77th Western inter collegate a gorgeous
day from Santa Cruz California with the
North Pacific serving as a backdrop and
Philip Yaki the birdie at the ninth a
rare birdie at the difficult par
39th kuick started today with a one shot
lead here for the individual title In
Search of his first colle win as a
member of Arizona so yakub Chi back to 4
under par Thor Boron at three under with
his teammate Phillips two back we will
pick up Texas sophomore Tommy Morrison
here at the par five just short of the
green and two getting ready to hit his
third Morrison one under on the day one
over for the week see if he can get up
and down get back to even par
really well done there by Morrison
surprised he’s not having the other
players Mark the golf ball uh a little
bit yeah I kind of want my shot to run
out pitches on the down slope had it on
the UPS slope so that made this pitch
shot a little easier and that was really
well done R three 218 yards and will
follow the t-shot using top Tracer
technology pin to they right in the
middle of the green you can use that
slope right there ball will gather right
towards the center of the green so

Dobson started the day at four over tun

has played as the second hardest hole in
the golf course today scoring average of

for the 10th get a nice shot in there

play the right Ridge right slope there’s
been eight doubles and one other at 12
to 11 philli second on the way get it
out there to the right use some slope to
get it to the back left flight it in

so this will get better this will come
off that little slope and I was thinking
what two3 finish might do for Tommy
Morrison no doubt about it Philip
yakub looks like it’s coming in at a
good angle hi using the bank using the
slope get up a little bit it does
excellent shot needed much needed after
two Bogies in his last five

today beautiful pitch shot you see how
that ball checked up nicely and release

catch just spped out on the high side
so he can run up and tap that in and
shoot himself a good round to

so he and Christian Moss combined eight

today it’s for par and Stanford’s lead
just three right now so it has uh
diminished quickly and that’s what
happens around here and they’ve got some
par par attempts

the back just a little sliver of a green

follows it up with a great Approach at
16 this is Thor Boron at 15 we saw a
second here at the par five roll through
the green now he’s got some options here
uh see if he can get up and down yeah
he’s going to play this in the back of
his stance but what do you have to watch
out for it does go up the hill but it
gets up the hill pretty quickly because
it’s going down grain and towards the
water so
contact and catch has to be
perfect watch this run out oh what a
good effort right

under par and at least for the moment

to see it hit the coin and kind of
ricocheted off to the right I think it

golf tournament you get a break like
that and that possibly could be a big
break there for Phillips no doubt let’s
take a look at this again misses the

so he shoots a four underpar
66 and he posts three under hitting it
way up on that edge going to slow the
putt down otherwise it would go down to
where coach Alan Murray
is flattens out right there but
excellent pace and see how he used the
slope to slow the putt down

sometimes you have to use that slope to
your
advantage finish good finish there for
Michael I think that’s a little
confidence

Cardinal have just tied San Jose State
for the most western Intercollegiate
wins this will be Stanford’s
12th John there was that right sprinkler

70 and Stanford has won the Western
inter Collegiate last time they won it
was in
2019 and this is their 12th Western
inter collegate win tying host San Jose
State for the most wins in the 77e

win the Western Intercollegiate

who won his second Masters on Sunday in
2015 he won the varsity letterman jacket
in honor of Alistair mckeny winning the
Western interc Collegiate

sophomore picks up his first Collegiate
win
and the first Wildcat to win the Western
inter Collegiate and the name is Phillip
