now happy to be joined on the phone by Harland County’s Trent Noah state champion finalist and now the newest commitment to Kentucky basketball Trent first of all congratulations on uh your decision yesterday and talk to me about how you ended up deciding to uh become a wild cat uh thank you thank you I appreciate it um I mean I mean it’s it’s Kentucky basketball what can you say I mean growing up from from Kentucky and being a Kentucky kid that’s just something that you always dream of and um whenever whenever the opportunity came about I mean there’s just no way in the world that that I could even even think about passing it up so just just the honor to uh for my name to even be mention with with Kentucky basketball and and the pride that comes with Kentucky basketball and being a Kentucky kid it it was just a no-brainer decision for me so talk walk me through when Mark Pope gets hired do you at that point think to yourself oh man I’m watching this system play this is the kind of thing I could play in like how did your mindset go and wh did it start when Pope got [Music] hired um well I mean there there was a lot of a lot of factors that that went into it I mean um uh I mean South Carolina hand handled it very well whenever uh my my NL release and stuff like that but um yeah I mean there was just a lot of things that went into it and it’s just crazy how it all works out and I’m just I just kind of took took a leap and took a chance and um just God ended me up at at Kentucky and I just couldn’t be more grateful for it you know when when you guys were playing in the state tournament uh during during the semi-finals and finals I walked over to the Harland County Section and everybody I talked to was like man we got to get this kid to Kentucky what can you do to get this kid to Kentucky I said well I can’t do anything to get him to Kentucky but I know know where you’re from everybody there has to be excited and you got to be excited about that am I right yes sir I mean for sure I mean just just waking up this morning and and putting on a UK sweatshirt it it just it was really just just a special moment knowing that that that’s where I’m going to be and walking into school um and just seeing everybody in Kentucky blue with with their gear on it it it really is just special it it’s kind of hard to even put into words but um there there’s something special about Eastern Kentucky and and and about Harland County that um that’ll definitely be carried to Kentucky basketball already more than what it is see I love that that’s great and uh have you ever had Poke Salad uh you know we’ve been there a number of times for the festival have you ever actually eaten it I’ve never actually eaten it I’ve been there a time or two though smart man stay away from it it’s good what are you talking about um all right so talk to me about you know you played in the finals against Travis Perry in Lion County I know you know the guy now you’re gonna play on the same team tell me about your relationship with him yeah I mean Travis he’s an exceptional guy and he comes from an exceptional family so uh we we played together some this summer and then um we got to compete compete against each other in the state finals but uh the good thing is I mean I we was talking and it’s just now that we’re on the same side we’re we’re working toward that same goal we’re trying to hang number nine together and um to finally be be on the same team it it it really is special that’s that’s one of the first people that that I texted after and I was just super I’m just super excited to to get to work with him you know I’m a fellow 13th regioner down there and we the last player we had from the 13th region was Richie and then there was a huge gap and you had Reed and those are two kind of legendary guys I mean Richie farmer and Reed Shepard those are two of the best high school players both Kentucky players how does it feel to be kind of next in that line yeah it really it’s super humbling and it’s awesome to to even be mentioned in the realm of those guys because they’re they’re exceptional exceptional uh talents and and just what Reed what Reed did last year it it was just it was just super cool super cool to see and um just just what what he’s done for for the state of Kentucky and um just being from from Kentucky how how he went in year one as a freshman and contributed was was just amazing to see and I I just couldn’t be more happy for him I’m going to ask you to do something uh you know I you mentioned Harland is is special and I agree with you about that I think there’s probably not many more places that are more Eastern Kentucky than harand there’s a lot of this this state that’s listening that doesn’t know anything about Harland so if you were to describe Harland to the people all around the state what would you say man I I talk about Harlem for a while but if I if I if I had to sum it all up I would say it’s full of the most passionate passionate people they’re just the the love that that they show me and and our and even our high school team this year and the love that they show Kentucky Sports and Kentucky basketball they’re they’re just as passionate as they come have you ever seen a person that has better hair than your teammate the the guard there with that long hair that’s the best hair I’ve ever seen in my life I’m going to be honest with you yeah he need he needs some kind of like Head and Shoulders uh commercial or something like Troy palalo or something you think he’s gonna keep that forever because it’s what’s when he plays it just would flow did it ever get in your face did you ever run into it accidentally Garden him and practice maybe a time or two he’s he’s had to gotten immune to it or something he just he just kind of I I guess he just sees right through it it it’s it’s something else though I’ll finish with this when you talk to Mark Pope a lot of fans are very excited for the passion of him as a coach and I can hear you saying a lot of the same things he says what do you think Kentucky fans and you what we’re gonna get now with the new coach Mark Pope yeah I mean coach Pope he’s he’s an exceptional exceptional Guy and um he’s he’s an exceptional coach on top of that and I I just know that um Kentucky fans already love him but whenever whenever the season comes around they’re going to love him even more it’s just it’s just something about um he knows the Kentucky way and um me being from Kentucky I’ve I’ve grown up around Kentucky we’ve had uh football season tickets for 62 years now in our family so I mean just growing up around you’ve had football season tickets for 62 years you’re family yes sir we we’ve been going we’ve been going a while now wow that’s amazing well I have to tell you at the state tournament the Campbell County game and the Evangel Christian game were you know as good of performances as people who been going have seen with you it’s very exciting for all of us that you’re coming good luck and we will see you here in Lexington soon yes sir I appreciate it I can’t wait till get down to campus there you go Trent Noah the university uh from Harland County going to the University of Kentucky appreciate

So awesome Cal would have never.
Trent you will very well at Ky. It will be a lot of fun watching you grow
Now that there's room for walk-ons that aren't the spawns of Calipari's rich friends. We HAVE to get Trent's long-haired teammate on the roster!!!!!!
Stay hungry
Welcome home, Trent! GO BBN!
So well spoken. I love having kids that want to be here because they Love Kentucky Basketball!! Cannot wait for this season to start!
Welcome young man 💙💙
You will never leave Harlen alive
💙💙💙💙WELCOME HOME TRENT NOAH💙💙💙💙
Live the dream Trent…live the dream
I am excited for what Coach Pope is going to accomplish at UK. He's off to great start in my book. Love it that he's getting home grown , UK loving kids to play. Kids that want to hang banners and understand what it means to go down in Kentucky history. . All these other teams over the past 20 years how many names does anyone avtually remember ????? Especially during the Calioari era !
#GOBIGBLUENATION 💙💙💪💯☝️, WELCOME HOME Noah 💙💙💯☝️
Wasn't he originally committed to sound Carolina
Kids like that should always have a spot on the roster. When they're an afterthought and having to go to an in conference rival like SC you know we've went down the wrong path. The world just seems right today.
AWESOME 😎 LETS GOOOOO CATS 🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Go Cats
The best part about bringing in all these boys who was born and bred in Kentucky means they understand the pride we Kentuckians have in our basketball community
Love it! And you can hear his passion for UK. That's what has been missing from the players with one exception, Reed. So happy for Trent. Can't wait to see him in Blue. Go Big Blue #1BBN
i hope coach pope keeps bringing our boys home, they are not only good enough, they deserve this chance. GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
Pride of Harlan County finna drop a 30 piece in starkville I’m calling it
love it! The stars aligned and got another Kentucky kid to live his dream…. Good on South Carolina for letting it happen as well, they could have made it difficult for him
Lets go Trent!!!!! Glad u decommitted from coach paris at usc. Great young coach, lamont is. But you made smart decession, son. You got a opportunity to b a Kentucky legend!!!! Play smart, play fast, trust your instincts, the hours you spent on the court, and when open LET HER FLY SON!!!!!!
GO BIG BLUE!!!
This is exactly what our program has been missing.
Amen!
Welcome home Trent!!!
Welcome home Trent!
Definitely a different approach and attitude for this program going forward. I will be quite the culture shift and something much of this fan base has craved.
Thanks , for bleeding blue..Go Cats 🏀🏆
Having taken a short rest after years of calling for Cal to leave, it's time to weigh my big mouth in. Mark is doing exactly what Cal should have been doing all along. It's a joy to see these young passionate Kentucky high school players getting the opportunity to wear the Blue. Cal said he would take talent over experience every time. Cal was clueless. There is a thing called morale. I think we will see a return to players who take pride in the uniform leaving it all on the floor every night. Some of my favorite Kentucky teams didn't win it all but they sure gave it everything they had. That 92 team is one of my special favorites. If Mark is as good a coach as I suspect he might be, we'll see new banners soon. But these kids who were born and bred in the Bluegrass will be a joy to watch as they grow into the and leave their own marks on the pages of Wildcat history.
I'm Harlan and Ssid they offer him He signs Cuz Here n harlan Fie hard KY Fans
great work, mario.
I love that he said the first person he texted was Travis Perry! Can't wait to watch these homegrown kids in blue 💙
Welcome home to BBN young man!! 💙💙💙
As someone originally from Harlan County, he is right, everybody is so proud of Noah…and, we all definitely love our UK Sports!! 💙🏀💙🏈💙⚾️💙
Love seeing home grown talent staying home. As soon as Coach Pope landed in Lexington i bet this kid knew he had to do whatever to get here.
