SOME TEAM!

I think there’s gonna be some good ones to pick from as it is have you put yourself in there of course probably one of the most underestimated players that I’ve played with an outstanding player I’ve got five number n probably the cleanest finisher I played with you know he’s better than
Michael Owen yes no that’s according to Roby fell I played with him at Sunderland did you he struggled at Sunderland didn’t he scored no goals I’ve red him for 10 years with the national team what a character I feel like that’s a whole episode on its own
More than an episode we are doing another ultimate 11 and Sam and I are joined by Gary McAllister and so it’s going to be his ultimate 11 of players that he has played with internationally at any club so I think there’s going to be some good ones to pick from as it is
Yeah I’m very interested in this over to you Gary let’s go have you put yourself in there I’ve had of course if you don’t B yourself oh you got to that’s true getting it done in paper is a must because in my head I’d be changing it all the time yeah all the
Time so I like your organization I’m actually I’m actually going to play 423 1 43 3ish okay so quite a modern shape rather than the basic 442 that we have you got a Subs bench there as well I’ve just get I know I’ve got loads of
Forward I’m not I’m still not sure by the time I get there I’ll make my mind up yeah might be able to help you okay we touch briefly on the on the goalie gorum was just a freak of nature I just it’s like and we had Jim Leighton obviously was
You know Fergy’s goalie at aberin and Manchester United and so big comp not rivalry competition Al hodkinson was the goalkeeping coaches with the national team and he was a gorum fan but he also worked at Rangers so it was always a be bit there was a bit of angst there but
Gorm was the without shadow of a doubt the best keeper I played with played with some really good goalkeepers Ian Andrew at Leicester young keeper who was going to be the next Shelton Martin hge Wester as well H but gorm outstand and you managed gorm at well yeah he came at
Re time and played a couple of games for me when I had no goalkeeper so uh it was one of those just registering come one training session is in goal like I mean I mean I mean to actually do that when we’re I mean we’re in the bottom
Division but in all fairness we we’re going for promotion of course but that’s just his just his love for football really just his can help was out like you mean he shot sto he’s a good player Andy so he was a good footballer he joined in the training so when when when
Players got through one andone against them he could really he could get in the head of forward he could anticipate and read the strikers because he was a good footballer he easy goalie easy goalkeeper Choice there okay so you staying a back you say back it’s a back four it’s a back four
So right back I know I know a lot said you know a lot of teams get their width and fullbacks are not necessarily top Defenders and and in today’s world you know in today’s money but I’m going for a old school Defender okay and and and
You’ll see why I’m going for a I’m going for Cara carer at right back voice leader talks to people but by playing Cara at right back I’m going to there’s going to be a more offensive left back so the three will become a back three so
So I’ve got carrier at right back purely because of his voice yeah just brilliant at talking people in front of him through the game so in actual fact he’s probably better as the center half but I’m playing him there and they’re going to he’s going to play alongside Richard gof who played
With the national team yeah yeah who was just a proper proper Defender outstanding but in both boxes defending outstanding set pieces are a big thing in in modern day football so GF in his own box defending but he could get me a goal at the other end as well so right
Back carer right center back Richard Goff okay next and then left Center back to somebody with a bit of pois probably better in possession better on the ball than than goofy but Goofy was very competent Sami hippier okay again profile you know set pieces for and set pieces
Against top player and he would he would be capable of coming out of the back line with the ball and then your your but left back is probably would be a superstar in today’s game Tony Deo we’re fullbacks of flying andj a left Winger playing left back okay fantastic left fo
Like a wand so with him getting really high the other three would come and sort of make it three Center halfes how what do you think of the that defense yeah very good excellent and Sam Sami apier was was a surprise choice of not thater
But just sort of forgot about him as it were like you mean so you know I played with Miller MCC and didn’t quite play with jocky I missed I missed Alan Hansen but you know Miller and MC were outstanding but Samy just probably just who was the manager of Liverpool
Then when Sammy with the Jed j j a Gerard had and I know he played on played on played with Rafa as well but you weren there with Rafa then were you no I I go I was only a couple of Seasons so that’s that’s my that’s my goalie in
Back line okay so that that right move us into your Midfield and what did you say it was again the Baldi guy Scottish six6 pick you know what I’m so happy about this because you’re the first person that we’ve done this with and we’ve done quite a few now picked themselves you
Know what I just because I want to play with these guys that’s them they don’t they don’t make you look a better player let me get one thing straight the better the players you play with the easier it becomes I’m in amongst some proper love it f breads here who’s with who’s with
You so so the the defensive you know like not very physical myself but the guy next to me d David bat he was probably one of the most underestimated players that I’ve played with an outstanding player um far better than people think people just thought it was just this
Sort of animal in the middle of the park just crashing into people and you know but very clever intercepting stuff into the into the front man covering across these two center backs so batty who who’s is most UNF footballing football person I know he does doesn’t he like
The game not in love with the game that was really no just no interest but you going to training and go oh what with that what with that Champions League game last night Madrid Barcelona what what game it was it champ oh no why would you be watching football
Yeah so BTY and myself and then just in front of us obviously I played with Steven when he was a young player at level 1920 when I arrived and you could obviously see where where his career was going to go so just a young Steven Gerard and Rafa employed him in this
Little slot as well just that freedom to go and join the front because he can score goals and he’s and his goals are generally pretty spectacular so myself and BTY and Gerard just in front Steven just been free to go and join the front men and the the two wider guys so just
Great at anticipating stuff around the D at the edge of the box for shots probably one of the best strikers of the ball that I’ve played with and scor and scored capable of scoring goals from distance so not afraid to shoot which is something that’s a bit of a d art people
People don’t shoot from distance and then you David Batty and Gerard okay that’s decent I’m quite happy with that so we’ve got a we bit of we bit of G we’ goals and we’ve got a B of braw okay and then up on the right on the right hand
Side so right attacker yep so not not being not being just told to play and stand like an old school right winger Gordon Sten who’s a player who could come in and Link obviously he good combinations with Gerard and when I tell you who my number nine is you would see
Why but straing coming in off the side you know and and then maybe allowing jard to make little runs going to on the outside of them so they they would be changing and rotating a little bit Gary I’ve got to tell you I don’t notic Sam no one that’ve done this before has
Thought about tactically how they would play together no but sten’s knowledge and just his just his genuine he was he’s a little bit of a pick Pock on the pitch he was always just stealing the ball and making things happen fantastic player there was a couple of Seasons at
Ellen RH where he was the best player in the UK I think he I think he won Player of the Year Sports writers player he he a clean sweep it was just he was and he was 30 35 Plus wow so then over to the
Other side which is God bless him I I only you know he he came and played at my hometown Club after an amazing career at Glasgow Rangers but I I only crossed paths with David Cooper on two or three international games and just a know just
A know that be back in the day we be together for three four days so maybe spent six 10 days with him as as a but I seen enough in 10 days and watched them enough Cooper was David Cooper was a was a manipulator of the ball you know was a
Left Winger M and he’s Vision weight of pass so again he would be allowed to come in and be sort of left 10 number 10 off the front as well to allow dgo to come in the outside but his understanding with it I’ve got five number right give us them all pick pick
Your best Ro yeah I’ve gone M coist yeah for obvious reasons it’s just like goal scoring record is and just half a chance goal didn’t didn’t didn’t he need many chances Fowler probably the cleanest finisher I played with you know he’s better than Michael Owen yes no that’s according to Robbie
F Michael Owen’s better than Fowler according to Michael Owen we had Robie Fowler on the podcast Soo for him so Fowler left no backlift so yeah the number of times you see Fowlers goals were Keepers to score like that and the ball’s passed them it’s gone because he
Hit the ball so early right really good as well and what a lot of people don’t know Robbie and Michael both very good in there for small guys s that ability to hang so I’ve obviously get Michael yeah know there was again when he won the balandor and we won the treble he
Was was pretty much unplayable you know somebody who offers the other way so the other ones were players that were competent coming in Lincoln play Michael didn’t want to take any part in that no he just wanted to score goals he didn’t want he didn’t want to make a Midfield
Player look good by playing nice little onew put me in for a goal and I’ll run he basically that that was his body language he say Gary I’m not coming to play little pretty football with no Tippy tappy football but he wanted me to be putting
Him in with a goal in front of him not his back to goal so I’ve got McCoy’s fer on and then this this guy was what a player this fellow was Mo Johnston you know for ah yes yeah Johnson controversial move from Rangers to Celtic when it from up down to no down
Was he well he he was he was at Watford Watford from partic thisle and he he had done the deal with Celtic yeah but hadn’t signed yeah the deal was it’s legendary I think it was written on a packet or something like and then gram sun was managed at Rangers hijacked
It and and nicked him you know and he was from a part of the city you don’t associate with Rangers so Mo Johnson to sign and have The Bravery to go and play for you know people you know he’s not a ranger but he was brilliant for Rangers
And the national team he was a he was an out out goal scorer he was just that just wanted to score goals oh this is tough then and then and then the one I’ve now got here he’s not necessarily and I didn’t play with him a long long
Enough but what he did when he left is is you’ll know who I’m talking about but Cana could lead the line as much as he was more of a 10 he was a player but he was a nine he played with him at leads he came he came to leads when the
Season we won the league he came in January MH and wow it’s like this story is remarkable because he he had got in trouble he’d smacked a referee in France yeah got bummed out banned yeah and know latini wanted to pick him for the French Euro squad for
92 but he got obviously couldn’t play in France so I think I think platini was friendly with Trevor Francis who was managing Sheffield Wednesday at the time Trevor say well you can come and train and and come and trial and Canon I was a
Bit can I don’t have to go and trial but he goes and the couple of days in Sheffield there was a big downpour of snow so they could only train indoors so Trevor only seen him playing in Little Five asides on astr so he can’t make a decision and then Howard
Got wind of this these contacts at Wednesday yeah and said before he goes back to France send them over send him over to yeah and within 30 seconds he scores an overhead kick and obviously set the training up for him it was more finishing and forward stuff so that
Howard could get a look at him players L sign you know that still nobody’s got got orever explained not even Edwards told me you let him go he was so disruptive by the end of was he it was like Howard had to make a it was like a big decision like a
Ronaldo decision for T hag for the group yeah yeah you know we all loved him he was great but just it was just there was an atmosphere then yeah and they’ obviously they’d clashed I would advise managers not to sell one one of your best players or a
Talented player to your biggest rival yeah oh the biggest rival okay well that isane stories by I might just go Mist oh yeah I’m happy with that just for goals proper poer well we all no well don’t we I played with him at Sunderland yeah did you he struggled at Sunderland didn’t he
Scored no goals he didn’t like that when I said on talk sport like he said not suland and in brail what I said scored no goals at Sun he started laughing all but he was he was young pop yes and he come down from Scotland you know and
I red with him for 10 years with the national team what a character I feel like that’s a whole episode on its own that’s more than an episode yeah that’s a that’s a what you call it war in peace I think we need to set that up right thank you
So thank you Gary McAllister’s ultimate [Applause] 11

You played with paul mcstay ya nob
Good stuff but I can't get past the female presenter's fixed smile! 😁
Mo Johnston got done for reset for buying Adidas tracksuits off of shoplifters round my bit of Glasgow
That were the days😂
Gary Mac Prod class
Davie cooper the best ever left foot in the world of football
Watch his free kick against Aberdeen
Thanks for this, great to see Gary Mac again. I remember seeing him for the first time in 1990 when he was Leicester captain. It was Leeds’ last home game of the season and I was in the South Stand when he scored a free kick against us. Leeds won the match but Gary Mac was the best player on the pitch that day. I remember saying to my mate when we go back up we need him bossing our midfield. I couldn’t believe it when Wilko signed him that summer. Gary Mac was fantastic at Leeds could play almost anywhere, incredible silky skills and a dead ball specialist of the highest order. Him and Strach were definitely the best signings Wilko ever made. In fact Gary Mac and Eddie Gray are my favourite Leeds players of all time.
jeezo dont show Joey Barton this channel
Gary McAllister doesn’t even know that Mo Johnston played for Celtic 🤯
He thinks it was all about geography
Thank god greedy Sam was there for the insightful thoughts and searching questions.
Wonder how some people age what is their diet, and drinking habits like this guy looks like a Sith Lord from a Star Wars
Mug , no wonder he got a slap going back to Leeds, forgets he ever played for anyone else other than the bin dipping murderers. Craig Gordon was better than Goram. Who put the bae in the schitzo’s net Johnny Robertson 🇱🇻.
Easily the worst 11 I have seen from a pro 😂
Mo Johnstone was at Nantes in France when he moved to Rangers snubbing Celtic. Gary is mistaken.
Bizarre that he can remember MoJo played for watford and partick but completely mess up the rest.
Glad Macca chose Strachan
My favourite Leeds player.
She's so fake and self-obsessed
Gary Mac was part of the best midfield quartet in the prem/old div 1 in the early 90s at Leeds. No wonder Leeds won the title with Gary Mac, Strachan, speed and batty. Also kudos to include Tony dorigo. Years ahead of his time.
The fact this man put cara in ended my interest in this clip!
She ain't the full ticket is she
