driver flies 250 metres and stops 18 inches from where it hits the ground. In winter, we dry up and I get another 50 metres because the ground is rock hard.
Hi Jim. I'm getting a full set of Wishon EQ1-NX. I wonder of you have any advice on how to mix the hybrids with the fairway woods. I hit plenty long enough with a smooth swing late release. 39.5 inches from wrist to ground.
I am a low spin player with a hook low left as a miss thanks to an aggressive move turning over the ball. I have discovered recently, after testing a mini driver that outperformed my 9 degree full length driver, that increasing my lofts across the board has immensely benefitted my game. I play a 12 degree Wilson Dynapower Carbon set to 11 degrees at 44.5” in length and have had my best driving season so far. I also swapped my 3 wood with a 5 wood and included a 4 hybrid instead of a 3 hybrid and I open the faces. I bent my D9 forged irons 2 degrees flat and 3 degrees weaker and now my low left miss is much better as my carry distances are more consistent.
The hybrids are made to be the same length the fed are made to be about an inch longer
