e hi sorry I’m late today um was just running got my hair colored we’re still pretty wet I hope everyone’s having a good day um it is gorgeous here it’s warming up and um I missed a golf event last night but I’m excited it’s finally time to start playing regularly and so I want to introduce you today to my friend Lindsay we actually had to um pre-record so let me just pull it up here um one second if you’re here please throw um a comment in so we can see you or talk to you and let’s see here we go this is my interview with my girlfriend Lindsay she owns um birdie girl Golf and I’m so excited to introduce you here you go well thanks for joining me um um it was really exciting to see you in person I’ve only seen your posts and things online I know you too thank you so much for organizing all this oh my gosh not no um so um I did want to go through the questions quick because I know you have to pick someone up from school and then that way we can um move on if we have more time but um so can you tell me where birdie girl golf came from yeah so um I was I played golf all my life I was a division one golfer and kind of moved into the corporate world for a long time um so I’m a full-time french fry marketer oh wow and yeah and I live in Idaho and um I you know I’ve just found like golf kind of open has opened doors for my career many times and I’m a big gift giver and I love to give gifts to girlfriends and I just just didn’t really find anything out there that was unique that I could give to a girlfriend as a gift um you know clothing can be difficult as a gift right so I wanted like I wanted you know an accessory type item and so I started out with a necklace um a ball marker necklace and didn’t realize there really was a market for ball markers in general and so so did you find it somewhere or did you design it or how did you how did you get to the ball marker I love the ball marker necklace like I just think that’s so cool I I’m always sticking tees in my hair and I’m like when I saw it on your website I was like oh my God it’s just so easy yeah um so a ball marker necklace definitely exists I just didn’t feel like there was one in my style that I preferred um so I decided to make one very similar to some like trendy jewelry out there yes and um that was actually really hard to find a supplier to be able to make high enough quality one and I had a few issues when I first launched and that was hard I worked through it um but finally at a place where I’m really proud of that product and then I kind of moved on to the hair tie which is my favorite but that’s your favorite yeah yeah so anyways I started it two years ago um and just kind of it it kept growing and I’m in my corporate job I’ve been a product developer and kind of knew how that worked and just keep creating things and spending I love job so much um I I have to add though um can you tell me about how you got to be an inventor then I mean because the PGA show had you come exhibit this last show right yes they did um that was was that was really fun so last summer I was at the water park with my kids and I just like when I have free time my mind tends to like Spiral into new ideas and I like all of a sudden was like why don’t I make a ball marker hair tie just thought of it so I said oh well it could be like one of those cuffs that you have find that you you know you used to have where you put in a ponytail so I worked with one of my suppliers to design it and um they were really popular and I and then I was sent an invite to the PGA show inventors competition someone said oh this would be a really good fit for you I kind of was like I haven’t invented anything and then I remembered that I did a hair tie I love it that’s so cool that’s the best story yeah so you and I got connected through our the Marketing Group that we work with but and then when I got on your website because you know I’ve met a couple people through the group and you know not the product isn’t always the same and then I got on your website and I was like oh my God I love all of this it’s so it’s so cute oh that’s so nice to hear thank you you’re welcome it’s just it’s it’s I’m excited for you then I loved watching you go to that show um what was it like down in Florida um it was amazing I mean it was exhausting and just I I wasn’t really prepared for all the leads I would get which really challenging um and you know there was some things I would have done differently but I met so many incredible other uh female companies so many buyers that I work with now and um there’s a lot of things I wish I would have known but it was definitely worth it yeah I like I had like 20 minutes of like trying to figure out how I would move all this stuff down there and then I was like I’m not ready for that but um I have done a trade show I used to make bridal before the golf apparel and that first trade show I just remember being like I had no idea I thought I knew what I was walking into but I did not it was it was a lot yeah it was my mom and I and my uh brother is a is a director of golf at a golf course in Vegas so he was there too but I would have brought more people if I know well I’ll help you next time oh um so wait I’m trying there were a couple of other questions I just wanted to get to um so what do you love about running your own business so as I mentioned I’m a corporate french fry marketer and for a pretty large company so I have guard rails on what I can do yeah and sometimes that’s the most frustrating part of my job so I love to be creative and kind of Paving my own way I love love the connections that I’ve met through my business just some incredible women and other business owners um so I would say just kind of the dayt day seems hard but it’s so rewarding when you start to see results how is it fitting you know I know you’re going to a school pickup and your full-time job I mean how is this juggling going is it like are you are you just 90 hour weeks I mean how do you do how do you keep up with all of this yeah I would that’s a problem um yes I work a lot and so I’m leaving my corporate job in a couple weeks oh amazing oh my gosh congratulations just in time for the golf season you can really take advantage yeah I’m excited it’s built itself up over on the other um thank you so much for coming sorry that’s like some crazy technical stuff that I G to cut out of this live video but um I did just want to let anyone know who’s watching live that um we’re gonna be carrying some of Lindsay’s awesome ball
