Adam Lowther, the Assistant Teaching Professional at Zwartkop Country Club gives you some great advice on playing a long bunker shot.
hi everybody welcome back to this week’s
tip of the week and today we’re going to
be having a look at our bunker shots and
specifically a nice long bunker shot and
often we’re faced with these and we
don’t really know what to do the the
general reaction is everybody normally
grabs their love wedge and it’s not a
bad idea but it’s also very unreliable
and you sometimes may catch too much
sand or not enough sand and then you
either leave it in the bunker or you gum
it over the back of the green so we’re
going to just put the L wedge away for
now and we’re going to actually grab a
pitching wedge you can grab gra maybe a
gap wedge or even up to a 99 and you
play it exactly the same as you would a
normal bunker shot it’s just maybe a
little bit softer and the goal of this
is to not really put too much force into
it because the ball is going to hop up
and it’s going to release it’s not going
to spin it’s going to roll out like a
pot almost so normal bunker setup open
the face a little bit if you’d like you
can have it nice and square but I like
to open it lean forward and then just
make sure you get everything going
through finish nice towards the target
so it’s I’m in like
this as you can see it releases nicely
towards the hole so it’s a nice easy way
of playing a very difficult shot so
hopefully this helps you guys and good
luck out there
