PING has just released the new s159 wedge line, advancing wedge performance with more versatility and options to fit different playing styles. I recently learned more about the technology behind these wedges and wanted to share some key details.
The 8620 carbon steel heads are cast for a square, clean look at address. They also have an elastomer insert behind the face for a soft, solid feel on shots. The improved hosel transition blends smoothly into PING’s Blueprint irons.
One standout feature is the wheel-cut grooves, precision-milled for more spin and control. The higher lofted wedges (54-62 degrees) have tightly spaced MicroMax grooves, while the lower lofts (46-52 degrees) are milled wider to maximize groove volume for shots from the fairway. Combined with the face texture, this advanced groove design really optimizes launch and spin.
Now here’s where it gets fun – the s159 line comes in six different sole grinds! From the versatile mid-bounce S and T options, to the forgiveness-focused W grind, to the brand new half-moon H grind and shallow-bounce B grind. In total, there are 25 loft/grind combinations available.
The two new PING Wrx grinds look really interesting. The H grind helps golfers with steeper attacks manipulate the face through softer conditions. And the B grind sits low to the turf for maximum versatility and performance from tight lies and firmer turf.
No matter your wedge game strengths and weaknesses, there seems to be an s159 option to match. And with the choice of a Chrome or Midnight finish to match your aesthetic preferences, these are sharp-looking weapons for scoring.

I think this year with this being released now I think this one could be slightly different because I think this looks really really sweet on the back little bit of detailing little bit more classic clean bit like I’ve said before with the blueprint T and the S irons
They just look phenomenal I think ping have really gone to town with their players clubs and I think if you put the wedges in that that bracket as well I think they’ve created a family of product that really is going to go well together
