best players in the world the biggest
field in history in the first signature
event of
2024 the 2024 season opener here it does
feel right
welcome to PGA Tour the cut presented by

2024 describe my
2024 that’s a great question one word
it’s tough um literally I got nothing be
like
Colin oh I’ve don’t even know I wouldn’t
even know can it be two words or just
have to be one you see that how do I
spell courageous I spelled it wrong I
think that’s how you spell it
consistency something I’d strive for I
think would be
consistency consistent I just want to be
more consistent than last year I want to
feel like I’m stepping onto the tea on
Thursday and and I’ll have a lot of
chances come Sunday afternoon to win
golf tournaments work I always look back
to the work that I put in to get to that
place and when to step on the first tea
it’s just time to go out there and have
fun and compete is that how you spell
excitement I’m super excited about this
next year I think playing all these
tournaments that I’ve looked up to for
such a long
time
100% cuz at the end of my career I want
to know that I gave everything that
process of getting better every day is
so much more important than just
achieving something playing with courage
and playing with trust that’s what we
all strive
for strong I want to be the strongest
physically I’ve ever been and hopefully
that translates
into emotional and mental
strength

simple why not I think a lot of guys go
to this you know why not me why
him patience being patient in the
learning process and being prepared for
when I do have a chance to
win got to stay true to
yourself validate because coming off of
some tough years and then having a you
know pretty solid last year want to keep
that going so it’s like getting a skin
sometimes you play with buddies you got
to validate the next toll so this year’s
the next toll and we got to validate
balance I think it’s all about balancing
your life and being able to enjoy every
aspect of it we’re very lucky as golfers
to do what we do and I think if I can
enjoy that as much as I can we’re going
to succeed in every level before the
first round of the 2024 season teed off

Lina right this is giving back to the
the city the the community the culture
of Maui the culture of lahina and you
guys have like people like Chef Zack you
know the Hua mamona Farms we got to
learn about what what grows in this
micro Greenhouse we got to chop it up a
little bit in their one little house
right there peel some carrots chop up
some green onions but then put together
these CSA boxes and to know that
families are going to be getting
directly from them being able to produce
and make a meal or some type of whatever
they want it’s awesome puts a smile in
my face hopefully it doesn’t for

theirs Nice
Shot some of these families were
affected some of the kids were affected
uh parents included so I’m not a parent
yet but I can imagine you just want
what’s best for your child and to see a
lot of the kids smiling and having a
good time and not really thinking about
sort of what happened and sort of just
wanting to hit a golf ball straight and
up in the air it’s cool for me to sort
of be a part of that process for them so
amazing to have Xander in our field back
on Maui for him to carve out time and to
spend it with uh junior golfers today
that was just super special we have some
Roots here and it seemed like a
no-brainer for us to to give back and
and try and help out and give some
relief 1 two
three
Maui’s been so good to our family I have
ties back to laa which is on the North
Shore of aahu tough what they’ve gone
through but this is a small way for us
to say thank you and to give back in a
way that we know how to do best which is
through competition and through the game
of golf so I thought that this was
necessary for us to do this week we have
our tournament we’ve been talking about
that we’re doing to raise money for our
specific
Charities oh hello right down the pipe
turn and go right at the green nice
swing G these are all my guys you know
these are my nephews my son the summer
hazes it’s just incredible for us all to
get together and enjoy a good time for a
good cause this a special week for us we
always do a family tournament the phal
uh Invitational at caloa we decided to
turn this into a charity event for Maui
obviously and they’re in great need and
it’s just special to be doing something
good but being with friends and family
we’re all family go go
oh let go
dang 5 grand 5 grand
5,000 raise some money
baby okay oh even
better
yes Scotty’s unbelievable I don’t know
any other word that could describe it
you have to win a lot of golf
tournaments within a couple years in a
row in order to win back toback Player
of the Year and you have to win big ones
the sheffler victory train just keeps on
rolling he Stripes it he absolutely
Stripes it it’s his driver great it’s
his Iron’s great he’s confident so just
he’s very talented man had a pretty
special couple of years T green pretty
much the best in the world very special
player and I’m sure he’ll continue it
this year Scotty Sheffer is again the
champion in Phoenix he has a potential
to win every time he plays and he seems
to be the guy now that we look to as
this is the guy that we need to beat
this week our game is filled with so
many incredible talents and so many
incredible players to separate yourself
from that pack the way Scotty has over
the last couple years speaks to his
greatness if he keeps this up for the
next few years he’s going to be the
greatest player of Our Generation
there’s no question it’s really the
consistency of every single week you
know every made cut almost every event
in the top 25 most all of them in the
top 10 you know tease it up and you know
you’re like well he only shot three
under today just wait till we get to
Saturday afternoon and see where he’s at
and sure enough he’s got a chance to win
I think it’s players I think that’s what
we’re all trying to achieve is a little
bit more consistency and golf’s a pretty
difficult game and so to be able to play
consistent for most of the year I think
a lot of the players you know kind of
appreciated that part about my

year well last year Chris Kirk finally
became a winner after an 8-year drought
he left the game to handle alcoholism
and depression and didn’t know if he was
going to play the game again much less
win
again oh that was a really good strike
just right at the flag stick if it’s the
right
number how about this oh what a shot how
about
it the stage is clear for Chris
Kirk back in Maui for the first time
since 2016 and back in the PGA tour
Winners Circle it was an unbelievable
day I’m really thankful that I was able
to play as well as I did and you know I
was certainly nervous coming into today
and was able to kind of stay calm and
just played really really solid golf all
day this was very unexpected to come off
that break where I spent a lot of time
in the gym and I spent a lot of time
working on a mental game but I didn’t
actually play a whole lot of golf so to
come over here and to play as well as I
did is I’m very thankful and and a
little bit surprised
Chris Kirk Begins the season at top the
Comcast business tour top 10 and starts
the goal of finishing in the top 10 at
season’s end for the first time since
2014 the Sony Open in Hawaii W Li
Country Club once again on the world
stage famed yiki beach in Honolulu the
southernmost and Western most major city
in the United
States since 1965
wly has been a popular place for the
game’s greats to get their PGA Tour year
off to a rousing
start there’s the beautiful
trophy whoever lifts that Trophy this
could be a huge huge career moment Pur
the FedEx Cup points a field filled with
eager rookies All In Search of a
victory 13 of the PGA tour’s 28 rookies
are set to tee off their new careers at
the Open in
Hawaii it is a dream come true I’ve
Loved Sports my whole life and I love
golf the most so to be able to do
something that I love for work and to
get paid doing it is awesome I would do
it for free playing against the best
players in the world you know pretty
cool to be able to like compare yourself
to them and and just kind of play the
courses that they play so that’s that’s
going to be fun to to be able to compete
at that
level there’s a lot to look forward to
it’s hard to put
emphasis on anything in particular
you’ve accomplished something that not
many people can say that they’ve done I
mondayed into the uh Sony Open and they
probably have the best food I’ve ever
had I think I spent more time eating in
the dining versus actually practicing so
I might be doing that so I’m excited to
start off
there among the rookies in the field
nine earned their cards by finishing in
the top 30 of the 2023 corn fairy tour
points list while four of the rookies
earned their cards via a new pathway
finishing at top the DP world tours race
to Dubai points
list making a lot of birdies I think
that’s one of my strength and and I hope
that I keep being that way and make cuts
and and finish in the top five as many
times as I can State the obvious is
going to be cool to go do what I’ve
always dreamt of doing I’ve definitely
gotten to see a decent amount of golf
courses and just got to see kind of how
good the guys are I want to show up
there and I want to compete I want to be
able to win I’ve done all the hard work
like let’s just go out and play like I
love playing in front of crowds I love
playing in front of people I just love
hearing the crowd Roar and I’m I’m so
excited rapid recovery presented by
surfpro the number one choice in cleanup
and
restoration during the 2023 Sony Open in
Hawaii seiw Kim’s dep recovery shots on
the closing two holes were essential to
his championship run on moving day this
a hard shot his bunker shot at the par
five 18th moved him to just three
Strokes off the lead see wo Kim almost
hold it that’s terrific you really only
had a circle of about a foot and a half
to land that ball but it was his
skillful rescue at the penultimate hole
on Sunday that fueled his victory
charge cannot afford to make a bogey

now that’s the way to do it right there
how about a birdie sewo Kim ties him
right back at 17
under Kim closed with a birdie on the
72nd hole to win by one stroke clenching
his fourth career PGA Tour
title growing up a few miles from Wild
Country Club Chan Kim is making just his
second start at the Sony Open in Hawaii
but this time is a full-fledged member
of the PGA
Tour Chan Kim love this action I’ve been
waiting for Chan to make a
splash a lifelong dream finally realized
for the 33-year-old
journeyman the first time I physically
swag Club was when I was 12 then I
started playing junior tournaments out
in Hawaii and I think I won my first one
just before I turned 15 the feeling of
winning a golf tournament I think that’s
what really got me hooked and I just
knew that I kind of wanted to do it for
the rest of my life after turning pro in
2011 and qualifying for several
worldwide tours Kim finally landed on
the Japan tour in
2015 where he won eight
times looking for a more direct route to
the PGA Tour he then turned his Focus to
Corn fairy tour Q
School play Japan tour the last eight
seasons and then got through Q
School it takes a lot of patience this
game it’s probably the only time you can
feel every emotion he can feel humanly
possible in 4 hours in 2023 Kim posted
11 top 25s on the corn fairy tour
including late season back-to-back
victories locking up his PGA Tour card
with just three events left to play
that’s the thing about golf is you hit
that one good shot and then you end up
chasing that feeling for for a long
time the win in New Jersey vaulted him
up 42 spots to 12 from the corn fairy
tour points
list he moved into second just one week
later there we go picks up another
birdie and Chan Kim 18 birdies no Bogies
for the
week dude is on a
heater on the corn Fair T you’s just got
to play a lot more aggressive shooting
one or 200 per round is just not going
to cut it out
here if this goes no Bogies for the
entire week here in
Boise and champ Kim a champion for the
second straight
week in dominating fashion you know
getting it a PJ tour was always a goal
and uh you know now that I’ve achieved
it I can’t
wait this being the corn Fair tour and
the path to the PJ tour and yeah this
has to rank number
one this rookie won backto back events
he will be on the PGA tour for the first
time ladies and Gentlemen please give it
up from Honolulu Hawaii and playing out
of Gilbert Arizona Chan Kim it’s been a
journey but one that I wouldn’t trade
for
anything ready to have some fun to go

waa well in Maui Tom Kim spent a day
with kave outdoor and was treated to an
authentic Maui culinary
experience now I have my own company
it’s called kave outdoor we do Luxury
outdoor dining all over the world oh
that’s awesome aome yeah we’re based
here in Maui okay and we pride ourselves
on like Hunting Fishing foraging face
off and season and all that so what you
guys have today oh dude we got some cool
stuff I got some awesome sourdough that
we’re cooking in the Kohls uh with local
liloy butter got some fresh AI the
friends caught crispy pork belly oh come
on bro I’m big foodie so like you’ll I
think that’s what they say they’re like
oh he’s a foodie so we’re going to Parry
up with kave I was like let’s go you
ever planted a tree before I not planted
a tree
let’s go dude it’s a new year I know ex
checking off all the uh Buck list items
right here oh
yeah so it’s cool about today and what I
wanted to share with you is that we
named our business after the invasive
kave so kave is our invasive mosquite in
Maui our water is obviously super
precious just like everywhere in the
world and the COA pull water into the
aquafer and the kave is kind of just
like soak it all up and use it it’s
important um you know especially after
the year we had here in Maui to have
people come here and be kind of
cognizant of of the issues here in
Hawaii and how special this place is and
help keep it special you know uh take a
right oh my
goodness look at this view oh
bro no place like
Maui you want to do the honor to dig the
hole I will okay so right there is the
perfect spot don’t have to go too deep
just deep enough to get this guy in
there so not that deep and that bigger
out never shoveled before so I mean how
deep does it need to be
whoa clearly can see the difference it
would taken me 5 years to dig one hole
so I mean on the drive up we talked a
little bit about the significance of the
Native COA and how important it is to
our watersheds these trees are pulling
water into our
aquifers um you know versus the
invasives like kave and the haliko we
drove past on the drive up you know I
think it’s really cool that you get to
plant a tree and you know Help win that
war at least one tree at a time yeah so
thank you man no never
thought in a 100 years that I would come
to Maui and Planet

I’m just kind of learning about even
though we’re playing a tournament and
we’re here to work it’s also like you’re
kind of on a
vacation this is so cool get to have
some unbelievable food and I’m probably
having the best food this week what’s
powerful for us and what we do is taking
us back to ancestral methods The
ancestral methods are everything that
you know that Inspire
us time to Feast let’s do it we love all
the adventures and sourcing and
everything but for us everything points
to the table and how it connects us and
getting to do it in you know amazing
locations like this is unbelievable but
for us it’s all about slowing down with
people that you love and you get to
connect with and we’re passionate about
kind of sharing that gift with the world
to kind of hey if we can inspire you to
slow down and feast with your family or
your friends and I think we’ve done our
job my gosh toasted pineapple so good
red so
creamy so good all right
wow move all these herbs and things
aside just give you a big chunk of this
fish yes

experience the local Maui you know I’ve
only heard about it but to be able to
really experience it it was really
special you I think I have to come back
