using the ground to create power in the
golf swing is all the rage right now
I’ve been doing videos on it for years
with the swing Catalyst and I’m going to
talk to you about something that is
 completely misunderstood about how to
create ground force and how to do it
right A lot of times people start
hearing this idea like okay I want to
push off the ground with my left foot
and they hear tour Pros talk about like
I work really hard to get into this left
side and while that may be what they
feel the thing about the difference
between a tour pro and the average Joe
is the tour pro moving way faster way
way faster in every single regard
especially in the back swing if you’re
not hitting the ball far as you think
you should as far as you know you
 probably should you’re probably swinging
back really really slow and there are a
few tour players that can do that but on
average most tour Pros swing back way
way faster than the average Joe so when
they describe a feeling of really
getting into this left side what they’re
describing of what they’re feeling and
what they’re actually doing are two
different things and that’s what I’m
going to show you today so if you’re
going to the top of your swing and
you’re saying okay I need to really
really get into this left side well the
amount of time it took me just to
demonstrate that the whole golf swing
should have been over from start to
finish so things are happening so so
fast in the golf swing that if you don’t
 really understand that you start
interpreting feel and real really wrong
and it starts leading you down a wrong
path because the reality is when you’re
talking about a force plate like this it
what what it’s measuring is the true
definition of force which is mass time
 acceleration and it’s the acceleration
part that everybody misses so they start
going to the top and say I’m going to
get really heavy onto this left side I’m
going to get a lot of weight over here
and I’m going to try to push off you’ll
never ever do it in time it has to
happen blindingly fast and a better way
of thinking about creating force and
getting the club to release using your
legs and body to help and use the ground
to leverage to help leverage your wrists
is really thinking about speed and
 quickness and jumping because that’s
where you’re actually going to generate
real Force so don’t think about going to
the top and sitting into the left side
think about going there and getting off
of that left foot once you put pressure
on it as fast as humanly possible and
your force will actually go way way up
I’m going to show you that take a look
at this data I’m going to show you right
now it’s going to show you exactly
 what’s really happening when you
generate force in the swing okay so I’ve
got two swings up here on the left
here’s me my idea of sitting hard and
heavy into that lead side you can see
I’ve got a lot of pressure over there
and on the left and you’ll see that I
 Peak out at about
1180 lbs of force so this is me sitting
in that left side really trying to drive
force down and that’s the mount like me
push feeling like I’m pushing down as
hard as I can you can see at about the
same point in the swing I’ve still got
about 82% of my pressure on the same on
both swings so it’s a good comparison
from one to the other but while I have
1180 pounds of force on the
 left here I have
1,400 so way more Force created at the
same point in the swing and the
difference is watch my as I come into
 impact watch my left foot
here spring off the ground and it’s
actually starting to kind of rotate you
can see it moving away from the ball
because I’m actually jumping here and
that is how you create real force and
swing so you here my foot’s a little bit
more stable I’m just kind of planted on
that side obviously still hit the ball
great doesn’t matter all of that stuff
but in terms of producing speed and
Power look at the difference now where
my weight is really heavily planted 85%
of my pressure is on that side but here
 it’s dropped down to 55% where I’ve
generated more force and as I actually
strike the ball it’s all the way down to
43% versus 85% so again A lot of times
people think I need to get on that left
side and really stay planted on there
but if you’re talking about generating
Force that’s not what the longest
players do they’re actually jumping up
in the air so that that lead foot is
actually very light you can see mine’s
almost going to zero as I release the
club I’m at 6% at my lowest while I’m at
87% here so in your terms of generating
force it remember it’s mass times
 acceleration it’s the acceleration part
that people miss and they don’t
understand that that’s how you’re going
to generate Force that’s how you’re
going to generate speed is moving
quickly so don’t think heavy and slow
think quick and fast and dynamic now
let’s take a look at a long driver and
see what they do all right so we got
 Kyle Burkshire here hitting a
375 yd carry t- shot now look at the
vertical force that he’s generating in
 this shot
2400 lbs of force way more than me a
th000 lounds more Force than I’m
 generating and watch his
foot he’s already at 0% he’s off the
foot zero pressure it’s in the air 100%
of his pressure is hanging back here on
his toe because he’s literally jumping
up in the air to help this to help
create the speed to help create some
 parametric acceleration to create some
hip rotation to create that vertical
force that you can leverage the ground
to release the wrist more aggressively
and of course he’s nuking this ball so
again think in terms of speed not in
terms of heavyweight and I’ve got a full
video series I did on the swing Catalyst
showing you exactly what the greates are
doing in their swing so click the link
down in the description it’s going to
help you understand how to generate real
force and swing and start getting that
power that’s missing in your game and if

I don't like the word "jumping" when used in the golf swing. Yeah, you can get a lot of power that way. However, I think it should be more like "unweighting" when skiing. Even Kyle Birkshire can't keep them all in the fairway, and isn't that what golf is all about? Scoring? You can't do that from the trees. Another way to look at it is how Scotty Scheffler does it. Use the ground to rotate your hips. Just don't do the Scotty shuffle. How he gets away with that is a mystery….
