We test out the all new 2024 COBRA DarkSpeed fairway woods which feature pwrshell and pwrbridge technologu and available in 3 models. The COBRA Darkspeed Max fairway metal is designed with a slightly elongated head and bigger shape to help with launch and providing maximum forgiveness. The COBRA Darkspeed X fairway model features a slightly more compact head with neutral weighting and is aimed at the widest range of players. Finally the COBRA Darkspeed LS fairway woods is the low spin model with an even more compact head and features 3 adjustable weight options to allow for maximum adjustability.

Hello there everyone welcome back to the channel once again we are in the performance center at holey Hall Golf Club in leads my name is Ryan rastell if you haven’t watched any of our videos before hit that subscribe button see loads more of our content to help you

Play more and play better right we’ve got the brand new dark speed Fairway woods from Cobra to take a look at we’re going to hit some in the performance center here get them on the track man and hopefully they perform as well as the drivers did the drivers absolutely

Blew me away we’ve got the same models available in the fa woods so let’s talk about the technology involved in all three of these so before we talk about the differences in the three models we’ll talk about the technologies that are throughout this range of Fairway

Woods so the uh the hot face technology or hot face technology you can see in the top corner there is basically when Cobra are manufacturing these the face is not only the face but it also wraps around the bottom of the sole a little bit as well now what that does is just

Help with um getting the the face to to perform how Cobra wanted to it kind of stays more of one piece sometimes these faces are welded in and they move around a little bit and don’t quite get the energy transfer that you want we’ve got power shell which is to do with the

Actual framing of the the driver and also the insert in the in the bottom of it as well to help with a bit more flexion in certain areas of the face and the sole to get more ball speed and we’ve also got power Bridge which helps

To kind of stiffen the the club um laterally there so basic basically get more ball speed into the golf ball now it is available in three different models which we’ll talk to you about now so we’ll start off with Max okay so we can see a little bit more elongated from

Um sort of the top of the the crown there all the way to the back so slightly bigger shape it’s going to be slightly higher launching because of that um we can see the real differences Within These models is the waiting right so we can see in in Max we’ve got a heel

And a back weight there which we can shift around naturally this is going to play a bit more draw bias as well because there is that weight port in the heel which the other two don’t have but it’s really that footprint that slightly higher launch and also that kind of draw

Bias that sets the max apart from the others when we move into the X model which is probably going to be the one that most of you are going to play and the one that’s going to suit the highest percentage of the market the head is

That little bit more compact so we can see it’s got a little bit smaller from front to back there we’ve obviously just got the one we at the back part of the Fairway Wood there as well um and all those technologies that we’ve just spoken about are prevalent within there

Too so this is more of a kind of neutral weighting slightly smaller head we’re going to see a little bit less spin than what we saw with Max and then when we move into LS so as the name would suggest it’s going to be the low spin

Model uh it’s a slightly more compact head even more so than the X and the Max and we can see there’s a lot more of a waiting story here so we can see that we’ve got three uh so a movable weight there in the in the heel and toe so we

Can get a bit more draw or fade bias but we can also move a heavier weight to the back of the three-wood there that will also give us a bit more launch and spin and hopefully a bit more forgiveness so the only kind of criticism criticism

That we had when we were hitting driver was maybe some of that forgiveness particularly around the ls but we were seeing amazing ball speeds and amazing distance with it as well and I’m hoping we’re going to see exactly the same when we put all three of these Fairway Woods

To the test right let’s hit some on the track man so we’re going to start with the max model okay so just to let you know we’re going to use the same shaft in all three of these models which is the link extra stiff white shaft um that

Comes as standard in these so this was the shaft that I used in the drivers when we hit them and the performance was absolutely fantastic so let’s see what it’s like in the fairway wood and a reminder the max is the most forgiving we’ve got slightly more draw bias with

The weight in the heel there now what I’ve done with these three models because in each model The Loft is slightly different so what I’ve had to do with this one is Loft it down a degree So it’s 15 a half as standard in

A 3-w so it’s now 14 and a half which will match up perfectly with the ls but the X model is 15 as standard so if I Loft it down or up it’s not going to match up so I’m just going to leave that so the X model will be half a degree

More lofted than the other two okay now I don’t really think that’s going to make much of a difference but we’ll see I mean straight away the way it looks behind the golf ball nice and big has got a big footprint lots of mass behind

It should be easy to hit this in the air and yeah I think it looks great to be honest behind the ball really like that matte paint job on the top of it I think that looks really good feels very very good off the face really solid actually and nowhere near

As high as I was expecting it to yeah so that one definitely come off a bit less I would say as well the shaft feels very soft um in a Fairway Wood it did not feel this soft in a driver so it might be something to have a look at as

I mean that has gone ridiculously left let’s just hit another one slightly better bit more solid hit again I’m really trying to stop this from going left as much as possible it just wants to turn over I think it’s a combination of obviously the head being

A bit draw bias but also the shaft feels quite soft too right let’s have a bit of a hit in the X right so the X model now obviously a bit more neutral in terms of the weight we’ve just got this one back weight in there head is slightly more

Compact again we’ve got the same shaft in it as well so we’ll see how that goes feels a bit different actually I prefer the feel it feels a bit kind of more solid off the face um a little bit more of the sort of shape I’d expect to

See as well in that kind of starting just right of target with a little draw back again the head just to me sits a little bit better and kind of just starts the ball a little bit further to the right and it feels really good like I

Say much easier for me to hit that kind of draw that I would expect to hit feels nice and solid off the face looks to be launching actually a little bit higher than the max model I don’t know whether it is it’ be good to see that when we

Have a look at the results but yeah certainly feel Wise It’s a little bit more like what I was used to seeing out of AO Jet and this is kind of the replacement for the model that I had so I had just the standard Aero jet faway

With last year not the ls and and yeah obviously the X model in dark speed is designed to sort of replace that so very very good let’s hit the ls and see how that goes so now we’ve moved into dark speed LS so those of you that have

Watched the driver video know that when we hit the ls in the driver everything went crazy right so we started to get some amazing ball speed we started to get shots that were going about 330 yards so are we going to see the same performance increase in the

Fairway wood well we should should do really cuz it’s very similar in the weight the Technologies are pretty similar got the same shaft so let’s see how it goes what I would say is in terms of looks it’s very different to the x is a little bit more kind of Tor shaped if

You like a little bit kind of less mass in the heel bit of a different feel to the others slightly more kind of higher pitch metallicy kind of sound but certainly the flight is what I’d expect to see nice high draw does feel very good off the face and

Again that’s sort of same shot so ball speed I can already see on there is well over the 160 Mark which for a fairway wood is good yeah certainly better so yeah again that that was really good that’s come off quick as well so yeah similar to

What we’re seeing with a driver are we going to see those massive ball speeds and distances that we saw with those as well well I’m going to hit a few more with each of the models now make sure that we’ve got a really good average put

Some good swings on it and then have a really good compare of each of these and see exactly how they perform so let’s take a little bit of a look at the data that we got with all of these dark speed Fairway Woods we’ll start with the max

Okay and I did say when we were hitting that anything above that kind of 160 ball speed I would count as pretty good and we can see all three of these models are doing that the the max is slightly lower but still I mean it’s over 160 so

It’s pretty good so we can see the spin there 3,000 um as an a which again is slightly lower than dark speed X which is what I said when I was hitting him really I I I thought that and it’s almost the lowest of the three is the

Lowest of the three and you can see in terms of the carry it’s ever so slightly down on the other two just purely because it’s not coming off the face as quickly but you know those spin numbers are very good what I would say is probably down to the fact that I was

Turning it over a little bit as well it was it was definitely harder to hit straight for me than the other two for for you guys it might be absolutely awesome when we move into the X it straight up a lot we can see the the

Flight’s got up there the ball speed has jumped up to 163 and it’s quite comparable really to the ls when we look at that but we can see that with the ls it’s carrying just that little bit more a couple of yards on average longer if

We look at the curve though on the right hand side look we can see those numbers and we can see that as we move into the ls there’s less curve on it okay so you would imagine this to be less forgiving and it’s actually for me the

Most forgiving we can see that we’ve got on average 40 yards of left curve on the sorry 40 ft of left curve on the max model about half of that with the X and one foot of curve on average with the ls model so we can see in terms of

Performance there it’s very very good and and looking at the ball flights and the distances I mean I do not hit a three-wood 290 yards when I play on the golf course and certainly that would stack up very well against anything that I’ve tested normally when we’re doing

Reviews in here we might get a few that get towards a 275 to 280 Mark at the speed that I’m swinging it and the ball speed I’m getting but certainly not 290 yards and to get all three of them pretty much up there at that average just shows how well the technology in

These Cobra Woods Works we’ve seen it with the drivers now we’re seeing it with the Fairway woods and it’s kind of backing up everything that we saw in our driver test hopefully you’ve enjoyed that video if you have please leave us a comment below let us know what you liked
