live golf star Taylor gu has made it very evident he has no intentions of trying to qualify for the last two men’s majors of the year I’m Ryan baly with golf Newsnet Taylor guch has become a little bit of a lightning rod on live golf with his comments made over the last couple of years including likening a Liv golf atmosphere to the Ryder Cup even though he never played in the Ryder Cup and saying that potentially a master’s win could have an asterisk on it if players like himself from Li golf weren’t included in the tournament in Augusta National he’s in the field for the PGA Championship in a few weeks time at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville Kentucky and he’s going to get an invite from the PJ of America to compete however he’s not in the US Open or the Open Championship the final two men’s majors of the year in June and July now what he could do though is go through qualifying for both processes for both tournaments he could get into them very easily because of his professional status and play his way into both of those major championships and he was asked ahead of the Liv golf Singapore event this week along with a couple of his other live golf Patriots Jason kokra and Graham mcdal whether he would try to qualify for either of those tournaments through their open qualifying process and Taylor G was very evident very very clear in a short span of words saying quote I’m not end quote he has no intentions of trying to go through the US Open qualifying process through the USGA in which he would get to the sectional level as his status in the professional game would afford him that or final open qualifying for the Open Championship he’s not going to try either one of those for their part Jason kokra and Grant mcdal both said they would try to qualify for both tournaments kokra said he would play in the US Open finals SL sectional qualifying in Columbus and then he would try for open qualifying for the what colloquially is known as the British Open in Manchester England Grant mcdal said the same he’s entered qualifiers for both and intends to play in them this is really the best way and predominant way for live golf players to get into these two major championships because there is no Pathway to the US Open or the open championships specifically for live golfers and because of their lack of earning official World Golf Ranking points they can’t get in through those criteria either which means really their best chance is to either win a major championship like some of their compatriots have or to get it in through open qualifying Taylor G doesn’t feel like doing any of that
