  1. Ellie know damn well no fighter that made 20 million asked him for $20 dollars 😂

  2. When your management is giving you a stipend, that is not a salary, its an investment. They'll want that money back when you start making it + interest. If you have a training team, they'll expect a share since they could be doing something else or training somebody else who would share.

  3. Met him and his brother at some fights in Cali that they put on. Seemed like a really nice guy. He was one of my fav fighters and then just retired… He's doing good tho. Hats off to him and his fam.

  4. As much as Mikey accomplished in his career he could've done so much more. He shouldn't have sat out his contract with Top Rank 🤦‍♂

  5. Hit right on the money. But one thing people always forget is, as low as $360k is, you never know when that next big fight is. That pay day might be the last payday you’ll ever get especially if you lose. As a decorated amateur, I struggle with this aspect in the pros. The work we put in you get nothing out. 360k for a fight (which takes YEARS before you’ll ever come close to getting a fight like this) is not enough money to retire on or live off.

  6. Hm, uncle Sam gets his before anyone else. Thats not just fighters. The fans that have put money in Mikey's pocket deal with the same struggles but have far less. Taxes, expenses, etc
They are much further from home ownership and have to fight more than once a year. So cry me river bc I have no sympathy for professional victims.

  7. 100% all boxers/ fighters need to have a financial advisor, or at least someone who shows them how to budget and save for the future. On top of your training/ camp expenses and taxes, don't forget that you have to pay for your own health insurance as boxers are independent contractors from an employment standpoint. Some boxers are smart and will get an easy 9-5 part/ full time gig from a large company, just so they can get benefits for themselves and their family without too much out of pocket expense.

  8. And what some people don't realize as far as buying homes and buying houses once you own the house outright and you don't owe any money on it, there's one thing or basically two things that you still have to pay for as long as you own that home and that's taxes and insurance. And taxes nowadays with these houses being so expensive is damn near the amount of a small mortgage. Like on a 6000 house you might be paying $400 – $600 in taxes a month. Thats not including insurance. Years back, you could get a $120k condo or small home and your full payment was $600-$750 a month, and thats everything included, tax, insurance and mortgage loan. So ppl need to realize that even after paying a house off in full, you still need monthly income to pay for taxes and insurance on that property

  9. Translation : when Mikey got paid 1 million per fight thats what he left the locker with. He cant speak on other fighters 😂

  10. For a young man he has the outlook of a man with much more life experience. Decades ago I read that Marvin Hagler hired an acountant/money manager early in his career that invested his winnings wisely, paid Hagler a salary that would make him comfortable but not extravagent with longevity in mind. One of the few wise men.

  11. props to mikey, had the pleasure to hang out with him and this guy is doing it the right way and the smart way. He's going to be well off for the rest of his life without boxing and his kids will be set straight as well too. Boxers and other athletes should mimick what he does and not just splurge on jewelry. All these million dollar making boxers be splurging on jewelry thats worth 100k to 300k but yet you know they didn't pay full price, they put a down payment on it and make payments. This is just a way to show they have wealth when really the cars and jewelry are on lease/payments lol. Look at AB, he went All About BROKE LOL

  12. This guy needs a crash course on interviewing skills. He interrupts frequently. Not very articulate in his questioning and again, ask a question, let your subject marinate and let people answer.

  13. This puts into perspective how much Conor McGregor made with the Floyd Mayweather fight.
I don't know the real number, but it was obviously big enough for Conor to never have to fight again, except to fulfill his agreements with the UFC.

  14. Fighters deserve better.

When a veteran goes home he goes home without that kind of money risking his life often coming home disabled or amputated if he even makes it back.
