and now you got a guy who I think can
come in and be a legitim one on a lot of
teams of Roman Dooms a big smooth almost
like a basketball player out there and
it’s going to win one-on-one match up
the Jets were on the clock they have
traded wow on this 2024 NFL draft
to Minnesota was allegedly going to move
up to get a quarterback is what
everybody was thinking the Minnesota
Vikings who just traded up one spot by
giving up 129 and 157 to the New York
Jets
the Jets will be on the clock after this
pick is announced guess who JJ McCarthy
goes to the Minnesota Vikings it feels
like this been chatted about since the
combine even beforehand they’re not
going to be able to pay Kirk if they pay
Justin Jefferson Kirk’s going to leave
we’re going to look at a younger
quarterback JJ McCarthy is inevitably
the guy that they trade up one spot to
grab former hockey player winner another
guy out of IMG Academy bill bich yeah
again two number one picks for IMG
Academy I mean that’s this is like uh
you know Alabama turn them out this is
unbelievable but uh you know again
there’s a lot to like part of
IMG I’m just
saying you should get something when you
look at their High School what the what
coach Miller has done down there in the
last six years it’s unbelievable um but
anyway there’s a lot to like about
McCarthy I mean this gets tough he’s a
great leader uh you know he’s an alpha
guy players love him his teammates love
him and he makes a lot of good decisions
you know he really helps your team I
think he’ll work well with uh uh you
know with the Vikings and you know I
think uh you know coach mconnell do a
great job with him and and he’s got some
good players to work with especially you
know Jefferson so whenever you think
about JJ McCarthy’s future and he
watched the film what do we see what do
we like what do we not like and what is
Kevin oconnell going to be able to kind
of make better and take advantage of a
guy who’s had success with damn near any
quarterback you put in his offensive
system let’s go to the yeah here he is I
mean there’s not much to not like about
McCarthy I mean one thing is the
question is his weight you know he he
weigh in at 202 and then 219 you know
he’s somewhere in there you know we’d
like him at 219 not 202 but again this
guy’s got a quick release he can get the
ball out he reads coverage as well he’s
just got a lot more experience than uh
and they huddled up too coach is that a
big deal like I know Nick sa was talking
about playing him they actually huddled
and did all that and that his defense
was not used to seeing it and and he
plays under Center you know he isn’t in
a shotgun all the time so he can handle
under Center he can handle the play
action passes turn his back to the
quarterback uh but here he is getting
the ball out quick this if you run back
for a second foxy uh this is um see foxy
so this is chop Robinson coming off the
edge here and look at how quick McCarthy
gets the ball out here I mean to get it
out and have a complete and have a 10
yard gain when it when he ends
essentially unblocked like that’s pretty
good uh he has good ball security I I
know he had the two pick sixes against
TCU in a championship game uh but I
would say overall like this guy it’s
third and 10 you know he’s going to
protect the team he’s not looking to
turn the ball over and and say his ball
security all down the field right there
this is a second and 10 play again
another quick throw now it’s third and
one third and two get back on track
those plays help your offense you know
again taking a profit you know every
play is not going to be an 80 yard
touchdown you know he’s he’s good to
make good completions good solid plays
here he throws on the run you know puts
the ball right on the money good solid
10 12 yard gain like you need those
plays in the NFL now if you want to run
the ball with this guy he’s a good
runner and he’s tough so here he’s
athletic yeah here’s the sweep you know
he does a nice job of reading the hole
here you know and and this is really uh
a good run game decision so sarpio uh
you know he’s reading the the rotation
coming down to the right side here and
so instead of handing the ball off or to
the left side rather instead of handing
the ball off here you know he sees Isaac
take it pulls the ball down and then
again good solid run he just makes good
decisions fourth and one this is really
a good play you know they run the the
little roll out here and everybody’s
covered he’s got nobody to throw to he’s
six seven yards behind the line of
scrimmage got to get the first down and
makes a good run I’m not saying this
guy’s a better Runner than Jaden Daniels
but he just makes good decisions and is
definitely good enough um here’s another
second and uh second down play where he
you know he’s got to read the defensive
end and the rotation on the
top U sorry on yeah at the top of the
screen here here pulls the ball and out
runs Isaac Edge burn out gets a first
down
so you know these are the ones you want
him to hit here he’s got the crossing
pattern uh should throw the over route
and still he tries to you know get on
the field to that flag that’s you know
he got no chance on again there’s things
for him to work on too but overall this
this kid is a he makes a lot of good
football plays yeah I think what we like
about JJ here is he’s also a winner you
know as you go through it I think he’s
only lost like one game he beat the hell
out of Ohio State and obviously uh
there’s been a lot of down times in the
state of Ohio because what JJ McCarthy
and Jim Harbaugh did towards them the
last three years wins a national
championship played hockey growing up
this the type of guy that you would love
to see leading the program agj yeah he’s
the guy that I you feel like the players
love him we saw him we were out there
we’re watching him he’s meditating
before the game under the goal post
what’s going on here the GU Barefoot
doing all this I like it I’m into all
that I think it’s pretty cool the guys
like old School mentality old school
toughness with some new age you know I I
think mindfulness and seems like he uh
he loves his teammates as well and takes
care of the ball like bill says yeah I
absolutely love JJ McCarthy Pat you
mentioned he’s a winner
27-1 uh you know often times we don’t
talk about that listen if you win in
college granted there’s a there’s a
decent chance that you’re going to have
the requisite skills to go win in the
NFL but I am curious coach when you look
at a guy like JJ McCarthy obviously
played a bunch in college do you think
he’s going into Minnesota and he’s going
to be the guy who’s going to going to
start from the Geto obviously they
signed Sam darnold a guy who you
basically ripped his soul out of his
body yeah exactly he saw ghost because
of you um is that is that a situation
where they’re expecting JJ McCarthy to
come in and start right away you know I
can’t speak for Coach oconnell I would
just say for me I would start him when I
think he’s ready if that’s week one it’s
week one if it’s midseason it’s
mid-season I think as a coach when you
feel like he’s ready that’s when you put
him in if you put them in too early you
don’t want to have to take them out
after week four or week five you want to
wait till you know this is it this is
our guy we’re going with him all the way
and he’s ready enough to play at
whatever point that is it might be after
the second preseason game I don’t know
but I I think with that position what
you don’t want to do is you’re in you’re
out you’re in you’re out once he’s ready
you put him in then you just got to live
with it might be a couple bad you know
rough spots in there but you’re going to
stay with them going into a great
situation too you mentioned k see one
with a ton of different quarterbacks
they lost they didn’t do so great in
those close games but him coming in with
Justin Jefferson who we think they’re
going to resign probably the best
receiver in the league and then Jordan
Addison who had a great rookie year as
well and going to continue to uh you
know create separations so I think he’s
going into a good situation whenever he
does get that start definitely five
quarterbacks have been taken in the top
10 picks damn five all offense now yeah
and to chalk offense 19 is the number
the most amount of offensive players
that have been drafted in one first
round I think it was a 2021 or 2022
everybody had predicted that this year
would go over the six quarterbacks in
the first remember Michael penx was only
like minus 130 a week ago to go into
first round JJ McCarthy was having
chatter about maybe he was the fourth
quarterback instead he finds a perfect
home in my eyes in Minnesota yeah

Leave it the Vikings (lifelong fan since 63’) to have the worst kick in this draft! Year in and year out they prove they have ZERO ability to evaluate talent!
Cant believe Falcons passed on JJ. JJ will be the next Brady.
Take a guy and put him in and out of the starting lineup is what he did to Mac Jones all season man😂. I agree with him but did he forget what he did😂😂😂😂
Everyone has connected him to us prior to the draft, he wanted to play for us. I kind of think he will win a couple of superbowls now.
J.J to JJ is gon be wild
🗑️
The irony of bill says that you don’t want to start and then pull a young QB is hilarious
4th place the next few years for vikings, bad qb pick in McCarthy,
If McCarthy doesn't win Rookie Of The Year and take the Vikings to the playoffs with that offense he's been gifted, then hes a bigger QB bust than Ryan Leaf. MI fans have been crowing about him being generational and some even think hes QB1 in this draft. Well now hes in a better position than any other rookie QB as far as proven NFL talent to work with, so its gonna be no excuses. Lets see if JJ can live up to the hype.
Too many guys on set. Pat, AJ, and Bill would be perfect.
NGL, Bill is good at this color analysis stuff. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I’ve never seen bill talk this much
haha weight 202-219 dependent on if he drinks a 30 rack on saturday night
6:50 I like bill Bellichek more now. but he full contridicts himself with what he did to mac jones lololol!!
you got 5 people on a panel with the GOAT, why? appears to be a waste of money cause them other 5 add little to no value
He's gotta call up Jefferson n build chemistry right now way before camp imo😁 Yup I agree Minnesota was the right place for him to go
"Hes an alpha guy" I love it
Let's not give IMG Academy too much credit. The best players in the country are seeking them out and going there. It's not like they're developing them from early on
McCarthy ain't him.
Great to see Bill doing this. He's coached too long and knows too much to sit around waiting for somebody to call
JJ kinda reminded me of Mac Jones.
Pro ready, but a lower ceiling than the other prospects.
Completely average college QB with a stacked team. He's not going to be "great"….Vikings hope he's going to be ok.
JJ is Bill's type in a QB. Has all the traits that he looks for at this position.
Like em or not Championship Rings are all that matter.
Somehow Belichek sounds more positive on JJ than on Drake..
Bill knows more about football than everyone in the nfl his break downs are the best he's the only coach I know is respected by everyone.
Never seen bill so friendly
Surprised they glossed over his best attribute. The handoff. Nobody serves us the rock like JJ. Thats why his nickname is "The Chef".
A pitch here a counter there, just let JJ cook.
Wrong DJ Turner at the 1:17 mark. I stared at that screen for a minute trying to remember if the Raiders had really picked WR DJ Turner in the 2nd round of the draft 2023. Honestly, the way we usually draft, I wouldn't have been too surprised lol
What am i missing? He played for a qb guru head coach, and the game plan never involved scoring points. Why would you try to win games 20-14 if you had a qb that could light it up? Every other guy drafted in round 1 had to carry their team.
