So in today’s video we’re joined Again by Lynn excellent student out of M you’re doing the demonstrations and we’re going to talk actually about what you have been sort of working on yes um which is the sort of takeaway position yes okay um let’s talk a little bit

About what you were doing don’t want to bring back nightmares and M is but if we or if not I can help you we’re doing all a bit together okay so um and a bit and you also had quite a bit of an unusual move where you were sort of like

Managing somehow to get quite far back without um setting the club yeah I was for wit exactly so and you became ridiculously wide now the reason why that became a little bit of a problem was more because of your short game yes um because obviously when we’re doing

The short game we we don’t necessarily want too wide a swing because then you can’t kind of hit down on it so we just sort of brought it back to simple um but also helps the sequence which is what we’re getting into in today’s video so first movement what we’re looking for is

Uh three things from my perspective okay number one is the wrist hinge perfectly demonstrated all you need to do with the wrist hinge is you basically just need to realign the club shaft and the left arm perfect okay and what I mean by that is from the beginning you see um the

Club is not in line with the left arm it points more towards the center line of your body which is correct um but we want to get the left arm and the shaft in line and that’s why I would suggest just do a little bit of wrist hinge

Quite early the other benefit of wrist hinge is it opens the face and maybe not in today’s video but you do need to have a feeling of hitting it with an open face in the golf swing you don’t want to kind of do this to hit the ball

Basically happy with that b yes got it um what should then happen from this stage is the important thing about back swing is U what’s known as separation so you want to make sure it’s more upper body than lower body perfect okay so what I mean by that is Lyn show me if

You turn your lower body uh start from the beginning for me turn turn your lower as much as your upper exactly and golfers that have Tendencies to stand up in the golf swing that’s because you’re moving like that yes okay so as opposed to what Lynn’s demonstrating which is

The correct move of more upper body very good yeah let me um very good go on let me show uh the Inc I’ll do the rubbish moves you can do the good moves so um if I demonstrate what you shouldn’t be doing which is allowing the lower body

To turn at the same degree as your upper body then what will happen is even if you try with all your mind to keep your head still your head will move okay like so um and this is something that we don’t want to do okay this is why if

You’re somebody who has a history of taking the club under the plane that’s because there’s too much lower body movement in the first movement which um if I demonstrate like Lim is this kind of move which we don’t want so you want to make sure there’s a little bit of

Wrist hinge and then from there you want to try and practice just doing some upper body separations I sometimes find this when you’re doing this in postures can feel a little awkward but if you sort of just stand up and turn your upper body it’s actually quite a

Relatively easy move and then if you sort of do that and then go into your posture you’ll notice how comfortable it actually is to get into that sort of takeway movement yes the last little bit um is the right arm just being allowed to fold okay so this is a key thing that

I have been trying to encourage Lynn to do um exactly oh my God I know you got decapitated so um what we don’t want is the right arm to be too straight because if the right arm is too straight um then what happens is you’re basically going

To close the club and then you’re going to have to because then the argument would be well you could do that here and then you could open it at the top but if I’m honest with you there’s no point you might as well it here and the reason why

Is because one that’s now a really good position to Chip and Pitch from and two from there all you got to do is lift your arms a little bit as you turn and you’re in a really good position and the big thing that you don’t want to do which that’s the

Perfect what you don’t want to do in the GOL swing is is let your hands get too close to you because then your right arm gets stuck and you can’t release so you want to have this feeling which is that extensive Force outward feeling gravity

Fit Pro yes like so and then from there you see you can turn the other way and then you can be nice and wide this position okay so that is absolutely care if I can just uh uh yes here oh yeah I was yeah sorry l i was yeah so

It’s here and then what I’m basically saying is once you’ve got to this position you can get the sense that your hands and arms are always applying like that amount of force outward as you turn and that will get you into a really nice back swing position and then from there

You’ll find it much easier to deliver the club in the down swing good

  1. Another helpful vid. Why is it that whenever i tell a chick that she is getting ridiculously wide it doesnt end well for me.

  2. I think it would really help without the left sleeve to actually see the elbow position if that makes sense

  3. Somebody should have told Sam Snead not to turn his hips on the backswing so fast, just think how good he could have been with Russell’s help 😂
