another good day for you Patrick um
what’ you do what’ you do best today uh
I felt like I hit the ball really well
today um I had tons of chances to score
um even probably left a few out there
which is uh is nice after shooting 66 um
I feel like my game’s in a good place
and uh yeah I just had chance after
chance and um as it was as stressfree as
a day at harbort toown can be kind I
talked a little bit yesterday about it
but you said you a little bit of a low
there like the last month uh in your
game what do you feel like is improved
in that you know in this last couple
maybe like last couple weeks or like the
last couple days yeah um I really
dislike sitting at home during the
Masters um but it’s very inspiring um
obviously the kind of golf that Scotty
has played but just everyone in general
up there near the top of the leaderboard
um it’s definitely super motivating when
you’re at home so I had a really good
week of work um felt like I worked hard
on my iron play and on my putting and uh
fortunately they’re they’re both that
work is is showing here early signs this
week I wanted to talk about some stress
for a minute I’m thinking a what in the
world uh happened on five and was that
par putt the most important thing you
did all day today so yeah uh on five I
left it in a perfect spot there just
short of the green I hit my chip a
little short of my landing spot and it
landed in um my playing partner’s
pitchmark on his approach sh tell what
it was yeah um it probably wasn’t going
to be a great chip Maybe 12T from the
hole I’d say um but it plugged and I
missed the green so um but yeah getting
that one down and then just continuing
the momentum was really really helpful
um but yeah that was one of the weirder
experiences I’ve had um in in a little
while how many players would have thrown
a club in this situation there’s no
reason to throw clubs around here we’re
we’re super spoiled there’s hardly any
players in this field we’re playing for
a bunch of money and a bunch of points
on an amazing venue So when you say your
game’s in a you feel like you’re games
in a good spot what does it take to get
it in that spot what happened to get it
in that spot was that kind of last week
to what you’re alluding to uh yeah I had
to work a little bit on my iron play
just like my start lines my curve uh
distance control a little bit um that’s
kind of been what’s what’s held me back
on the golf course um a little bit of
the short putting stuff I bounced back
between a couple of different Putters
trying to find something where I was
more comfortable but uh you know hard to
believe that old trusty works the best
what’s you went back to your old trusty
which is it’s a it’s a two laon putter
that I’ve used for seven eight years so
it uh just feels good in my hands what
have you what have you learned maybe
some of the experiences you’ve had in in
being in contention that you might be
able to take into this weekend that
might be able to as we always we always
talk about you you know always seeking
that first win yeah um it’s definitely
like getting over the hump and getting
that first win has definitely always
been top of mind um it’s been top of
mind while I’m playing overnight um when
uh I need to get away from the outcome
to be honest um it’s going to take good
golf these are the best players in the
world um it’s it’s going to take two
great rounds in order to get it done um
but the way you shoot a great round is
you hit a good first t- shot and you go
from there so I’m going to work as hard
as I can to be super present um take it
one shot at a time I know it sounds
super cliche but uh I’ve definitely let
the situation in the past become sort of
bigger bigger than just the shot and so
if I can stick to just executing one
good shot at a time I like my chances
are there examples of of you letting
that happen in the midst of playing in
other words being in the mix on a Sunday
and and being so uptight about yeah it’s
just it’s more it’s more nuanced than
that but uh Sundays have definitely felt
different than a Friday I don’t I don’t
think they feel or than a Friday or
Thursday I don’t I don’t think they feel
the same to anyone though um so I’m I’m
not going to shy away from that but um
but yeah definitely I I’ve I’ve found
myself at times being wrapped up in the
situation and wanting to to get across
the line you know carrying the the
weight of not having done it before
forward with me when it’s just a round
of golf what was the routine like last
week Thursday through Sunday uh the my
rou uh I actually I didn’t watch a ton
of golf during the day uh I got two
young kids at home I loved spending time
with them I would I would play with them
in the morning practice in the
afternoons um yeah pretty pretty solid
routines we’d catch a little of the golf
on the replay on the evening your kids
didn’t say Daddy can you not turn the
Masters on my son did not want to watch
the Masters he wanted to play trucks and
dinosaurs so uh we did that has it been
that way um I mean I’ve heard that from
from people who are still Juniors that
you know when they get done you know
watching the Masters on Sunday it fires
them up they go practice um has it been
like that for you since getting out of
college yeah for sure um it hurts like
when you’re a kid it’s just inspiring
and fun and great and you can’t wait to
be there um you know each year that that
I don’t play it it’s tough um I
desperately want to want to be there I I
I feel like I’m capable of being one of
the best players in the world but it’s
up to me to to go and do it how old are
your kids I have a three-year-old and a
five-month old five months okay
y long interview sorry P it’s okay
