hi everyone this is Allan true Midwest
recruiting analyst and thanks for
joining us on the 247 Sports YouTube
channel for a special event as we have
the commitment of fourstar quarterback
Ryan Montgomery of Finley Ohio he is
standing by at his high school ready to
announce his college choice but first
we’re going to set the stage Ryan is a
top 247 Prospect number 173 overall in
the country a top 12 quarterback in the
class number eight in the very talented
state of Ohio 6’3 215 lbs and a foure
going to be a four-year starter at
Finley a record setting quarterback at
that high school and there have been
some pretty good quarterbacks that have
come through Finley including a guy
named Ben rothberger who you may have
heard of Ryan and Ben have spent some
time throwing together and through his
four-year career which actually started
uh the recruiting process before he got
to high school Ryan has accumulated 27
scholarship offers Michigan actually
offered him in the summer
after 8th grade going into his nth grade
year and since then he’s been recruited
by schools from around the country but
has brought those choices down to a
final three a trio of SEC programs
Florida Georgia and South Carolina he
has visited each of those programs semi-
recently been to them multiple times and
is now ready to tell us which of those
three will end up getting this very very
talented quarterback so with that we
will now go live out to Finley Ohio
Finley High School where Ryan his family
and his athletic director and a gym full
of people there to support him are
standing by we’re tremendously proud of
Lian and his teammates and are looking
forward to still seeing more of his
accomplishments and the
tro we know who
represent say a few words to make an
announcement

coaches that have recruited me and built
relationships with me and my family
throughout this process
there are so many others to than that I
want to than that have been important to
me in my life so thank you all for
that so with that being said for the
next three to five years I will be
committed to the University
of wait hold up hold on
Georgia go
dogs Ryan congratulations uh I had some
planned questions for you but I got
throw the script out first and
ask to family friends and
teammates you will be a always be
a
congratulations at this time CBS will
now ask Ryan question
moment Ryan Ryan you got me yes sir I’m
gonna Veer Off Script for a moment
because I had prepared questions but I
have to ask about the bulldog who is the
Bulldog where did you get the bulldog
yeah so we actually got it from a guy in
town um he was he was willing to take to
give his Bulldog here and to um bring
him here and just let me use it as my
announcement and I’m definitely thankful
for that so it was pretty cool I want to
do something a little different so I I
mentioned that you got a college offer
going into your ninth grade year so
you’ve been going through this process
for a long time how would you describe
the recruiting process and when did you
kind of know that it would be Georgia
yeah this process has it’s been a very
long process obviously a huge blessing
overall um I know not everybody gets
these opportunities and I definitely
will take that for granted but um yeah
it’s been a long process been pretty
crazy a lot of ups and downs and twists
and turns but um I couldn’t be more
thrilled um for where I am today and
what were the I know there more than one
reason that you chose Georgia what are
some of the primary reasons that you
felt comfortable with that being your
picks yes so I CH I chose Georgia um
obviously they’re the standard in
college football now um you know
everybody’s trying to be where they’re
at um development is second to none at a
place like Georgia um definitely QB
specifically as well um and stability
was also a big part of my decision I
know coach smart coach boo they’re not
going anywhere um so and there’s so many
other parts that contributed to my
decision to pick the University of
Georgia I know you’re very tight-knit
family as evidenced by your family all
the siblings behind you one in
particular uh playing at Ohio State
right now Georgia and Ohio State met in
a playoff game not too long ago so what
happens if that happens again in a year
or two oh that’s that’s gonna be pretty
crazy um I could not imagine what um
what would be going through my parents
Minds if that happened that would be
super crazy um but you know at the end
of the day go Bulldogs Georgia we’re
going to win that game
last question for you tell me you’re
going to be a midyear en rolly just what
are your expectations for when you get
there and Beyond what can Bulldog fans
expect from Ryan
montgomer yeah I mean they can expect
somebody that’s just gonna grind and
work each and every day um somebody that
gonna come in each and every day um I’m
not going to be outw worked um I’m just
gonna come in there and compete and
compete against the best each and every
single day so um that’s what they’re
going to get out of
me well Ryan we appreciate you
announcing with us today good luck in
your senior season and then beyond that
at Georgia and congratulations once
again on the commitment yes sir thank
you Mr
true well there you have it Ryan
Montgomery is a member of the Georgia
Bulldogs class and the quarterback in
this class now so they get a top 247
Prospect in that class and to talk more
about what this means for Georgia and
for the rest of this recruiting cycle
for them we now bring in Benjamin wal
from our Georgia affiliate Ben uh super
for7 I should mention that even though
it’s plastered all over your background
so people can see that but first uh I
Ryan has his official visit scheduled to
Georgia I understand that’s going to be
an important weekend so how is that
weekend coming together and how is
having the quarterback and the class fit
into that Ryan was initially scheduled
to be on his official visit to Georgia
at the end of June but he actually moved
that up in light of him making his
decision to commit to Georgia to May
31st to June 2nd and that’s notable just
because that’s really the official visit
weekend that Georgia has built its
recruiting classes around the last two
cycles I mean a majority of Georgia’s
classes have been built through that
opening weekend of the June official
visit window and having Ryan in the
class on that weekend is going to be
huge being able to sell the face the
quarterback of the class that Ryan will
now assume that role I mean there’s
going to be a bunch of other big-time
guys that weekend like five-star
linebackers Zen Walker four-star
offensive lineman Juan Gaston Nick
Brooks and a couple of the top receivers
that Georgia would like to build its
class around Ryan as
well yeah let’s go specifically there to
that receiver’s position because I’m
sure he’s going to help recruit uh some
of these receivers to town as well and
there is a new receivers coach at
Georgia so how is that coming together
and who are some of the top targets that
they would want to pair with Ryan
Montgomery at that receiver position
well just based on the current options
available and the potential departures
at the end of the 2024 season I think
it’s you know Georgia’s options are
definitely there and I think think that
you know last cycle they only took two
wide receivers I think you could be
looking at four plus in the 2025 class
just because of what numbers are looking
like and there’s a trio of instate
standouts at wide receiver all four
stars CJ Wy Travis Smith Jr and Thomas
Black Shear I think that Georgia would
be really happy with any or all of those
three wide receivers and when you’re
looking out of the state I mean georg’s
been trending for a few guys at various
points at different levels throughout
the course of the spring ton Taylor from
Geneva Illinois Eugene Jr from the
Indianapolis area Javin bogs and Tyler
Williams from Florida so there’s
definitely options for James Coley as
they try and figure out their wide
receiver board to build around Ryan
Montgomery and I think there’s a chance
for Georgia to make a couple surprise
splashes in this class I mean a couple
guys out west like Derek Meadows from
Las Vegas Marcus Harris Philip Bell from
California all of those guys are going
to take official visits to Georgia and I
think now that you have ryant Montgomery
in the fold Georgia can leverage having
that quarterback in the class and it’s
going to help with really any and all of
those receivers that I named and who
knows maybe even some names that I
didn’t so quarterback recruiting there’s
always interesting dominoes to follow
nationally and there’s been that
certainly with Georgia the last couple
of Seasons I don’t want to bring up old
hurtful things that happened but Dylan
Rolo was once committed how has the
quarterback room sort of changed and the
recruiting changed over the last two
cycles here to where we are today to get
this commitment from Ryan Montgomery
into the Georgia class I think that’s
the it’s a great question I think that’s
the fascinating part of this whole story
because it this wasn’t a slam dunk
situation for either side throughout the
course of the process I mean you go way
back when when his relationship first
started with Georgia that was through
then offensive coordinator Todd monin
and that’s where his relationship was
and you know when monin left for the NFL
and Mike Bobo took over as offensive
coordinator relationships don’t just
happen overnight it’s not you know it’s
not something that’s just you snap your
finger and all of a sudden the
relationships are there and it helped
that bobo was already on staff so there
was some familiarity there but it
certainly took time and you know Ryan
always mentioned Georgia as a a
potential favorite for him but I think
through the offensive coordinator change
I think to make matters even more
interesting it wasn’t always clear that
Georgia was going to take a 2025
quarterback I mean you mentioned it
there Allen that Georgia had two
quarterbacks committed in the 2024 class
at one point and it really wasn’t until
Dylan riola flipped late from Georgia to
Nebraska that the door opened for Ryan
and other potential quarterbacks in the
2025 class to have a spot available this
cycle for Georgia and I Gotta Give Mike
Bobo a lot of credit I gotta give off
the field support staff for Montgomery
Van Gorder a lot of credit here as well
because he came on a visit in January
and I think there were questions that
Ryan had about where he stood on
George’s board what the realistic
likelihood was that he could get the
green light to be in George’s class and
I think that they sat down they talked
X’s and O’s they you know Ryan loves
ball and I think that that seeps through
when he talks about the reasons he gave
you why he chose Georgia and I think
sitting down for that session with Bobo
and Montgomery Van Gorder it made him
realize Georgia really was the place
that he wanted to be and when it All
Shook out the opportunity presented him
for him to announce his commitment to
Georgia and I think that it’s really a
testament to the trust the ongoing
communication from both sides during the
course of everything because like Ryan
mentioned during his announcement there
were ups and downs there were roller
coasters it wasn’t always a sure thing
that this would be the end result and I
think that everybody is really happy
that that’s where it landed today yeah I
know he in talking to him he thinks it’s
a really good fit we think it’s a really
good fit Ben thanks for coming on and
joining us absolutely thank you Alan so
to close that off we’ve covered Ryan
Montgomery now for almost four seasons
and as Benjamin mentioned there he
absolutely is a football Junkie A guy
who has studyed tape very conscientious
hardworking Prospect so he goes to
Georgia now he comes from a
sophisticated offense where they throw
the football all over the field you
could see that in his highlights and how
often they’re empty and the amount of
different throws he’s asked to make he’s
also a four-year basketball player and
used to play baseball so a very good
athlete a multisport guy I don’t know
that that gets talked about enough when
bringing him up as a player so with that
Ryan Montgomery joins the Georgia class
he will enroll midy year and get right
into the mix for the Bulldogs that’s
after some unfinished business at Finley
we expect big numbers from him as a
senior as he has put up just about every
year but especially last season as a
junior that was his best season to date
so we thank Ryan Montgomery and his
family for joining us today and
announcing their commitment with us we
thank you for joining us on the 247
