Basketball uh dick we have the Super Bowl week I called the radio to see if they’d send us to Vegas they won’t send us to Liberty and uh so we’ll talk some Super Bowl after that uh we’ll do NCA basketball we had Duke Carolina this week which is always great and the NBA
Trade deadline is about 20 hours away yeah about 20 hours away and Jeff gler will call in with his picks uh his picks his uh projection J his thoughts and I do think the Knicks are going to do something we we’ll get to it shortly we have to worry about the Brunson injury
Last night hopefully he’s okay it looks like he is Dick you played golf today um which is incredible that you played golf what two months after knee replacement two months yeah two months after knee replacement did it help your game didn’t hurt it didn’t hurt it and uh Dick’s philosophy is as long

Class uh Triple A we’ll start at the top with triple A yeah Ron kelder is doing an amazing job this year uh they have Kon thorw leading them and I think he is like leading the way for the player of the year candidate at this point he’s
Averaging 18 five points per game uh just scored his thousand point last week um senior senior senior very Shifty guard I mentioned him before I love his game uh I talked to Ron today he had a big win in overtime at Monroe that was a huge win um but they have uh Elijah
Abrams with 18 points a game Derek constants with 13 points a game Brad Gardner with 12 very deep as Kingston team uh senior late team or uh yeah okay yep yep lot of is this the type of a team that if they get through section 9 can perhaps cause some damage in the
State tournament I think they could go I think they could go you know they depends on kante but they have a lot of support you know behind him um so yeah so Kingston is right now 13 and three five and one in their league they’re they’re going to be the number one seed
Only three teams are going to be in in the Triple A uh Middletown is out Pine Bush is out um they’re young rebuilding they’re going to be back strong but uh it looks like King Monroe NFA Monroe is 13 and three also so I’m sorry how does
That work King Kingston gets a Buy Kingston would get a buy and Monroe would play NFA the winner plays Kingston for the section nine tripa title the two seed would host the three and then Kingston would go right to the chip at like where is it at Mount St Mary’s I

Who’s the most surprising team in douville um Washingtonville is tough they have a kid named Aiden Sullivan who can play inside and out soft touch he’s a junior he can shoot it I mean he can post he’s he’s a he’s a strong kid uh and so yeah
I I if you don’t mind me jumping in I think warwicks are surprised too based on all they lost last year I saw them at your place last year and they you w I think it was overtime you go down the wre they were very good and most of them
Kids are gone we got a we got a lucky TI in by my big guy at the end and it could have went the other way so Joe Mack does an amazing job yeah I think that they’re a surprise too I didn’t mean to jump in
No no listen Joe Mackey’s a great coach and he runs some really good sets he does he gets him well prepared y uh in the a we have Port Jervis at nine and8 uh Beacon at8 and seven and Liberty 6 and 11 newa 11 and3 I think new Pauls beat
Lords um if I’m not mistaken they did they did Big Win for new yes uh Kaden dones with two 30-point Gamers close to it uh that sophomore guard is really really tough Kaden D um and so yeah new Paul is 11 and three six and one in
Their league and then Red Hook nine and4 six and one in their league in the B you have Burke 12- one seven and0 in their in their league Tri Val what’s that who’ll beat Burke I believe they just got beat like last Chester did Chester beat Burke maybe

On the girl side Ashley maalla became the youngest in Middletown history to score a th Point as a freshman I’m not sure if she’s the youngest in New York state how many games we have to look that up figure 20 a year figure seventh grade eighth grade I think she a thousand from
Seventh seventh eth and this is her nth I was confused no but you also played on The Varsity all this time it’s not like but I was thinking she had a thousand this year no no no no no no no the bars but to do it in three it’s great as a
Freshman um like I said she’s got major division one offers she’s she’s a great girl um some players to watch that I wanted to mention um was uh Whatchamacallit uh Rudy Cherry is a sophomore Middletown I wanted to bring his name up because you don’t see too many three sport athletes anymore and
And I was talking to the baseball coach and they said he has division one Talent as a sophomore uh this kid plays baseball he plays football as his second sport basketball is his third sport just went up to Kingston and scored 20 points as a sophomore uh just remember his name
Because in a couple years this kid and he’s the nicest kid what grad great student sophomore Rudy Cherry his father played basketball in Middletown he was a good athlete so uh I wanted to get him give him a shout out um and I also have some some other local stuff Don Bosco 16
And three just went down to Florida in the city of and beat IMG Academy which was a huge win that’s a tremendous win and they might have two future NBA players we all know Dylan Harper’s down there son of Ron Harper who played with Michael Jordan um but they have a 10th
Grader 7 foot one from Columbia uh caner asarela I hope I’m saying it right seven foot one kid he’s turning he’s dunking has a sophomore at 71 he better be able to dunk yeah yeah but he’s athletic I mean he’s not you know he’s and he’s a sophomore sophomore yeah he’s got a
Little ways to go as a basketball player but he’s athletic and he you can’t teach he no exactly sure can’t you got it yep uh Sunni orange who’s playing right now as we speak right up the street they’re 18 and four now they go up to Sullivan
February 20th it’s goingon to be a great game always is and a lot of local talent there Maris Gil from Middletown is leading the way with 16 points a game Jaden Rutland from Goan 10 points a game you got Matt Shay from walkill 14 points
A game just a stud uh he plays inside and out they have the George pastes from Newberg 14 points a game and Jared Smalls with eight assists per game who’s leading the nation in junior college and assists so I tell you a gets I give him
Credit because he gets a lot of local talent the Sullivan do the same or does Sullivan no Sullivan gets their kids from the city yeah yeah rarely do they have AAL a loc unless he’s really good and uh the other thing but just a little kick back to Orange the pesis kid from
Newberg who’s been very unsung even in high school you didn’t hear too much of him but he’s kind of the glue for this team I mean he offensive rebounds he defensive rebounds he could really pass uh and he’s uh he’s he’s a really good player he he does the things they get a
Lot of scorers but he does the things to to get them over the hump really good I know ox’s home tonight maybe their next home game you and I go uh yeah I think they play no I’ll be gone I think for the next home but maybe if we can get a
I’ll be back for a regional game I think I definitely want to try and get up to that one at Sullivan that’s always a great environment those fans get get pretty loud uh and one more is Sunni new 17 and5 their best season in in a long
Long time uh probably the last time was when Keith Kenny was actually playing for New Pauls um but he’s doing a great job as head coach 17 and5 they have local players too or um where they recruit from they do have a minent kid who who Who’s who’s a kinsky who I think
Is averaging 15 points he’s from minin he’s tough they might have a Washingtonville kid I’m not sure if he didn’t graduate or not but um but he definitely recruits the area Keith he looks around you had mentioned before we went on a and we’re not going to mention
The kids names or anything like that but there’s been some kids ejected and some suspended is that what what what was the kid ejected for uh okay you’re talking about Monroe and that was a overtime uh game it was Kingston it was Monroe and it was uh Jean Carlo Mendoza I I think
It was just uh you know it was over celebratory after after a three-pointer uh there was some hand gestures tapping or something and and and and I think there was that was his second technical of the game so I think he was ejected um that hurts he’s a great player super
Skilled Monroe is having an awesome year what’s the rule you ejected you can’t play the next game if you get two technical yeah you don’t play the next game right but I think that just and I don’t know how you guys feel about it but

Basketball with a couple of referees I was told today that two high school players are poed one of the referees in the parking lot after the game uh not not physically not physically but it turned into where I think uh they to call security what that the team is forting
Tonight or tomorrow night against somebody it’s amazing you see it all the time and you saw the thing with Matt Barnes on the court the other night yeah I mean yeah come on let the kids play the game the parents ruin it and then you watch ESPN and these kids learn to

Was nominated as the flag coach of the year in 2023 and so it’s just it’s awesome to see my daughter played flag football last year at Goan they had a team it was fun to watch that was old school yeah yeah so big shout out to Vanessa teer and Mike terer doing big

Have a chance to get into the play in the playoffs and maybe make a run is that something that holds back a lot of these trades I and I think there’s something to that there are definitely a lot of teams uh a lot more teams that have a
Shot at uh at making it and it really comes down to each organization’s where where they’re at you know for example like like the Bulls people have been trying to pull assets away from the Bulls you know for the last few weeks and what I’m hearing is that the Bulls
Feel like you know they they want to keep things together because uh they they feel like they’re G to they’re going to shoot up and not only be like maybe a playing team they they may rise as far as six do they feel that same way after losing LaVine for the season yeah
I don’t know yeah they do they do uh in fact that’s what they’re what I read is that that’s what they’re telling teams uh about that are inquiring about like D rozan um you know there are some teams I think have checked in on Cody white who’s having a pretty good season and
Even Drummond it seems like you know the Bulls have uh v vuich as their Center but but it’s apparently they’re they’re asking like three Twos for Andre Drummond uh so you know I think unless they are blown away it sounds to me like the Bulls are kind of going to make a
Push to try to you know go up the ladder in the playoff picture Okay um let’s talk about you know let’s let’s you want to get right to the Knicks or do you want to talk about other teams I mean there some minor well go over there were
Some minor moves today go over what some of those were uh a couple moves today uh the t-wolves picked up Monte moris which is a good move which is a very solid move kind of insurance I if you look at the history of Mike Connelly who I feel is an excellent point guard
Uh that you know whether it be on this team or Utah or the Grizzlies and he’s and he’s getting up there in age so he’s historically has broken down at some point and so there’s no reason to think that he might not break down and I think
Monte moris is a really solid point guard I’ve watched a lot of him on the Nuggets uh over the years so yeah great move the other move that that uh was today was uh I think uh the the kid from Utah who’s the Italian kid from Utah was
Was um was moved to the Piston yeah uh I can’t pronounce name name but but it’s a small move he’s a restricted free agent the guy is lethal from three but what it what it might signal is even though he’s not close to the same player it might
Signal that maybe Detroit is is at least in discussions to M perhaps move B bogdanovich okay which would be someone that we would be interested in do the Lakers can the Lakers do anything I mean I guess you could say the Lakers could do whatever they want because the league
Kind of cowtails to them but is there anything on that you feel the Lakers are going to be able to accomplish well but you you you slipped in a little comment there that I think is important about the league cow and them they the rich Paul is the agent basically for the
Entire team and Rich Paul has an enormous amount of power and he’s able to leverage that power to make teams do things they probably wouldn’t ordinarily do for promises and Goodwill down the road so last year we were having the same discussion the Lakers made a flurry
Of moves at the deadline and really improved themselves and and no one thought that they had any assets to do it and they wound up you know picking up some really important pieces I think that the same is true now although it’s lessen to the last few days they’ve
Started to see the D’Angelo Russell they were hoping to see early you know when they resigned him and he’s played really well lately and the reality of it is that other than like a other than like a Deonte Murray who you know from at least
What’s out there is by far and way the most talented player on the market there really isn’t much that’s going to move the needle for the for the Lakers um you know they they are they did take a big hit with Jared Vanderbilt going down because he was their best perimeter
Defender um but you know they the the need for the Lakers to make a move has seemed to have lessened but LeBron is still putting his foot on Rob Pink’s neck uh trying to make sure that they do something so I I would anticipate they make maybe at least a minor move to
Strengthen the bench okay can I can I ask you a question Jeff every week I hear or every day almost I hear about javante going somewhere I mean it seems like every team in the league seems to be involved with him and he’s not going anywhere it
Appears uh it it you know I don’t I’m not sure I watch a lot of Clips on him I watch parts of hawks games uh he’s a very talented player oh I know he is oh I know he is and and not only that uh he
Signed an extension that I think it you know uh annually it make he makes he’s going to be making somewhere starts next year and he’s going to be making somewhere between 25 and 30 million which I think is a pretty reasonable contract for him he’s a two-way player
Now he may not be a fit for a lot of teams because he he needs the ball in his hand a little more and maybe he just doesn’t work out next to Trey young because Trey young is very bold dominant but you know yes he he and he’s and he’s
A young guy he’s 26 27 years old um I think there’s probably a handful of teams that are interested in him the Lakers were certainly one of them but they were not move they’re not willing to put Austin Reeves in any deal from what I understand um so you know there
Is a pretty good chance if I’m the Hawks if I don’t get exactly what I want for him then why not hold on to them the Hawks aren’t going anywhere hold on to him and maybe you can move him in the off season if you think you can find a
Better fit next to Trey Young do the Knicks have to move Evan fornier no they do not have to move Evan fornier is well here’s where I’m confused you do that every week thank you what did he what did he do he he drops his uh soda every week like like
Clockwork um if the Knicks don’t tra it’s a here’s my question if the Nicks don’t trade fornier isn’t it a waste no explain okay Evan fornier has a they have a team option for next year oh so they can renew the option next year if they so so

His contract because the Knicks still have whether you know assuming that they don’t make a big trade here and I don’t think there is a big trade dejonte Murray would be the only big trade that would be out there at this point from what I see although there is some kind
Of talk with Detroit about getting Burks and Jaden Ivy which would be that would be off the charts but you know dejonte if short of dejonte Murray they need Evan forer’s contract to you know if they’re making a trade for a big star they need that contract so obviously
It’s a team option on forier not a play it’s a team option it’s a team option and the thought is that they will pick it up uh they will pick it up if they don’t move him by the deadline they’re not gonna buy him out and let him go so
You don’t think there’s no hope for Andre uh Drummond to be in the blue and orange huh no I don’t I I don’t I mean I don’t think we need him Isaiah harste coach is playing great the way some of these guys are going down
And we’re in you know we’re into the uh the dog days as they say I you know I just think we needed some scoring at that position well I don’t think Drummond gives you the scoring though I think he gives you the rebounding but I also think you can’t have him on the
