Today’s podcast is first debuts goals agents uh SIDS has an unbelievable story about hitchhikers uh and jera fo confirms whether he’s won the lottery or not hello and welcome to that Peter Crouch podcast with me Peter Crouch got the notorious Sid with me and uh and Chris Stark uh everyone okay really good

Yeah yeah really good well had a good weekend great um fighting fit yeah January been good been healthy also had a few drinks so it’s a nice blend was there any New Year’s resolutions for you said so or not uh I mean I it was to go

A little bit healthy I’m not going to lie I’ve got a little paret tire that just you know you know inflated up around here many puddings yeah uh I felt like I was 7even months pregnant really I just had that little that bold so yeah I was just you

Know being good and you know i’ got a nice little balance at the moment so so oh here to you that’s lovely to hear a S Health heal it’s good healthy SIDS is a happy SIDS 100% no that’s that’s good um obviously we’re now in this new setting

We’re in this Pub that you so wonderfully have created Pete uh there’s been a few suggestions for names for it as well some good ones some good ones I don’t know if we want to choose one of these today or if we want to rumble it

On a little bit but thank you so much to everyone that has sent suggestions obviously if you’re just listening to this you’re not aware of this we’ve got this new kind of Pub that we’re in now um but it’s made from scratch so we can

Name it we can do whatever we want with it it’s our rules really um so first thing the most important thing I think is to get a decent name how about this sadly I haven’t got the name of the person who sent this one in the lanky

Arms it’s fantastic it’s true it’s so good it’s true very very I like it a lot uh this one was from Thomas on Instagram I saw I really liked it the three three buggers oh that’s good that’s good but you got to say it in the Aussie accent as well the three

Buggers it’s quite I think it’s nice because it you’re right it lends itself to a bit more of a walkabout Vibe doesn’t it bit okay little aie bar yeah um and I saw this one from Connor on Tik Tok I really like it it’s just the Pud

In oh the Pud in which which is quite good yeah so I think if anyone can challenge that let us know peter. Crouch a c.com or Instagram Tik Tok get into the comments there and I think we should settle them I think you’ve got to choose one sometime soon Crouch they good put

In yeah is fantastic very good yeah very good all all three of them are very good I like that okay yeah very good well that that can rumble on then um question for you boys uh and I guess especially you Pete I was listening to Andy

Goldstein in the week or it pops up on social I don’t know if it was an old clip but it was him talking about Jermaine defo and a rumor that he won7 million pounds on the lottery M I heard this rumor well recently yeah you not heard this rumor going around no yeah

Yeah yeah I did hear it is this true yeah so there’s cuz I remember I got I got him I got him on um I was interviewing him for it wasn’t even this podcast remember what it was and I did ask him but like I quite like the the

Rumor I mean it’s it’s well I saw the clip there was the annoying thing in a way about the clip is Andy Goldstein was discussing it with Darren bent and Darren bent’s point was footballers don’t really talk about money and he Andy was right in my opinion going like

Yeah but if he’s won7 million pound on the lottery he’s probably mentioning right no but did you if I mention if I won s mil right I think it’d be like I think you’d get a lot of hate it’d be like oh but you’ve done so you know you’ve done well in

Life and I think you’d get a bit of grief but if you kept it quiet and just read about your business and and just like you know bought kind of nice things that you might have had anyway yeah you could probably get away with it you definitely get away with but you don’t

Think you’d know if right just so let’s say what a player you play with turns up at the training ground and they’ve won 7 million on the lottery you wouldn’t tell like if if any one of us turned up at work or if anyone turned up in their

Office and had won 7 million on the lottery you probably would know right yeah but if J the thing is if you rolled up here like in a Rolls-Royce i’ I’d go what’s happened with Chris here yeah whereas if J the F you’d go well he

Did have a football career for for ages you know I mean they can hide it a lot you know mean you would so I the thing is with Jermaine defo you’re saying a 7 million pound to Jermaine defo is like throwing a sausage down a hallway I’m

Love saying that I’m love saying that no because it would change I think it would change his life especially after football but I think you wouldn’t necessarily like could hide it yeah he could they could hide it a lot more than he was holiday go you know he was flying

In business or I don’t know he was whatever he was doing things that Jermaine defo kind of done I mean it wouldn’t be so that’s what Darren B was saying is that the money side of things you wouldn’t necessarily notice because it’s Jermaine defo it wouldn’t be unusual if you turned up in

A car so my question to you is do you think he’s won7 million pound in the lottery in your opinion and secondly can we can we get this sold once and for all today can you just drop him a text I’ll just footb don’t talk about

Money but I think if someone won it during their career I mean everyone’s different I wouldn’t say I’d I’d want it I wouldn’t go to the dressing room go lad I’ve won 7 million C you can’t believe it I would I I would

Do it are you ATT to call him or is it a text you think uh I’m GNA should I just text him or should I just call him I think the call would be amazing what about voice though yeah yeah Jay’s crowd sheet uh yeah believe it or not I’m doing the podcast

Again um I know you’ve been wrot since this numerous occasions um have you won the lottery and have you won 7 million quick answer on a voice that would be great love you great such a strange rumor isn’t it have you won I’m just lit have you won 7 million I even said

Hello I love to love you at the end as well but what if he has and he’s kept this a secret all his life right and he has a if it’s a no is that the best rumor in current circles doing the rounds with footballers and maybe there

Something started they can’t be smoked Without fire that’s what I’m saying what a bizarre thing to start and maybe he can help elaborate but we should do this feels dangerous as well an episode on rumors and just settle them you know phone we can do we can we’ve got a great

Team of people here what we could do is go like the rumor is this person dot dot and then if you boys haven’t got a direct contact one of us will be able to get to someone who knows them right and we’ll settle them throughout the episode

Boys uh great news as well Gladiators is back oh yeah how good is that have you seen it yeah yeah it’s uh exactly the same it’s brilliant same theme tune same theme tune um we’ve got uh who’s the ref it’s well not the same referee but it’s

Mark CL I haven’t seen it yet but it says exactly the same words yeah in strangely enough a Scottish X him he sort of borders into what I the same it was a little bit yeah and he says exactly you think they just change it’s so nostalgic it’s hard but

People won’t like it if you change too much so he goes gladi seen he doesn’t say he loves showing it doesn’t he yeah Gladiator does he yeah on my first whistle and all that does he do that’s all he does there’s no if you think about it like you you can there’s so

Many rules in football right Gladiators is absolute piss for him you don’t need a referee there’s three of them I think there’s three referees he’s got assistance with them and everything I’m not totally sure what they do so the line they do they sort of stand on the

Sign of the gauntlet and things like that you think that’s actually his team like from what do you think when he got off of the job he’s like yeah but I don’t go without my team maybe if there’s got to be a celebrity one coming up you’re up for it aren’t you

I don’t know I yeah suppose it I’d do it do you know who I think should do it Wayne Bridge yeah oh yeah he’s like imagine him against the Gladiators end the show end it do you reckon end the show I mean there’s something in this if

We could if we could sort Way Wayne Bridge into Gladiators that could be phenomenal you say you say can you sort it I do know the the person that produces it text him right there voice noted right there let’s get the voice right let’s get it away let’s let’s get

Let’s get business done today sh she’s there a celebrity gladiator’s pending would I just voice not him as well yeah you’re going for the producer yeah yeah got straight I love him what I’m This Is How We Roll yeah yeah Dan just recording the podcast um Wayne Bridge

Celebrity Gladiators needs to happen get back to me Saap get [ __ ] done AR we do you know what I mean the just you say it we’ll make it [ __ ] happen you actually so said like an agent as well didn’t you let’s make it happen get this [ __ ] done today is get sh done let’s do it throughout this episode we’ll get [ __ ]

Done okay uh just talk on the talk of getting [ __ ] done sha Murphy [ __ ] yes or no oh what was this CU I saw you pile into the whatsappp so mad is that we discussed you pulled it up hole in one 1479 da we discussed that randomly

On the last podcast and then all of a sudden it feels like it’s blown up everywhere like people are discussing it and Shaw Murphy’s come out and said I have done them all so this is this is the snooker player Shawn Murphy yeah yeah but he’s done at least wait so he’s

Done the 147 yeah obviously yeah professional super player but what I think that what cuz no one who’s not a professional super player can do that 147 I don’t think but I do think you can do a nine da if you’re not professional and I also think you can do a hole in

One if Jo there’ll be good amateurs who can do a 147 must be yeah but I think I I think we’ve established that the 147 is the hardest I think yes Sean whether you think it’s more or not has said that the dart B doesn’t move

The darts don’t you know what I mean I think whereas there’s so many variables in a snooker table just on that one quickly are we saying that every Pro snooker players had a 147 yeah must have surely how how no I don’t know serious adquate you’d feel but not not in a not

In a every golfer had a ho every pro golfer had a hole in one well Reon there’s people out there that haven’t no but every pro golfer I’d like to yeah cuz some Pro go some or no I’m saying any we’re saying a hole in one could be

In any all right okay yeah I’ll say so no probably they’ve H enough golf balls yeah because Shawn Murphy’s not going to be to no one’s going to be able to do all three on the world stage no do you see what I mean because they’re going to

Be experts in one sport so you have to allow even if I think it’s just got to be in any scenario I think talking reasonably we’re talking about a hole in one from a decent distance though you know can’t just go down to top top golf one a real one yeah he’s

Got on our local golf club we’re we’re members of he’s got his name on the bench so so if you get hold in one your name goes on the bench I mean I don’t know how to talk about it but if you want to go into it more his his name is

On the bench but what I love about that is in 100 years time when we’re all not here anymore yeah Steve sidw will be on on that bench you’ll get a bench as well your name will be on a bench but you just like it for sporting reasons rather

Than just uh people sitting on you and you know like where you you’re younger and you get off with someone in the local park kind of thing yeah on your bench on my bench my dog’s got a bench in p Park when when he died we got him a

Bench seriously still there yeah still there yeah so if you want to go anyone who been par I don’t want to do that down but well that bit of a weird thing to get a dog isn’t it well he like he loved that little part he loved he would

Never sit on a bench would he no but we would sit there and think and look at him run I didn’t do it my dad did it no it’s I’m not saying sorry mate it’s really sad it’s quite upset for me get it’s just you’re going to get PS

For this why no coming for my dead dog no I’m not coming for the dog Pete I’m saying that’s really sad literally coming for my dead dog I’m actually not he Chang of his voice everything I’m really sorry for your lost what I’m saying sorry for your lost no but what

I’m saying is what why the like I get it with a bench cuz it’s if someone’s passed away it’s a bit like oh they used to love coming to this park sit here and’ watch the pond or whatever the dog I don’t know like used

To like the river as well what you want me to like call the river like Buster that’s what I mean like it just I can’t the only thing I could do I mean bit like if I died and you got me a kennel do you know what I mean I’ve

Never used a kennel you get what I mean but the thing is it was it was in his place of enjoyment there’s there’s something in there that we can enjoy as humans and think of it while we sit get um Steve just on your um hole in one I

Was glad we can get back on to that one what I’m going to do here is just make a list of what we’ve all achieved on this because if we’re actually going to go and try and compete it why you draw it like a big like long line as if we what

Have you got hole in one no 147 nine darts no so none I’m the same as you Pete now what have you got Steve I’ve got a hole in one you’ve got a hole in one yeah yeah n d not yet and so out the three of us from the

Graph that I’ve made here Steve probably stands the best chance of competing for the other two yeah yeah well I honestly think I can I no I’m not going to say it you think you can do it n yeah no what you going to say with practice I reckon

I could yeah do you think you could do it before Christmas yeah okay but that’s that’s massive so by got I’m gonna get my D board up now I’m GNA get it up I want to go for it but what the thing is with it we’d have to we’d have to work

Out a way that we could constantly film it yeah see what I mean yeah there there’s because there is Ane a huge element of trust 47 is out of the question do you think oh yeah come on I think it’s I think it’s off the table the Shawn Murphy argument though is if

If we’re saying that’s the toughest one it’s conceivable that he could throw nine data and do a in one like he’s done the hard part almost agree with that if anyone’s got a chance doing it it’s a snooker player so do we need maybe someone to get in touch unless you know

Someone Pete that we can voice note now who’s done a 147 but is willing to spend good time doing the other two on behalf of the podcast because the other idea we could do is there might be someone listening who’s um you know needs a bit

Of sort of weekend work that kind of thing maybe we could just pay them a modest hourly rate to attempt this on behalf of the podcast and prove if it can happen or not I’m sure there’ be a lot of takers it’s a good idea yeah it’s

Not the worst idea is it it’s quite a fun J so what you’re saying to me is there any is there anyone out there who has a 147 yeah and then is willing at our expense to go for the nine data and the hole in one just to proove and maybe

Be the first person to have actually done it other than sha Murphy you’re G to get a lot of takers on that yeah a lot okay well there’s a lot of people going I can do that I know that’s why I just thought Sh all right then Lads let’s crack on with the Pod we talk about firsts today um yeah how did you lose your virginity was it’s not that I thought that was come a little bit later on yeah like I was thinking debuts first goals first injury first you know F like

There’s a lot things in football where you know sure for your first time it’s it’s kind of a it’s a huge breakthrough and it’s you know I remember when i’ when I’ve when I played my first professional game I was like oh you know

Where does it go from here or is this it you don’t know do you it’s just so exciting and we’ve talked about quite a few of those stories even like your first flat the inflatable furniture all of that kind of stuff like the figuring out we haven’t dug down with you on that

SIDS really what was talk us through some of the that those moments where you really it sort of crept in the money started coming in a bit there was you know the professionalism but you’re still young so it’s like a kid with money situation first flat first car

Let’s go let’s let’s start with like first contract and first game professional game first professional contract first professional game okay so first professional contract was Arsenal uh I was 18 and I signed remember to Victor London Victoria so I few the boys went with their agents and I was like no I’m

Not going to go on my agent I’m just going to go in on my own because I was only 18 and uh Liam Brady sat down and he like right we’re GNA give you 750 quid a week and uh you’ve done really well over the last couple of years so

We’re going to give you a 20,000 um sign on bonus well better than my one £10,000 for each for for a two-year deal um and that was it I think it was 750 for the first year 950 for the second year and that was it I was

Like all right perfect good when you at arsenal were you still live in your mom and dad yeah so your first house was ring and he moved first house was reading yeah I was still when I was a pro at Arsenal I was still basically still getting a train yeah because it

Was easier to get to London County rather than driving around the M25 but you were you were at your your family home yeah I was at M and Dad’s house yeah I was even I was in QPR um in the first team I was still with Mom and

Dad’s cuz it was so local it was only when I went to Ports I I kind of moved out I didn’t have no reason to move I mean I’ve been with my wife now since we’ had been at school so we’ve been going out since we was 13 so

And then when I moved to readin uh we bought a little free bed um semi detached it was nice where was that in reading or in Reading yeah yeah I was originally driving around car sharing me Nikki Forster uh John Sarco and Steve Brown three older Pros we all chipped in

And we bought a Ford Mond great here we go here we go I was hoping it’ be a foro we CH a Ford mono and you mean all bought it so you’ve all got enough money where you could each so we live around the same area I know but

I’ve never heard of a group of friends buying one car no that’s happened a lot we done that we we done that uh at Stoke um I don’t know why I never thought of doing that with my mates that feels kind of Genius well especially if you’re all

Going to the same place yeah well I was the youngster at the time so I was like 1920 and these were three senior Old Pros and I just kind of followed suit and uh we some Journeys were crazy we’d pick up hitchhikers just for what you actually picked up a hitchhiker have you

Bought them to train can you imagine being a hitchhiker right and getting in the car we’ve got Steve Sidwell Nicki sha and John Salo yeah we used to yeah just for the crack we used to you used to see him on the side of the like the M4 but were you

Searching for them was it like you’d go out see one we just go should we just stick him in the bag oh my God was there was there one particular moment where you you had to chat this fell like what was he like what was he

Like what was his Vibe the the majority of them were what do you mean majority of them no no no the majority of them he’s a Serial hitchhiker Traveler wow oh I’m sweating no so the majority of of them you know the ones that deliver cars you the people deliver yeah they

Deliver them and then they they hav them got one yeah yeah so yeah so basically they’re paid on delivery so they deliver the car and then it’s they they can pay their like their train fair to get back but that eat into their um earnings so

They try and hitchike back do they yeah have seen never even heard of this I didn’t know that either did you not no makes sense what you’re saying but I just so normally people think hitchhikers of like you know homeless stragglers just trying to get from A to B which

The a lot I just didn’t know this pod was going to go down this R so anyway we used to pick up a variety of hitchhikers wow um any any standout one I remember one there was uh there was I think his name was Clive this

Fell he had AIG beard and he just went to get from a to be the majority of them had beards well what was his story so he was what just thumb up on the motorway was he he just had like yeah so we obviously trained at reading and we was

Driving back towards sorry so we’d go sort of M4 or M3 it was the M4 your sort of that was the corridor if you want to hear so you had all finished training right get into a car and and part of the fun was who can we pick up on the way

Back towards what was Clive like what was his what was his story C just uh he just he just uh he wasn’t a car delivery man no he just had it rough he just wanted to get somewhere he just wanted to get back towards London

Yeah I think he was at Bristol when he had to get back to see someone so we picked him up and remember where he dropped two off we just dropped him off on a hard shoulder on the M25 cuz we obviously were going bit that’s the game is

Got go again go I don’t know Cardiff players on the next bit of it coming back towards no one realized who he was so it wasn’t as if he’s got in the kind of gone yeah yeah yeah they they just didn’t know get it is like oneoff it it’s the

Quantity scientist that’s a bit odd so you’d assume personas occasionally you’d you’d go like what should we be today you could imagine it was just a bit of a boring ride yeah you know every day it was just that can we just entertain ourselves and we’ we’d pick up a few you

Know strugglers you got entertain yourself somehow haven’t you and P picking hit chers up is is one of those that’s one of them it was it was all safe it was all above board we was course you’re helping them on their way you know and as you say your seat belts

On and all of that yeah I’m sure yeah standard that but so you all shared a car and um and then who kind of where where did it live where did this car uh with some uh I think Steve Brown need to take it home cuz he lived the furthest

Steve Brown was the center half yeah I played with him yeah good lad brownie yeah he was good so it was Nicki forar Steve Brown myself did you name the car no I didn’t have a name for the car it was it was a it was it got it turned

Into a [ __ ] he really yeah you have to clean it out um there’d be all sorts in there uh so brownie would drive it to his normally and then yeah we was just uh take turns driving we you get out with whoever was driving normally would

You get the petrol and you know if you go in go boys you want anything oh yeah get me this can have a coffee can have this someone would say I would you get me anything that was a green light to get him anything so you just come out

With a windscreen wiper and you just give him that how did the process go of the first transfer like did you have an agent so you’re at Arsenal right yeah so but how did you go to reading a bit strange so I was alone at Brighton and then we played when I was

Alone at Brighton in the championship we played reading in December or November December and then the January window opened and then reading put a bid in to Arsenal which Arsenal accepted and then I had to go and I was like they I got the call and they was

Like listen we’ve accepted a bid from reading so I went back to Arsenal spoke to ARs vanger and Pat rice and just said what’s the story and I said look we’ve accepted a bid if you want to stay we can offer you a new new terms on a new

Contract but we would advise you to go out and continue your career and go down a step to to come back up and this was a mad Arsenal team at the time I possible to break in the first mad team so I was one of the first ones to leave out of

That whole core of us that come through I was one of the first to leave did you have an agent with you when you spoke to rice and Binger no no on your own but you did have an agent yeah so so how’s the first kind of agent like how do you

Get an agent yeah so I was again a late developer on the agent scene but I think it was just probably because the way that I played again that team that I was in Jerome Thomas Jermaine pennant Jay bids all these sort of easy pleasing on the eye

Players they was getting agents before me so I was one of the last ones uh and I was with him the whole way through my career Eric Walters Eric Walters yeah he was uh I had him when I was like 14 about 15 I was it was just before I signed

Um yts forms at Arsenal and I had him all the way through till I near and I finished yeah I was the same and and he end up in the end he it was like it was that one of my mates it wasn’t a business transaction or anything like

That it was always I knew everything that he done was for the best but how do you choose that first agent boys like is itough is it because I assume there must be a few agents that are obviously on the lookout for people that Rising through the ranks and you’re playing for

Prominent enough teams that you get signed up do they sell you the world did they did they go I guess with you boys it kind of came true with what they said but my my one was B bought me with a a box of Adidas gear um did yeah I

Remember him coming around the house and he brought like the new PRS and like trackies and t-shirts and he’d obviously got got player here that you know just giv us the the standard box that we give to everyone but I couldn’t believe it I was like mold and STS like they’re like 100

Quid I couldn’t believe it I think about how much I ear him now it’s a of an investment isn’t it oh yeah man because because obviously I had I had quite a few moves you know and and I was with him all the way through um but yeah my my agency was

Stell it was Jonathan Barnett and David Messi at the time obviously but they you know gone on to to do multi-million pound deals you know with jaish Gareth Bal Real Madrid you know they they they’re a huge agency back then it was lley King introduced me to them so when

They come and spoke to you who did they have that was oh well we’ve we’ve got X Y and Z any Superstars they so we were only we must have only been about 145 yeah um but lley had had an agent and he was like sponsored by D and you know he

Was getting like bigger thing he was just on the path to be a top player I wasn’t quite on that path so I was like no one approached me to be to be my agent but then um obviously they did and I felt obviously very important they

Came around and met my mom and dad they were very very good with them and they were like well you know it is a good thing there’s you know there’s no there’s no reason I’m not paying them away or anything think it’s only if I do

Well that they’re going to earn money so I thought it might be good to have um but yeah they they they represented at that time Kieran d Ashley Cole um edley King Paulo vanat all the new that that was the cream that was ones who were just coming

Yeah uh but they they they started in cricket I think was the first thing they got into but then realized very quickly that obviously football was where where it was happening have you ever asked him what why you like at that point why did they go for you lley lley um really told

Them about me yeah so so what they do which is really clever is um you know they left someone in their books and they go who’s is there anyone underneath you yeah and players no players right so and if I’m being honest you know I don’t think they’re the the most knowledgeable

About football but they are very knowledgeable about the business side of football um but what what they what they do do is is trust a player’s opinion you know if I saved like this this kid two years down and I’m 16 two years down the kid’s

14 it’s like has he got an agent no put me in front of him you know what I mean and it’s like lley trusted they trusted lley with me um you know previous to that I’m sure they would have trusted Kieran D with with with getting lead Le

You know what I mean and it just passed down like that and you know once you’ve got and also those players you know like they would kind of although lley was in my age group I was like well whatever lley is’s doing you know I mean I I’ll do you know so if

Someone passes it down to you like if I’m playing in the first team and there’s a young lad and I go to I’ve got a great agent you kind of trust them and it’s like well I want to get to where he is and if he’s helped you get there then

Maybe you can help me get there and it’s kind of like a knock on effect did you have a similar thing then no my first agent uh well my only agent throughout Eric was a black he was a black Taxi Driver at the time but met hitchhiking or something

Hitchhiking picked him up one day rob you said that than fake taxi uh no he yeah he was no he was an agent on the he he was dual rolls he was an agent but he was also a black cabby and then when he become further up the

Ladder with an agency he he been the uh the the black TX so um it was kind of a way that he couldn’t go to me this is who I represent this is who we’ve got he was with a company um so and then yeah

We he he ended up going up to base who were now CIA they’ve all joined and um yeah he’s brilliant the hard thing with agents is obviously you don’t you don’t trust them I was lucky that I had my dad as well you know what I mean like I I

Trust him wholeheartedly and he he was better at making business decisions than me so I had an agent and then my dad was questioning the agent I bet he was very suspicious of anyone from that point because he was very and he very businessed switched on right my dad yeah

But like lots of kids out there don’t have that and can get burnt you know what I mean I was lucky that I had someone kind of in between for me um but you know I can see I can see how that goes wrong but the best thing for with

With my agency was was although you know when you when it’s all going well it is very easy to be an agent it’s like you know you got you pick a clubs which one is the best but um you know for me it was like the kind of structure that went

With them it was like you know there was there was financial advisors there was accountants there was um you know people that book holidays for you there’s people that book cars for you there’s people that if you want to go to a bar you can get in do you know what I mean

Like it’s kind of like your whole life was kind of them put in there in their hands especially at that age as well because I imagine a lot of that stuff in terms of how to organize your money and that comes with age and and learning and experience They Don’t Really teach you

At a school which I always find Baff unless it’s changed now but learning about a mortgage or learning about money lesson yeah it would be help you know how to fill in a tax return how to buy a house you know how to insure your car how to do life insurance bills

Set what you pay bills for I know Pythagoras Theorem [ __ ] I know that but you’re right on the on the agency one you know where they go yeah so especially for the youngsters they go well look this is the whole team that we’ve got we’ve got accountants financial advisors we have

These the lifestyle does help right yeah but then as a youngster you go okay it’s brilliant so but it all goes around in circle so when you obviously sign up as a youngster you go yeah can you uh book us a table with sugar Reef or can you

Book us Titanic bar and all them on you don’t even go to the other ones they they’re doing that in the background for like looking after your money then when you start becoming older and wiser then it’s a case of right that sort of section goes and it’s a case of right

Can you put my money from here to there you know instead of booking holiday to IR APPA you’re going can you do one for the family to Disney what was so so your 18 so for your 18th you were at Arsenal yeah so what did you do for your 18th

Birthday yeah do you remember I imagine being 18 years old and playing for Arsenal [ __ ] hell no it’s awesome is it I can’t I can’t remember I done from 18 I don’t remember I remember 21st what was your 18 I Champagne For The First Time give it Charlie bananas and went to [ __ ]

Cafe De Parry Cafe De par Cafe De par imagine that was the place 18 cool yeah my agent had a David had I think it was his uncle that run it whatever so yeah we were I remember I always remember it was kind of my first Venture into like

This Mad World of I remember sitting there and I remember seeing Marcel des and thinking oh my God up there are over there thought off I’ve arrived I’ve cracked it I went I went I shank champagne all night cuz I thought that what you had to

Do and I came home and threw up all over my own bed oh that was terrible idea that does seem Peak football of that I remember um quite a few years ago I kind of been disimilar Agee maybe early 20s um going to Cafe uh de parie for probably the

First and only time and I walked around the corner on the way to the toyset one of the Boo and Nick Nolls was in there Nick in and I thought I’ve made it really how good is it when you walk you see someone the famous it changes

Everything I saw the whole arsenal team in Titanic uh once and that was a kind of like little haunt for us which is just off like glass glass blower Street Glass House street is it like so yeah I remember Titanic then it’s changed now something else now but I remember

Walking in there that and when I say the whole like on the dance floor like I was couldn’t believe what I was saying it was on the Dance Floor every mind Sean Adams Um parlor like I could just the whole team was was having a boogie was that in the hot stuff era as well potentially when they top they when they were top yeah yeah I couldn’t believe it I was like well this is obviously the place we need to go every

Weekend absolutely there was no camera phones was there back then as well you could you know you could let you could go out and just have a relaxing night knowing that nothing’s going to come back question for you boys um sort of first experience around the England

Setup I guess first England game crouchy what would that have been yeah my first England game was a strange like because it was it was an end of season tour to um America yes that’s a mad one and it was actually perfect I think because I

Think if you if you play your first game in a qualifier in England just don’t know it’s quite there a lot pressure on it you know with that it felt like quite a few players pulled out it was kind of like a fresh Squad we were miles out

Kind of in America and it was like end of season so it was like a chance to become an England player before you had you know what I mean so you get the call up and then let’s go from right at the beginning of this let’s go for the

Basics is this first experience getting on a plane with the England team yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah like that’s got to be mad is that private is is that private to go to America as well do you all I’m trying to think I don’t think anyone I can’t remember anyone on it

Yeah you got must have had your own plane I think there was people on it but I think we got it on L and went straight into like our own area do you know what I mean they sectioned off a bit and then and then we when we got off I think we

Might have got off first and onto a bus so like we didn’t see anyone but we were on with people yeah and I don’t even know if they knew that they were on so you all in the England get up and everything like that yeah we were on

Yeah so you look to your left and right who’s who’s yeah well I mean on that I mean the the big hitters on that one was uh the big hits on that one obviously Beckham was on it and Michael Owen um I don’t think Stevie came might

Have been might have been Lampard there because I don’t think Rooney came so L skull Soul Campbell skulls wasn’t there but yeah you know so so a lot of these players weren’t coming to that one there was a few that kind of like you know were in for for like their first time

You know I remember Andrew Johnson being there Kier Richardson who scored I think Zack Knight there was a few like Luke young me you know and Johnson there was a few like kind of Rogue see how they get on kind of thing and I remember playing and I was gutted cuz I remember

Missing the first game against um USA in Chicago uh I remember missing it because I got injured in training day before when I say injured it was just a rolled ankle but it swelled up massively and I thought I’m all right I’m all right I couldn’t get my boot on couldn’t even

Get my boot on I thought I I’m going to be a one cat Wonder was that your fault no I I think I just I can’t remember I think it might have been like Matthew opson I think and it kind of like stood on my ankle and it just went

Under and it just swelled up a bit and I thought I was gutted to like to kind of cuz I thought I’ll just get my two caps and then I’ll retire that’d be great this is my mentality I was thinking but you often describe things

Almost as a bit of Deal or No Deal in that it’s like obviously you you just constantly achieving dreams aren’t you so you just go I’ll accept that one England game don’t give me any more of fine myom and Dad came out um you know Sarah and my sister we all went like

Come out watch these two games cuz this is never going to happen again you know that was my mentality I was like obviously I’ll try but I was like you know [ __ ] hell there’s a lot you know [ __ ] top players out there so yeah that was my mentality really you must so

Upset when you I injured for the first game and [ __ ] thankfully God I started the next one was me and Michael Owen up front Columbia in the Giants stadium Believe it or quite apply the New York stadium do you remember who you were rooming

With no we had rooms on our own oh did you yeah an amazing hotel I think we were in like the we were in uh what was it K like a I want to say like a Four Seasons or it was just off Fifth Avenue anyway in New York and I remember being

In there and obviously my mom and dad were incredibly excited so they they were in my hotel like every day like looking around obviously like Becks I’m like ow in like all these Superstars walking around and they were trying to hold it together and then obviously I

Played and I remember playing me and Michael Owen K it off quite well Michael got a hattick I remember taking a quick free kick and putting him in um for like the second or third one and I knew I’d had a good game and stuff but like Sven

Seemed seemed happy and then um obviously because it was end of season is a bit more relaxed so like everyone was flying back but I used to take my mates away to America every every summer and uh and I said well I just am I right

To stay out and they they were like yeah there’s a couple staying out anyway I didn’t realize who it was and then um I was staying out and then I was flying the next day to go meet my mates but I think we going to Vegas and uh my mates

Were obviously buzzing for it they they flew out already had they been there for the game before no no no they didn’t come flew out for after the because it was the end of the season so like we were going to have a good crack host

Take my away for 15 days in America every year we used to do 5 days somewhere 5 days somewhere else 5 days in Vegas is that we did it for that years on the SP the Crouch CL imagine if you seen us between Mickey Rock features in one of

Those we had some the times of our life know what I mean our mates from school still our mates now um but you know we we we were doing well well I say we like I was doing all right and I just used to yeah I just used to take them all out

And we used to have we used to have the best time but that was this particular time where was it yet and I remember I remember DAV Becka said state was out there he took us out so he was one of the peoples he was one of the ones that

Stayed it was the weirdest school ever so on so you’d gone from Chicago yeah out Tok oh to New York first okay and then we were flying from New York and I was going straight to Vegas but they were going elsewhere I think beex was staying

In New York okay um you’re in New York with Beck at this point yes the school’s man it was me Beckham Rob Green Andrew Johnson and soul Campbell God it’s the weirdest five it’s the weirdest I mean that is a footballing in between USD weird collection was

Buzzing where we going David how you taking us yeah so at this point he’s got run of the place right this I mean [ __ ] cuz he’s got to take us though he’s CED but yeah we had a great night blanket [ __ ] Babylon it was called you went

To Babylon yeah I think there’s one in nton hill or no Bungalow eight just pulled it out the b pulled it out that’s where we went Bungalow 8 New York yeah yeah yeah we went there we had a lot we had a had a lot fun so hang on but you’re the

England team out in that so if you got as be said don’t worry about tonight I’ll sort it well I don’t remember paying for much I’ll be honest so just but you just follow behind him right like exactly what I was doing you just orbit around him I just wait wait I just

Hanging around waiting for knockdowns what are you looking for here sorry I’m just researching Bungalow 8 just we had a good time I remember that yeah yeah and then I missed my flight the next day and then um yeah they’re like buses though those internal ones New York to

Vegas was pretty pretty pretty easy I just turned up and went off this flight I get the next one you didn’t want to Becks to come with you to Vegas that would be that would be some wouldn’t it yeah yeah that would be great what he say I’m Hamptons you lock

Recon he said don’t strug it mate I’ve took you out once first goal can you remember your first goal professional goal yeah yeah well listen we’ve talked about this before I think cuz I remember it like clear as day we’ve talked about this on the pod obviously I’ll be interested to

See yours but uh I’ll do mine pretty quick was like Gillingham I remember coming off the bench and uh we were 2-0 down at Gillingham and I came off the bench and I remember uh the corner coming in and me testing it and thinking right I’m going to volley this cuz I

Thought i’ practice I’m good at volle and now I’m good at volleying it bounced and I thought I’m going to volley this and I slipped and I literally in that moment heard the crowd grown like oh mad like I can remember it now clear as day because it was I remember seeing

Because people people used to see me when I used to come on they’d look at me and go like he can’t play football you I mean and there would always be a misconception of me so when I came on and then just it and slipped and we’re

Two down I could hear the I could visibly hear it in that moment and then thankfully recovered and V hit the volley so sweet in the top Corner uh and then I was like off and running then and that was me and then I set up the

Equalizer for Chris Kia we drew 22 love that and um and that was me kind of like I was just and that was a away at jills no it was at home L the road that was uh that was when I just knew that it was like I’m a professional footballer now

Do know what I mean yeah and that’s how how much it felt what about you it’s a big milestone isn’t it yeah huge so my I was loone at brenford that season from Arsenal and it was at home to Blackpool and again it was a volley so it was a

Free kick we had we got a free kick just inside their half on the right hand side near the touch line and it was just pumped in typical League one pumped in I was on edge of the box he got headed out headed out and I literally had a touch

It just bounced and half volley and as soon as it left my foot and it was one of the ones where I think I’ve seen this gu didn’t even mean to hit it it just went like an arrow straight in the in the uh far corner it was nil nil and

That was to make it 1 n wow how did how did you celebrate said you know what I think everyone just jumped on me he one of the ones where when a youngster scores in the team’s everyone’s absolutely buzzing for you um and everyone just jumped on me and lyu

Scored the second and we won 2-0 but I was lucky in that respect because when I was at brenford we was at the top of the table we was chasing for promotion so we weren’t struggling it was and it was at home it was a good vibe it was a good

Environment um and we went out after went out after the boys I was like buzzing buzzing do you think the tag of having that so that was your debut no that’s my first goal your first first goal that tag of scoring a really good first goal as a first

Goal helpful just the pr revie as a player isn’t it yeah you say you can’t find it it was on like cuz back then remember the lower leagues was on ITV oh mate we can get [ __ ] done on this trust do you remember someone found your goal

Like a really old what’s an old like milk cup goal or something 16s I was I would have been 14 or 14 I think yeah no 15 what what goal is it SIDS brenford uh versus Blackpool at it been 2001 2001 if anyone’s got footage of that it might even be someone

Who potentially was there that managed to get a sneaky little video never know well you know what let this we just loads there you know but we’ there’s loads of first ones we haven’t done there with like you know I was thinking first injuries first Petry first podcast

First that Peter Crouch podcast first first podcast first um there’s so many firsts that actually I think we could do this on another episode as well but so uh yeah we got a little bit carried away there we forgot that we asked Jermaine defo whether he’d Ron 7 million um so he

Has there is a voice note and we haven’t heard this no idea are the rumors true did Jermaine defo win 7 million on the national lottery yes Crouch do me you know how much people have said that to me like that was the rumor back in the day have

I once [ __ ] 7 million no I wish I did n didn’t win it mate I didn’t win [Laughter] it I think that’s confirmed I think he’s 7 million he said you only people have asked him if he’s won 7 million well it’s good to put that to bed then isn’t

It or you know if you did win 7 million isn’t that exactly what you would say if you wanted to keep yeah well that’s what I’m saying that’s what I’m saying it looks unlikely but I’d love to know how that rumor began yeah we should investigate more rumors you know cuz we

Can get um Wayne Bridge on Gladiators oh yeah yeah yeah have you got somewhere well another reply oh great if Wayne Bridge is up for it he’s in the mix but we have had so many celebrities contact us saying they want to be involved in Celebrity Gladiators

So many of them but if uh he wants to put his name at the top of the pile let’s see if he’s fit enough let’s see if he’s strong enough let’s see if he can take on those gladiators yeah I love that by the way this is not a confirmed

Booking not confirmed I don’t know sounds good well he is fit enough so he is fit enough yeah we’ll see listen if if you see way bridge on Gladiators you know how it all started yeah and that’s a massive pass on the Pod I’d rather one of our you know

Someone under our umbrella went into Gladiators yeah and if he’s on there he he have to wear the you know other p the Pod sticker it’ll be something on there yeah love it I’m sure he would boys last couple of podcasts we’ve been talking about the sleep app that you can get

Records in your sleep um you boys hadn’t seen this before I don’t think and now are obsessed with it rightly so lots of people are recording themselves in their sleep and then sending them into us what’s nice if you download the the sleep talk app and there’s a few of them

About is you can save the audio from it and then just literally forward it on on email TW us if it captures anything in the night so records you in the night you go through it the next day and it only shows you bits where it’s recorded

It’s like one of those motion capture kind of things yeah absolutely awesome I think personal highlights were fart weight’s dog and O andyy You’ shut yourself now we said that we were going to record ourselves I’ve got to be honest I’ve been a bit laxed on this I

Have but I’ve done it I’ve done it it’s been a bit boring there’s one the car alarm got my my son’s car alarm goes off um it kind of tells a story but it’s not great do you know what you want I know feels a bit odd you you want to record

In the nights where you’ve got a bit of you’re a bit ill like the fever dreams that kind of thing or you’ve had a drink or you’ve eaten a lot of cheese the dream yeah well you say that I woke up last night and my son I had one of my boys go

Like and I was like first I done when I my house was like [ __ ] I didn’t put the app on worri about not the safety of the house or him it was like I didn’t put the app on it was Deo well we got um people are sending them into to us we

Got one we got one from Alex here I’ve not actually heard this yet uh it’s been forwarded to me should I play it please do you’re R yeah who’s ring and in Rush Yeah wonderful Rush did he say ear rush in the end or rush I think he said Ian rush rush he was like rushan wow he Rush he’s he’s obviously like scoring a winner the amount of Dreams I’ve had where I’ve scored the winner

Like when I was a kid I was I was all a dreamt about that so oh scored the winner like he’s probably going like rush rush scored the winner all right I got message here from from KL uh it’s with the c so he’s he’s okay uh he says

Following you saying you’re going for a pascal to get a hesy which of course if you weren’t listening last week was a pascal Chim to get an Emil um a Wanda an Emil um I thought I’d send over some rhyming football slang if you’re going to the bar you’re going to the Denver

Quite like that one I do like that one one of you boys PS a worldy they’ve they’ve uh he did a Jason but that’s Jason punching standard language anytime I’ve put up a picture of I avoid it actually now and I know I’m It’s Like Moths To The Flame when I

Say this sort of thing it’s not going to help the cause but I’m I’m in a a tricky situation where occasionally my M will say you don’t really post about me on Instagram she doesn’t care but date night s anniversary something like that she sees everyone else put up these you

Know sort of very wet posts you know about and occasionally I pop a picture of my M and just underneath it’s just Jason Jason Jason Jason it’s so offensive to me I don’t know what you’re talking about to be honest yeah sorry I can’t relate [ __ ] H so what does what does

The M think when she sees that she must she must I Reon she secretly must love it she must do oh she must she know Jason who’s this lad Jason no which because the phrase punching she knows so she say punching like and then sometimes people just put up the the glove the

Glove emoji that goes I’ll get that one [ __ ] sake man why can’t it be slightly more like well done like what about why isn’t everyone putting Richard underneath it you know Richard Richard yeah you know what would you prefer Richard or J or Jason I just don’t know why it’s got

To be at my expense you know like oh you’re punching rather than well done I I just think for I think it it’s a compliment like it’s you’ve got to take it as a compliment you have to take it as a compliment otherwise you’re just burst in tears wouldn’t you well imagine

If it was the other way around if yeah but it’s not is it what I’m saying is if it was though that’ be if you put one on and it it didn’t go down well you put it on and it was like the other way yeah she’s

Punching it’s but it’s not this is what I’m saying like yeah but I just think everyone on social media could be a bit more of a team player you know what I mean because she obviously sees the comments and rather than Jason punching but gives her ring in a St doesn’t it or

She thinks right [ __ ] troll Like wow do you know what I sometimes see on social media I see like um I’ll see a comment say under a Laura Woods post and then and then someone will reply underneath going to that guy will be like cheers for Lending as your Ferrari this weekend mate you

Know what I mean to try and make the other person seem right like more attrative I guess what I’m saying is I think everyone could help me out a little bit more I think the punching thing it’s not and I get it it’s I get

What I get what’s been said but it would be really helpful just to kind of just go um you know throw some because she’s seeing the comments isn’t she right right so yeah just go like oh you want us to every I want punching the other

Way around so if you posted one of your misses just say something like uh she’s done well yeah that’s what I mean that’s that’s what I need or lucky girl couple of girls go lucky girl just for one postle yeah exactly just to level it out

A bit and I’m sure you’d like the same sense just a cut the girls just chip in and go like handsome yeah that’s what I mean handsome’s a great one yeah handsome’s a great one I it’s just I think it’s dud agree with that we just

Got we’ve just got a level out some of this not too far though maybe not that I don’t think it needs to go that far I I just think it just needs to be a subtle sort of endorsement of me rather than it just been totally like it’s almost like a

Thousand people messaging going what the [ __ ] are you thinking and it would be really helpful to help me out that okay all right well listen on this podcast right if you are listening if Chris does post a picture of him and his just just for

One post the next one you see don’t go too far with it stupid a team player team be a team player and say cor she’s done well something along those lines she’s done well you know um you know what a great guy he is something be

Creative about it lines go uh okay we’re getting towards the end of the podcast I warn you now the next thing we’re going to play you relatively long but I hope it’s going to be worth it do you remember we floated the idea with Neil warno when he was on about waro the

Musical yeah yeah and what we’re kind of imagining is make I don’t really he I think it came from the fact the night before he came to be on the podcast he uh took his uh wife to go see Jersey Boys and it turns out he’s a big fan of musical theater

So we Flo the idea of Neil warut the musical if if someone listening to this was willing to help us make it perhaps what we could do is look to get it performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in a tiny little venue like we’re not talking Wembley Arena Crouch I’m talking about

Like get a really small venue 10 person 20 person if that’s the audience amount that we think will come to this but wouldn’t it be amazing to have Neil warut the musical sounds it sounds sounds fantastic yeah as always well as always our listeners have stepped up

Here and have um started to get the ball rolling on this from a kind of creativity point of view Sid and um we got a message here from Tony who’s mocked up what a a song could be for warut the musical and has sent it to us

Okay not heard it yet um but I’m looking at the voice note here and it’s it’s quite lengthy go so I’m gonna play it we might play you the best bit in the podcast um which will be the bit you here um but if not let’s just play the

Whole thing and and it’ be interesting get everyone’s thoughts I think the great thing about this is it’s just getting the ball rolling and what I think could be amazing further down the Year sorry it’s to the tune of um this is me right okay Great I am not a stranger to the game Colin they say the Neo war is my name you got to learn to enjoy every win but pet see they have to say you got to do with discipline I won’t let them bring me down to dust I know that there’s a leak

For us for we are Victorious have mus going to bring you down if you pass to aell it’ll be 50b it’s not chess it’s Revenge are you with me this is Neil F off Pino with the blades BL is easy are you with me this is Neil that is world class wow that is well that in this entirety aren we okay so that’s what we’ve decided to do that’s the first vers and chorus of what’s been called This is Neil there is

Actually another verse um which we might play you on the next podcast oh my God please well who was his name in That’s Tony tonyon Tony send us in uh the next verse for the next episode please cuz that that that’s phenomenal yeah
