breaking news from the world of golf
today round two of the Augusta National
Women’s Amateur wrapping up in the last
hour 35 players made the weekend they’ll
make the cut and stay around and play
but the big story the breaking news in
the last half hour is someone who will
not be playing on Saturday newf Sports
director Dan Booth joins us from
Champions Retreat so Dan tell us what’s
going on with this news we’ve just heard
about Anna Davis a former Champion out
there Richard we just learned moments
ago that 2022 amateur champion Davis was
assessed a one-stroke penalty for not
 abiding by and violating the
tournament’s pace of play policy now
early on the her whole group was
actually notified about this issue with
lah wo as part of that group and now
she’s the leader currently and Maria
Jose Marine they were notified about
that they were out of position multiple
times that one-stroke penalty was added
to davis’ score on 17 after receiving
her second bad time that penalty brought
her total score to four over on the day
which means for the second year in a row
Anna Davis has missed the cut for the
final round at Augusta National this
weekend now you might remember Anna
Davis had a similar issue last year
 being assessed two two-stroke penalties
for ball placement issues so this is a
recurring thing that is a little bit
shocking for a bunch of people around
here including myself who saw her early
on the day trying to get to the t boox a
little early even on some of these holes
yeah I think correct me if I’m wrong
last year it was about lift clean and
play whether you could or could not pick
up the ball and she tried to clarify
that but it was too late and this year
Dan do you know if everyone in the group
got that penalty or was it just
Anna as of right now it’s looking like
it’s just Anna but I’m going to continue
to do more research on this and find out
more when we come back at 5 o’ yeah much
more ahead from Champions Retreat live
at five Dan thanks to you and the team
for some up to the minute news on that
story but uh yeah it’s upsetting news
 for sure

Thanks so much for this – been looking for the explanation as I was certain that she had parred #17.
What a bs penalty!
Yeah, unfortunately it seems harsh but the tournament officials are spot on here. Multiple warnings precede a penalty if not adhered to. She is obviously a slow player and she will learn to sort that weakness out of she wants to compete at the highest level. Don't forget men amateur players are not immune. An amateur was given a slow play penalty at the Masters a few years back. Keeping up with pace of play in tournaments and at club level is part of the rules of golf and needs to be adhered to, unless ofcourse your name is Tiger Woods and the committee need to make special allowances for you as in the 2013 rules debarkle but that's another part of the rules not applicable in this discussion. Tournament golf is harsh and young players often get a raw taste of it but a necessary experience imho if you are to learn to navigate the rigorous life on tour.
Crap reporting … maybe show her actually playing and moving slow?
