  1. For as good as Denny played today, hats off to Akshay for coming in clutch after seeing Denny's insane run on that back 9.

  2. Rick, pro tip, while in Augusta do not get talked into hitting up a Wife Savers restaurant. You'll be told something about it being great and having the best fried chicken, do not be fooled. Their slogan is "put a little south in your mouth", do I really need to say more?

  3. This week was the perfect example as to what I was saying last week along the lines of finishing results, while objective they don't necessarily tell the tale (and I understand that most people don't want to expend the energy of a detailed analysis within that, but the types of people listening to this show are generally into analyzing everything). Some tournaments a second place could be a result that would win 99% of the time, whereas last week the winning result where half the field finished within 3 strokes of the leader, would have held up a low percentage of the time. And I'm less inclined to steal the thunder away from a player who won with a weaker result than I am to building up a player with an impressive non victorious outing such as Denny McCarthy this week.
Especially when you have split tours and your trying to assess the quality of play to a greater degree. This sporadic metric of course doesn't take into account the way a players performance may change due to pressure, the lead, coming from behind etc. But especially with the way the PGA tour awards a tournament winner vs second place is substantial and I'm not talking money. In this case both Bhatia and McCarthy played so out of their minds that they lapped 3rd place. This of course doesn't always happen but when winning a golf tournament requires the stars to align and a player playing out of their minds it gets a lot more challenging for a player to win several tournaments and it empowers consistency stats all the more.

  4. He gets a spot at Masters but not Dean Burmester that won the weekend on LIV (against much better players) and who won 2 tournaments in December on Sunshine Tour (including The South African Open which is the 2nd oldest Open after the British Open)…and also not Louis Oosthuizen that Also won 2 Tournaments in December on Sunshine Tour and happens to be a past Major winner.
Majors will soon be crowded by average PGA players…and I guess it's better for PGA that LIV only has a 13% (13 LIV golfers playing Masters) chance to win a Major than a 15 to 20%…just saying
