Let’s start with Mike Tomlin since we didn’t get to this during the podcast yesterday he spoke in Orlando Florida at the owners meetings the league meetings talked about a number of topics including embracing a lack of comfort as it relates to bringing in Arthur Smith from the outside as the offensive coord

Orator I’m really glad Mike Tomlin is comfortable with being uncomfortable because I’ve been uncomfortable and anxious with the Steelers for seven years well like most things Mike Tomlin says I don’t even know what that means it’s just Babble it’s just platitudes every single word that drips

Out of that man’s mouth is HSE manure I don’t believe any of it I barely listen to all of it well one thing that was clear was I mean he was asked a number of questions about the quarterbacks obviously and when he was asked about Russell Wilson repeatedly he talked

About lots of off the- field things and resume and experience Etc I just didn’t hear a lot from him even when he was asked directly about how good he thinks Wilson could be on the field which to me Remains the biggest mystery I know what

His resume is I know the lack of money he’s costing the Steelers but how good is he gonna be well yeah I it’s like he hire a girl Scott troop leader you know he’s going to help bake Bronies he’s lead the singer along at the campfire

But uh excuse me yeah I mean I I don’t think we need to be told by him what to expect from Russell Wilson Russell Wilson good in the Red Zone last year kind of me otherwise better than picket that’s the phrase we should always remember Tomlin didn’t say it I am and

It’s obvious better than picket I just have very little faith to go back to his um willingness to be uncomfortable I’m uncomfortable that they’re ever going to get the quarter back situation right I mean theoretically I’m uncomfortable they haven’t won a playoff game in seven years yeah and I think that is the

No I disagree I think Deontay Johnson was going to cause more problems than he was worth at his price all right then as far as anything else Tomlin got to anything else worthwhile there at all maybe in terms of where they leaning for the draft if

It comes down to it do you go with the center because it sure sounded like that’s the direction they were leaning in more so than wide receiver or more cornerbacks uh I don’t know there’s a lot of centers right I mean what round do you need to

Take a center in and the fact that he brought up Nate hering’s name that’s the one thing that did make me wonder well I’d say this about way Tim Tim one thing I want to make clear yeah you know the guy who I see him in the comment section

Away no I’ll go back to what you said about the centers I mean there are it does appear to be a good draft for cers especially at the top if they want to get one how long do they last I don’t know but um there is depth at the wide

Receiver in cornerback position and at tackle too for that matter so center to me if they want to go for the best guy go ahead and get him and maybe go for the bulk later on on the second or third day uh but you’re right I mean they

Don’t have to overe extend for a center Creed Humphrey went in the second round they could have had him there instead they went with friy move to me one of the key things they got to do is get a right tackle to move brck Jones the left

Tackle but I don’t sense they’re in a hurry to do that no and tomon was non- cabal about that you know they just love Dan Moore Jr they love him yeah they love them there are good tackles to be had and maybe have your book ends for

The next 10 years but they to your point want to seem like they have made the efforts of working with Dan Moore pay off because there’s value there they’re always hunting for Value instead of going for just the best guy you don’t hunt for value at left tackle you hunt

For excellence they found it they’re refusing to use it I would bet Rodrick Jones plays right tackle and de more left week one the funny thing is I think they finally learned their lesson about hunting for Value non-stop when it comes to inside linebackers that’s when they

That’s why they went out and paid and got Patrick Queen because they were done doing it at that position Kim we’ve overreacted badly to all the great moves they’ve made and they are great the great moves they made in the off season it is a small sample size of knowing

What you’re doing they will yet redeem themselves in that regard all right so Steelers fans want to hear from you your thoughts on anything that Tomlin said down in Orlando or anything they’ve done in the off season but you’re talking about making moves Mark what moves can the

Penguins make to get better or they just screwed to get better when uh either well not this year there’s nothing else they could do this year so how about the offseason well I have a column going up in a trip they got to really seriously consider the future of everybody not

Named Sydney Crosby they got to consider Sullivan because he can’t fix anything tell me one thing that’s been a problem this year Tim that’s got gotten better oh nothing the power play the power play is a direct reflection on coaching because either they’re teaching the wrong things or more likely the wrong

Things are being done and they’re not correcting them because they can’t tell the big contracts what to do uh they don’t even practice three on three they played uh I gotta R down here Tim forgive me they have played a three on three overtime 15 times this year

They’ve won three times during the three Onre phase okay I thought when they got Carson lat Tang both back there for three on three that’d be unbeatable but they don’t practice it and guess what it looks like they don’t practice it although boy lat Tang got burned Yesterday by Jonathan drewan and that’s

A problem too that doesn’t reflect on celiv next season their best players will be 38 37 37 and 34 all of them have hit a wall at one time or another this year including Sid except for Eric Carlson who never really to me has gotten St

Can Carlson be moved do you think the contract is movable yeah if you pick up like two-thirds of his salary a yeah at that point you might as well then keep them especially exactly you know depending on what they want to do with leang if they do be C I’d be curious

What they it’s going to be tough to trade lat Tang too because he has four years left on his contract four years so um I think that I the coaches what what they should look at because that would affect major change period but I don’t think they’re going

To do that because they think he’s the right guy or because they’re wed to the contract given that the extension is just about to start six of1 half a dozen of the other yeah I think I suggested my column today and I’m a big I’m a big fan

And I have a lot of faith in Kyle dubis I mean he inherited a bad situation Tim this roster looks like exactly what it is assembled by three GMS and out of three years a hodge podge of nothingness exactly maybe worse than nothingness but

But uh but uh I I wish Kyle would stop talking about all the faith they have in Mike Sullivan that sounds even dumber than mik Mike Sullivan saying how hard they played at Denver after blowing a a 4-nil lead yeah I think his I saw like 37 seconds worth of a postgame press

Conference with him after the Colorado game and to go back to babble or nothingness coming from a head coach that’s what I hash hockey Tomlin yeah they’ve become the same guy same first name same results over the last seven years basically are close to it can’t argue that can’t argue that at all

And uh they only they only play one way they play Fast and the problem is they’re slow you know what happens when you play fast and you’re not fast you lose to a faster team seven times in a row like the New Jersey Devils or you lose the last two periods the last

Period and a half to the Avalanche and that’s enough to erase a four no no Tim I credit that to not knowing how to manage Elite well that comes into play too that’s also a bit of question mark stuff there too Tim like in New Jersey there

Were like two goals against it like 16 seconds and um at Denver the Peng was took a four nothing lead and conceded a goal 25 seconds later you know what you do after you’re up four nothing there was like how much left in the period four minutes in the period or something

Know I don’t know because it a lot of things color it differently for each player Carlson’s unmovable because the contract malan’s unmovable because he’s just done lat tang and Crosby would be guys you could move but then if you move Crosby and lat Tang who were the two guys I

Mean lat Tang up until a month ago was real good since then he’s been real bad but like like what if you get stuck only with Malin and Carlson oh yeah well I don’t think they’d ever trade Sid unless Sid walked out if you did give him that option that
