Man shot during arrest on Belle Isle

Police have revealed some information about a shooting that happened Monday on Belle Isle. Shots were fired around 10:40 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, on the island.

a quiet morning on Bell Isle turned
quickly dangerous after shots were fired
shortly after 10:30 yeah the gunfire
involved a Wayne County Sheriff’s deput
and a suspect who officers say was an
absconder from parole Victor Williams
was on the scene just minutes after a
police responded tell us about the
conditions of the people involved

man is right now in serious condition
all of this taking place of course after
they tracked this man over to the island
thanks to the tether that had on the
entire
time I seen maybe up to 8 to 10 cars at
separate times coming down Jefferson and
turning on to the baow bridge they had
the side rings I seen them in the mirror
I just got over several people like Otis
Patterson were caught off guard with the
news that an officer involved shooting
took place on bellal this is video from
a victim being rushed to the hospital
was bad when anybody get shot Deputy
Scott Gotti says the only reason they
were tracing the suspect
who was a defendant on a criminal sexual
conduct charge in the first place was
because of him missing Court the
officers located uh the subject in a
swampy wooded area adjacent to the golf
course officers say it happened quickly
but deputies had no choice but to subdue
the victim after he popped up with the
gun as the officers approached uh the
subject stood up pointed a what appears
to be a 9mm long gun at the officers uh
the officers fired in defense for
anybody to be hurt shot or nothing or
something like that that’s a bad
thing and it’s unclear if this man will
be okay but once again he is in serious
condition this entire thing just remains
under investigation Victor williamsc so
Victor we mentioned that this is a Wayne
County Sheriff’s deputy that was
involved in this case is it still Wayne
County’s
case no MSP is completely taking over
