This is the second half of the discussion begun in the last video. In this clip, I demonstrate how vital late arm tension is in creating the most powerful and efficient whipping effect. Training your brain with The Method will help you feel the leverage required to know when to both grip the disc tightly, and when to use your throwing arm to add power to it.

All right so let’s watch this mechanism in action when it’s all properly aligned I’m going to do a couple of quick dry swings just to kind of get the idea of what I’m intending to do to feel that mechanism wind up and unload down the line it’s just so quick so crisp so

Balanced everything just flows across the brace so now I take an light a disc cradle it lightly barely holding it and then when the disc is accelerating I feel the tension on my fingertip I bear down on that and it’s all going at the same time and the whole

Mechanism just rips the disc out of my hand get a little bit a little bit early you do have to train your brain to Bear Down really really hard the harder you can actually grip the disc when it’s getting heavy the longer your hand can hold it and apply pressure and energy

Until it just rips out of your fingers so you can’t it does affect the trajector a little bit but the longer you can feel that tugging leverage out to the release point and the farther in front of your body the disc goes the faster it’s going to go and the more

Energetic it’s going to be so powerful That Swing is just unreal it feels like I’m swinging a like 15 lb hammer out in front of my body out here that’s where the leverage point is I don’t know how fast these are it’s hard to use a speedometer underground

Um but just and honestly I’m not even throwing full power I’m only taking one step and I’m not even really going that hard on the big Power engine of the of the right quad which is the thing that actually generates a huge amount of force I’m sure at least if I had to

Guess 60 70% of the energy in the swing is coming from this mechanism the standing up thing the thing that’s so integral to how method 2.0 works just insane how powerful that feels my whole body is braced against a disc all the energy in my entire core my

Right leg my arm everything pushing into it even this side just insane Force production the thing that allow this to happen loose grip guys power grip no no that’s a bad thing loose grip you just cradle the disc you cradle the disc if it comes out early it comes out early

But if you don’t grip tightly it allows the rest rest of your body to be loose power grip can come later right thereo exhausting anyway a demonstration of something fundamentally important in the progress of learning proper backhand form and specifically all the methodology of the method grip the disc

Loose as you can possibly manage as you learn let there be no tension let your arm be a floppy noodle that your trailing leg whips around and you’ll understand it’s so fast and the results speak for themselves so much more to come thanks for watching

  1. Thanks for the videos, Brian. Came for the EDH gameplay and deck techs, stayed for the disc golf form tips!
