all right whenever you’re ready Mark um
Justin in with a 8 under 64 today to to
be 14 under and one back currently um
Can how would you assess that round
today uh yeah it was uh my first n was
pretty fun just I was kind of in the
zone I guess I don’t really know but you
kind of just you kind of want to
elongate that as long as you can but
it’s it’s hard to do um I think if
anyone ever figures out how to elongate
that they’re they’re going to be very
successful but no it was it was a fun
round um a comfortable pairing um and i’
I’ve been playing well most of the year
so it was um fun to see I guess so uh
yeah yeah you referenced the your first
nine that was the back nine you shot six
under 30 and then added four more
birdies um it’s not only your low round
of the tournament here I think previous
best was 65 bits first time in your tour
career that you made 10 birdies in a
round so when you think about that what
how do you you um I guess what I’m
asking is when you’re out there how do
you process that as you’re going you
don’t think about it it just happens
right yeah you just kind of got to go
with it as as much as you can kind of
that flow state that everyone talks
about yeah you just kind of go with it
as long as you can and I was trying to
but it’s for some reason I I don’t know
if it’s the want for more the want to
hold on like whatever it is um uh or the
want for safety I guess um we all just
kind of do it I mean everyone does it
even like the best players in the world
do it so um uh yeah I it was 10 birdies
anytime you birdie half the holes is fun
uh but even more than half is is great
so I just so let’s talk about the
birdies was there one in particular that
stood out and do you also feel like
everyone says they always left something
out there but even in a way around um
there were a couple um I guess the one
on
um the bunker shot on 17 that was I
didn’t expect that it was just it was
such a such a shortsighted shot and
luckily that Green’s a little softer
with the Ocean Spray coming off of it um
so I I hit a it was a perfect bunker
shot and luckily it went in I wasn’t
expecting it to go in but um and then uh
the birdie on one which was my 10th hole
just to kind of keep the momentum going
but I followed it up with I Bogi I think
it was two and five I bogied um it’s
just I mean if you get on kind of the
wrong side out here it’s Bogies are
possible so you just kind of kind of hit
to the fat part of the green and just
kind of take your chances from there
just describe the birdie at one that you
mention yeah I hit a perfect drive right
down the middle uh just a kind of a
flight at eight iron uh to about maybe
12 to 15 ft somewhere in there and Joel
had a longer putt on my same line and I
was it it broke more than I originally
thought so it was just kind of easy from
there do you recall anything from the 65
that you shot here in round two in 22
and how does this with it um that one
honestly was probably better just cuz it
was my rookie year and I had played bad
the first round and kind of had a bad
attitude going on and I remember um it
was an afternoon round and I went out
and I was just kind of
like hey man you gota you got to do
something today because I I I mean being
in that rookie category is always tough
and I I hadn’t gotten off to a good
start on the west coast and whatnot and
I was just looking looking for any bit
of momentum I could find and uh yeah I
ended up shooting 65 that day and turned
that into a top 15 so that kind of it
jump started a little bit of a run um
and then I got I had some help there
towards the end obviously but um uh yeah
I I think that one was probably bigger
for sure what do you think the the one
thing the most rewarding thing you’ve or
the most beneficial thing you’ve learned
out here since your rookie year a couple
years ago oh god um there’s a lot I try
to learn as much as I can every week
whether it’s just talking to different
guys or just wa watching them and just
trying to pick up something here and
there I mean I we’re all trying to get
better all the time so just uh I I mean
I could go I I could spend an hour
talking about the things I’ve learned
not the stands out no I I’ve I will say
I’ve driven it a lot better than what I
used to um i’ it’s something I’ve worked
really hard on it’s something I’ve I’ve
noticed that the top guys do really well
is that they drive it well and um it’s
something I’ve really worked on pretty
hard so and just finally um you finished
uh third in Mexico as your best finish
on tour how would you assess your season
so far um um I would say better uh I
would have liked obviously more uh
better just better finishes overall just
that I mean that’s my only top 10 but
I’ve made a lot of cuts um which is nice
but uh I I’ve really struggled putting
four rounds together even Mexico I I
think I shot one under the first round
and then played pretty well after that
um so yeah just really trying to put
four rounds together and kind of go from
there so what you plan this afternoon uh
rest just find some AC and some good
food and just kind of chill so
appreciate it I just want to ask you
really quickly you’re a former young
hitter uh LC on top of the board what
did the no laying up guys mean to you
earlier in your career to have that kind
of support no it was cool um yeah just
to be part of that the the young hitter
group I guess um I I feel like we got
more notoriety out of it more than
anything just uh maybe more from a
social media aspect but uh no the the no
laying up guys are great they’re
probably my favorite uh golf podcast
golf Social Media Group whatever you
want to call them and uh I I I think
they’re just fun and you learn you learn
a lot more about the game than you do
from other things for sure so thanks
