you don’t think a DB is the hardest job
in the NFL what’s harder than playing
cover one and just staying in somebody’s
hip and you can’t give up a yard of
Separation otherwise it’s a completion
it’s so good that white people can’t
even do it Travis like that’s how you
know it’s the hardest position they
don’t even let white guys try to play
quarterback anymore like they just said
you’re done it’s too hard of a position
it’s too physically demanding can’t even
do it as funny as H and yes now while
the Kelsey brothers are joking here
there’s an element of truth to this
white players just don’t fit The
Stereotype for what a corner should be
in the eyes of many and thus most of
them find a different path take for
instance this year in how all eyes are
on Iowa hawkey’s cornerback Cooper dein
with projections placing him among the
top corners in the draft dein Stellar
track record speaks volumes he’s a
unanimous All-American in a two-time
first team all big 10 awarde but perhaps
what sets him apart is the potential to
rewrite history as one of the greatest
white quarterbacks to Grace the NFL I
mean he’s got superb speed movement in
positioning setting him apart from so
many of his peers dein is unquestionably
one of the top defensive players in the
draft but much of the media coverage has
been centered around something unusual
for his position as a cornerback I mean
I really can’t did no did nobody told
you you’re white man you’re not supposed
six white players have been able to defy
the odds and play the toughest position
in all of sports who were they and what
actually happened to their
careers seahorn was uh was the best
athlete I’ve ever played with no kidding
yeah no no doubt I mean Jason seahorn
was the best athlete I’ve ever he made
everything look easy we called him seab
breed the first guy is former New York
Giants cornerback Jason seahorn seahorn
played college football at USC playing
both safety and quarterback in his two
years at the school and I mean Jason
seahorn story is a perfect example of
what white quarterbacks have to do and
honestly try to stay as a cornerback cuz
many of them are asked to switch their
positions once they get to higher levels
Sehorn had been a wide receiver and a
punt returner at his previous School
Shasta College before making the shift
to play on defense in his Junior in
senior years Sehorn Remains the last
white man to have been a full-time
corner on an NFL roster but it could so
easily have been very different for him
uh played Safety the first year and then
Dennis Thurman came in my senior year
with with h John Robinson staff and um
switched me to corner he just looked at
me he’s like dude you’re you’re too big
and fast um I’m wasting you at safety
you want to play corner and once again
was one of those things were sure and
from there Sehorn would go on to have a
superb 1993 season for USC and catch the
eyes of plenty of coaches and GMS across
the NFL he was selected in the later
part of the second round in the 1994
draft by the New York Giants Sehorn
swiftly became a Cornerstone player for
the gmen and I mean despite enduring a
grueling ACL and MCL injury during a
preseason game against the Jets in 1998
I remember Dr Warren comes over goes
what’s wrong I said I tweaked my knee he
comes over and he kind of does his
little Shake thing whatever they do and
I’ll never forget him looking up at him
he goes yeah you got your ACL you got
your MCL and I took his little bald head
and I’m was like what are you sure he’s
like yeah I don’t regret it I don’t I’m
not going to look back go I wish I
wouldn’t have done that so much happened
from that um it changed me as a player
uh it is what it is it’s part of your
life Sehorn remained a fixture on the
field appearing in 73 games between 1994
and 2002 although he never reached the
status of an elite player at his
position as evidenced by his lack of Pro
Bowl selections throughout his career
seahorn remained a valuable contributor
for numerous Seasons he recorded 19
interceptions and 418 tackles during
during his tenure at Giants stadium
showcasing his significant impact on the
field he also played a part in the
Giants making it to Super Bowl 35
against the Baltimore Ravens although he
did struggle in that one and I mean the
Ravens absolutely annihilated them 34
to7 seahorn was a superb athlete though
he was bigger than usual for a
cornerback in a big presence in New York
the country’s biggest media Market
partly due to his marriage to actress
Angie Harmon in 2002 the Giants released
him and he he played his final season of
his career for the St Louis Rams before
hanging up his cleats after a successful
10-year career three you wind up with
the ram how weird was that I’d love to
have only you know one name for all 10
years but I wasn’t the one writing
script so in the 20 years since no white
corner has had a career like it although
a couple of guys have had some
experience at the position Kevin casvar
Kevin kar’s route to the NFL was
definitely an unusual one playing
division 2 college ball for Austina
College in South Dakota hardly a school
renowned for its football Heritage and
like I mean yes he was a dominant
quarterback at that school but I mean at
the end of the day it’s a D2 School even
though he did get allamerican in 1996 in
1997 when I was doing the research but I
mean even with those accolades it still
really didn’t impress any NFL coaches or
GMS and he was passed on in the 1998
draft and I mean once again this could
prove the fact that many coaches
honestly just Overlook white cornerbacks
at the college level and even the pro
level but I mean that didn’t stop casv
he was trying to make it so he took his
talents to the arena football league and
after two great years in the AFL for the
Iowa Barnstormers in which he also tried
his hand at receiver Cas Bar moved to
the San Francisco Demons of the XFL for
the League’s first and only season his
performances were enough to find him a
spot on the Cincinnati Bengals in 2001 a
spot he would fill for six full seasons
now whether he truly does count as a
cornerback is really up for debate could
be you could say yes you could say no
because at the end of the day on most
rosters he was listed as a safety but he
did manage to play five games from 2002
to 2003 at the cornerback spot before
being switched over to the safety rle so
take that with what you want he would
then go on to play for the Saints and
Titans before retiring after the 2009
season case VN started 58 total games in
the NFL which would have seemed un
thinkable when he was trying out for
arena football and he’s even gone to
speak about his struggles as an outsider
at the position years after his
retirement in 2017 he was asked if he
felt that there had been some quiet
discrimination against him during the
time in the league after pausing he
simply stated yeah I felt 100% that way
I knew it and I mean I don’t blame the
guy for feeling that way like I mean
after all I even struggled finding clips
and pictures of this dude in the league
and even Arena Football like it’s
nowhere to be found illustrating the
Rarity of white cornerbacks here’s
another standout who predominantly
manned the safety position Troy apy apy
was a defensive standout who patrolled
the field as safety for the Pinn State
nitty liines from 2014 to 2017 a pivotal
member of the eighth ranked college team
in the nation ABY culminated his
collegiate career with the triumphant
victory in the Fiesta Bowl and I mean he
excelled as a safety showcasing his
athleticism developing from his track
and field days in high school and
college and as highlighted before
quarterback demands exceptional physical
prowness with Speed and Agility being
Paramount in the NFL run why are you
surprised well you I know why I’m
surprised I can’t say it on TV but he a
run run in 2018 ABY was drafted 109th
overall in the NFL draft by Washington
although he was drafted officially as a
safety and he did find some success at
The Position featuring in 42% of the
team’s defensive snaps during the 2020
season for the commanders who clinched
playoff birth that year in 2021 however
though apy converted to quarterback in a
move that really honestly just didn’t
work out for him he spent the 2022
season in and out of the practice squad
before officially being released by The
commanders in 2023 API barely featured
in the NFL at corner but I mean he got
further than almost any other white
player at the position in the 21st
century Julian Edelman this New England
Patriots Legend contributed to three
Super Bowl championships and played a
massive role in so many postseason games
his crowning achievement though was
picking up the Super Bowl MVP against
the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 gaining 141
receiving yards on 10 catches and
delivering the Patriots and Tom Brady
their sixth title yet edelman’s
versatility extended to defense during
his early years with New England
renowned for his college quarterback
days at Kent State Edelman was drafted
by Bill belich in the seventh round of
the 2009 NFL draft however during his
initial seasons in Fox bro he
demonstrated his use as a defensive back
as well during the 2011 season the
Patriots suffered significant injuries
on defense which led to them calling on
their third year receiver to fill in on
that side of the ball and like I mean he
did a commendable job in the
circumstances that they were given he
was called into action in week 10
against the Jets and made his first
tackle on Hall of Fame running back
leanian Tomlinson you heard him right I
think I heard him I I didn’t want to say
it but yeah we never want to hurt
anybody never want to hurt anyone
but you felt the lick like you laid a
good lick on him N I just went low on
him like he’s he was low L yeah
I just went low took out his legs got to
get the job done horn frog man biting
ankles Edelman continued this role
during the season helping out his
Patriots on offense and defense as well
as even on punt returns in addition in
the AFC Championship Game Over the
Baltimore Ravens Edelman played 27 snaps
on both sides of the ball including
covering Raven Superstar and Quan Balden
and forcing him to Fumble on the final
Ravens drive for the 2012 season Edelman
would ultimately break through at
receiver and eventually become the New
England icon he is today like I mean he
was athletic and a multi-skilled player
who was plugged into one of the League’s
best defenses and made a significant
contribution like I mean there are so
many Julian edelman’s in the game but it
does make you think how many other
players of Julian edelman’s relatively
small size could have played at the
quarterback position in the league and
if Edelman had dedicated time in college
and the pros to play in corner just how
good could he have been now I’m sure
many Patriots fans are delighted about
the road he did go down but maybe
there’s a different world where he went
on to be a three-time champion just on
the other side of the ball for a further
dive into the history of these white
quarterbacks we’re going to look at
Brian Davis the last white corner to win
a Super Bowl Davis played for Washington
between 1988 and 1990 and recorded an
interception from legendary Broncos
quarterback John Elway in Super Bowl 20
two helping Washington to dominate 42
to10 Davis had an 8-year career in the
NFL with his best times coming in DC and
played 87 games in an era where white
quarterbacks honestly were somewhat more
common and having played such a key role
in earning himself a Super Bowl ring
Davis would also go on to play for the
Seahawks Chargers and Vikings before
retiring in 1994 in his retirement Davis
spoke about the lack of White Corners
currently in the league and claimed that
the speed required for playing corner
just doesn’t show up as often in white
bodies as well as saying that NFL
coaches often perceive white cornerbacks
as being too nice and now the most
recent potential White quarterback until
this year was another Iowa Hawkeye in
Riley moss moss was also a Collegiate
standout in the Hawkeye State making the
all big 10 team in 2021 and 2022 as well
as being named a third team All-American
as recognition for his efforts like I
mean he was a very important part of of
that Iowa defense which led him to being
drafted as a third round pick by the
Denver Broncos in the 2023 draft so far
though things really haven’t quite
worked out for Moss as he struggled to
force his way into the Denver lineup and
I mean I don’t blame the guy like when
one of Denver’s starting cornerback
spots is secured by Patrick sertin who’s
one of the League’s top players in that
position I don’t really know how you’re
going to get playing time however Moss
likely anticipated seeing more action
than the 23 snaps he received during
last season accounting for just 2% of
all of Denver’s defensive plays in that
season time is on Moss’s side though as
he aims to make his Mark in the NFL but
I mean the dude has yet to still start a
game at cornerback having so far mostly
just been playing on special teams which
now brings us full circle to Riley
Moss’s teammate who’s now entering the
draft this year Cooper dein like many of
the men in this video Cooper dein did
also play other positions during his
time at college dein is a tremendous
athlete and the Hawkeyes felt they had
to use him as much as possible also
making him return punts and play cash
which they considered to be a hybrid
safety and linebacker during his first
few seasons but I mean like by the time
the 2023 season came around it was clear
that dein was just as good as his
preferred position of cornerback and
like I mean to be frank right now the
Iowa Hawkeyes of last year in 2023 were
absolutely aisal on offense I think in
my research they did like 15.4 points a
game like that is terrible they had to
rely on this defense so much that Cooper
dein just like had to do his job
otherwise they were going to lose games
and despite having the very worst
offense in the conference the Hawkeye
still made it to the conference
Championship game against eventual
national champions Michigan and again
this was large in part due to the
performances of Dee who was impossible
to ignore prior to the leg injury which
ended his season in mid November but
during 2023 teams largely in part
stopped throwing to his side of the
field as they were just scared of the
consequences which is like the biggest
honor you could get as a cornerback and
I mean on the rare occasions where he
was targeted he gave up just 22
receptions and zero touchdowns as well
as getting three interceptions as a
result dein was nominated for both the
Jim Thorp award in the nersi trophy in
January he decided to forego his senior
year and enter the draft a year early
immediately attracting attention from
scouts across the Pro Football World and
like I mean in this video we’ve talked
about all the struggles that white
quarterbacks have and honestly just the
many times that they’ve been encouraged
to play other positions and even just
called slow like Cooper dein has been
able to break that mold and honestly
looks like he could be a legit
quarterback in the NFL and just plays at
such an elite level and don’t get me
wrong this is a good draft for
quarterbacks with the likes of Mitchell
Arnold and Kool-Aid McKenzie all
expected to go in the first round
alongside deene but regardless of which
team drafts de jeene it seems likely
that the 2024 season will see one one of
the 64 starting quarterbacks in the
league taken up by a white man for the
first time since Jason seahorn all those
years ago but I want to know what you

going to go I’m going to say he’s
probably going to go in the top 15
somewhere and I see the Toledo kid
probably getting taken over deim but I
mean like this kid has a very high
ceiling and could honestly be the best
quarterback in this draft but I don’t
really know where he’s going to go like
